The Buck Arms in Norwich

Delicious food and good service. I had plaice which was beautifully cooked. Seabass dish excellent. Fish pie the "best ever" according to my brother . Shepherd's pie also excellent.

I would highly recommend this for the quality of its food and variety of menu. It is situation in the Norfolk countryside with free parking and a great atmosphere. I would recommend booking in advance.

We thoroughly enjoyed a short lunch with friends we had not seen for 8 years. Brilliant pigeon breast, chips and sausage & mash with a fine pint of Southwold bitter and exemplary service. Thank you all.

We visited for Sunday lunch family of 3 adults 2 children (14 & 11) plus 3 dogs Had a lovely table inside plenary of room and very comfortable Good service prompt and charming 3 of us had roast dinners (2 roast beef 1 roast chicken) with the biggest Yorkshire puddings ever 1 had fish and chips then 1 children’s chicken strips with chips and beans changed to broccoli (unusual child) Portions are huge even defeated teenage boy with hollow legs! Even the children’s potion was huge. The roast beef was soooo tender and stuffing with the chicken was greatly enjoyed Food is fresh and hot and delicious! We normally love a pudding but felt too full this time. Good value for money 5 people would highly recommend.

Went here today for late lunch. Sat in the gazebo, lovely except for a wasp who wanted to play. I had a bar meal, fish finger sandwich. You are never too old for a fish finger sarnie and thos was superb. Chilli beef, hallumi burger and child gougons and chunky chips saw all four of us beaten, not a case of quantity over quality though, BOTH quality and quantity were there with bells on.

we were a group of 12 plus dog who visited the Bucks arms on the Saturday night England played... some cheering at the appropriate time from the kitchen did not spoil the quality of the food and service provided. All dishes starts and main courses wew fantastic full of flavour and very nice presented.. the only complaint (if it could be called a complaint) were the portions which were on the large size. because of this we had a limited number of puddings all of which were good. Excellent service and the bill including tip was we felt very reasonable for the tasty food

We visited here as part of a group of 10 friends on a Sunday for our Sunday Lunch Club, and although there was a lot of us and differing dietary requirements, we were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, despite it being a very busy Sunday service. The food, right through starters mains & puddings, was amazing, so tasty, and definitely well worth the price for the portion sizes and for those who couldn’t eat it all due to smaller appetites, their leftovers were boxed up so they could take them home, which was much appreciated. A lot of us have said we will definitely return, either as couples, with friends or with family… absolutely worth the price!! (For large groups you definitely need to pre book and a £10 deposit is taken per person which is then taken off the bill)

Absolutely beautiful roast beef lunch. Plenty of it, hot, and tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Love the surroundings, although a bit noisy, but it was very busy.

Myself and my dad eat out at this pub on occasion when we've walked in Blickling Hall, which is next door, and cannot fault the food or service. I'd eat here more often if I could afford to eat out more regularly 😂 We love all the Colchester Inns pubs that we've visited in the past (Recruiting Sergeant, The Rising Sun and The Black Boys Hotel). The food in all of these pubs has been plentiful and very tasty. Yes, some might say the prices are expensive, but my word, for the portion sizes, quality of the food and flavour, I think it's worth it for an occasional treat! We will be back again.

Stayed here last night. this is our 2nd visit and as last time, it was lovely. Dinner was superb and breakfast is the best! The staff are wonderful, very friendly and just normal people, no airs and graces. The bedroom was warm and cosy and beautifully clean. I have no hesitation in recommending this pub for a night stay or longer. Cannot wait for my birthday to enjoy it here again!

After reading some reviews I decided to book a stay at the “Bucks Arms” First impressions were very good, beautiful lighting as it was evening when we arrived, car park ample size great outside seating area (if wasn’t cold) lots of signs that they are dog friendly :) including dog drinking areas etc Once inside you feel welcome & cozy, we were greeted with smiles and laughter, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our room was on first floor, old style & charming with a wooden four posted bed (very comfortable), tv, coffee/tea etc shower room (could do with a pump for shower) all ok 👍🏼 warm clean and comfortable so all good. Evening meal was good lots to choose from again staff very friendly and helpful I had halloumi burger with a chicken breast added which was lovely but would recommend no humous or guacamole, my partner had the shrimp scampi and said it was delicious and we washed it down with a nice bottle of well priced sav blanc. It was NYE and although no party was held the manager was there until everyone had had enough 🥂 🥳 (long shift for him I imagine but never stopped smiling and laughing) But ……. Now for the best part “Breakfast” ❤️ Quantity 9/10 (10/10 for me as it stuffed us) Presentation 10/10 Quality 9.5/10 Location 9/10 Taste 9/10 Service 10/10 We then went for a beautiful walk around the Blickling estate with our pup lots to see and do in the area. Whilst staying in a rented lodge in Norfolk we were looking for dog friendly days out. Bickling Hall Estate is perfect with great walks for the dog and also had the benefit of the Buck Arms for somewhere to eat afterwards. On Saturday 11th we came as a family group of six adults and 2 dogs and as it was a Saturday and weather was fine we chose to sit outside and eat. The service was great the food was exceptional and other than the the selfish Morons that chose to vape under the outdoor eating area even though it was clearly marked as no smoking we had nothing to complain about. So much so that yesterday 15th November just my wife and I returned again for a nice dog walk but then to sit inside and have a meal. We asked if we could have somewhere that would be a little quieter as although our dog is good he is still young and can get a little easily distracted. They totally understood and we were shown to a table where we sat and had a lovely meal and a drink. My wife had the Veal chop and myself the Venison. We eat out a lot and I can say this was honestly one of the best meals out we have had for a long time. Service was great, food was superb, the whole experience was perfect. So well done to all the staff at the Buck Arms from waiters, waitress, chef.👏👏👏👏👏

Me and my family came to Norfolk to stay and unfortunately although Norfolk is a lovely place, it was soured by our experience at this venue. We stayed as guests in the hotel and it was damp and uncomfortable, The room was dirty and was left untouched when we went out for the day. The food and cleanliness of the restaurant and bar was fine but the service was nonexistent and again had damp patches all over the restaurant walls. It's a shame because it is a lovely little pub in a beautiful area but unfortunately due to bad service and nasty rooms we won't be coming back.

We have just returned after three days away at Blickling. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome, our room was lovely with great views and well equipped, it was cleaned each morning and restocked with goodies. I sensibly booked the restaurant for both nights. The food was amazing. I had a yellow Thai curry with crab and prarwns and it was excellent . The Lamb I had on the second night was also very good. By the time we left, we felt like we knew everyone and cannot wait to return for a second visit. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and accomodation. Thank you to all the staff for making it a special stay.

The staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. As the weather was hot we sat in the garden under a pleasant covered area. I'm a very fussy eater, but there were lots of things on the menu for me to choose from. The portions were very generous, made with fresh quality ingredients. This was the best pub meal we have had in a long time! We will definitely be returning.
