The Bromley at Fiskerton in Newark and Sherwood

After their recent takeover it was our first visit. Caitlin welcomed us and we were seated and provided with drinks promptly and efficiently The food menus look great with definitely something listed for everyone. We hope to see you again soon.

Ate here a number of time last year but today left feeling very disappointed! Ordered Sunday roast (usual on the menu inc roast veg, stuffing, y puds etc)…one veggie. Food arrived - no pork, no roast veg, no stuffing, no Yorkshire puddings! Queried this and they told us they’d run out 🙄. Drinks were wrong, bill was wrong and had to argue over getting anything removed - they did eventually. Rescued by the assistant manager. Very inexperienced staff left to run a bar and restaurant on Mother’s Day…would definitely not recommend.

Arrived for our meal to be met with staff well I presume staff, not dressed very smartly, to be told when they looked in a book full of scribbles that we hadn't got a reservation, we booked the week before, said they would get us in but a 45 min wait for food as they had a big table in, a young man smartly dressed looked after us, we where told it was his first night, a few hiccups but we didn't mind, we got our food sooner than 45 mins, our main meal was good value for money, and nicely cooked, the dessert was OK but could be more adventurous, I wouldn't say I wouldn't go back but customer service needs to be upped when you arrive, needs to be more welcoming and all staff in front of house should be dressed smartly

Met with friends for a meal When booking the reservation the young girl wasn’t at all happy to receive my phone call. On the evening- only 2young girls running the restaurant- the waitress got our food order wrong- no drinks arrived when ordered at the table, they were sat on the bar while the bat attendant was on her phones-food was cold- no warm plates- the apple crumble was the worst I’ve ever had- more like apple sauce with sugar as the topping. The staff wasn’t at all engaging or on leaving no apologies or good byes from any of them. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it or return unfortunately. Such a shame.

4 of us met up for lunch had two fish and chips and two steak meals. All meals were lovely and well cooked will defiantly return very soon

Our very small wedding took place in April and after photos at Southwell Minster we adjourned to The Bromley. It was a Monday and many places were not open, The Bromley was so we booked. We ate from the standard menu and the food and service could not be faulted. I can't really add much more........a very nice part of a lovely day

Have been many times before it changed hands and always had a good experience. First time since it has changed hands and was notably quieter than in previous occasions. Only two staff on, which I find a shame. If only there were more staff, the experience could’ve been better. Had to wait a while to be served a drink, which then sat on the bar for ages before being bought to us. We were then provided with menus, which were dirty and stained. Ordered scampi and steak, but not informed of any issues. We waited over one hour for our main meal to come out and the steak was still very red, yet we had ordered well done. Waitresses disappear as soon as meal provided and I had to get up to find someone to make a complaint. The lady did take the steak away but there was no apology, although it was removed off the bill. The scampi was average. So disappointed as we had been looking forward to it. Whilst it’s an affordable menu and has great potential, they need to be able to get meals out quicker and as ordered and serve it with a smile.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Bromley in Fiskerton today. Steak and Ale pie, mash and veggies with a jug of very tasty gravy for me, Chardonnay chicken for my husband, roast chicken with an absolutely delicious mushroom sauce, mash and veggies. Served by a very pleasant young lady. Food arrived quickly, perfectly cooked and hot. Reasonably priced too. The only downside was that it was very quiet so lacked a little atmosphere. Will definitely go again to this lovely riverside pub.

This was our first re-visit to the Bromley Arms at Fiskerton since the recent re-opening under new management. It was quite busy first off which meant a slightly longer service from the single waitress than expected. However, the lamb shank and vegan lasagne plus a couple of desserts were excellent and served by young but friendly and attentive staff. A lovely lunch at good value and great views of the very high and fast running Trent outside. What’s not to like - we’ll return soon.

The food was excellent tonight my husband had steak which he said was cooked to perfection my veggie option was great. Kelsey our server was outstanding

Six of us had a lovely meal on Saturday night, four had steaks which could not be faulted, one burger which was tasty and tender meat and one the tapas which was tasty and excellent value. Desserts were lovely too. Only issue was appeared to be only two members of staff who worked hard and were on the go none stop and need to be commended as the were exceptionally pleasant and just got on with it.

We have to this pub many times and it's been excellent we went on wed Oct 15 for lunch at 1pm we waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes before our order was taken I had the beef bournigon but sent it back as I couldn't chew the meat the rest of the party had their meals but weren't brilliant would never recommend the place and would never go back there again, very disappointed

Very disappointed. We went to try lunch on the 15th Nov. It was very busy, which is good but after waiting over one and a half hours for a simple mains only meal we decided to leave. On the way out we bumped into another customer who said they would never eat there again, they had waited a long time and then had to send the meal back because the meat was unchewable. There was no indication from the staff that service would be so long, very unprofessional and will not be going again.

Nice food unfortunately had to wait some time for it to arrive. As for some reason who ever did the rota thought it was a good idea to put one yes one waitress on duty. The waitress was superb it was very busy and she was rushed off her feet. I remember her saying it was her 2nd day in the job unfortunately I didn't get her name. But I wish her every luck in the job. She was always smiling and polite even though she was clearly in pain. Sat 4th November

We went here first time since reopening the meals were hot very tasty and well presented also seemed to be a lot more choice will certainly be back

Visited here for lunch on 3occasions first visit excellent returned for a second again v enjoyable food service poor miserable server ! 3rd visit poor service , drinks were wrong, food dry sauceless unappetising . Not impressed unlikely to be back

Our second visit after reopening, first visit was a nice meal, second was not. For kids menu-chicken nuggets were goujons and quite spicy for a child, served with thick chips not fries as stated. Our other grandchild chose fish fingers which were not traditional, looked like bits of battered fish, again with thick chips not fries, it matters to a 3 year old. Steak & ale pie was good but the gravy that came with it was a mass of gloop, obviously thickened with cornflour that had gone lumpy, it was inedible. Vegetables were virtually raw, so disappointing. I am really keen to support this pub as I want it to stay open and I will give it one more visit in the hope that reviews have been listened to and improved upon. Through November main meals are half price so I’m sure a lot of people will be taking advantage of the offer which is designed to kick start the business. Things really need to improve if this business is going to succeed.

A perfect meal atmosphere and service in the newly reopened Bromley. Steak chilli was sublime and the staff could not have been more friendly. We will be back very soon

We called in here for a meal which was mediocre at best asked for the bill and went to pay it with a couple of £5 lunch vouchers we were given a few weeks ago but this very rude arrogant woman refused to accept them because she didn’t give us them even though it clearly stated on them The Bromley I argued with her but she wouldn’t budge and said you can use them in Kirkby in Ashfield which is nowhere near where we live people like her do not deserve to succeed and my advice to anyone is to leave this place well alone as they are going nowhere with their attitude and ignorance 🤮🤮

New owners but need to do better nowhere near as good as previous owners. Been in quite a few times and loved it never again after latest experience

Very disappointed. Having been a customer for years the new owners need to step up quite a lot if they are going to succeed. Service was terrible despite the place only being a quarter full. Mash potato was lumpy and veg was hard. Let’s hope they get their act together for their sake and loyal customers

Went just before it closed due to a change in tenancy and was laughable. Perhaps the timing illustrated the experience of a departing landlord, but the service was non-existent and the price for a couple of small loaves of bread as a starter represented some of the worst value I've ever encountered. Hopefully new a new tenancy will invigorate what was once a very enjoyable experience

This is one of our favourite places to visit. Beautiful pub, great friendly staff, with relaxing surroundings. We eaten our lunch sat at the side of the river watching the boat's go by. We both had a roast dinner. The beef, lamb & veg was cooked perfectly & taste so delicious. The meat just melted in your mouth. We have had a very lovely morning, always enjoy our time here. And would definitely recommend to anyone.

Great location next to River Trent. Great views along the river. Lunchtime menu is good value and the majority of staff are excellent. However, nobody had checked to see if the outdoor cushions were dry after Storm Betty. They weren’t dry. We pointed this out to a member of staff. His flippant reply left a sour taste. ‘Oh! It must have rained then.’ is not a good approach to customer service.
