It’s nice to have another choice of pub in the area. The lager is well priced and the chef is excellent. She has vast experience having worked at Marcellos for years, her Dad owned it. The pub is getting a bad rap for certain things but these are things that occur in every pub so I think it’s really unfair to have a go about it. You can go in any pub toilet in the country and people making sounds that resemble someone suffering from hay fever shall we say. On the whole it’s a good local boozer like any other. It’s dog friendly and it’s a family local. Just a shame people seem hell bent on giving it a bad name.

Well I will start with the good points friendly staff and reasonable priced drinks. That’s where it ends we have visited a couple of times to see if our first visit was a one off bad experience. Unfortunately this was not the case people openly vaping in the bar each time we visited with the staff turning a blind eye. On one visit to the gents a couple of young men openly waiting to get into the cubicle and audible snorting and then leaving a couple of seconds later. The place appears to be quite so I can see why the management don’t want to confront these people and possibly lose the trade whoever it’s counter productive as decent people will not want to visit with this sort of thing going on. Green king needs to get a grip as this establishment is supposed to be family friendly I for one wouldn’t take children there. They need to be reported to the local authority as I’m sure they will be breaking the terms of the license.

Just moved house to the area, read the recent reviews which seem a little harsh. Been in a few times in the last three weeks, beer very well kept and we had a great Sunday lunch last week. Had pizza tonight and knew straight away the pizza had been prepared by someone very professional. Turns out the Chef was connected to a local restaurant called Marcellos for many years . Sophia’s pizza’s are well worth the visit. Highly recommended,

Unfair to review this as The Broadway as pub is now the Wavendon. Recently reopened and pub has gone downhill rapidly. Owned by Green King they want to be ashamed once a respectful pub/diner under previous owner , the Wavendon/Broadway is now a den of drugs, vaping and kids running wild! More suited to a caravan park. The owners need to be ashamed. Please avoid

We had a funeral buffet in the waverdon pub. The food was not of good standard and small amounts ect1 bowl of curry for 50 people. 10 cheese scones to share .get other cateres in or do your own .nobody enjoyed it

Manager asked us to go to the bar for drinks so she obviously new we were waiting, then after 5 minutes of waiting some other people came to bar and she went over and served them first. As she did it, she looked at us and smirked . Did not feel welcome at all so we just left , shame because it is a lovely place ,

From the moment we arrived, everything was first class. I had the Tomahawk steak and oh my lord it was amazing. Sweet was a chocolate brownie with caramel and the same again, amazing… great service and great value with fantastic service

very disappointing!!! Food cold on arrival and very little vegetables probably this is to to encourage you to order more from the additional sides on menu!!!! Did ask to reheat but to be honest wasn’t much hotter when it was returned. £11.95 the price of Sunday lunch and beef was brisket which is ok I expect a little fat but couldn’t eat mine due to the enormous amount of it!! I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for Sunday lunch.

Emma was such a lovely waitress, we were made to feel so welcome as soon as we entered. Food was amazing and the service was top quality… hopefully buying a house round this area in the near future and looking forward to this being our local.

Went for an anniversary dinner on a Saturday night. I got the scallop starter, then went all out with the fillet steak and lobster tail. I can honestly say I have never had a better cooked steak anywhere else in England. What a hidden gem! Service was quick for how busy it was. Pricey, but this sort of place and menu always is, perfect for a treat or occasion. Lovely vibe, setting and staff. After our meal, our table was needed but they made sure we had a seat in the bar (where a singer was on) before they moved us on. Will definitely be back.

Made a reservation here after hearing from a few friends how much they liked the place so thought we’d give it a go! We’re so pleased we did, everything was beautiful. We decided to opt for mains and sides type thing rather than getting starters so chose a pasta dish each. I had the linguine with king prawns and fillet steak and my partner had the meatball linguine. We also shared a Chicken Kiev pizza and some potato skins with garlic and bbq dip. The pizza was the star of the show for us, it looks a little underdone in the pictures but it was honestly done to perfection, the base was lovely as it was nice and thin and crispy but not soggy at all. Everything else was very very good, the only slight let down if I could really pick one was the fillet steak king prawn linguine didn’t have much sauce and lacked in flavour slightly. It was still lovely but expected a little bit more from it. Safe to say we didn’t manage to finish the mains but we did stay for dessert which we’re also lovely! Service was great too, didn’t get our servers name but the two girls who served us were so lovely and super attentive. When ordering drinks etc we only waited a minute or two for them to arrive. All in all, a great experience, lovely food and a really enjoyable night. Will definitely be back to try the steaks and burgers!!

Had a business lunch with colleagues and we were not disappointed. Food was extremely good and the service could not have been better. It's not cheap, this it is not a fast food outlet, however the choice of meals are worth the price and we'll definitely be back.

Visited when over in South Shields playing golf. A chap in the club recommended Stirks and he was not wrong. Two Tomahawk steaks cooked perfectly. Staff excellent and very attentive to everyone. I will be going back next time I am over the North East.

Visited here last night for the first time. Heard a lot of good reviews for this place and I wasn’t disappointed!As soon as we walked in we were greeted with friendly staff, we had a couple of drinks in the bar area before we had food. Lovely and comfortable atmosphere. Good choice of beer on draught (always pleased when Moretti is available!) and also have a good gin menuFor food, we both had the Tomahawk 24oz, medium. Large side of chips to share which were delicious, they came included with the steak as well as an onion loaf (amazing). I had peppercorn sauce which was the best peppercorn sauce I’ve had - I have been to extremely expensive Steakhouses and none have got the sauce as good as that! Partner got garlic and chilli which was not what he expected as it was creamy.. not to his taste but not to say there was anything wrong with it. We did order a separate side of onion rings which were also lovely, not greasy where a lot of places are dripping in grease. Overall, the whole experience was really really good. I found everything excellent, however I do knock a star down as partner thought the steak was under seasoned. Will point out that the young waitress with blonde hair that served us (didn’t get her name) was so attentive, friendly and professional.. really makes a difference to the whole experience, so thank you! For all the food mentioned above and 2 pints at the table, it came to £66 which I think is EXCELLENT value for money! Will definitely be back. Sunderland don’t have many nice places for a good steak so I’m glad I finally tried here :)

3rd time over a couple of years we have visited and have always left a little disappointed. Yesterday my husband and I had a table booked for 4pm. Ordered the fish cakes and arancini and tomahawk steak and fillet steak. Arancini was beautiful, but the fish cake was still very cold in the middle, the waitress was quick to apologise and removed it from the bill. Steaks were lovely but the accompaniments not so - one sad onion ring, tiny mushroom and a limp bit of lettuce, chips were lovely but no onion bread. We also ordered a slice of cheesecake each which were nice. We paid nearly £80 for the meal and I’ve personally had better elsewhere and would expect higher standards for that price. Also did not like how the staff towered over your when ordering - covid 19 and all that. Overall okish food, good service apart from the lack of distance, but won’t be back.

I had already read about the lack of social distancing but by god the food outweighed any negatives. We’re all adults and know what to do to stay safe so let’s get over that. Obviously taking advantage of the “Eat out to help out “scheme, 3 of us dined here August 12th. We weren’t disappointed either. John and his serving staff really appear to have stepped up their game. He was a courteous host and the girls quick and efficient. 2steaks and a pork chop dish were cooked exactly as ordered and were delicious. Portions so big so no room for dessert as we also shared a garlic bread. Booked up again as we left as was that good. Highly recommend and just don’t expect to be sat with masks/plastic dividers spoiling the dining experience. There was ample room between tables and everyone kept to themselves.

First time here this afternoon and can say won’t be the last the food was spot on the steaks where cooked just as ordered better than miller and carter and cheaper as well, well worth the money for what you got and the waitresses were spot on as well the pepper and the blue cheese sauces was a great compliment to the dishes we thoroughly enjoyed our visit in Nice surroundings , Thanks to the staff and chef

i have not been in since before the pandemic however when i have been the service and food has been excellent.I think its pathetic that some customers come on here and leave a negative review slagging off the the manager and the staff.Have they not got the guts to tell the staff to their face instead of airing their complaints on here

A welcome return to the newly refurbished and slightly rebranded Broadway for Sunday Lunch, the restaurant is now an Italian steakhouse and the menu has a selection of pizza and pasta mains that look very tempting but we are here for lunch and it’s Sunday so we’ll have two of the beef please. Thankfully changes in the decor and the theme of the restaurant hasn’t meant changes to the traditional roast and the meal was as lovely as every time we’ve been before. Huge crispy Yorkshire, beautifully cooked veg and meltingly tender beef. Skipped starter and pud and to be honest I don’t think I’d have managed my main if I’d had a starter today but the arancini sounded superb from the description, maybe next time.

Popped into The Broadway on a Saturday afternoon for a couple of quiet drinks after the recent refurb here. Staff need to be a lot more vigilant and pull up punters who are not respecting social distancing as it is basically for a free for all. As an example, we witnessed an older chap being effectively forced to leave as 2 young lads sat at his table in the bar as it was busy. Other than a couple of bottles of hand sanitizer there isn’t much in the way of covid precautions, which is worrying. A track and trace pen and paper system is in operation at bar but you are not prompted to sign and many customers just plain ignored it and staff were not bothered. Seems to be a bit of an edge with the atmosphere as well, particularly in the bar area, with loads of young lads in sportswear. A shame really as this establishment got off to a great start when it opened and the food is fantastic (apart from the £3 surcharge for sauce for your steak of course) P.S. the ‘management response’ will be passive aggressive no doubt, but I guess serves my point.

Came for dinner yesterday we were seated straight away however it took 25 minutes before someone came and took our order, we had already drank our drinks so had to order more. It wasn’t that busy and there was people who got asked their order who came in after us. Not impressed with the service at all. Steak wasn’t that good, ordered a sirloin which wasn’t cooked the way I asked, didn’t want to complain because I just wanted to leave asap, not impressed having to pay for a steak then another £3 for a sauce, it should be included in the price. Won’t hurry back, the onion loaf was greasy which I touched it I didn’t eat it.

The manager Ian Foxton is absolutely terrible & should not be in the job, absolutely zero people skills & has an attitude problem, you only have to see his disgusting attitude in responses to reviews on here, on their Facebook page and on google, he’s mocking people about there reviews and basically calling them liars.I made an enquiry about the Eat out to help out offer and got nothing but abuse from the manager after I politely pointed out there establishment wasn’t showing up as taking part in the offer on the Governments web site but they were advertising it via there FB page. The also posted the wrong information about the days the offer was on etc. I had a reservation but quickly cancelled after the attitude I got.It’s a shame as when I’ve been the food is great, the only issue we had lots of food wasn’t available on the occasions we’ve been which seems to be a common issue from other reviews I’ve seen, I even had my 40th family birthday meal here.The manager is driving customer away all because he has issues, being polite takes noting, I certainly will never be back. Hopefully the owners will see sense and get a new manager in before he drives all the customers away. No doubt I’ll get a attitude filled response to this review on here also.Edit: It seems the owner thinks it’s perfectly ok for his manager to be rude etc to customers also.

Went here for the first time since they have updated their new menu to more of an Italian than steak house. Me and my boyfriend went on a Saturday around 6.30pm .. it was busy to be fair. First thing I noticed was there was no social distancing going on - not even 1 metre apart. Which made me think there’s a lot of people here wonder if they are thinking the same? The staff didn’t have any PPE on (which other restaurants I’ve been to during this pandemic have wore PPE - basically walking into stirks it was like there was nothing going on in the world). Anyway ordering food we ordered a starter, main and desert each. I did really want to try pasta as it’s now more pizza pasta than steak house so that’s what I really wanted but the choice wasn’t great. So for starters my boyfriend got muscles and to be fair the portion was massive for £8 definitely couldn’t complain he really enjoyed them. I got pulled brisket and oregano arancini, again really enjoyed that. I fact really recommend. For mains I got pork chop tomahawk - like I said before I really wanted pasta so I was kinda like hmmmm will I enjoy the pork chop?! But honestly wow it was so nice I’d get it again. My boyfriend got fillet steak and king prawn linguine which he said was also absolutely delicious. Then we got deserts which were the only thing that let the meal down. There was no menu so the girl just told us what there was (not much choice) my boyfriend got a brownie and I got a slice of cookie dough pie. They weren’t home made they tasted bought in - which I absolutely hate from a restaurant. My cookie dough slice just tasted like cardboard and like it had been in the fridge all week. All in all the meal itself (starter and main) apart from the fact the staff had no PPE on was lovely and will definitely go back to try a pizza as when we were walking out someone had ordered one and it looked soo nice.

Went with my husband and my 3 year old granddaughter.Not much choice so got her a cheese pasta.she took one mouthful and said it was horrible.it came with one piece of cheap garlic bread and was bland.She ended up eating my chips and tomato.I also ordered a pizza to take home for my son and some chips and he only ate the chips as the pizza was burnt and too crispy to eat,also tasteless.Mine and my hubbies burgers were nice and the seating area outside is lovely but the food is not worth what they charge for it.

Came here aware of quite mixed reviews from friends and family but wanted to try this for myself. We ordered one of their starter platters between 2 and that was absolutely amazing, the scotch egg is an absolute must. For the mains I ordered the double Dutch burger, with the burger itself being juicy and delicious, but I didn’t rate the Dutch fries at all. My husband got a sirloin steak and found that it was very gristly which he was disappointed with. He had the home cooked chips which were amazing, as was the peppercorn sauce. The portion sizes here are very good. We weren’t 100% impressed however possibly would eat here again after looking at future reviews.

There were four of us on a surprisingly busy Monday evening, the food was excellent and the service very good, I have read the 1* reviews and think some of our fellow reviewers should stay at home, there is a sign on the wall saying they dont rush the cooking and if there is anything not correct bring it up on the night.The burgers were exceptional, the fillet was great, it is a nice place serving good food and not pretentious, you will get what you pay for here as it is not the cheapest, some places charge £9.99 for steak but compared to here it will be naff.

Can't beat the Sunday roast from the really reasonably priced Sunday menu deal. I had chilli prawn cocktail to start and a gammon dinner. The normal menu can be pricey however well worth it, look out for midweek deals. The staff are always friendly, great chilled out atmosphere.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday dinner here, staff were great, atmosphere was good and the portion sizes are superb (not too much and not too little)The wait time was long, it was busy when we went in and some large groups but I guess just a quick message when ordering that the wait time could be a little longer than usual will appease people. We waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive... Like I say, minor.

We had previously (November 2019) enjoyed a funeral buffet at this establishment, and as a late idea went for Sunday lunch today. Rather than lunch at home, this year we decided that each Sunday we would try eating out at different venues. The Broadway excelled today. My wife had a steak whilst I ordered the slow-cooked beef. The presentation of both dishes was admirable, with plenty of variety and sufficient quantity that we didn't need a dessert. (I enjoyed the mushroom starter). The steak was cooked to perfection and the Diane sauce delicious. The slow-cooked beef (brisket) was a sizeable slice but melted in the mouth. The extra little additions, stuffing, pig in a blanket, rosti, etc. and the huge Yorkshire pudding made the meal special. Properly roasted potatoes, not deep-fried as in other places, were yummy! The staff were responsive and pleasant, and although there were many patrons, waiting time was very acceptable for freshly cooked food. .We didn't book a table in advance but it may be advisable. Well done to Tony and the team in the kitchen, and management and waiting staff, (who didn't keep us waiting!) We will certainly return!

Can not capture enough in a short review how grateful we are as a family for the service we were provided with for our family funeral. From intital contact with Bethany in which she advised and guided us with the utmost of kidness and professionalism. On the day the area was set up and ready, unlimited tea and coffee with restock of milk and cups. The food was plentiful and of a very good standard, fresh sandwiches, delicious pies and sausage rolls and cheescake. The bar was well manned with friendly helpful staff. Thank you again for making a difficult time a lot easier. We would highly recommend this as a venue for a funeral wake.

We had burgers which was a very different experience. However, very enjoyable experience. There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed our food. Service was efficient if slightly slow. Generally enjoyed by all.

Visited in early January with friends. Fantastic menu and the best steak I have had in a very long time, the quality of the steak is second to none. I ordered a 16oz Tomahawk cooked to medium. It was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. Wide range of steaks were ordered as well as pasta and burgers and plenty of sides all delicious. Generous portion sizes and good value for money. Will be difficult to find a better steakhouse in Sunderland.

Fab food, fab staff. Warm welcome. Works christmas night out staff and food were outstanding. Staff made us feel very welcome and the food was outstanding.

Great food and a nice atmosphere would recommended highly went with soup which was really good and the steak was fantastic.

Second time here after a pretty bad visit first time. Xmas Fayre. Strange Xmas Fayre menu. Starter option of white or red wine. ?? Never seen that before. Of the 4 main course options 1 wasn’t available. No alternative in place. Sticky banoffee pudding ? Strange. What’s wrong with normal. Trying desperately to be different and interesting but failed. Apple crumble disgusting amount cinnamon in this. No one checking seasoning obviously. No lamb available or pork on the A la carte either. Member of party who was pregnant ordered well done steak came out medium rare. Another members steak grossly over cooked. Mine not right but close enough. Charged for chips we didn’t have. Only £2.50 so thought hey ho. Only 3 tables in whilst we were there 5.30pm - 8pm. Only one chef in kitchen. Things must be on the slide big time here. That’s the last for me anyway.

Had the most delicious surf and turf! Perfectly done steaks and every mouthful was incredibly tasty! Best yet! Lovely surrounds and plenty of pre-Christmas atmosphere! Staff couldn’t do enough to help, great place!

After hearing a lot of really good things about this steakhouse and my love for meat we thought it was a must try!

We visited on Saturday night after trying to arrange babysitters for months so we could catch up with family. We booked for 8pm and after drinks at the bar were seated after 10mins, menus given and we were told there was no risotto or ribs left.

Turned up tonight with a party of 7, hadn’t booked a table but getting a table sorted wasn’t an issue at all. First of all noticed it was a bit chilly which was instantly explained to us and was out of the owners/managers hands.

We took friends for a meal on Friday night. We have been several time during the week but never on a weekend. As usual the food was excellent but unfortunately the service was not.The staff were friendly but not very attentive. From showing us to our table and taken our food order we were never asked if we would like anymore drinks for the rest of the night . When we visited through the week the staff couldn't have been more helpful. This will not stop us coming again as we enjoy the food but we'll make it through the week instead of a weekend

We booked for lunch at 130 we arrived at 115 we were told that the table wasn't ready i had to ask twice if the table was ready we were sat down about 155 we ordered when the starters arrived there was one short the waitress said it wouldn't be long we had to ask twice for the starter we were served the mains and after asking for No cheese on two meal be cause they were ALLERGIC the two meal were served covered with cheese the two meals were taken away and replaced this could have cased untold problems no one showed any interest in the fact that they were allergic all in all we never ate together because of the abysmal service and lack of management i would not recommend the Broadway to anyone with food allergies they cant be trusted this was a disaster from the start

We chose Baked mushrooms with a blue cheese and fried Brie for starters. Main course of Gammon and a rump steak. Excellent food and great service. Unfortunately we couldn't manage a sweet.... too full. We will be returning soon.

We go here regularly and the food, atmosphere and staff are always great. Went for Sunday lunch and it was like home made. Would definitely recommend.

We often come here as a group from work and it has always been lovely. However, we came in after a long week on Friday 27th for a meal and the service we experienced was shocking. We arrived at 5pm and sat down, we asked about the specials menu to be abruptly told from across the bar that it wasn't on at the moment. We waited 30 minutes if not more before I had to go and get menu's myself for the table, and then had to ask someone to come and take our order. Once we had finished, we waited another hour before having to go and ask a staff member to clear the plates off the table. The restaurant was not as busy as we have seen before, and we were disgusted by the service here. Staff members were just standing by the bar chatting. Please do not let this happen again, as we have been here many times before and have never had a bad experience.

First visit to here since it was the Wavendon pub years ago. It’s been nicely renovated. The lady who showed us to our seats was quickly back to take our drinks order and then the food order and was on the ball throughout when drinks needed refreshing etc. The food was lovely. I had the pork Sunday lunch as did my wife followed by the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. I was stuffed. I will be back later this week to try out the steaks.

Brilliant food today cooked to perfection service was fab strongly recommend. lovely inside modern and spacious and very clean. Great outdoor area too.

Visited as two couple the food was top quality plenty of choice on the menu we opted for different starters then all had burgers and halloumi fries which were gorgeous couldnt finish it all. House wine pretty decent. Very good prices also.

Cradled in for lunch today, creamy mushrooms and a Caesar salad for starters followed by two beef dinners. The portions were generous and all the components were perfectly cooked. Couldn't manage a dessert this time, stuffed. We will be back.

Really disappointed about food and service very bad . Felt like food was just chucked onto table . Beef in sandwiches was tender but the buns were soggy the rest of the food was so so greasy.

This was our second visit and a much better experience than the first. This time the meat was excellent ( as one would expect considering the proprietor is a butcher). The steak was beautiful and tender and chips were excellent too. The only slight negative was the slow service at the bar but we did get served eventually.

high quality steak burgers with a large portion of triple cut chips - really nice service,was attentive without being overbearing. Great value as we ate off the before 7 menu ( 2 course £11.95. 1 course £8.95)

Stirks Steakhouse Bar & Grill had been highly recommended to my wife and we took the opportunity to book a table on a Saturday afternoon. It was good timing when my daughter and grandson arrived outside the house as we were leaving for our meal. The result was a wonderful experience for us all. How do you keep a two year old happy? Introduce him to the images of the cow throughout the restaurant and bar area. What about the females? Well presented and tasty food accompanied by their favourite drink. Coffee and cider were both served perfectly. Really pleasant hour or so. Thanks to all the staff.

We went for a family meal and we weren’t disappointed.

Visited the restaurant on 27th July and had a wonderful family birthday celebration thanks to the wonderful staff and outstanding food. There was 18 people in the party and everyone was in agreement how efficient the staff were in looking after so many of us and the service was seamless. There was a varied choice of food ordered from the vast menu with most people opting for steaks which were served to perfection. We have been regular visitors to the restaurant over the past 2 years and will look forward to returning very soon.

I've been here quite a few times now, and never had a bad meal yet. I love the fact you can get a lovely creamy pasta dish and add steak to it - HEAVEN ON A PLATE!

Was skeptical that the restaurant in the The old ‘Wavy’ could be that good. However, food was excellent. Mussels and Sirloin steak were perfect, wife enjoyed the salmon. Loved the accompaniments and with a few large glasses of wine each we think it was fair value for £75.

The husband and I had lunch here on Sunday for the first time and it was delicious. It tasted as good as it looks in the pic. The staff were friendly and efficient and it was very reasonably priced. We'll be back.

We visited last Christmas and have put off leaving a review because I'm not sure if anything will be done about it and an elderly relative was treating us so didn't want to cause a fuss for their sake.

Phoned up at 5pm on Friday to book a table for 7.30, girl took all the details and confirmed the booking. Arrived at 6pm and had drinks in the beer garden as the weather was beautiful, went in the restaurant for 7.30 and the girl said we had no booking but that they could fit us in. Gave us a small table right in the back corner so expected it to be busy, we were there till just before 10 and the bigger tables remained empty.

We ate here on Fathers Day as a family of 4. We’ve been a few time before but this was the first time we’ve taken the kids! As always, the service was spot on even though the place was rammed. We enjoyed steaks (except the 5 year old who always wants cheesy pasta ) from the Sunday menu and the kids’ menu. The portion sizes were very generous and the food was perfectly cooked to our request. I was impressed that the management hadn’t whacked the prices up for Fathers Day as so many other establishments had! In all, with 2 courses for adults and 1 for kids, with 4 soft drinks and 4 pints, the bill was only £70 which was an absolute bargain!

Chose The BROadway as we had been there when it first opened and I booked it for a Monday night. Ordered drinks decided to go for the set menu but told no nachos or mussels which were what we wanted. Ordered starters of soup and meatballs. Waited 25 mins and bearing in mind not busy at all when they arrived starters were lukewarm and the tomato soup looked and tasted the same as the meatball sauce ! Meals returned waited another 15 mins and were told ‘these are fresh ‘ were the previous starters not.? Main course arrived of chicken kebabs which were very dry and gammon for my partner. The meat was nice but you would expect that hopefully for a family butcher. All in all disappointing and put a dampener on the evening especially as it was me who chose it. Won’t be returning .

We called here for Sunday lunch. The second time I have visited this restaurant, excellent meal, great value for money.

Party of 4 for tea. Arrived at 5 and seated straight away. Staff attentive but not intrusive and John spent time chatting to us. (Nice touch). All ordered different meals - chicken , steak, gammon and belly pork. We tried 2 of the new desserts and so impressed. All the food was beautiful to look at (really presented well) and tasted delicious. Desserts amazing and overall worth every penny. We sat for 3 hours and felt welcome, never felt the staff wanted us to move. Absolutely fabulous and hats off to John and his staff, they’ve really upped their game. We’ll be back really soon.

Outstanding new menu, mixed grill is a carnivores dream. All of the food was served hot and in a timely manner, reasonable prices and will definitely be returning. Desserts are top notch too.

Checked this place out to get a flavour of the ambiance. Didn't try the food. The bar tariff is on the expensive side. But, come on John, if you're charging not short of four quid for a pint, at least provide free wi-fi! It's 2019 you know.

So treat me to my tea here I had sirloin steak which was cooked perfect and chips and son had the same with pepper sauce staff were friendly and helpful and didn’t have to wait too long

Seafood platter was delicious specially the mussels. Steak was done to perfection (medium rare)with red hot home cooked chips. My wife had the chicken and prawns with a lovely mash and sauce. Service was spot on will be going back for sure

The food was lovely and the service was good. It was a shame about the football result . We will be back .

Probably the best steak I've ever had, anywhere, in a good, friendly atmosphere topped off with polished, professional serve - all at a very reasonable price.

My husband and i frequented for lunch .....fabulous i ordered chicken with prawns in lovely cream sauce with mash to die for. My husband gammon in honey sauce with proper home made chips first class. Manager who served us was professional and friendly super customer service.....planning next visit

The food was good and really decently priced. The staff are lovely. We visited on an evening, it had a nice atmosphere and wasn't too busy. Lovely decor. Overall it's a great local pub.

We had a table of 10 booked for 2’clock. When we received the Menu told no Beef left. Which is unbelievable when it serves until 4 clock. So ordered starters Prawn Cocktails Sorry no praw Cocktails left. So we skipped starters we waited 1 hour 15 minutes for a Sunday Lunch to be served. I don’t mind waiting normally but a few grumbles from other people spoil Meal.when we received it hardly any Vegtables 1 tiny spoon of Turnip 1 tiny floret of broccoli and 1 slice of a Carrot.The Food was not Hot. The Meat was also the smallest portion of Pork ever. It was no good complaining because packed out. Too Busy could not cope with large number of people in the place. Should book less people in so can give good quality. On the up Lovely Place and be worth trying when quiet.

We came here last week as part of a group of 13. As always with a big group, it can be time consuming to get people's orders together, and you kind of anticipate something being wrong or missing. However, when the food was brought to the table, I literally couldn't fault a single thing. Everything came, all of the orders were cooked as requested, the food was divine - everyone complimented the quality and portion sizes of the meals. The menu has a good variety of meals and sides, and the pricing is really good for the quality of the food served. It was so nice that my partner and I are coming back this week for date night!

Visited on Thursday night for the valentines menu. We booked as the menu looked impressive and we weren’t disappointed! Starters, mains and deserts were all beautiful as always. All food was of a fantastic quality and cooked to perfection!
