The Brighton Hotel in Brighton and Hove

They check the rooms at any time without telling you. I was there for two weeks and they came to me 6 or 7 times, obviously to hide it they said they had suspicions about x things in the last few days. In conclusion, small rooms, a lot of noise... And there is nothing that would bother you. See neither the photos nor positive reviews.

Old and very small rooms. Breakfast is extremely bad.

Constantly has trouble brewing outside with homeless people, shouting and swearing outside the hotel and up the streets disturbing the residents that live near by. Sort it out.

It's A great hotel the staff are always polite & helpful, if you need to know anything the hotel staff are always there to give you advice on where you can find things around the area.

At the moment its shut, alot of suspicious behaviour and regular police cars outside

I was very disappointed as good as the staff dealt with the situation my first room priced at £130 was a absolute mess the windows was screwed shut with rusty screws looked a mess the carpet was stained and the hose off the radiator was leaking causing a massive stain and his was response is “ we’re undergoing maintenance for a little while ” that’s no reason for a leaky radiator and the smell was horrific! Then he moved us too the second room witch was much better although Still had the stain on radiator at 10 o’clock at night all I needed was sleep but overall very very disappointed with my stay and I for sure will never ever use this hotel again and I do not recommend it to anybody else!!!

We stayed at The Brighton Hotel last night and I can honestly say it was the worst experience. It started by being greeted at reception with mass altercation between staff and 3 guests of the hotel. Although our receptionist was lovely and did apologise to us, the way they were dealing with the disgruntled customer was bad. At one point I think I heard the manager raise her voice! We got into our matchbox room and the whole bedroom was on a tilt to start with. The room was extremely tired with a funny smell, paint had chipped around the window and the loudest shower in the world. We went out for the day and upon our return our room key didnt work. Then, we had possibly the worst nights sleep ever. The wind was awful and albeit not the hotels fault but the window was rattling all night. My boyfriend was running the half marathon in the morning so wasnt ideal being awake ALL night. When we got up in the morning my right eye was swallon, the same as an allergic reaction. I can only put this down to extreme dust in the pillows or bed. The breakfast was ok but a pretty limited choice. When we checked out we fed all of the above back and got what felt meaningless "sorry'. Very disappointing all round

Sea fronted hotel currently having an exterior make over so scaffolding erected on the front . Booked for two nights single Room very tidy and my third floor room view to the sea came at a 7 o clock angle Only downside was a bit noisy from other guests on the first night For a base to what Brighton has to offer its practical thou abit out of the way for the shops. The British Airways i360 pod and very Good Restaurants ,a 4 minute walk away Wide choice for breakfast at the hotel Look forward to staying again .

Rooms Awful. Needs a massive refurbishment. Worst room I've seen in years. Dirty bed, dirty carpet. It's budget and nowhere near prices paid. Avoid.

Bit of a mixed bag. Inexpensive for a reason. Great location but the front seems to be under semi-permanent construction. You could see into the basement from the outside through cracks in the foundation. That was a bit troubling. Also, the lift wasn't working. Room small but not awful. Some maintenance issues. Appears that it had a renovation, say, 20 years ago and now they're trying to keep it going without much money or knowledge. Shower didn't drain, toilet roll holder broken, burn marks on the carpet, some carpet stains. Really, the whole place could use a significant renovation at this point. Breakfast was good. Nice strong coffee, freshish OJ, and my main was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon (in addition to a small buffet with cereal and toast) and it was perfect, along with a great view of the sea while eating. All that said, for £31 including breakfast I'd probably stay again.

Went here and was given a basement room with a view of a wall, to then realise there was a leak in the room and the curtains and floors damp. They moved us to another basement room which was only better as there was no leak. Staff were friendly though. Breakfast wasnt to my liking bacon tasted raw eggs were cold and the orange juice tasted like robinsons...

Avoid, avoid avoid! I booked a standard room from Agoda but was given a lousy basement room when arrived at the hotel. Have to pay extra to upgrade to the standard room that I entitled. The basement room is so terrible, and the way there is like an obstacle course with so many staircases up and down. Even for the standard rooms we have were not at lift level and my family have to drag our luggages up and down across 3-4 staircases. Small toilet, toilet door can’t close fully and slanted room floor( as if the building is going to collapse). The only good thing about the hotel is probably the breakfast. I’ll never go back again.

Nice place, courteous and dutiful staff. My room got really cold at night though. Breakfast was also good. The hotel was a walking distance from the Brighton Centre.

Birthday celebration stay. All staff are pleasant helpful friendly and polite. Only criticism is that the room we were in had a smallish bathroom. Bit tight for those that are on the large size.

Spent my honeymoon here and we go back every year for our anniversary.

Very nice young assistants and very helpful couldn't do enough for me or my dog knowing I had my dog couldn't go into breakfast room brought all out to foyer and even gave my dog an extra sausage thanks Brighton hotel

Hotel situato fronte mare, per accedere alla spiaggia bisogna solo attraversare la strada. L'edificio é sicuramente molto vecchio (attualmente vi sono lavori sulla facciata) ma estremamente pulito e tenuto in ordine. Stanza ok, rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo in considerazione anche della location. Ottima la colazione. Un'ottima soluzione per soggiornare a Brighton in ottima posizione senza svenarsi...

Not sure where to start about this awful hotel. I suppose parking first. I arrived in an estate car and parked on the front of the hotel. I was told by the staff I can’t park on the front as my car was too big AND it went over the marked parking bays. I have numerous pictures of the others cars parked NOT in the bays correctly. There was however a large Jeep with a French number plate parked on the front incorrectly. As I only just squeezed in going forward with a few inches to spare I asked if one of the cars parked incorrectly could be moved so I could drive out forwards, the staff where not interested in this option. I complained about their unhelpfulness. I was also told if I leave my car on the front I would be charged £150 for removing it. Whilst the parking issue was being discussed, the manager I think told me I would be given my money back and to be out of the room in 10 minutes. BEWARE Make sure you have a backup hotel if you book this one or you could be out on the street. The room was ok, though I never got to use it. The window in the room was absolutely disgustingly dirty. I have never met such unhelpful staff and I stay in a hotel generally about once a week. Awful experience Date of stay: September 2019

Don't expect luxurious rooms or a delicious breakfast, but for the price the hotel is actually great value. The staff were all very welcoming and the hotel is in a great location on the seafront and near the conference centre. Would definitely recommend this place

The hotel and rooms are filthy. The staff just don’t care and are unhelpful. Ruined my trip to Brighton, wish I had stayed at home. This place is lower quality than a flea ridden hostel.

What can I say. A small shabby cold room with a frosted sash window. Cheap shabby furniture painted brown. Peeling paint. Have a feeling it may have been a store room before they put a bathroom in there. Once you left reception it was grubby in a lot of places. Dreadful, really dreadful. Cost over £200 for 1 night. It was our wedding night and we could NOT stay there it was so bad.

Dont bother dirty, run down, breakfast awful wouldn't stay here again and defiantly wouldn't recommend it.

As expected for price. Not very high quality, but you get what you pay for. Staff were friendly, particularly in the restaurant. Hotel could do with some TLC but it’s clean and a great location.

I will mention the very helpful hospitality staff, G. She was very efficient in her duty of settling us in.

Great place and reasonably priced

One star only for the view which was obstructed by scaffolding which has been in place for months (from pictures and reviews -still no renovation has been done). Windows were so dirty that they looked like noone has ever cleaned them. We paid extra £25 for bringing our small dog with us. I can only comment on the room which was given to us: Room very dated and in need of complete renovation. This room should not be used for guests ! Staff not very friendly. The receptionist did not know what she was doing. She told us the wrong time for checking out and did not warn about scaffolding. Do not stay here! Pay an extra £5 or stay few meters further away from the beach but do not stay here! I will not be staying again and I would not recommend.

We were very skeptical staying here after reading the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Brighton hotel! We stayed for 3 nights, the room (311) we stayed in was clean and must have been recently renovated as room was modern and bathroom was lovely with a bath. There is scaffolding up currently but this doesn’t block the sea view up massively. We found breakfast okay with a good options to chose from however we found we waited a while for order to be taken. We would stay here again.

Lage ist traumhaft, Ausstattung ausreichend, an sich etwas in die Jahre gekommen, Renovierungsarbeiten im Gange (Gerüst, Putz fällt von der Fassade) wurde bei der Reservierung nicht erwähnt, Aufzug sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig (sackt ab), für zwei Übernachtungen ganz ok, Zimmer in Ordnung leider ohne Meerblick, Parkplätze vor der Türe vorhanden allerdings eher für kleine Autos geeignet (kleiner als VW Golf), Parkgebühr für 24h £18, zusätzlich müssen beim Check in £50 als eine Art Kaution hinterlegt werden, Personal teilweise freundlich

Dusty room, dirty carpet, dirty windows and curtains. Small breakfast. Rooms are small, get very hot. Room wasn't serviced during 2 night stay. Bathroom and toilet were ok. If this was a 1 star budget room it would be acceptable but considers itself a 3 star uk destination and comes below the standard.

Give this place two stars, was in a good spot beach facing. Was scaffolding all around did not get informed before final payment room was musky and had damp around windows carpet was very stained and noticed they had cut a square from carpet and replaced it with carpet from under the bed we had a nice view but was restricted because the scaffolding. Room and bathroom needs a little tlc... But was in perfect destination for what we needed. Had a cook breakfast which was very small 1 sausage 1 bacon, half of a tomato, few muchrooms also charge you extra 5 if you want extras.

Dirty outdated motel, stay away!!!

Dreadful breakfast and one of the reception staff was most unhelpful. Our bedroom floor had a distinct slope ... bed comfortable, however and toiletries acceptable. Room stuffy, both windows whited out and could only open a little for ventilation. Alex Polizzi needs to take this establishment in hand 🙁.

DO NOT USE!!! WORST Hotel & Customer service experience in years!! This hotel was awful. Room was disgusting. Management refused refund, demanded I paid for upgrade. Refused to let me speak to higher management. Then refused to let me stay/refund due to making complaint and trying to ring the company that owns hotel (Lowy Group). Security (outside company) even tried to help and ended up getting me a discounted stay at another hotel, they were disgusted with way was treated. Honestly never been so disgusted with what were meant to be management, the assistant manager started being rude and sarcastic and arguing with security after they told her was no need to speak to me in that manner. GM apparently told them over phone to refuse my stay yet wouldn't speak to me on the phone and told them not to refund me for my stay despite my room being different to one I booked and dirty, stunk of damp, had black mold in multiple areas, stained bedsheets.

Small room but very clean value for money would stay there again

Stayed for a week, friendly staff, clean rooms, bar down stairs. Breakfast everyday, loverly place.

We stayed here for our honeymoon last weekend , the room was not what we quite expected but it was ok as we only used it to sleep , the hotel was querky which is what we like , the bar was lovely , we had a few drinks in there , and the restaurant was nice too , the breakfast was realy good , would definitely go back again , hopefully for our one year wedding.anniversary would definitely go back .

Staff really helpful but room was small and very dated. Shower was fairly powerful but even with door shut leaked water all over the floor. Parking was very limited and costly where possible with the building work going on.

Ein Hotel in 1. Reihe... die Lage ist unschlagbar und perfekt! Das Hotel und die Zimmer an sich sind in die Jahre bekommen, was man an allen Ecken und Enden merkt... aber seit Juli 2019 beginnen Renovierungsarbeiten und das Hotel wird sowohl von innen- als auch von aussen auf Vordermann gebracht! Das Personal ist super nett, die Zimmer immer ordentlich! Die Bedienung beim Frühstück ist leider etwas verpeilt... vergessenen Bestellungen, unkoordiniert... Aber nichts was man nicht verbessern kann. Daher 4 Sterne, da die Lage perfekt ist, der Preis okay und das Personal super nett!

Poor standard. Grubby room.mix up on the room on arrival. Had to move rooms etc... . Plus side was a good location.

Hotel was a pure melting point to my getaway, the toilet wouldn't flush, there room wasn't dusted, the toilet paper was replaced but not on the holder, the coffee machine didn't work, the stairs were covered in dog hair, breakfast was cold I asked for replacement and it was colder then the 1st, smell of damp in my room, I booked a King sea view that was obstructed with scaffolding and there was no prior notice of works on hotel. The staff tried to stick me with a bar tab that I didn't even drink. Not worth the time nor the money, do not use this hotel.

Well. Underconstruction outside when we arrived. Room small stuffy couldn't open the windows had a portable fan that was on all the time. Bed completely not level had to pack it with towels and a foldable chair to make it level. Our stay was short. The shower drain plug was on the upside of the shower tray the water never drained from it. Wouldn't recommend for a long stay. Staff very friendly.

Das Hotel steht direkt an der Strandpromenade. Leider ist es schon etwas renovierungs- und modernisierungsbedürftig. Das Mobiliar ist alt und die Fenster stark undicht. Für eine Nacht war's okay.

Abgewohntes Hotel Renovierung im gange Davon wurde bei der Reservierung aber nichts erwehnt Hat die besten Zeiten hinter sich Zimmer sauber aber teilweise funktioniert nicht alles Zimmer mit Meerblick wurden durch ein Gerüst verstellt aber der volle Aufpreis verrechnet Hoteleigener Parkplatz wurde auch durch das Gerüst eingeschränkt

Well worth a visit however I was in the basement and it was very cold in the morning. But I will definitely be back there again.

Cracked sink.old mattress.we were on 2nd floor.staircase was full of dust in the corners.parking is first come first served.only 6 spaces.

We have a receipt that says £74 but have been charged £84😬 The rooms were freezing and draughty. They ran out if coke in the bar.

The rooms are very very dated the bathroom was like a hospital bathroom very scary white and very clinical .The room was very cold and had to ask for extra heater no water in the room bar wasn't 24/7 the restaurant prices were overpriced and ridiculously

Altes aber schönes Hotel direkt an der Strandpromenade und nicht weit von der Innenstadt entfernt. Zimmer mit Meerblick sind schön, jedoch wie in dem meisten Hotels am Standort laut - Hauptverkehrsstraße direkt davor. Der Boden knarzt, es ist sehr hellhörig und nicht neu, aber hat durchaus Charme. Frühstück ist sehr britisch und durchaus okay. Im großen und ganzen durchaus zu empfehlen für einen kurzen Aufenthalt, gerade wenn das Budget etwas schmaler ist.

A very pleasant hotel. Old school but clean and friendly. Car park on site is a little bit cramped but then I am driving a large van. Small cars etc would be OK.

The window's within our room were so poor that it sounded like that they were open. The staff really didn't seem to care when we informed them. The breakfast was below average for the price, you can get better value for money elsewhere. Overall, disappointing stay at the hotel you could get much better quality at other local hotels and B&B's.

Lift wasn't working, kitchen closed so had to go out in storm for dinner. Barmaid Erika was the only really welcoming staff. Room was ok and comfortable. Parking a ripoff everywhere. No longer as nice as it use to be. Even other guests were pretty unfriendly.

Been frequenting this hotel almost monthly now days for a couple of days away from London. Staff are attentive, rooms are mostly up to a good standard. Lift a bit cranky, so I tend to use the stairs where possible. Breakfast is average fare. Bar and lounge downstairs offer great views of the seafront, the old Pier and the bandstand. Bar offers comfortable seating and a good selection of drinks, nice to sit down there in the evening and watch the sunset. All in all reasonably priced accommodation and of a decent standard.

Es ist ein in die Jahre gekommenes aber trotzdem angenehmes Hotel. Wenn man damit klarkommt das der Boden knarzt und auch ein wenig schief ist, das vielleicht hie und da ein paar Risse im Putz sind und auch hie und da die Farbe abblättert, der findet angenehme Betten, netten Service, ein gutes Frühstück und massenhaft altehrwürdigen englischen Charme. Zudem liegt es schön zentral direkt am Strand und man ist in ein paar Minuten zu Fuß überall wo es wichtig ist

Always a favourite place of ours. Staff can't help you enough. Comfy rooms cosy atmosphere. Relaxing little bar with nice view. Breakfast always a treat and when serving meals they are good too. Overall a relaxing place nothing fancy but still my favourite.
