Wow ! Oriental Takeaway you have excelled yourself ! We had a family gathering so placed a large order via the website. The website is clear and very easy to use. The food turned up hot and at the time we pre-ordered it for which, considering it was such a large order impressed me. The Chicken Balls are huge and were very succulent. All the other dishes were tasty and cooked to perfection apart from the lemon chicken which was a little dry. We have definitely found our new go-to chinese !

This is a great value classic British Chinese takeaway. Food always feels fresh and is never swimming with grease. And we've always had pretty fast service.

My favourite chinese takeaway. The chilli aubergine, sweet and sour chicken annd Chinese chopsuey are delicious. Great prices too.

Ordered as I've heard many people talk about this as being the best Chinese takeaway in Brighton. Delivery driver was very friendly, food arrived in OK time (about an hour) but the food just wasn't very good. The special fried rice arrived as steamed rice with some sort of sauce on it, egg fried rice was also just steamed rice (unfair since it's more expensive). Rest of food was a bit underseasoned, only the salt and pepper aubergine was good. Won't use again sadly

This place is my favourite in Brighton, so many vegan options that are so yummy. I always get the sweet and sour beancurd and the vegan chicken satay skewers and they are just so tasty. The girl who does the counter is great and works extremely hard, she always reads back your order to make sure it’s correct too. The chefs are very speedy but still cook too perfection, I go pick my food up myself as I’m local and I often always get it within 5 minutes of ordering! They do 10% off for students too! Could not recommend enough:)

This place isn't as good as it was a year back. It's great they have several vegan options but the food ordered was disappointing, so dry. The salt and pepper tofu seemed to be old, not sure how many days it's been sitting there. If it's done right it doesn't need sauce but it was so bland and dry it was inedible. The veggie skewers are ok but the amount of sauce is too tight. Hope they can come back to their former glory some day!

This is my favorite Chinese takeaway restaurant in Brighton. I'm a vegetarian and they have by far the best selection of veg-friendly fare of any place aside from maybe Planet India (100% veg). Let's get one thing straight... this is not fine dining, this is takeaway food. From some of the reviews here, I'm not quite sure what they were expecting. Yes, there are probably some marginally cheaper options, but you get what you pay for. I especially recommend the Salt and Chili Beancurd, Beancurd with Broccoli, and Baby Pak Choi with Garlic Sauce, but you can't go wrong really. I'm more of a beancurd (tofu) guy myself, but if you're after mock meats they have plant based chicken, beef, duck, etc. I almost always collect in-person so can't comment on delivery times, but in my experience they get the food out to me quickly. I'm thankful this place around because most of the competition is sub-par, to put it mildly.

This is our favourite restaurant in Brighton, we order regularly and is our take-away of choice. We even had this as our anniversary dinner and it was delicious. It also keeps well, and delivers fast so order plenty and enjoy some left overs the next day!

Starters were great, duck was great...but.... The crispy chilli beef none of us could eat (tasted weird). Had to throw away. Kung pao chicken was battered deep fried chicken with half a teaspoon of sauce and a few water chestnuts. Missing sauce, chilis, peppers, spring onions, nuts. i.e. it was missing flavour. Special fried rice wasn't fried (missing the 'wok hei' that gives it taste). Was basically boiled rice with peas and chicken mixed in). Won't order again.

The food here is amazing. I ordered a Cantonese pork with BBQ sauce with chow mien the other day and it got delivered within 45 minutes as they said an hour. Driver very polite and the lady on the counter is very friendly. Highly recommended take away

This is an amazing takeaway, the food is exceptional and everyone is absolutely lovely there. Vegan accommodated very easily, lovely!

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken balls only and they're pretty expensive compared to other takewaways. Though they are substantial in size and with a good amount of meat so that's fine. But you only get 1 small pot of sauce for 10 big chicken balls. Given the price that's pretty stingy. Ended up running out of sauce and having to buy more from the supermarket.

The best vegan options I’ve seen in a takeaway anywhere, the vegan chicken balls were great! Good value for money for brighton, weight time was only 15mins but they didn’t say on the email confirmation which would have been very useful

These people have just scammed us! Incomplete order and then called my husband a liar! I hear my husband order gluten free for my daughter! It was not delivered. Unfortunately my husband didn't check the order and trusted the delivery was correct so paid . How can a pot if rice cost £13!!! Do not purchase from here. They call you liars! Disgusting people. Please note this was not the delivery person fault. It was the take away manager. No wonder they only take cash. Scammers.

It was ok apart from waiting nearly 2 hours for the food and when I phone to ask where it is the staff are rude

Normally really good. Today we were missing 2 items and had to wait over an hour to receive them, and despite numerous calls to the restaurant to chase it we were repeatedly told to wait 20 minutes. Food eventually arrived, lukewarm.

My go to takeaway!! There is soo many vegan options, I’ve been ordering from there for over a year and not tried everything yet.

Used them for years then went to China star for the last 3 as they nose dived in the quality of the food the service was horrendous and the clueless girl behind the counter was caught out lying to customers infront of me while I was in collecting one night, but that’s another story Anyway, went back a couple of times over this Christmas and always go by my rule of 3, 3 chance and your gone, well they have had there 3 chances as after last night I won’t be back again, let’s be honest chinese is an expensive takeaway at best, and wasting over £150 over Christmas with them to have on 4 occasions eaten the most bland,dry and tasteless beef chow mien I have ever had . You could literally pull the beef out and smash a window with it. I was going to call up and complain but after biting into it and smashing my front teeth out I didn’t see the point. As per China star review can anyone suggest a decent Chinese in brighton that actually cooks a beef chow mien with beef and not leather ?

Great value for money and good vegan options, especially for people missing those old indulgences like chicken balls, crispy beef, satay chicken etc. I'm.not vegan myself but will happily share with others. Food ordered last night was really tasty and good amounts of meats/prawns in my curry.

I order the veggie selection for a number of years.. They never disappoint.. Fast fresh and friendly service.. Since I found them I do not order from elsewhere..

The Chop Suey is literally just a pile of bean sprouts in salty water with a couple raw white onions. Peanut Sauce on the Satay seemed like it was mixed with Hoisin Sauce maybe? Genuinely one of the worst meals I've ever had.

This place is awesome from the first time with my personal order off menu they now know what I want as I walk in :) always friendly and always fast!

Lots of veggie and vegan options. I loved the crispy "beef" and "duck" pancakes. Meateater friends enjoyed their food, too.

Great food!! This Chinese restaurant is the best for vegan options, they use wheat flour in their noodles so the chow mein is a great option. If you’re into fake meats then it’s fantastic and the veg always seems fresh. The prices are also really reasonable, especially compared to many other Brighton take always. The fact this place has anything but 5 stars is crazy

delivery driver was so RUDE NOT HAPPY

This use to be a good takeaway, however the standard has dropped considerably. The food we recieved was flavourless and im sure it was not fresh and just leftovers heated up from the night before.

Been coming to this place for years, but the food quality has gone down hill in the last year. Kept thinking it was a one off and gave them the benefit of the doubt, but when I spent over £70 on the last order, I can honestly tell you that’s the last penny I shall be spending there.

The most mid Chinese take away. Tastes a bit better when baked but then you look at the food and deep what it looks like and then all you can think about all night is what you ate

Ordered from this place for several times, however the quality got worse and worsen. For first time, we ordered less spicy for 2 dishes, it came both of them extra chilies instead. We barely could finish them just to not waste food. Gave another go for second time, we ordered the same thing and asked for less spicy again. When we phoned them, they did confirm to make it less spicy unlike last time, but no action taken. Seems like they don’t really care about customers requests. For the 3rd time and probably the last, we ordered something else and hope for some improvements. It turned out we would not recommend their rib dishes. They used to do quality meaty ribs and obviously not anymore. They gave us some burnt and dry ribs which were disgusting and so chewy. It’s time for us to change our regular Chinese take away. Not worth paying and receiving such bad experiences and service. I hope to see their improvements.

Great food awful delivery times and service sometimes almost 2hour wait

Just received my order after 1hr and 35 mins, nice food but delivery is unreliable when it takes this long. Probably won’t use again

I can't knock the food, very nice. But the delivery time is a nightmare, especially on a Friday or Saturday, I waited nearly 2hr last Friday.

I ordered food which came very late . The number they used to initially call me never picked up when I called back and the company line was constantly busy. Though the food was nice.

2 hours later no food and lies that it was being delivered. 5 days still later no refund. 16 days later still no response to emails or pay Pal refund request. Months later case closed by them with no refund for no food and no contact. Small claims court to recover money. AVOID. 4 months later will have to resolve to small claims court as they will not respond.

Victoria that works behind the counter is a star, super helpful, made sure all of our dishes were vegan and answered all questions super competently. All vegetarian dishes are vegan but the rice dishes have egg in them so don’t forget to ask w/ no egg (we didn’t remember but Victoria did). Food is 10/10, my favourite is the veggie crispy duck and the chicken balls :))

First time ordering from here last night, food arrived within 40 mins piping hot and was very tasty. Will definitely be using this takeaway again.

It’s been ages since I actually had a decent Chinese takeaway. service was absolutely fatalistic, food was delicious and fresh, this would be my favourite takeaway now!!

Hands down the best Chinese Takeaway in the area. Food is always delicious, cannot fault it, have only ever had really great food from this place.

Where's my beer? Their website stated that if you spend £35 or more you get free prawn crackers or a beer. AFTER A TWO HOUR WAIT, when the beer didn't arive I called the resturant to let them know and they informed us that the offer was £38! Rather than say sorry, they actually changed their website and tried to make out like it was £38 all along. Well, Google keeps a cache of your website, which we've attached. Just rotten lying and terrible customer service!

I think it depends on who takes the order on the service you receive. Younger generation good to deal with, older generation not so! Food is very good. Do a fantastic quick meal option. Smaller size portion served with rice! Most of the time are flexible with options but again it depends on who takes the order.... If left to the younger, more customer focused generation would be 5* Delivery does take a little longer than normal but it's not normal times....

I've used this takeaway for many years. I rate it very highly and would recommend. The honey spare ribs and the sesame prawn toast delicious!

I'm a big fan of this place for delivery, quick and efficient, and the food is delicious. Noodle and stir fry dishes have plenty of fresh and tasty veg and generous portions, or for something more decadant try the fried squid!

Ordered food at 6.45pm , Currently 8.15pm & no food! Called 41 times before I got an answer & when I did the lady was so rude and not apologetic at all. Said it will be another 45 minutes!!! I asked for a refund and she said in 2 days! Then when I said I’ll wait for the food she said “we’ll make up your mind do you want a refund or your food” never going to order from here again. Shame as the food is good but plenty more Chinese takeaway’s in Brighton.

We ordered some food from here on Sunday and sadly, despite the whole order specifying vegan options, they gave us chicken instead of mushrooms. When I phoned to tell them, the woman was not apologetic and said “what do you want me to do”... and then offered to refund me the item (£2.50) which is not really good enough in my opinion. My husband and I are both vegan for ethical reasons so it was not a pleasant experience. If you are vegan I’d recommend avoiding if you want peace of mind.

Was told they couldn’t find me or bother to ring me to deliver food but don’t worry they’ll come back after they done other drop offs first so would of been with them 45+mins. Cancelled order they where so rude too. Hope my £40 order fitted in your bin nicely.

So many vegan options! Loved the vegan crispy shredded beef and chicken less balls tasted just like the real thing.

Veggie ‘duck’ pancakes are incredible! Best version I’ve ever had. Chow mein wasn’t greasy and the Malaysian curry was SO tasty. Not too oily not greasy. Will 100% order again

Not very nice. I didn't even like the rice. Maybe it is better to stick with the veggie options as I see a few reviews saying how nice vegan options are. I won't be ordering again.

The crispy shredded beef from the chefs special was ok however the noodles were dry and cold, as if they came out of am instant noodle packet. In general every thing tasted and looked very unfresh. disappointed:(

We've ordered from here for years. The vegetarian selection is fantastic (and the best in Brighton as far as we're aware), and the meat is good too. Always great service, always a lovely meal. Highly recommended!

Had a great experience with them last night. Came within 35mins. Food was piping hot. Tasted great. Brilliant mock meat for veggies. I was recommended this place then worried once I read these reviews. However it was great, highly recommend, will order again! :-D

We’ve used this takeaway for years since living close by. The food was always decent, ordering online was a bonus and the delivery was always prompt. Seems it’s changed hands and the above is no longer the case. The food is now mediocre at best and the delivery time is awful, we waited 1hr45mins for our order, this has been consistent for the past couple of orders. Find somewhere else to order from, we sadly now are.

If you're veggie and wish you could enjoy all the nice things that Chinese food has to offer then this is the place for you. In our experience the service has always been excellent and the orders correct and tasty. Thanks Oriental takeaway you rock!

This place is not good at all ordered here last night and all night I was up with diarrhea they call them self 5 star but if i can do no star I would Never order here again I would recommend Kums or chopsticks but they was closed The satay chicken was hard and had bones in my other dish with hardly no meat Dodgy place

Absolutely disgusting service. Orderd at 5pm and called at 1830 to find out where my order was. They "thought" another 30 min but couldn't guarantee, I asked for a refund as I'd payed by paypal but they couldn't give me one until closing time....it was a big order for a family meal...result being very unhappy children! AVOID AND DO NOT USE!

Ordered from here at 6pm, currently 9 15 and i still havent received my food. The wait is the least of the problems considering i called at 7 and 8 to be told it has been out for delivery. the drive is 10 minutes. update: I've just spoken to them at half 9 to have it confirmed my order was not accepted despite the lies i had been told of it being delivered. giving the benefit of the doubt as a long standing customer i said id be happy to accept the food if the refund was processed on the basis of the lies and it being over 3 hours. i was offered one or the other so needless to say i took the refund off of principle

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. ordered a full vegetarian meal, they messed up the order food was cold and they sent chicken. after calling to rearrange delivery of our actual item, the girl on the phone was SO rude and asked me “what do you want me to do about it?”. she offered 10% refund. the owner redelivered our correct item and said that i could have a full refund if i gave him back all the food to which i asked what he would do with it? if he would resell it. he told me he would throw it in the bin and i can have a refund. diabolical customer service. i will no longer be recommending or ordering from here.

Should have read last reviews.. we use this takeaway for more than 5 years food used to be good, but ordered today but the food tasted disgusting!!! Ordered Salt and chilli Squids they arrived without salt and chilli, we put a Note to specify allergy to Onions and do not to put any onions in our food as per last 5years and our food was full of onions they ignored our allergic reactions!! Disgusting !!! Even the prawn crackers tasted like vomit!!!! Will never order from this place again for the rest of my life !!!! If I could give less than one star I would have!!

Greasy food, with little taste and over an hour wait for delivery. I don't know if it's changed hands but it is not as good as it used to be.

Shouted at me on the phone even when I was being nice and apologetic because 1. I couldn't answer my phone due to no signal and 2. They couldn't find where I live. Will not be ordering from them again. Nothing but rude and do not deserve anyone's money.

The food has always been good but the most awful service. Our food is now nearly an hour and a half late and when we call they keep hanging up and refusing a refund. They are no longer answering the phone. Very disappointing as we’ve been loyal customers for a while.

Food took an hour and a half to arrive and was cold! Never ordering from here again. If you don’t have the infrastructure to handle orders don’t be in business. The food was over done. This was a massive disappointment.

Used to be amazing food and service. Food is still good but service is diabolical. Last few orders have been incorrect, last time I went in there the cashier took about 15 minutes to acknowledge my existence and this time when I called to say they had sent me the wrong food I was told I was a liar! 10 years of custom ends today.
