The Brigadier Gerard in Eastleigh

Fabulous roast lamb dinner! The meat just fell off the bone, and the accompaniments were delicious. Would have preferred a slightly lower level of lighting for the atmosphere, but then that's just me, I suspect. Can't wait to go again.

Popped in for a drink and ended up having dinner. Very welcoming and food was great. Homemade fish pie was delicious. Nice selection of real ales. Recommend a visit.

Lovely food as always and very friendly staff. Went with a party of 12, pre-ordered the food, given the choice to change on arrival, and all got just what we'd ordered.

Stopped here for lunch after doing some errands in the area and remembering it had a good reputation a few years ago. Lovely menu, not fussy but something for everyone and whether you're after something to keep you going until dinner or more substantial. We both opted for the toasted cheese sandwiches, Croque Monsieur for my wife and Croque Madam for me. They arrived piping hot and freshly prepared with a hearty portion of fries and a nice little side salad. I like toasted sandwiches, a lot, this was the best one I've had in my 44 years! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Monsieur too. Service was warm and friendly, good selection of ales on tap and will definitely return 👍

Brigadier Gerrard was a fantastic choice for dinner. We arrived without a reservation, but they were accommodating and found us a table right away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. For dessert, we indulged in a heavenly Biscoff cheesecake. We were thoroughly impressed with the service and would highly recommend Brigadier Gerrard to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We had the wake after my Nans funeral at the pub and it was lovely from the point of booking to the whole day. The pub had a separate area for our family and friends. The pub was really well presented and clean and the whole team made sure that we had everything we needed. There was plenty of food and it was delicious as well. It really helped us feel like we said a proper goodbye to our nan.

Very nice pub! We're greated by a very friendly lady. Only stopped by for a drink and sat in the garden which was very nice. Food being served to others looked good so would like to return and try it.

We visited brigadier Gerard on 12/9/24 which we go regularly, do love the food as never had a problem before,but on this occasion we decided to have the Eton mess for dessert which was very disappointing can honestly say there was no meringue what so ever and very little cream it was like eating very cold berries in yogurt, and at £7.95 per SMALL portion. We did complain while their and the girl who was serving us apologised and was lovely. Next time I’ll make sure I stick with the sticky toffee pud as that is always excellent.

Very disappointing. They may have full table service but it’s not a restaurant. Their floors are not just dirty but filthy, their service is very poor (very slow (on a number of occasions I had to go and look for someone), incompetent, clueless) and as if that wasn’t bad enough, their prices are exorbitant. They’re a little ridiculous, caught between a very nice restaurant’s prices but yet a typical pub's decor and “feel”. The combination simply does not justify the prices. The portion sizes aren't even that good either. Pretty on the outside with the nice flowers and all but there are a number of nicer (proper) restaurants I’d rather go to (that, to be honest, would probably cost less) before I’d go to the Brigadier Gerard again. Sorry, but I simply cannot recommend this pub in good conscience.

Great little pub with decent food selection and friendly service

The food was very tasty but extremely hot to eat. I burnt my mouth at first bite .I had the chicken and mushroom pasta.My husband had the fish pie. If food is too hot it's not enjoyable to eat and you don't really want to sit with a plate of food in front of you waiting for it to cool down. Having said that it hasn't put us off visiting again . The pub is very clean and a good atmosphere. I would advise to book as it's a very busy place.We were fortunate to get the last table for 40 minutes.

Popped in for a quick pint it appears it is all restaurant now so no bar sitting area.

Went online to look at the menus. They look good WHY are there no prices displayed? You expect me to just turn up without knowing how much I am going to spend? you are joking?

Really enjoyed it here with top quality food and service. Maybe a bit on the pricey side but get what you pay for.

Superb service by Phil and the team, great atmosphere and most importantly, great home cooked food served and being a veggie, there is plenty of choice!!

Gorgeous place - we’ve had dinner here every time we’ve visited the area now and never been disappointed. We’ve tried the ham egg and chips, steak burger (which was to die for!) and spicy pizza! All fresh and delicious. Wine superb and service was truly exceptional. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. And we finally got to try a dessert last night- sticky toffee pudding! Absolutely amazing!!!!!

What can I say - the pub itself is lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The menu is great as it offers 2 different portion sizes for a number of dishes which is ideal for those with smaller or larger appetites. (I can recommend the lasagna!). Will definitely go back there if I'm in the area again.

Viisted and eaten here many times before, met friends here last night, unfortunately the local area had suffered a power cut and half the pub was in darkness. The kitchen had power, we had an excellent meal the staff pulled out all the stops to make our 'candle light' meal a memorable experience with their friendly and attentive approach.

Took our mum for a celebratory 97th birthday lunch. Staff were very cheerful and accommodating, especially giving us a table where she could stay in her wheelchair. Food was very good.

Becoming our new local. We recently moved to fair oak. Came again tonight, 2nd time in 3 months. The staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful ( two young girls in the restaurant who served us) the staff even went out of their way to tell me about the gin i had. The food was stunning and came out so quickly. Big portions as well. Will definitely be our pub of choice from now on :)

Very busy but thats nice to see as too many pubs seem to be closing down. I had lunch with a friend so nothing Christmassy. I had scampi and chips and they had Ham,Egg and chips and both of us had clean plates. It was nice and we would come back again.

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and what I saw of the food well... It looked very appetising.

Delicious food, comfy restaurant, lovely staff

This was my first visit and I had a lovely lunchtime meal here with a friend who has eaten here a number of times. The food was nicely presented and very tasty, with good portion sizes. Service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was good and the restaurant was quite busy. We arrived just before midday opening and there were quite a few spaces in the carpark, although some were underwater due to heavy rain. All in all a good visit and I'm sure we'll be back soon.

BEAUTIFUL PIE, PROPPER HOME MADE. MY WIFE HAD THE BURGER AND CHIPS, HOME MADE AS WELL. THE WIFE COULD NOT EAT IT ALL, SO HOME FOR LATER. THE STAFF WAS BRILLIANT AND THE PUB HAS A VERY FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE.

We've been to this pub a few times. They always do good food and we've always liked it, it's just a bit of an awkward walk to get to from where we live if you don't feel like driving. (Thanks eastleigh council for not giving us paths!) I think we will make more of an effort to visit more after today's visit. We adopted a dog with separation anxiety this year, so we have to take her everywhere with us. So dog friendly pubs are a blessing. The team at the Brigadier Gerard were so welcoming to us and our dog, she loved the attention she got and everyone seemed to love her! Thanks for making us feel so welcome. Our dog especially loved the chicken fresh out the kitchen. 😅 I'm sure she agrees it's worth the walk along the road without a path! We will be back to have food soon. Thanks for the hospitality!

It was our 20th Anniversary Friday 3rd of November. We were staying at marwell hotel. We booked at another pub however, when we arrived we were told the kitchen was closed! So we got back it the car and went looking for another place to have a meal. This place hit the spot perfectly! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect the music everything was perfect. Sarah and Verity were lovely and we were given a free drink from the manager to toast our Anniversary. They really saved our night. Thankyou ever so much. The next time we are in the area we will be back.

We had a large group for lunch and were catered for very well. Very attentive and quick service. I’ve never been here before but will definitely be returning. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was amazing.

I had a lovely evening with school friends. A nice table, nice surroundings and very nice staff who did a great job. However, Brigadier Gerard, I'm sorry to say that my food was terrible. I ordered cheesy nachos (main meal) I think from memory about £16. This came and it was a dinner plate full of tortilla chips (not very good ones) which had quite tasteless cheese melted into it until it formed a hard and impenetrable frisbee. On top was some type of chilli flavoured ketchup and a bit of white which I would not describe as sour cream. There was some raw onion and coriander... and that was it! You obviously couldn't cut it, and going in with fingers was equally unsuccessful, so I had to leave most of it, it was unpleasant. I decided to cheer myself up with a dessert and ordered Eton mess. This was a bowl of strawberry ice cream with some still frozen berries in it, a very small sprinkling of meringue, not even a mouthful, and some squirty cream on top. The quality again very disappointing and not an enjoyable meal. I think maybe my friends' burgers we're slightly better, but my meal was certainly very poor and I paid £30 for this on a shared bill, we were all drinking lime and soda and other soft drinks. I drove home for some food. If you could improve on the food then it would have been such a lovely experience and, as said earlier, the staff were great.

Me and my family visited today for our 50th wedding anniversary and were made very welcome by all the extremely friendly staff, as we were when we also celebrated my 70th birthday there back in July. The food was well cooked and plentiful. Thank you so much for making both occasions so enjoyable. Dave Wendy and family.

The second time we have been here under the different management. This pub richly deserves a 5 star review. Excellent all round.

The roast dinner was very tasty with plenty of roast pork, but the roasties were like boiled potatoes! They were cut quite large which didn't give them time to brown and crisp. The rest of the dinner was great. 👍

Sunny October Sunday lunch enjoyed very much. Staff all smashing - courteous and helpful.

It's a really nice place for a lunchtime get-together for our family with excellent food, and they allow well-behaved dogs in.

We had a good meal and decent beer, only slight grouse was that the desserts took longer to come than expected, it shouldn't take long at all to serve ice cream!

Clearly this pub is set up for customers who are eating and has an excellent menu and the food being served looked very good. Called in solely for a drink and unfortunately the beer on offer was not to my liking and clearly preference was being given to customers who wanted a drink with their meal

An absolute gem of a find whilst visiting Southampton. If you want good quality pub grub with great service and a fab atmosphere, the Brigadier will tick all the boxes!

Love going to the Brigadier Gerard. The range of food is not extensive but what they have on the menu and their specials is cooked well and is tasty. Ideal for those with smaller appetites some of their meals are available in smaller portion sizes, bigger than a children's meal but not as big as a full portion. Nice drop of 6x rounded out the meal for me and the wonderful Garden delighted the elderly lady whose birthday we were celebrating.

We were there with about thirty people for a wake. The staff were excellent and the food was great.

Friendly warm welcome with treats for our two dogs. We had five different meals, all of which were delicious, hot and very generous portions. Pleasant staff, all with ready smiles and a true wish to bring us a happy dining experience. Can’t wait to go back and try some of the other delicious-looking options on the menu! The sharing fish platter was excellent. And I really enjoyed the fish pie. I had the smaller portion, but they also offer a larger one, which is a really good feature.

Won't be returning! Bar staff took their time to serve. Not overly friendly either. Previously we had a lovely meal and the waitress was great, however on spending £25 on a bottle of wine on 2 occasions after with not great service, we won't come back. Not welcoming...shame really but heh plenty of other nice pubs around....cest la vie

Lovely garden to have few drinks, had nice bit of food, worth a visit friendly staff. Only criticism was starter portion of calamari was very small even for a starter but was very nice.

Went for lunch with a friend last week,and was very warmly welcomed by a lady that served us. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the food. I would throughly recommend and look forward to going back with my husband .

Waitress was friendly and the food and beer were really good. Will visit again.
