Very good menu for 2 course Sunday lunch. Although busy, we were served relatively quickly, very attentive staff and our complements go to Jade, who served us with a beautiful smile everytime! Thank you Jade for a memorable meal. We will return, actually already booked another table for November on our way out. Thank you for a delicious 😋 Sunday lunch to all the hard working staff 😀

Had lunch here yesterday. This place is clearly popular as every table was taken. Despite it being busy, the staff were warm, friendly, efficient & professional. And the food! Amazing. Great menu but we couldn’t look any further than the game pie special. This was packed with meat in a crisp pastry case served with creamy mashed potatoes, red cabbage & gravy. We were too full for a big pudding so had the rocky road with a generous cup of coffee. I cannot fault any aspect of my visit & will definitely be returning.

We were offered a small side room for exclusive use for a small Wedding Celebration. We had 17 guests, 19 including us. Kev and his team paid attention to detail from start to finish, in making sure everyone was well looked after. The tables were set up with our decorations and place settings on our arrival at 3.45. The pre-ordered food was served to each guest, on time and all cooked to perfection. ALL our guests commented on the quality of the food and the service from front of house and behind the scenes staff. Special attention paid to 3 children in our party, making sure they were happy ! I can not thank the entire team enough for making our special day perfect.

Sunday dinner at The Brickmakers We’ve just had Sunday dinner at The Brickmakers in Windlesham. I have to say what a pleasant experience and a really good time. We were well hosted by the team. An order for drinks was taken when we were shown to our table. Time given to peruse the menu with our drinks arriving whilst doing so. The Sunday roast was very good. Lovely roast potatoes and a nice selection of veg alongside our meat choices. Then to dessert. I can only say the Sunday Special was, well, special! Honey, Orange and Almond cake with honeycomb Ice cream. This was so light and delicious. What a great way to end a fabulous meal. We were well looked after without it being overpowering and really enjoyed our evening. We will definitely be back! Thank you

We have been 4 times in the last couple of months and have not been disappointed. Food consistently good and the beer is great. Always busy but service is not slow. We always go early so not sure how things go later in the evening as it seems to be very busy but hey we have nothing but good things to say about this pub. Prices good too, they don't try to rip you off so you always want to go back. Some other pubs or restaurants in the same area are expensive and overrated. Did have one slight complaint the other evening but it was minimal and was taken on board as good feedback. A favourite of ours.

We visited as a group of 12. The service was great from start to finish, the waiter was attentive and proactively asked if people needed more drinks. It was a Sunday and chicken schnitzel wasn’t on the menu. We asked if we could still order and the kitchen kindly obliged. GREAT service. Most of us had roasts which were delicious. The food really is good. The setting is also great and the prices are fair so this is a well deserved 5 star.

It is many years since we were last here. We did not even know that they had refurbished and new ownership, I only heard about this when reading the reviews below. We came for a very late lunch today, so the place was not very full. We got a decent welcome. Perhaps not a very extensive Menu, but just about adequate. The food was very good, the portions generous and the service excellent and very friendly. We will certainly be back!

We decided to return to the Brickmakers for lunch having not been there since Scot and Alex were running it.To say that it has changed is an understatement! It used to be an always buzzing, friendly pub with excellent food but is now devoid of any character, has no atmosphere - but that might be because it was empty of any customers - and the menu is simply uninspiring.Don't waste your time with the Brickies. The Surrey Cricks is only a short stroll down the road but is MILES ahead in the food stakes.

The roast lamb was stone cold. When we mentioned this the reaction of staff was to "warm" it up. We asked for it to be replaced instead. When the dishes returned the original lamb had just been nuked and not served fresh. By now the veg and gravy were cold. Staff were not interested.20 minutes after ordering desserts we were told they had run out.The final bill included the desserts we hadn't had, drinks we hadn't ordered and then they wanted 12.5% service charge on top. It's obvious that they are short staffed and those they do have aren't interested in the job.

4 of us went to a newly redecorated pub, which is very nice and relaxing; the lunch menu is too formal for a weekday light lunch though; it has changed from a relaxing, medium priced, informal lunch menu, as it was previously. Our problem was with the wine; we ordered a £28 bottle red Italian wine, which they came and said they didn't have and offered a different wine. We did not ask the price of the other wine and when the bill came it was charged at £39; £12 upload! I would have thought at this upload they would have warned us. I will happily pay this for an evening meal but not an informal lunch with the 'special' club sandwich that they had on offer. Disappointed and won't recommend or return....

We booked early to accommodate our 6 year old. The refurbishment has paid off and the place looks lovely. We sat in the garden area under a large canopy. Plenty outdoor heaters so in winter I think it’ll be cosy. The wine list from what I remember has definitely improved and there are some really good choices by the glass. The menu, though relatively small, is perfectly formed. We had lamb, bavette and children’s fish. Lamb was the best. The kids fish was a little over cooked and my bavette probably a little under (for my liking). We had sticky toffee pudding between us - utterly delicious sauce. Actually, all of the sauces we had were excellent. The service was really good and staff members attentive without being overbearing. We will be back.

Eight of us went for dinner. There is a very large car park to the side and behind. There is also a nice outside area for the summer. We were sat inside and had a view of the kitchen pass, which I quite like. The menu is good offering different to the normal pub food, which I think is refreshing. I had the Isle of Wight Heritage Tomatoes and then skate wing. Both were really good. Finding skate wing is unusual and it is something I really like. Both the lemon tart and the dark chocolate ganache desserts were very good.Service was really friendly and good. We all enjoyed it.

First time back in 7 years (I don't live in the area). Basically my food was quite good but 2 of the party had their mains taken off the bill (chewy rib-eye and a fish full of bones - customer checked twice that it would come filleted - but it didn't)). There is a lot of work to be done to get this venue back to where it used to be. The menu wasn't exciting and there is no "comfort food" at all. I think its mainly staffing issues though that let it down. Warm white wine and ice cold red wine!! I think maybe poorly trained staff just pick up a bottle and serve it. It was quite cold in the conservatory area. To be fair they offered to move us but to a noisy spot. There is a door to outside which was nearly always open though it has a big sign saying "Fire door - keep closed". It isn't actually a fire door as it isn't self closing and it half glazed. Their excuse was that the servers take the food that way as it is a quicker route for them and how do they close it with a tray full. Management need to pick up on sloppy service because at the end of the day good waiters are the coal face as far as customer satisfaction is concerned.

We were a party of four for lunch. First time at the Brickies since reopening. The place has been refurbished very well, and the covered garden area was excellent. Staff gave us a mini tour to show what had been changed, which was a nice touch. The lunch itself was very good and we found that we found the side dishes were easily enough, with a side of cabbage and a side of chips split between two,for example.Possibly choices were slightly limited, but that was the only negative.Service fast and efficient, and very friendly. After the last fiasco,it’s great to see that they have learned a valuable lesson. We shall return.

To serve a main meal with only one side is unacceptable. Two of the skates had to be returned smelling of ammonia (Money was deducted from the meal) the Bavette was tasteless and extremely tough just served with a bowl of over cooked carrots a comment the chips were the best part of the meal was made . £11.50 for a small plate of cheese and bread was shocking. She asked if we wanted her to ask about a reduction which we declined ....we didnt want money off our bill...we would have preferred a more enjoyable environment .The food was ok.....I had the bream ...my partner the skate wing ....Would we go back ? We were celebrating our friends birthdays and expected excellent food. With such a limited menu one of the parties choice was not available and two meals were very poor and really warranted being sent back. Feeling that this would spoil the evening we decided not to. Once we had waited for 25 minutes for two ice creams which didn’t arrive, we asked for the bill and refused to pay the 12.5 per cent discretionary tip. The set up outside is covered and very well thought out.The staff were all very friendly but busy. Maybe a few more helping hands would help?We went for lunch and expected a lunch type menu but there is only one menu and it is very limited, especially for lunch. No posh sandwiches or burgers. Lamb and steak dinners which were just too big for lunch. Finally we settled on a selection of side dishes and snacks instead. All of the food was excellent though. Some of the items we felt were a little over priced compared to others. The bread a butter at £3.50 was poor value as was a piece of crumpet (not a whole crumpet as assumed) with a few shrimps on.. poor value at £4.50... it was a single mouthful. The triple cooked chips, scotch eggs were very very good. All in all this is a lovely pub, great location, great staff, good food but the menu needs sorting out.

Shame the whole of the outdoor area is blocked by the super tent structures, it’s very well done, but the, open air back garden was a beautiful experience in the summer. I have to be honest I’m split on this review, the food was actually really good, starter, main and wonderful desert, but then I have always found the food to be good here. They have stepped up a notch, the Tokyo Radish salad was fresh and with good flavours. The pork roast was really really good, with nice veg and what tasted like double cooked roast with beautiful insides. The pork was fused with herbs and garlic, with nicely done crackling. Rounded off with a really nice baked alaska.....so all in all great food experience. The size of the pork was on the large side but beautifully cooked, enough roast potatoes and a small tray of carrots / beans and broccoli, all nicely cooked. The down side, service. Although the staff were nice and friendly, the service standards were very poor.Taking into account we arrived at 4pm on a Sunday, it was a quarter full in the outside area, so hardly bursting. We waited a long time for anyone to come to our table for drinks, even then this was due to us gently signalling to the waitress we would like to order. This took about 20 minutes after we first sat down. It took a long time for drinks to arrive, so we ordered food when they came to avoid any further waiting. Starter arrived quickly due to the kitchens not being very busy, as previously mentioned. At no stage during our visit did anyone voluntarily come to the table, to ask if everything was ok, or indeed to ask if we wanted another drink, which I’m sure the boss would be happy about! We had to wave to the waiting staff (three of them) for salt and pepper, thus did not arrive for the duration of the starters, so we had to ask again when the main course arrived. The main course arrived whilst my son was still finishing his starter, which was badly judged by the waiting staff. So to confirm as a table we had not finished our starters when the main course arrived. We were not asked if we wanted any condiments, just enjoy the meal, and off they went, with us asking for the salt and pepper again as they left. The salt and pepper finally arrived. Once we had finished, the plates were on the table at least 20 minutes, again we had to signal the waiting staff that we wanted to order desert. By this time we had moved some of the dirty plates onto the next door table. Dessert order was taken, took a bit longer but there was a baked Alaska in the order. When the waitress came to the table to ask if everything was ok and to clear the plates, I politely advised as such we have had no service, and we would like the service removed. This was checked with the manager, and agreed, the waitress to her credit came back and apologised again, and confirmed it had been removed. She apologised again after this. This waitress was one of three and had recently started, she was not the original waitress. So overall experience of the new set up was good, food I enjoyed very much, but the service was frankly non existent. Waiting time for anything was unacceptable, attention to the table and guests zero, never asked if we wanted more drinks, never asked if the food was ok during meal, and not visited at the table by three waiting staff in essentially a quarter full restaurant very poor. So a split experience, the manager definitely needs to get his act together in terms of staff training. Wouldn’t be sure about returning, maybe.

First time back here to dine for a year or so. Barry is a welcoming host and I like what they have done with the place. Marquee in the garden area the best I have seen. Ate in a group of 5 and the reports of small portion sizes appears to have been addressed, although £11 for 3 small pieces of cheese is not good value. However the experience was ruined by 2 tables of traveller types. I have literally never eaten in a restaurant that tolerated shouting and screaming with children running wild for the whole visit. Not to mention continual barking of dogs. This place is not cheap, so I expect better.

Booked a month in advance for a birthday celebration. Explained we would like food & drinks and booked for 4-6pm. I called a week ago to confirm if we would be seated inside due to the weather, had a full conversation about being sat inside and all confirmed. I was called twice this week to confirm, then suddenly told we couldn’t eat between 4-6pm when that was our time slot on the table. Also double checked again to be sat inside. We were told after 6pm we would stay for drinks at the bar but this isn’t allowed? Arrived and given a table outside. Manager didn’t apologise, told me they wouldn’t of ever sat us inside so I guess he thought I made all the conversations up? The people I spoke to on the phone apparently never told me anything they told me so I have no idea who id been having all these conversations with to book and confirm on more than three occasions. Limited menu with hardly anything that we wanted to eat and very expensive for what it is. Didn’t have the drink we wanted but were still charged for it on the bill. Some of the food came so late that others had finished their food, drinks took a very long time. It was empty outside, we were one of three occupied tables and everywhere else was empty so they weren’t busy. We were given the bill at 5:35pm even though we had the table until 6pm. At 6pm on the dot, we were ushered out. Such a shame. Completely sympathetic to the fact it’s been closed for a long time but simple customer service isn’t too difficult. Really looked forward to a birthday celebration and catch up with friends and we ended up at a different local pub. We used to go all the time but won’t be returning for a while now.

Also - the Chef really knows his ‘onions’ - he has an excellent palette. His seasoning and cooking methods really hit the spot. Service is a bit shabby but I like to think they will overcome this with more experience. The food with Scott and Alex was very good but this is a different offering. It won’t suit all the previous customers but this is more Gastropub than pub grub and the prices reflect that. There are other very good options for pub grub in the village so it is good to have a different alternative.

So we arrived a shabby collection of middle aged fatties (okay I speak for myself - the others being prime athletes) having dusted off the bikes in the shed and gone out for a pootle. We arrived thirsty and tired and I couldn't even say the words ' salt and vinegar crisps' We were too late for food but, sat in glorious sunshine under unbelievably blue skies. We were quickly served with ice cold drinks, not only did the men enjoy their 'Rebellion' but the landlord brought out complimentary other beer samples for them to try. We were already won over but then came the moment of pure joy. He bought us a serving of piping hot roast potatoes. We are not expecting this level of TLC again - but oh it was wonderful/life saving and propelled us all the way back up the hill.

Have been a fan for years, gourmet Gastro pub with everyday prices, so was a little concerned to hear it was under new management. I needn’t have been concerned, similar menu, great food, wonderful wine, super service and still great value. Went for a family birthday and spent just over £50pp with wine but a 30% off offer brought it down to less than £30 pp for 2 courses and wine. The squid starter and pork belly mains were particularly good and had to take some home in a doggy bag as portions were not stingy. Only surprise was how few people were there. Ok it was a Monday night but a year ago it’d have been standing room only.

Much in line with other reviews. The table layout was odd to say the least, we had two tables pushed together, the tables were different in width and length and made seating rather weird. The staff were very pleasant and courteous and readily on hand if needed. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy on the day we were there, we had to wait over 30 minutes before our orders were served. I had the roast beef which was tasty, and generous in quantity - but - oh those so called roast potatoes, awful. Hard and tasteless. Not cheap, but then it's Surrey for you, would I go again, yes, but if it was for Sunday lunch I would inquire as to the roast potato source before ordering. Small things I know but it is these small things that often count, small things which could so easily be put right.

Sunday lunch time. Drawn to the pub by beautiful surrounding walks. We were in the 'cellar' bar as we were a large table plus dog, but it could have been laid out much better with some thought for space to sit and atmosphere (echoing previous reviews). Felt a bit like a cold school dining room. Our waitress was very friendly though and tried to make our meal enjoyable. The roasts were very generous, and my lamb was quite nice. But repeating the review below about the roasties - "mum's been to Iceland"! They were hard and tasteless and definitely not home made - shame on you Brickmakers!

Wow!!! Decided to re visit our favourite pub last month having moved away to the Cotswolds. What a SHOCK!!! Not the same place at all. We had no problem getting a table on a Friday night because it was empty. Unheard of in the good old days. Agree wholeheartedly with the latest reviews. No ambience, cocky, inattentive staff more interested in chatting amongst themselves. Food VERY mediocre. What a crying shame. Come back Alex and Scott and bring your fabulous staff.

Used to love going to The Brickmakers, especially for their pork belly, but unfortunately things have dramatically gone down hill. Sunday menu was extremely small and they no longer offer pork belly, which is disappointing. Ordered pork scratching nibbles, which were rock hard, had to leave some of it as completely inedible. Also ordered salt & pepper squid, which’s was served on Mary rose sauce with cherry tomatoes, odd!Burger was dry & overcooked, my friend had the roast lamb, which was very bland. Had to ask for extra veg as hardly any served and the roast potatoes were hard & anaemic! Very disappointing and won’t be returning due to the food, although the service was good.

Really shocked at the silence in Brickmakers - what’s happened to our pub?? Last afternoon was like a grave instead of vibrant like normal - characterless !! New management definitely required as current ownership appears to be missing the point!

The meal was decent but the service was very slow and it took a very long time to get drinks... which was weird because the place was not busy at all. We ordered drinks during our starters and they only arrived when our main course was finished. And when they arrived, one of them was incorrect - there was only 2 of us. The process of getting drinks the entire night continued to be much of the same - long wait, wrong drinks, having to chase for drinks. Very disappointing start to the NY. The waiting staff seemed busy the bar staff and management seemed to be standing around, not doing much.

We have visited the Brickmakers several times since it changed hands in 2019. Each time the food and service has left a lot to be desired. This was my favourite place to eat and drink, I used to need to book at least six months ahead to get my Christmas Eve off to a grand start , not this year. I booked a table for 17 a week ahead in mid December, had a vegan and a veggie and was to,d that was fine. When push came to shove they reservations lady wanted us all to choice from one limited menu, we refused as we had been promised a good choice. Upon arrival in the bar, they had no change, one bar person wasn’t very busy as the pub was dead. It was a Wednesday evening but in the past we haven’t been able to get in!

A big thank you for all you did last night for my wife’s birthday meal with the family. Great service & good food. Everybody enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It was also pleasing that we had a room on our own. If I have one minor criticism is was the cost of the wine. I think that £12.50 for a glass of Sauvignon & £31.00 for a bottle of everyday Chardonnay is tad expensive.

It’s a real shame. Once a fantastic pub, with a real buzz, brilliant food, very reasonable pricing compared to other pubs and restaurants nearby and friendly staff, has now been completely ruined under new management.

On our way back from Wales via Bracknell/M3 we wanted a quick pint/meal stopover early on a Saturday evening, and the Brickmakers is in an ideal location. Well presented pub with friendly staff and prompt service. We opted for steak & kidney pudding which was delicious accompanied by a nice pint of London Pride. Recommended.

Came here with friends, as we had been before and had,had a great meal, we all had starters which were great, but the main roast dinner was not so great, the vegetables were cold, the meat was luke warm, but the roast potatoes were hot (we did mention it to the manager) who apologized and asked if he could get us some more vegetables, but we declined, we then had dessert which were very nice, I have to say that the place was packed and bless him the manager, it was his second day there, but fair play to him, he went straight round to the kitchen and started to sort out the vegetables so no one else got cold vegetables, as I said at the beginning we had been here before and had, had a lovely meal and so we will be back again, as places sometimes get under pressure and it was only part of the meal that was not up to standard, the service was excellent as well.

Very upset by some of the totally unjustified and disappointing reviews left by others who clearly don’t like change of any kind. I’ve been a few times now since the change of management and found both the food and staff excellent. Along with many others, I had stopped going to the Brickmakers because it had become extremely noisy, raucous and overcrowded. Too many tables were shoved too close together so you were all too aware of other people’s conversations and unable to hear your own companions. Utterly appalling, but that was THEN, before the new owners. NOW: It is far more civilised and each time I’ve been my companions have remarked on the lovely tasteful decor and delightful ambience. I understand the owners are planning major refurbishment of decor, internally and externally, which personally I think would be a massive error. Neither do I think it necessary OR that it would bring an influx of new clients. Don’t ruin the architecture and atmosphere with hideously unsuitable paint! Food is really delicious and prices fair.

Myself and my partner have often visited the Brickmakers over the last few years and have had nothing but praise for the food and service. Unfortunately, since it’s been taken over, the pub is noticeably quieter. We arrived for our dinner and were taken to our table, offered menus and asked if we’d like something to drink. We ordered a bottled of wine, which the waitress bought over and without offering us to taste the wine, was told to say ‘when’ as she continued to pour. She then went through the specials, but clearly didn’t really know what they all were and basically, said they were ‘nice’......not terribly descriptive and that the ‘Chateau’ ( I finished the title by saying chateaubriand) was ‘meaty’. We enjoyed our meal and the food was at its usual high standard, but the staff certainly need some extensive training and refinement, as the service wasn’t at its usual standard. What a terrible shame, but certainly something that can be rectified.

Saturday 21/09/19. Arrived at 7.p.m. Ordered our drinks staters and main course. Drinks arrived within 10 minutes. After 60 minutes they brought up our main course, we said we usually have our starters first, they were taken back. 10 minutes later our friends starters arrived. 10 minutes later the manager came to the table apologised to say they had run out of the starters my wife and I had ordered (pate and toast) he apologised again to say he had only been manager there for 3 days. And offered us any starter at no cost my wife ordered a starter I declined. Main course my wife ordered belly of pork that was ok. One of our friends ordered liver and bacon he did not eat it all the he said the liver was slimy. Our other friend and myself ordered fish and chips we asked for vinegar the water just walked away I ended getting it myself. The manager brought the bill up apologised again and took a bottle of wine off the bill.

We had booked to go to The Brickmakers for a Sunday lunch with family as it’s always been our favourite place to eat. We hadn’t been for some time but after this visit we probably won’t be visiting again. Not sure if there’s a new chef but the roast was SO disappointing. Small portions, flat greasy Yorkshire puddings, what seemed like frozen potatoes and dry/burnt cauliflower cheese (two tiny dishes for a table of 6!) We were actually really gutted as the food was always amazing :( Puddings however, were very nice!

This is the worst meal we have had in UK. It was a Sunday roast at 6 pm. So maybe we shouldn’t have attempted a roast so late. However there were lots of guests arriving then. The service was also extremely slow. I had to ask for our drinks twice! 2 of our meals didn’t have Yorkshire puddings added and 2 did. The 2 that had was very sloppy and oily, so we didn’t even ask for the two that were missing! Weird! We had to ask for sauces, which they appeared with and lopped onto our plate. Maybe I’ve been spoilt by our local pub in Sunningdale. Sauce on the side, fresh Vege’s and a prompt beautifully presented meal!

I used to always have a good meal at the Brickmakers but my last visit was very disappointing. Service was so slow at least 45 minutes wait between each course, asking 3 or 4 times for drinks that the waitress kept forgetting. staff are quite miserable & not really bothered about offering any customer service. Roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked from frozen & then left in the oven too long. I will not be wasting my money at the Brickmakers again.

I should have realised when I saw dirty marks on the front entrance. It is a basic pub. Only 2 people there when we arrived just after 12.30. The table was grimy. And wet. We waited for the rest of the family to arrive. The menus are greasy and dirty. But we had all travelled some way, and don't know the area, so we stayed. The starters were OK. Avoid the fish pie. It consisted of a very thick layer of potato, and a layer of fish, but no sauce around the fish, so it was very dry. We did mention this at the time, but no apology and no reduction in the bill. We won't be going back.

A very nice pub, situated near the a30 as you enter Bagshot. I was there twice last week. The first night was fairly quiet, but it was warm enough to sit outside in the beer garden. The second time, there was a function going on, so quite a buzz. It was chilly, though, so no Al fresco experience this time. The beer choice was good, and the service was excellent. On the busy night, the lady serving (Louise, I think) was kind enough to acknowledge me instead of just ignoring me, as often happens. I am not in the area often, but glad I found this pub as it will be a good option if I am.
