Came here on a Thursday night to enjoy some food and a couple of drinks with friends in the newly extended beer garden. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the beer garden is a great sun trap! We'll be back very soon. Thank you so much to the lovely bar staff member who, very generously, helped my unreliable friend out with our second round of drinks 🤣

Upon arriving, we were greeted by a lady behind the bar who showed us to our table that was reserved for us (I later found out that this lovely lady was called Jess). What an asset to the business; friendly, professional and could not do enough for you. Thank you Jess for making our lunch an enjoyable one indeed! I hope your bosses see this as I feel they need to cherish such a wonderful member of staff. We then ventured onto the terrace whilst the little one enjoyed the bouncy castle. The staff up there were also second to none. We will be returning and thank you again.

You would have a better experience in a Salvation Army hostel. The rooms are disgusting, the ‘breakfast’ is in a box in a wardrobe, The room was filthy and never cleaned. Bar staff are unwelcoming and the manager is mostly absent. Stay somewhere, anywhere else

Service was attentive and quick. We were made to feel welcome with our dog and shown two areas in which we could eat with him. This was a lovely carpeted dining area, which was clean and cosy. Food choice was great, we have a fussy teen and when we ordered, swops were made with no issue. Hand cut chips were the nicest I think I’ve ever tasted! We ordered a cup of tea for our dog (which seems an odd request), but it arrived in a lovely dog bowl and he was given a little bag of dog biscuits!! Recommend The Brewhouse and it’s lovely staff.

We were staying for a couple of nights in Bolton, arrived later than we'd hoped and basically just chose this place because we didn't have to get in the car again. On looking at the place my expectations were quite low, it looked as if it would be very ordinary pub grub, but actually we were pleasantly surprised. I had salmon, my husband had the black pudding, and they were both very good. They said they were only serving till 7pm, but though we didn't get there till 6.30, we did not feel at all under pressure.

The owners of this chain of pubs have lost the plot. Poor service and no management contribute to a terrible experience. Locals avoid this pub and the rooms at the back are at the level of a hostel.

Lovely selection of real ales and they’ve all been kept perfect. The staff are delightful and engage well with both locals and the people like myself who visit less often. Only negative I can post that with so many beers to choose from it’s hard to try them all, especially on a school night. Keep up the good work!

We booked two rooms here and they were both as equally filthy, the carpets were dirty, pieces hanging off the bedroom furniture, big hole in the floor of the wardrobe and cobwebs 3 inches long hanging from the top of the curtains!! Continental breakfast we found was a pack of salami type stuff and cheese, yoghurt thrown into the mini fridge in the wardrobe. We were that disappointed that we actually left later that night and went home even though we had paid. Our other friends did stay but wouldn't even get into the bed as their bathroom was disgusting so they left very early in the morning. Be warned!!

So you arrive on the carpark at the back of the pub, and the first thing you see, is a bag of dog poo, not a great start. And Whether you are paying £30 or £300 per night for a bed, the very least you expect is the room to be clean. Its not a lot to ask is it? Seems many other reviewers have had a similar experience too. I dont mind cheap and cheerful, but draw the line at cheap and minging ! I wouldnt let my dog sleep here, the place is filthy. Either get yourselves a new cleaner, or stop doing b&b and concentrate on just being a pub. Would i recommend this place? Absolutely no chance what so ever !

I went with my wife and two friends for lunch on a Monday. I'm in a wheelchair, and the first thing I noticed was that we could park outside, and wheelchair access into the restaurant was very easy. It was very quiet. The landlord appeared to be behind the bar, and he was very helpful and unhurried. There was a good range of beers I hadn't met before and, after taking our orders, he took us to a table that was easy for me to access. In addition to the printed menu, there were a couple of blackboards with extra dishes listed, though we stuck to the printed version. We debated having a starter, as there were several we wanted to try, but sense prevailed! The food took a little while to arrive, but there was a lot of it. I had a mixed grill, and that was very good. The skinny chips were the best I've had for a very long time, and there was masses of meat. At this point I realised what a good decision it was not to have a starter! We were all keen to have the lemon tart with ginger ice cream, but we could only manage two between the four of us. The landlord was quite happy with that.We would certainly be happy to return. Who knows, I may be able to try one of those starters next time!

This was our first visit to The Brewhouse and we were very impressed. We went in for a light lunch and some wine. We were given a lovely welcome by a young lady called Katlan, (excuse if spelling is wrong), She took our drinks order at the bar and then brought the drinks to our table. There seems to be 43 distinct areas in the pub, at one end there are tables and chairs for dining/drinking, the middle, in front of the bar has some large leather sofas with coffee tables and to the left as you enter there are large leather seats and tables with a fireplace. We ordered ribs, salad and onion rings and a crab brucheta. All of the food was perfectly cooked and presented and served in good time. The member of staff was very attentive and pleasant, we will definitely be coming back here again.

I have returned to eat here on several occasions because the food is excellent but unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. On my last visit our empty plates and empty glasses (requiring a refill!) were sat on the table for a good 15/20 minutes before they were acknowledged by a member of staff and it wasn't busy in the restaurant at the time may I add, so there was no real excuse. The food however was delicious. I had the Italian burger that was on the specials board and it was served with sweet potato fries, onion rings and coleslaw. The burger was delicious and moist and the portion was very generous. I will definitely return in the future for the food and hope the service has improved somewhat.

No one came to take a drinks order, while we were waiting for our meal, so we went and got our own from the bar. The food was nice but again no one came to ask if we wanted another drink, no one asked if we wanted desserts. They lost out in over £30 here. We sat for an hour before deciding we may as well go, but no one brought out bill! We took the money to the bar and told them it was correct, they thanked us, never checking we had actually paid the right amount. We could have very easily have walked out without paying and they wouldn't have noticed. Yes, the bar was fairly busy but surely the amount they take from food is important too.

We arrived early as we were told last orders were at 7pm. There were many others that had arrived at the same time so our sweet waitress (Caitlin) warned us dinner could take 30 minutes to be served. One of our party ordered the pork but it wasn't available. Another ordered lamb but after many minutes was told that this too was unavailable, to make amends this member was told she could order anything else F.O.C. and the restaurant would stand us a round of drinks. When buying these the assistant manager managed to break a glass that sprayed us and others with glass, no apology given. When the food finally arrived (after more than an hours wait) the 3 steak orders were all cold. More apologies by Caitlin and even the chef came out to do the same and offered free desserts, which were declined. The Brewhouse is a drinking place for what appeared to be many locals as well as a restaurant, perhaps it should focus on being good at one or the other instead of being poor at both.

5 of us booked in for meal. Arrived at 6.15, table booked for 6.30 as food finishes at 7 pm. Caitlin our wonderfull waitress informed us there would be a 30 mins wait as they were very busy. No problem. She took our orders but there was no lamb left so steak was ordered instead. 2 of us went to the bar to order more drinks. The assistant manager was manic and ended up dropping a glass which hit the bar showering us in glass. No apology and he pointed out he would only replace those drinks to customers who had been served. Caitlin then told him our round of drinks were to be on the house as another of our orders was unavailable(the pork cutlet), again steak was ordrerd as a replacement. We waited a very long time for our meal (well over the 30 minutes indicated), closer to an hour. The mixed grill was delicious as was the tuna but all 3 steaks were undercooked! Caitlin (who should have long finished her shift) told us to order more drinks as an apology from the chef. The chef to his credit came to apologise to us personally and offered free dessert on top of the drinks which we declined. The chef and waitresses work so hard. If it had not been for Caitlin's service we would have walked out. The other waitresses were also good. The assistant manager (Ian?) was an absolute disgrace and not a manager!

Booked this b/b for a friend's wedding . Big mistake ! Although the pub was OK,friendly staff, good pint a disaster regarding accommodation . The double rooms face the main Bolton-Blackburn main road and as the windows are only cheaply double glassed with plastic sliding window it was ridiculous trying to sleep with the traffic noise. The rooms are pretty basic and certainly do not match the price. Visiting the UK and looking forward to a English Breakfast was another waste of time ,on asking time of breakfast I was told any time as it was on and in a small fridge in the wardrobe and consisted of a 3rd pint of milk ,small do of coco poP'S and a dried up crossiant in a plastic wrapper ! 'Breakfast Included' actually means a few packs of cereal with yogurt and juice tucked away in the wardrobe. TV remote didn't work, flat batteries. Not a plug socket in sight at the dressing table/desk. The bathroom was disgusting. Hair and who knows what else in both sink and shower plug holes, black mould around the shower base, leaking shower hose, under the toilet seat had clearly not been cleaned recently and black scum clearly visible inside the toilet bowel rim.Order a starter and main course in the bar and they both arrived at the same time. The best they could offer was to try and keep the main warm under a heating lamp till I'd finished my starter. When the main did arrive it had dried up so much it was virtually inedible.

I recently visited The Brewhouse on a Friday night for a family meal (there were 7 of us altogether). The pub has recently been refurbished and looks great, with some comfy looking sofas in the main part of the pub- unfortunately all taken by the time we got there. The pub seemed busy, but we had booked and we were shown to our table by a very helpful waitress, who then ran through the new menu with us, explaining the way it worked.Although there are still pub classics (my daughter had the fish and chips which she said were delicious), the new style seems to be grills with a choice of three sides. I chose the fillet steak (not cheap at £22), with chips, onion rings and mushrooms. It was delicious!! I eat out quite a lot and can't remember when I had such a well cooked steak (done perfectly medium rare). Out of 7 of us, 4 had steaks and everyone felt the same as I did. The others had pies, and gave then the thumbs up too.I hope the Brewhouse continues with the high standard of this visit - the service, food and atmosphere are all great. There was a slight wait for the food, but this was expected on a busy Friday night with freshly cooked food. All in all, a great meal.

So named after its first incarnation, The Brewhouse (formerly the Cheetham Arms) seems to be firstly billed as one of three things depending on where you look online. It's either firstly billed as a hotel, a restaurant, or a pub, and not usually a combination of the three. On TripAdvisor it's a hotel, but from what I experienced, I would suggest that (especially given the venue's past), this is more of a modern pub which also serves a good selection of food.Adjacent to one of the lounge areas in the bar, you can look through a glass window to see the brewing area, still full of booze barrels, the tap labels of which are on display in the window outside the pub. A nice nod to its brewing past. It also proudly sells ales from its sister company, Dunscar Bridge brewery, located down the road. The venue itself feels like a strange combination of old-school pub and modern bar, mixing neutral tones and bright woods with dark woods and studded leather couches. Our first problem was that as we drove up to the venue, we saw nowhere to park as it's on a road. We turned left after the pub into a small yard, which obviously wasn't meant for parking, so we parked further down the road. Only on LEAVING the pub did we see a not-very-prominent sign telling us that there was in fact a car park behind the venue, accessed by turning down a road before the the pub itself. On this occasion, a group of four of us were here for lunch, having perused the menu online. Only two of us opted for starters instead of main courses. For these, we ordered goats cheese fritters, and crispy fried whitebait. Both arrived in good time and were tasty and well prepared and presented. The other two of us ordered from the mains menu, choosing pub classics of steak and ale pie, and fish and chips. The first thing we both noticed was that the chips were very tasty traditional chips. Always a plus! My only gripe is that my fish was lay on top of my chips, which seemed a little odd, meaning I needed to lift it up and move it to be able to get to my chips. The fish had absolutely perfect batter, although the fish itself was a little bland. Good mushy peas though, and the home-made tartare sauce was excellent. Sadly, although the pastry on the pie was quite nice, the actual contents of the pie were quite dry, and could've done with a jug of gravy on the side to add some moisture. At this point we had agreed that the visible staff of two young girls seemed friendly with good intentions, but not overly professional at times in how they were speaking and acting, just a bit too casual, and how we were having trouble getting their attention when they were looking at their mobile phones at the bar. When we eventually caught the attention of one to be able to order dessert, we chose to get two sticky toffee puddings with four spoons, so we could share. The puddings arrived, and looked great (admittedly on one of those big porcelain sombrero style bowls), but as the waitress walked off, we realised we weren't given any spoons, and we had to wave her over to let her know. She responded with, "didn't she give you any? She was supposed to give you some!" and a big annoyed sigh, before marching off, presumably to get the spoons. However it took about 4 minutes until she returned with spoons, leaving us sitting looking at the blob of ice cream atop the warm pudding starting to melt into a creamy splodge, with nothing we could really do.Happily, the sticky toffee pudding was really tasty, and the butterscotch sauce that accompanied it really hit the spot!My verdict on The Brewhouse is a bit mixed... I enjoyed the food, but as the place was quite a loud and busy pub, (with seemingly loud boisterous regulars at the bar) and the service was a bit lacking for a weekday afternoon, I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here again, but if I was in the area, I'd probably pop in for lunch.

Stayed here for one night and enjoyed a tasty meal in the bar restaurant before returning to a well-appointed room. The Brewhouse is on a busy main road so I recommend ear-plugs to ensure a quiet night's sleep, but lovely establishment with courteous and helpful staff.

Did not want to do this review as it's our local pub but having been loads of time before tonight was a total disaster and nobody could really be bothered to put it right until I kicked up a stink. Diner for two-ordered just a main course. Had finished our bottle of wine when it arrive 1 hour and 20 mins later with no apology . It's it was not worth the wait. My duck duo was a tale of two parts. The duck leg was cremated and the duck breast ( which was only part of a duck breast) one piece looked pink and correctly cooked but was so tough could not be cut and the other looked grey and old and was totally unable to be cut & the potatoes daphonoise were clearly reheated. The night was totally spoiled by the staff who did not see what the problem was and said the chef was too busy to attend to my complaint( the pub dining area was virtually empty) even when he had finished serving still refused to address my complaint. I finally got offered a replacement meal which to be fair was clearly freshly cooked but the complementary drinks offered never arrived. Shame on you brew house. Thought you were better than that. No manager available either to address our complaint. My friends meal also comprised of reheated chicken. Avoid at all costs as we will be doing in future

Within walking distance so dont need to take the car so free to sample excellent selection of locally brewed beer. Very good choice on menu with larger and smaller portions to suit appetite. Children welcome and good choice on kids menu. Warm and cosy in winter with fires in smaller rooms.

We'e been here in the past but haven't been for ages as the last time we tried to get a meal we weren't able to. However, we thought we'd give it another try - don't now why we bothered. It wasn't late on a Sunday afternoon - probably about 6pm ish - when we walked in the place was gloomy and virtually empty - not a good sign! Eventually a chap appeared behind the bar and when we asked if food was still being served he wasn't sure! We were an hour and a half earlier than the time food stopped being served! He cam back and said that there was no food and apologised - nope - we won't try for a 3rd time!

My partner ordered Lancashire hotpot which went down a treat. Cosy country pub atmosphere with incredibly nice staff and food is great! Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone :)

Service was very good, its not a 5star restaurant silver service its a pub, I think people sometimes get confused. 2 adult 1 kids meal,4 drinks less than £35. Will be back frequently.

Went here for lunch with a friend, I was quite surprised at the prices, rather high I thought. The soup starter was too salty and the main course was very poor. Cannot really recommend it to anyone.

Visited here with the other half for some lunch...The service left a lot to be desired, as in the fact that there wasn't any.We were not greeted on entry, decided to sit down and see what we wanted from the menu, at this point noticed another table getting waiter service and therefore assumed that orders would be taken from the table, after much waiting decided we must of been wrong, so decided to go to the bar to order, where we once again ignored as stocking the fridge was obviously much more important. We ordered drinks and asked if we could order food, the barmaid told us she would come over to take our order and opened a tab for us as we were ordering food. Waited a further 25 minutes at the table for our order to be taken, at which point decided to go up and settle the tab, no mention of our order being taken at this point or even an apology. Will never return, service left me agitated and confused. In summary, left 40 minutes after arriving, hungry.

Came here for my mums birthday. All ordered starters; 2 pates, 1 Stilton pot with crusty bread and 1 fish cake. All tasted delicious and plentiful. For our mains we had cheese and onion pie (good but too much onion), gammon steak and 2 had chicken skewers. Food was of good quality and lots of it. There is options for lighter bites. Good range of cask ale. Drinks are not cheap but this is reflected in the decor and service.

At a recent visit to this pub restaurant I chose the home made Steak and Ale pie soon my son's recommendation. It was absolutely delicious, the best pie I've ever had, juicy pieces of meat in gravy etc and a pastry crust. A few more mushy peas would have earned a score of five.

I booked a table for 22 of us, all friends from across the UK, as well as USA, Norway, Sweden and it was oustanding. Great service, Jacqui is back in charge which is a good sign. Both chefs ensured our meals were top class, served to perfection.I notice the previous reviewer has only ever left 2 reviews both slating the Brewhouse, so the clown is obviously a troll or a competitor. We all loved our food, there was a good selection of beers available and the service received was tip-top.Black Pudding Starter was tasty, well presented.Steak & Ale Pie for the main was full of lean, tasty meat, a really filling dish.Dessert I chose the cheese board and there was a really good selection of cheeses.I left, totally full up, satisfied and happy. This is traditional food, at good prices and we'd have no issues recommending nor returning here if we were ever in the area.

how to ruin a pub, first put 13 pumps on then put 'coming soon' on10 of them & serve dishwater from the other 3, don't clean the pipes, run out of most other drinks on Saturday evening and change managers every other week. Used to be a good pub, talk to any of the ex regulars ! Why not take a trip to a bank top pub to see how it's done ? Because beer wise this pub is awfull.

I have been here a few times and love it. Gorgeous and cosy place. Really friendly bar staff. Beers from the local Dunscar brewery. The standard of food is much better than your standard pub grub. Really tasty. Oh and not forgetting Presley the dog who nipped downstairs to say hello. A lovely place.

The comment named "modern day bandits" is extremely unfair and I would not be suprised if it was written to bad mouth The Brewhouse for personal gain...hence the naming of other pubs. I eat in The Brewhouse regularly and I fail to see how 2 people could manage to spend £70 unless drinking alot alongside the meal. The food is way above average for a pub and amazing value for money. The portion sizes are not in the least small infact I struggle to finish and never have room for dessert. If you like fantastic high quality food, great atmosphere and nice surroundings I highly recommend The Brewhouse and its sister pub The Thomas Egerton, where the food is also second to none. If not The Cotton Kier or Wetherspoons do great cheap deals!

This is my first review on trip advisor. Friends tell me all about it.Just want to say that i visited saturday night and the pub was packed. It seemed like there was a party in the pub. Was so busy. We didnt book in was welcomed by a young man working behind the bar. He sorted our drinks out and was really polite.A woman came and took the order for food. We was served quick and wasnt sat waiting very long. I ordered the Blackpudding to start. And must say it was the best i have ever had. For main i had the stuffed chicken breast and yet again like my starter ticked every box for me.The rest of my friends enjoyed there meals to. We have been coming here for the last several months. This is a beautiful food pub and had everything we needed.Praises all around for the food as it led to great topic of interest with friends. We will be back

My wife and I had arranged to drive from Huddersfield to Bolton where we had lived previously for 30 years. Our friend from North Wales was in Bolton just for the day prior to a family event in the evening. We had not met up for a year or so so just wanted to chat over lunch, and her sister who lives locally recommended The Brewhouse, which we had not visited before. We all arrived about 1.30 and found just a few people eating or drinking. The lady at the bar made us welcome and was helpful in answering my wife's questions about the menu (she is lactose-intolerant).Wife & friend ordered light-bites: small fish & chips and a cheese baguette with chips & salad. My choice was the pub's own steak & ale pie with chips & mushy peas. After the meal we ordered hot drinks as we wanted to stay for a while and talk.We were all very happy with the food and drinks. We were able to talk in the quiet atmosphere, although the bar got a bit busier and noisier later when some football fans arrived. We were all very happy and the bill of £29.55 was very reasonable indeed.

I've been a regular and loyal customer to the brewhouse for 3 years now and loved it. Great food, lovely ales and a really welcoming, warm feel to the place. It's recently been decorated and it's suffered visually as a result. It has more of a cheap pub feel to it rather than the nice homely atmosphere that was previously there. The carpets clearly hadn't been hoovered for a few days which left me wondering what state the kitchens were in... We intended to eat but had a pint and left. None of the old staff were on the bar and the old brewery that was visible from the bar seems to have gone and been replaced with regular barrels. A real shame. A lovely pub and fantastic eatery seems to have died a death.

First time at this restaurant since it moved. Very impressed with food and service. Menu has good choices. All food arrived hot and was of good quality. The portion sizes were also good value for money. Based on our experience would certainly recomend.

I'm so glad that Sara G had a good experience, when the delivery messed up her order. I however had completely the opposite customer service! I rang this restaurant after Just Eat said they had delivered, but we never received our food. The arrogant person identifying himself as Akil, the manager, told us that it wasn't their problem, after keeping me on the phone for over five minutes, chasing up our order, and to get in touch with Just Eat. No apology, nothing. The fish and chips are nice from here, but there are other chippies in Bolton, you know!? Disgraceful
