We hired the private function room for my husbands birthday and had the most amazing time. David is a great DJ and he managed our party beautifully. Amy and Saffron were also so helpful and amazing. Would highly recommend for events!

Was served by staff member who was unfriendly and barely spoke English, second member of staff looked under age and was also not friendly. When I inquired about a potential table booking I was cross examined as to why I wanted to book the table, what ages my guests would be and to confirm there and then the exact number. When I asked why they wanted to know all of this I was met with stoney silence, very rude. Avoid

Have just returned from a lovely evening in the Brave New World which has just reopened following the second lockdown. Although previously only drinks were served, a brand new shiny kitchen has been installed along with a new chef and now food is on offer also! We had the frites (nice, crisp and delicious) and the squid (also cooked beautifully). Burgers, calamari and chicken goujons were also on offer. The whole bar was extremely clean and we felt very comfortable that the Covid restrictions were being adhered to. We will definitely be returning!

Absolutely perfect venue with lovely friendly staff members!! I hired their Games Room for a baby shower on Saturday 04th August and it was perfect! Steve was amazing at booking the room for me and the price was incredible!! We were allowed to bring in our own food and decorations but of course bought all drinks from the bar. The bar was so reasonably priced and the staff were so friendly and willing to help! The bar put out a 'closed for private function sign' outside the games room which was a lovely touch to really gives us that private affect! The whole evening was perfect all to the thanks of Steve and his team! Highly recommended for any private functions, would book again in a heartbeat! Thank You!

I live locally and this was my "pub of choice" for many years, i would pop in once or twice a week for a couple on my way home from work. Its a shame that what was once a really good pub has now become such a mess. If you have any problems or need an issue resolved make sure its done during the day time as there is never any management in there after 6 o'clock. The children behind the bar are left to run it, however not sure what help they will be, as it seems to be a race to see who can get drunk first, the staff or the customers, (usually the bar staff)

I remember this public house many years ago as The Bun Shop. Unfortunately, since the good old days have all but died out now - 'at least' where many public houses are concerned, It's hard to find one that caters for all groups. Yes, If you need a small venue for a party then this pub could work for you, although they do only have the one room for venues, as the pub itself stays open to the public, & they would still need to access the bit you'd be paying to rent, for the WC's & the Garden (for the smokers). The smokers often congregate outside on the entrance step too, which Is annoying If like myself, your a non smoker, & don't wish to be walking through clouds of their smoke. The landlady DOESN'T allow workmen In their In their work clobber either. There Is a pool table & Darts area within the pub, although these area's are also surrounded by other drinkers on the Leather sofas & chairs. If you're just needing a quick watering hole to quench your thirst, then you may enjoy having a few sherbets here. I wouldn't recommend this public house for children though.

The pub serves reasonably decent ales, which and makes for convenient post-meeting autopsy drinks, although the comfort of the seating is limited.

I have been to this pub a good few times in the last decade and it has consistently gone down hill every time I have been there. Grimy, full of people with runny noses who seem to spend an awful lot of time in the toilet together (bit weird as there is sully about 5% female clientele) and is really in need of a face lift. The music is generic pub music without any inspiration or thought. Personally, I would suggest using any other pub in surbiton. Failing that grab a six pack and drink it on the bench in the park in the rain and you will probably have a more fulfilling evening.

It's riddled with grime, large groups of lads all in the toilet together, for a private chat I'm sure. If you like drinking flat beer and feeling unsafe then this is the place for you.

I'd not been here until I was looking for somewhere to have my 30th birthday bash and saw that they had a function room. For £150, I hired out the room which also get's 'exclusive' use of the courtyard. I say 'exclusive', as a few of the locals ended up sitting there all night and on a few occasions, even helped themselves to the buffet I had put on for the party. Yes, this did really annoy me and I did feel the staff should have done something about it, but it wasn't the end of the world. I love the decor in this place, as it's quite dark but they also had lights out in the courtyard. The pub even recommended someone to do the music for my party. As my brother used to be a DJ, this guy rented me the equipment and let my brother use it for the evening. I found the bar staff very down to earth and friendly and there were no issues at all about me doing whatever I wanted at the party (within reaosn of course!) and no problem getting the deposit back. The pub is only a 5-10 minute walk from Surbiton station, so is a great location. Highly recommended.

Went to this pub recently to see a band, the good thing being it was a free gig so great, only thing was we decided to leave when the band took their break due mainly to 3 particular guys who spent the whole time talking, no sorry SHOUTING at eachother to make themselves heard over the band, this meant that everyone around them were forced into listening to their conversation as well( which was littered with f--- this and f--- that) now you might say that we should have asked them to keep it down a bit, or possibly move to a different part of the pub, (they had no interest or respect for the band anyway) but you never know how people are going to react do you? If these were local guys they're probably regulars in which case I wouldn't dream of going back, shame really because the band were good, but what's the point of going if the evening is ruined by idiots!

Arrived for afternoons tea 2pm ,very surprised only cups ,No Saucers ,had to carry our own tea to table and wait for food .Food was delicious and presented nicely but it arrived 10 mins later .We had practically finished the tea .Why can the staff not bring tea over with the food ?I know it’s a cafe but have some etiquette,I think everyone associates afternoon tea is a cup and saucer must that’s part of the experience

Jonathan Personal Gibbs 46 reviews Dine in | Brunch | £1–10 Following the demise of the much loved Jaxx, a period without a local cafe, and a couple of stuttering starts, the OLRC has found its feet and become a treasured community cafe. For sure there are slicker venues - better food and classier decor - to be found locally, but there is now a real sense of a local shared space and an regular eclectic mix of patrons. As a daily vistor I've noticed the vibe change between times of day, day of week, and college term times. You kinda sign up for that before you enter. I haven't experienced their ccasional evening live entertainments so can't comment. Pet friendly, this has become my dogs' second home, along with a cute kitten and (as previously noted) the occasional pair of parakeets.
