The Brasserie Chalon in St. Helens

Gone down hill, place looks like a s**t hole no leadership, no atmosphere anymore such a shame as it was really picking up last year

A nice pint, but a brassiere that doesn't serve food is a bit weird. Seems popular with the horse betting crowd, a lot of interest given to events in Chepstow whilst I was there. I marked down as average due to the complete lack of food, not even sandwiches

We used this place a few times couple of years back, it was always quiet and plenty of space ideal if you just wanted a quiet pint and a chat. Tried it again recently and there have been some changes, very busy and loud music, not many free tables to choose from but its nice to see business booming, Not the quiet drink we wanted but a very pleasant bottle of Newcastle

Now the dictionary definition of a brasserie is 'an unpretentious restaurant, tavern, or the like, that serves drinks, especially beer, and simple or hearty food'. Well that really kind of sums up this place. Tucked away down a lane off the main St Helens shopping street and the atmosphere is quite nice in here. It has a somewhat older clientele and a more relaxed feel.
