We came for some much-needed R & R and booked two rooms—one in the main building, which was fine, and another in the outside building. Unfortunately, the experience with the outside room was far from satisfactory. It was cold, the duvet was too thin, and the hot water wasn't turned on. To make matters worse, the lighting was complicated to operate, leaving us to sleep the first night with the light on. When we reported these issues to the staff, we were met with no apology. The manager was dismissive and rude, and despite the discomfort, they refused to move us to another room unless we paid extra. While they did eventually turn on the hot water and provide an extra duvet, the lack of empathy and poor customer service left us very disappointed. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

The initial impression when you walk into this beautiful building is that you’re really in for a great Sunday roast lunch. As expected, it was very full and noisy. We only had mains and starters. The plates were cold for the mains. The hot metal gravy jugs had no handles, so very difficult to pick up. The meat was ok but the rest was just very average. The dessert looked like it had been served in a hurry, but tasted ok. The gents toilets were broken. Some of the young waiters/waitresses knew what they were doing, others didn’t. I wish they wouldn’t add 12.5% service charge by default, you feel rude if you ask them to remove it. In conclusion, it’s got so much potential, but there is great room for improvement.

Fantastic standard of accommodation with some great contemporary features. The baths in the rooms (outside ablutions / showers) are certainly a highlight. Food also exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel / gastropub for couples.

Such a disappointment. Having eaten here once before, really expected so much better. The service was very slow indeed. Ordered a burger for a child - it was served rare - completely inappropriate. Two more burgers were ordered which were also pretty raw - all three were returned and after what seemed like an eternity the child’s burger was replaced. After a further wait the other two burgers were replaced with burnt (blackened) burger buns - totally inedible! The cost of these was removed from the bill but the experience ruined a lovely visit to Stourhead Christmas light event. I will not return and will not be recommending the Bradley Hare to anyone in future. It’s a lovely building and the staff were pleasant. Such a shame. .

We had high expectations of The Bradley Hare, and first impressions were very favourable, with a beautiful dining and bar area, and friendly welcome. Unfortunately, our Sunday lunch meal was underwhelming. All of our main courses were lukewarm at best, and the celeriac steak appeared boiled rather than pan fried, so was dry and tasteless. The roast potatoes were rock hard, such that I had to scoop the potato from the centre and leave the shells, and the meat quality of the roast beef was poor, with many stringy pieces. Three of us had the apple and quince crumble and ice cream for pudding, which was nicer, although more of a pie than a crumble. Service was very laid back, although not too slow. We wouldn’t rush back. We went and had coffee in the general stores over the road which was delightful.

Excellent lunch at the Bradley Hare yesterday. Warm friendly atmosphere. The bar manager has developed a bespoke collection signature cocktails, including a fabulous Spicy Margarita including home-marinated chillies in tequila. Delicious! My guest had a home-made cheeseburger with all the trimmings, my palate being smaller I had a starter portion of scallops and black pudding in a tasty sauce. Actually very filling. All rounded off with a high-end cheeseboard. The 2022 Villa Wolf Pinot Noir from Germany, which also comes in 500ml carafes, is good value given the quality.

Such a great midweek evening of celebration. So many thoughtful touches, the welcome note, the toiletries; thanks so much to Bjorn and the team. The dinner was delicious, but also the cake, the margaritas, the fresh orange juice. The rooms are full of character, lovely shower. But ask for a room away from the road if you enjoy sleeping with the window open!

A brilliant destination for an exclusive use booking. We spent the night and had a brilliant evening celebrating our friend’s birthday. The staff were attentive and friendly. The rooms luxurious and comfortable - the only problem was we were there for only one night! Can’t wait to go back.

Booked an overnight stay at the Bradley Hare and will thank the team for a very enjoyable experience. It was late September, so you would expect it to be fairly quiet but it was great to hear all the rooms were booked. It is a food-led Pub with excellent and well appointed rooms and it ticked all the boxes on our visit. The greeting was informative, the room very clean and spacious with a great bed! The bar served Butcombe Original and had a good range of beverages but Dinner was the best. We went for the Duck dish and the Venison and both proved excellent choices. The Duck was cooked perfectly and I have never had such tender Venison loin before - It was superb! The choice of wines were straightforward and a good number available by the glass. After a good nights sleep, Breakfast was very good with brilliant landrace sourdough toast that was addictive! If you want friendly, helpful, informal service from real people serving great produce, this is somewhere you will enjoy.

This was our second visit and we were shocked to have such a disappointing experience. No water was brought to the table for about 15 mins and then another 10 to receive our drinks. Then our roast were very slow to come out and when they did, the beef was pretty tough. It was really hard to then get another round of drink even though there were a lot of staff on that day. The staff were lovely but we could understand why everything was so slow. Coffees came out luke warm and I think this was just about the last straw. We were so disappointed to come back to this pub and have such a different experience. Would definitely no longer be recommending this spot.

The Bradley Hare is an elegant enterprise but tends to cater for diners and private parties rather than dog walkers looking for a pint and a sandwich; indeed the lunchtime snack menu is almost non existent. On occasions the bar closes completely to facilitate private functions. In short, the Bradley Hare is perhaps more of a "restaurant with rooms" rather than a traditional hostelry.

Stayed here last night en route home from visiting friends near Shaftesbury. What a find! From start to finish, great staff, super food, wonderful cocktails and a truly beautiful room (I stayed in the Coach House opposite). This is how pubs / restaurants with rooms should be done. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great stay in the area and I hope to return again soon.

We decided to visit this pub with some friends after reading an article about it in the travel section of The Times. Was the chef on holiday? After taking drinks in the garden, we made our way inside for lunch. Two of our party ordered starters of beetroot and goats cheese tart. We had to wait quite a long time for them to arrive. I think tartelette might have been a better description. For main course, we ordered one coley with a side of broccoli, one cheeseburger, one pasta with mushrooms (£26!) and one beetroot and goats cheese tart with a side of fries and green salad. We waited another age for these to arrive. The coley and broccoli were luke warm, the small bowl of pasta was congealed and also luke warm and worst of all my wife's 'green' salad consisted of four lettuce leaves with small crawling beasts among them. We called over the waiter who apologised and offered a replacement, but we accepted his offer to take some items off the bill and a 20% discount. We would have much rather had a good experience. To deliver food of this low standard of quality and poor service whilst charging top end prices is just unacceptable. Unlike The Times, we will not be recommending it to any of our friends.

Stayed for a night as part of a walking holiday. The room was outstanding, a really, really nice bath and separate bathroom, nicely decorated. It is pricey but then it is also quality. Food for dinner and breakfast was fantastic - although some might quibble about having to pay extra for a hot breakfast, we thought the continental options on offer were excellent. Dinner was memorable and some fantastic, unique cocktails on offer too. Not really much room for pre-dinner drinks and bear in mind to get your idea of the venue right before trying, the Bradley Hare is definitely more of a restaurant with rooms than a local pub!

Visiting StourHead we decided to stay over and my wife booked the Bradley Hare for one night. The welcome was good and the room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. Before dinner we had a couple of drinks in the bar and the only negative comment would be the lack of seating for pre dinner drinks. Dinner was a limited menu which is not a negative but as one dish was fried rabbit and given the vegetarian dishes it left me with little choice of my liking. Having said that the starter of Mackerel with pickled rhubarb was lovely and my main of Hake was also very nice though a few too many tomatoes for me. We were though disappointed with my wife’s starter. She loves crab and so a dish which stated ‘crab meat’ in the description ( Menu description: Crab Meat, radish, dill & parsley salad on toast £12 ) had do be a must. When it was served it was leaves drizzled with a cream sauce, not a sign of crab ‘meat’ as the description. I called the waiter assuming something was wrong but we were told the crab ‘meat’ was made into a sauce. That to me is not crab ‘meat’ as described on the menu but the head waited looked at me as though I was an inexperienced diner which I am definitely not. That somewhat spoiled our experience at the Bradley Hare. After checking out we received an email saying we owed £9 for items we had used from the mini bar which needed to be paid for. We had only used the water which we didn’t expect to pay extra for. After advising we hadn’t used anything other than water we received an apology. I can’t see us returning.

The Bradley Hare was the perfect place to both relax and explore! With Stourhead, Hauser & Worth, Bruton and some lovely walks from the pub we could have stayed for much longer. The team were really friendly, but the food was the showstopper. The team was great, and the vibe felt as welcoming to locals as visitors. We'll be back!

We visited with family from France with dog who were looking forward to visiting for coffee and a light snack for lunch,we arrived on a dry bright Sunday lunch, although relatively busy, there were several tables empty, albeit full of dirty leftovers, when we pointed this out to the lovely girl behind d counter she promptly cleared table and wiped, from this point expectations fell away quickly, there was absolutely nothing to eat except carrot cake or muffins fresh or pre packed biscuits and flapjack ! We mentioned this to the counter staff who just said sorry were short staffed and low on food, there were 8 members of staff behind the counter ! Oh well, we ordered coffee which hit the spot first round fine, second round incorrect, then members of our party wished to visit the loo before leaving, a queue of several people waiting constantly to use 1 toilet that was disgustingly dirty from top to bottom ! All in all a poor experience of what some 18 months ago was a lovely place to visit, maybe it was just an Off day, but to have that many staff not doing a lot or cared a lot, not sure I would be in a hurry to revisit

I could not sit upstairs with my hot choco the lady rudely told me I could not eat upstairs, making me nervous I then went downstairs and got pushed out the way by more angry staff when I tucked into my greasy grub it was all cold and sloppy a mirror of the staff who work there. Furthermore, the prices are ridiculous I have never seen small business charge so much on supermarket quality rubbish. Won't go again.
