Visited the Bracebridge yesterday with high hopes and really looking forward to a quality meal. We booked for 4pm and service immediately took a drinks order which was good. We were advised there are only 3 beef dinners left and one lamb so to order quickly. For a party of 6 this wasn't ideal. My 10year old agreed to find something on the children's menu, to then be advised what he wanted isn't available off both the starter option and main. No vegetarian option for a Sunday lunch however I was advised they could do celeriac as a replacement. When this arrived it looked interested but I soon discovered it was entirely undercooked, very little flavour/seasoning and just felt like a low effort way of feeding a vegetarian. The beef dinners arrived and it was more of a chunk of beef that transpired to be pulled beef that seemed to have been set. Beyond dry and looked like it was pre prepared as soon as service opened. I commented on how awful mine was and it was taken off the bill. The rest of the table didn't want to make a fuss. Furious we still even paid to be honest. Won't return or recommend. Pity as the environment is absolutely gorgeous and outside looked beautiful lit up. Perhaps if they do a bar menu I would rather sit outside and try that

Desperately disappointing Went there on a First table offer to assess it for a future family gathering Good job we did Restaurant was really cold 13degrees Celsius inside. Inordinately long wait for food Monfish tail and Duck as mains below average and barely warm Monkfish had a strange taste that I did not recognise but was told afterwards was Sriracha butter. Duck was rubbery Waited in the cold again for desserts. Tiramisu was passable Blackberry frangipane was essentially a burnt pastry case filled with blackberries and Al sorbet quinnell on top. Service was ok Rez did his best to make excuses for the poor food and didn’t really know his menu. Poor show altogether Will not be returning Will be advising friends not to go Would not recommend

Upon arrival wasn’t greeted had to seat ourselves. Customer service was appalling on this visit had to ask for plates and cutlery when food eventually arrived. The new menu wasn’t impressed with the options changed a lot of the best sellers also wasn’t told some of the items were sold out on the menu until we were placing our order. WiFi not existent, really hard to use your phone on the terrance. It wasn’t very busy so I don’t understand why customer service was lacking on this visit. Sadly I wouldn’t return or recommend.

Had a fabulous meal at the Bracebridge Restaurant , Service was excellent and it’s a beautiful spot in Sutton Park. It was our first visit under New ownership. Would we go back sadly no, nothing to do with the Restaurant Food, Service or ambiance. But the road through to Sutton Park and the Venue is absolutely disgusting!! Huge Pot Holes every few feet, it was like taking part in the Dakar Rally !! And trying to leave late at night with no lights is not an easy task. This business won’t survive if the council don’t sort out the disgraceful road. Which would be a real shame . David Hadley-Smith visited on 2024-09-14

Upon arriving we were asked if we wanted drinks or food, with this being a little low key celebration for our engagement we just wanted a couple of drinks with some friends. It was cold outside, 12 degrees at max, understandably we wanted to sit inside. However, The Bracebridge had other ideas. We were told inside is only for food and outside is for drinks. Confused, I said, can’t we just sit indoors? There wasn’t anyone inside, it was so quiet, totally dead on a Tuesday night, but no… at The Bracebridge you are forced to sit outside in the cold if you are just having drinks!! This is really poor behaviour for customers, especially on a night where it’s this dead. We were one of very few people there, with us… about 10 total. So, we sit outside, with the heatlamp on full blast, burning one side of your face, glaring at you like you’re some sort of reptile. Talking of animals, there are rats running around outside, we spotted at least two! Then there’s the bugs, we all had been bitten and had to deal with batting off the moths!! It’s fine… it’s outside, we’re in the elements after all. Then, there’s how the drinks are managed. Could we just start a tab and then order? Nope, every drinks order was instant payment at the table. I just know, if we sat inside, this wouldn’t be the case. Dear The Bracebridge team: How on earth are you expecting customers to come back if you shove them outside in the cold when you’re restaurant has no one in it. It’s absolutely ridiculous that you’d do this. Also, the manager was quite rude and just had a the bluntest look on his face the entire time. I’m unsure of your model here… when it’s -3 outside are you going to still ask people to sit outside for just drinks? What’s the plan here? Only food in winter? Perhaps you should put this on your website to warn people… “you’ll have to wear a coat if you just want drinks, oh and bring sun cream for one side of your face.” I won’t be coming back, and I’ll be sharing this experience with others. Finally, fix the road, it’s like a 4x4 off road experience day getting to the pub.

I am leaving this review on behalf of my parents who visited today. My brother purchased them a voucher on buy a gift for the 5 course taster menu. On behalf of my parents (who are in their 70’s), I followed the instructions on the voucher to make a reservation and this in turn took me to an online booking platform ‘Tock’, which is not easy to navigate. We wanted to query the £20 cancellation fee as the voucher had been paid for upfront, but when I called the head office number nobody was available to speak to on a Monday and Tuesday, therefore were told to contact restaurant directly by email. A reply was sent with contradicting information (the cancellation fee would be refunded on arrival, elsewhere it stated it would be taken off the final bill). I followed the instructions provided on the email and my parents received email confirmation. When they got to the restaurant they were told as the reservation did not show the voucher details ‘5 course taster meal’ they would not be able to dine and the £20 cancellation fee was refunded. My parents asked to speak to a manager but this was not possible and they were given the head office number ‘to rearrange’. The lady who dealt with them said it was not possible for her to rebook them. My parents left the restaurant and made a call to head office, who applied the voucher there and then and said they could now go back in and dine. If they had driven home, they would have missed out on their lunch. The whole situation put a dampener on the experience. Whilst they could not fault the food, and felt sorry for the girl who had to turn them away initially due to what can only be described as a shocking booking system, they would not return due to their experience. The lack of manager engagement is also a cause for concern.

Popped in here today after half way thru a long walk. We decided on pizza & a fish finger sandwich with a drink, the Peroni offered wasn't proper Peroni it was the Capri version which wasn't as nice. Although I ate all my pizza as I was hungry, it was a bit soggy in the middle, so when I picked up a piece it flopped & everything fell off. My partners fish finger bap (not sandwich) she said was very nice, but the fries were already salted & she doesn't have salt on them normally.

This restaurant is in a lovely setting, and new owners are doing a good job to turn ot into an accessible venue. I think it is well worth a visit, so a couple of points I will make ate not intended to put people off. I think the outdoor setting is still trying to reach a decision on the vibe the owners want as this feels a bit confused. This may be my personal preference, but the music was very loud and club like, and I'd was hard to converse at the tables. It is great that the outdoor setting is dog friendly. However, very loud music is not great for settling dogs. Perhaps theme nights may be a solution or to be clear if the outdoor setting is aimed at younger customers. That said food and service were very good and the setting was lovely. Just perhaps sort out what you want the venue to be and who it is aimed at. There is scope to attract a wide customer base, but this does need to be thought through. I hope it goes well and develops and as outlined i would reccommended a visit.

Visited a couple of weeks ago, service was horrendous, apparently they had a lot of staff call in sick (which they mentioned could have been due to a school end of year party). The next day we received an email apologising for the operational issues and telling us that they would be sending out a token of appreciation and an apology the same day. Still nothing almost two weeks later. In fact, I chased it up a week ago and was told it was a large task to get through but that I would again receive it the same day or day after!! All I ask is for the restaurant to do what they say they are going to do, and if you can’t meet the timelines you set out then at least keep your customers updated! It’s a shame as it’s a great location, but clearly customer service isn’t their strength!

Very poor quality and pittyful portions at an extremely high price. All of the food tasted as if it had been soaked in a bucket of salt. We all joked when the starters came as they were so pitifully small. The chicken was cooked until it was completely dried out and covered in a small amount of sauce to disguise the fact.. When the waitress asked if we were happy with the food. I replied, very disappointed. When the waitress became slightly agressive and deffensive and did not sound genuine in her apology. She did offer to return the food to the kitchen but as people can be vindictive I was wise enough not to take up this offer. No coffees or sweet were ordered after the main course as we were all so disapointed with what we had received. When I payed the bill I said I was disappointed with the meal and the gentleman I payed it to did not even ask why, so as a consequence was obviously not interested. All the food was consumed but not enjoyed. Eaten out of hunger.

Almost good. Nice ambience but the food is overpriced for what you get, £32 for underseasoned duck breast or £26 for a chicken schnitzel (sold as truffle chicken) is a bit crazy. Nice setting but unjustifiable prices. About half of the drinks in the bar were out of stock and the dissapointment continues when the gin and tonics you do order do not come with any ice in... Food is good quality but standard bistro fodder really and charging £30+ for a main then having to pay £6 for a side of greens to go with it is crazy. On the menu the deserts look like a more reasonable price, however in reality the portion sizes are miniscule and more of a pre-dessert than an actual pudding. They continue the trend of adding service charge to the bill, but not identifying this as discretionary or even stating the percentage added onto the bill is particularly cheeky. Drop the prices to be more in line with what you would expect from a bistro and polish up the service and this could be a brilliant restaurant.

Im a local and have seen this place transition over the decades and I'm delighted to see a different restaurant design change in comparison to the past tenants. Tasty veggie options on the pizza menu. Evident fresh ingredients have been used. We went on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and a few glasses of wine and a few beers after a bike ride. Service was impeccable and food was delicious 😋. I'm a stickler for a uninterrupted view and I think the perimeter glass has a major design flaw. When seated, at eye level your pan view across the lake is interrupted by a PVC panel which blocks the best bit of the veiw, when the treeline meets the surface of the lake. Call me pedantic but either the window panels need swapping our the chairs need to be higher. Trimming the hedge in the front of the glass would also aid the view, which in my opinion should be the focus of the restaurant aswell as good food. I will be returning for sure.

Came here on Sunday for our mums birthday celebration. Automated booking system is really frustrating and not good that you can't contact restaurant to discuss your booking then when at restaurant we were told the booking system is separate from them so anything told by the people you email about booking isn't known or from the restaurant, makes any issues that arise very hard to get sorted out. Were told on booking due to the fact people have been no shows you have to pay a deposit to book a table. £10 each person. Fair enough. But it isn't clearly stated that this isn't taken off the bill, infact we were told it would be taken off the bill. It isn't. You have to pay the whole bill then wait for a refund of your deposit from the place you booked it. My nephew was poorly so my sister contacted after trying for ages to directly contact the restaurant, you can't. We didn't want to cancel we just wanted to change date. Was 2 days before, but were told because it wasn't 48 hours that we wouldn't get deposit back, we didn't want it we wanted to change the date. They said they couldn't and we would have to rebook, which would mean paying another £10 each deposit. But we would get both deposits taken off the bill on the day. This was stated in an email. So we paid £80 deposit (2 x £40) to rebook just over a week later, on the understanding it would be taken off the bill. 3 of us had the 2 course roasts. It all comes on plates and bowls that you serve onto your own plate. We noticed the table next to us which was 2 people had the same amount of veg and potatoes we had to share between 3 of us. Which we thought for £35 was very small. The beef came very rare. We weren't asked how we wanted it cooked on ordering it. This should be stated and option for more well done given. Food itself was nice (except for the beef being too rare) but for the price the portions are very very small. Neither deposits had been taken off the bill. We questioned this and were told we would have an email about a refund for it. We said it was stated in an email it would be taken off the bill. We were told no, it's refund separately. So we checked for the email but only one was to be refunded. We asked about the second and the staff knew nothing about this. Said they couldn't do anything and we would have to contact the booking system people again who had sent the email. As we weren't happy paying £80 again we were told would be taken off the bill, and having to wait for £40 to be refunded then chase the other £40 we asked them again if they could sort it out. Showed the email stating it would be taken off. After some back and forth the extra £40 was taken off and they said they would sort it with the other people when they could get hold of them as they too couldn't get hold of them. Another shock was the large service charge added on. Another £20 roughly added on. No mention of this anywhere until you get your bill. With the price of the food and small portion sizes (desserts too are small) we thought this was steep and an another unexpected addition. It made the whole thing stressful and frustrating. Definitely ridiculous that the booking people aren't the restaurant. There isn't any way to change anything. Then even with an email off them stating the deposit would be taken off we had to discuss back and forth with staff that we weren't prepared to keep paying extra especially the 2nd deposit which seems was hit and miss if we'd get it back after we left and would have cause more stress and more emails. The steep service charge should be openly stated. And the food you get is definitely not worth the price you pay. Very overpriced. And a very stressful and frustrating time in what should have been a nice birthday celebration I will say staff were very accommodating with highchair and space for pushchair for my nephew and giving us a bowl of hot water to warm his food up in. And staff were good during our visit, just a shame for the deposit issue and back and forth to sort it. Unfortunately as lovely as the setting is, we won't be back.

We dined in the restaurant and the food and service was absolutely tremendous, I can not fault it in any way, everything we was served was first class, we will definitely be returning. The only negative was the road to get there, and the parking, the road is in such a bad state of repair, some of the pot holes are like a bomb has just detonated there, but that is no fault of The Bracebridge, that is Birmingham City Councils fault, and I will not downgrade any ratings from the restaurant itself, because of this.

My hubbie and I went to the bank holiday event as our first visit to the newly opened restaurant under new ownership. The team bent over backwards to ensure everyone had a good time and accommodated our last minute booking changes requested. Great music on the terrace and a lively vibe. Enjoyed a fabulous pizza but unfortunately the cheese burger was not to our taste - being served medium rare was unexpected, though I was advised after that we could ask for it to be well done. The team actively sought and responded positively to feedback on their first event and have identified a number of changes that will make the next event even better. Thanks for a great night, we will definitely be back, and wish the new business all the best and future success.

Great food, reasonable service but utterly appalling acoustics. I could not eat there again as my ears couldn’t take it!! There was a 30th party for about 8 and they certainly sounded like they were having a great time … problem is … their shrieks drowned out the whole of the restaurant which meant everyone else had to shout to be heard. It was like trying to eat a meal in the middle of a market. Totally spoiled the occasion. We were going there for 3 courses but had to leave after one. Such a shame. The patio wasn’t much better as it had a pretty dreadful and loud DJ. I love music but heaven knows what they think their target market is … certainly not families with grandchildren prepared to spend a reasonable amount. The fish and chips by the way was superb as was the fillet steak. Such a shame but wouldn’t go back unless they sorted the acoustics. .

The Bracebridge transcends being merely the finest restaurant in Birmingham; it stands as a true gem that demands experiencing. Upon entry, I was immediately captivated by its ambiance, service, and, paramountly, its culinary offerings. Each dish presented a harmonious blend of flavors and impeccable presentation, surpassing all expectations. Undoubtedly, The Bracebridge has established a new pinnacle for dining excellence in Birmingham.

Perfect spot! For a summers evening or winters… beautiful outdoor terrace area overlooking the lake, with throws and heaters to keep you toasty on colder nights. Food was limited in the terraced area to more ‘boujee pub style’, unfortunately they don’t do Sunday dinners on the terrace area which we didnt understand as we were most looking forward to that? Service was good, table wasn’t cleaned when we arrived but they were busy. Won’t stop us from coming back! Looking forward to a summers evening here! 🌞

Upon arrival was informed by "manager" that we had an hour and 45 to complete our meal as the table was required for the next guests, what a way to be greeted ! The waitress had to ask another member of staff what the spreads were that accompanied the soda bread(turned out to be marmite !) No one asked how the meal was ,during service ,though we did inform staff at the end that the monkfish was cold. Didn't appear to have many vegetarian options, no specials board. No one asked if we would like coffee or cognac !!! For the money we paid ,not a great experience ...think i will take my service (and money) somewhere that actually likes Customers !

We were delighted to hear The Bracebridge was reopening and had high hopes after learning Andrew Sheridan & The Craft restaurant group were now behind it. Our first visit was Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day, opting for the Roast served family style. And what a Roast it was. The house made crisps with balsamic foam and house spiced nuts were a perfectly proportioned snack paired perfectly with the sparkling Chapel Down; the slow roasted Baby Chicken retained its moisture, the accompanying vegetables and trimmings suitably indulgent. The GBM winning Rice Pudding lives up to its billing and the Sticky Toffee Pudding a very welcome crowd pleaser. The house pilsner is a must try for any ale fan, the wine list by glass or bottle short and sweet. What makes the Bracebridge stand out amongst local peers is its idyllic waterside location and warm welcome led by Alex and his team - overall, exceptional local restaurant worthy of any occasion. Highly recommend you visit and try for yourself - we will certainly be back. 😋👌🏽

We were excited to return to the Bracebridge, a stunning venue which has always had pretty average food. It’s not long re-opened under new ownership with renowned chef Andrew Sheridan part owner so we were hopeful that finally this area would get a decent restaurant without the normal £60 taxi bills into Brum. We love to eat out, and Sutton is crying out for a top notch restaurant. The venue is very glamorous, the service is polite and efficient, nothing to fault here. The menu is extremely limited and to be honest not fitting for the venue or its decor, think old fashioned pub food with a bit of a twist eg. Fish finger sandwiches, sausage and mash, burger; the monkfish tails in curried sauce was my preferred choice but I struggled with chips or mashed potato and green beans in tarragon cream as a side or a caesar salad. Our starters were lovely , but our main course choice was sold out and disappointingly my alternative was dry and uninspiring and the caesar salad was swimming in dressing with what felt like a pound of parmesan cheese grated on top. We perhaps chose the wrong venue for a Saturday night out, we booked before the menu was published The venue is still stunning but the quality of menu and cooking will need to improve to tempt people away from the local pubs which are better value and quality of cooking is better. You can have great, high quality ingredients but they still need to be cooked well and inspiring enough for people to keep coming back. For now we will be booking the taxis to Brum, but hope to hear better experiences in the coming months.

Not the wow factor we where expecting ! We arranged to meet friends and have a drink at the bar first , when they arrived 20 mins before table booking we where abruptly told table ready and you have a fast turn around and we have the table for 1hour 45 . The monkfish was very good but needed to be warmer and need an option of vegetables to order that wasn’t in a sauce ! We wasn’t offered coffee!

Date night with the wife at The Bracebridge this evening. I have very fond memories of The Bracebridge, I couldn’t help but think, the new owners have some very big boots to fill. Where do I start…. From the second we stepped foot in the restaurant we were completely blown away. The dark green and gold art deco style restaurant with amazing views of the lake, is a beautiful place to sit and relax. Served by Nick and Jen who made the night even more special, considering it only reopened a week ago, they didn’t put a step wrong. The food was the highlight, the best meal we have had in a long time. I highly recommend the scallop starter and you have to finish with the rice pudding, Nick told us that it was one of the dishes that landed head chef Andy Sheridan the win on Great British Menu. Will definitely be going back, and can’t wait to sit on the terrace in the summer drinking cocktails all day.

We attended The Bracebridge over the weekend after its recent 2024 reopening and I’m delighted to see that it’s returned stronger than ever! As locals we’ve dined at this location for at least 7-8 years now, so it’s wonderful to see it return under new ownership with beautiful decor, a friendly team of people and delicious food. The lake views from this restaurant are just spectacular! I chose the fish & chips for my main meal. The fish was beautifully cooked, paired with chunky chips and a selection of delicious sauces (the curry sauce was a 10/10!). I then opted for the rice pudding dessert which was on ‘The Great British Menu’ and it brought back many happy childhood memories (so yummy!). The staff were really hospitable and were also very sweet with our young children. They enjoyed colouring in their children’s activity sheets and our little girls both gave their food a thumbs up! Their food was prepared just as lovely as the adult dishes. It’s great to have a restaurant in the area that has mastered both great service and delicious food (the Sunday roast looks incredible too - I’ll be returning on a Sunday very soon!!). Whether you’re looking for a date night meal, family occasion or Sunday Roast - I’d highly recommend this beautiful restaurant with the best views in Birmingham!

My partner and I were excited to try this place for the first time since reopening. It’s a lovely setting and the new decor is nice. The service was great and staff were attentive, however we felt the quality of the food didn’t reflect the price. When you pay £18 for sausages and mash you expect a good portion including some veg however this wasn’t the case. My partner had plain and flavourless sausages. The green beans we ordered as a side were undercooked and crunchy. The truffle gnocchi I ordered was also a very small portion and disappointing as we were unable to taste any truffle. In fact, it was dominated by whole mushrooms. Again for the price, the quality wasn’t good. Lastly, it’s very limited for vegetarian diners (only 1 main meal option).

Delighted to visit and see the refurb which is subtle but well executed. Despite being lashing outside we were a little disappointed not to be asked for our coats but a minor point all in. The menu is small but perfectly formed and our food was superb. We both had scallops for starters which were up there for quality. Very very tasty and beautifully presented. I had the fish and chips which was excellent but could have maybe a tiny bit less greasy ( place the fish on kitchen roll for a couple of seconds) but beautifully presented. The batter was very light. The curry sauce, mushy peas and tartare sauce were all superb. My wife had the chicken milanese which was lovely and served with the most lovely Parmesan chips. All top quality. For pudding we shared the sorbets which were excellent. We’re both delighted it’s back and both very impressed with the food. The table service was excellent but just feel as though they could do with a little more training as to how to greet guests. The finer points will improve and you cannot but wish them success. With a setting like that it deserves to do really well.

We went on Saturday night and were thoroughly underwhelmed! Having been a customer of this venue since it was the boat house I didn’t think you could go wrong with such a lovely setting but the service, strange menu which tries and fails to combine lunch and dinner offerings and attitude of the staff was terrible! Had to pour my own wine all night, chateaubriand was served in a bowl of oil and grease, no steak knives, no sauces to accompany this dish, chips were cold and starters served to the corner of the table like they were put down by mistake with the waiter running off 😂 The dessert was a very odd offering of sticky toffee pudding with mango sorbet and round slices of banana which was disgusting 🤢 Diners were all complaining around us and the staff seemed to find it amusing… you honestly couldn’t comprehend how little training the staff seemed to have. The place was empty and we were then told we needed to pay the bill and go by the front of house, despite having a third of a bottle of wine to drink having only been in the venue 2 hours and eaten three courses. We were going to just pay and leave but after he was so rude we complained… which we hate doing. No wonder the place was half full on a Saturday night! It seems the place has finally gone to the wrong hands and how sad it is! AVOID!

Came here for the first time and the staff upon arrival were extremely helpful and pleasant. Our server Nick had a calming presence and worked quickly considering he was on his own. The manager made us feel uncomfortable with the tone he used to speak to a member of staff for an unnecessary issue while we were being spoken to by them. The food was really tasty and so filling! Excited to see this place this place in the sunshine.

The food , the location , the decor and the service were excellent. And we all enjoyed it very much. However I would like to add a few tweaks. It is not cheap, and I feel that you could offer a lunchtime menu . the portions were huge. personally think that a jug of water and a plate of bread should be served complimentary as in other establishments Also I would have liked the option of plain green veg, like broccoli or spinach to compliment the delicious monkfish. Or even a plain salad that said, it was lovely, but pricey.

We visited The Newly refurbished Bracebridge for Sunday Lunch, Glad we did..... From beginning to end the whole experience was First Class, Wonderful atmosphere in a busy yet relaxed environment. Very good menu which has very cleverly been put together, Great Work by Andy Sheridan, we are looking forward to experiencing the dinner menu very soon. Roast Beef to die for, with lots of vegetables to choose from & the gravy, well just Amazing. Deserts were lovely, we had the sticky toffee pudding with banana & passion fruit & Great British Menu rice pudding with Hay ice cream & blackberries. Great drinks offering with lots to choose from, just like the food menu, this has obviously been well thought out. We have supported Sam & Emma Morgan before @ previous restaurants & have always been very impressed with the quality of food & standard of service. We wish you all of the very best for your new venture & will see you very soon. Best Of Luck. Adrian & Jackie.

Sunday lunch at The Bracebridge was first class. Firstly, the location is stunning and once inside the restaurant, you are greeted with such a stylish and calming interior, with beautiful views of the lake and the woods behind. There were 6 in our party and we opted for the three course Sunday Roast. For lovers of cheese, I recommend the Welsh rabbit starter; it was really tangy and the accompanying chef’s homemade apple ketchup was delicious. The roast platter looked and tasted incredible. I had the beef which was cooked to perfection; pink, melt in the mouth tender and full of flavour. The selection of vegetables were excellent and we had a few extras side dishes, including the sausage stuffing with the chef’s homemade ketchup, cauliflower cheese and creamy mash. I’ve never tasted mash like it! The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were amazing too, as was the gravy. Although full from the main course, I’m so pleased I found room for desert! A friend had the Great British rice pudding, which I tried. It was an architectural delight and tasted amazing. I had the sherry and coconut trifle; not only did the trifle look so pretty, it tasted as good as it looked; incredibly light and the flavour of the saffron custard so delicate. I should add, the Saint-Emilion we had with our meal too was smooth! The staff were so attentive and I also had the honour of meeting the chef! A wonderful restaurant and when the warmer weather arrives, the outside area will be wonderful. A highly recommended restaurant.
