Booked for 7.30pm and was served drinks by unmotivated staff member. Went to order food to be told what we wanted had sold out, re picked and ordered and was told there would be a wait of up to half an hour even though the place seemed relatively empty.Food arrived I had house salad and salmon and my partner had halloumi and veg kebab, no complaints about the food at all but the plates looked dirty with water marks and cutlery was shabby. The waitress came to clear the table and at least smiled although never asked if the meal was ok. Went to pay at bar before we left and yet again another unmotivated member of staff took payment, no thank you or was everything ok?I work in customer service myself and would never treat guests like this! Wont be returning.

Booked for the Carvery at 6pm,only to be told when we got there that there was no Carvery.This was booked the day before as a treat for our Son for doing well in his exams.The lady did apologise but we were disappointed as we were really looking forward to it & had already enquired & booked for this.How can you book for a Carvery at 6pm,for it not to be on? The food we ordered was nice,apart from my husbands pie which was burnt!Think the Carvery & the serving of burnt food needs to be addressed.

We used to love the carvery here. We went today, the staff serving customers were talking about a lady as she left the carvery area The customer service was really poorThe food was not as good as it used to be, there were very few options of what to have with the carvery and when the lady I front asked for cauliflower it seemed to be an inconvenience for the chefs. It also felt like this when asking for your what you wanted on your carvery.It's sad that this place has declined

We've been here SO many times (pre-Covid) when we visit Aunty in Chorley and we've always adored this place..I usually have the carvery and was really looking forward to it but alas this has now changed and the carvery is only on Sundays now.So we ate from the main menu and everything was nice, nothing at all wrong with the food but for me it just wasn't very exciting.. I know that sounds picky, and I really don't mean it to be - maybe I was just disappointed at not being able to have my roast dinner!The staff were lovely, and everything was clean so there are definitely plus's.

We booked the Bowling Green for my dads 80th birthday celebration and from start to finish the service was first class. We had various dietary requirements all of which were catered for. All our meals arrived hot and fresh in a timely manner. Highly recommend a visit to this lovely venue. Thank you for making my dads birthday special.

We used to love going here due to the play room for the kids and although this is back open, the food quality has taken a dive.Yet again the childrens mash came out cold in the middle and hot on the outside. Quite clearly microwaved. I gave the same feedback last month when we visited and have the benefit of the doubt but clearly no one listened. Took 40 minutes for our mains to come out despite the place being empty and my fillet steak wrap was cold and definitely not fillet steak. More fat than meat. I gave feedback whilst there but definitely won't be returning which is a shame

Party of three adults and one child, we ordered three mixed grills requesting no tomatoes on any as I gave an allergy to them, we also ordered a children meal of beefburger for my granddaughter.The meals duly came out all with tomatoes on, I explained that I could not accept it due to my allergy and the server although a little shocked took back the meals explaining they would remake them. This is when the girl who took our order came with my granddaughters meal almost throwing it down on the table in front of her, making no effort to bring any cutlery for her to eat with and proceeded to berate us for not advising of allergies.She then spent 5 minutes ranting that we should have told her, my thinking us asking for no tomatoes on any of our meals would be enough for her to make an informed decision that this meant NO TOMATOES were required on our meals.I requested to speak to a manager, who came and appeased the situation some what but this did not make up for how insulted we felt over the way we were spoken to. Needless to say we will not be returning any time soon.We noticed several people complain to staff about the time they were waiting for food and this place was quiet to say the least, I would hate to think what sort of wait people have if it were busier.The food was passable each of us asked for our steak cooked differently, medium, medium well and well done. You could not tell any difference between them.Others opinion may differ from mine but I can only go off the visit me made at the time we were there.

Really enjoyed our meal on Saturday night. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were friendly and polite and the service was quick and efficient. Great space for children too. Warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Drink order taken straight away, 40 minutes later I had to ask someone to come and take our order, they weren’t that busy either, however the girl taking the orders said there was only 2 serving, which is a bit bizarre as it was a Friday lunch time and you would expect it to be busy .. we then waited another 30 minutes for our food to arrive, this was nothing special, mix grill was extremely fatty and the kids mash was disgusting my little boy wouldn’t eat it and when I tried it I now understand why it was like smash potato defiantly wasn’t fresh mashed potato but had a funny taste to it. We got a mixture of skinny fries and fat chips .. not sure of the purpose or reasoning of this.. felt like they had run out so mixed it up a bit on the plate, I didn’t ask for skinny fries I asked for chips.. I asked the waiter for a bit extra gravy, however I had eaten my steak pie by the time I had asked another member of staff to get me some .. service was to slow... not the servers fault but managerial fault to employ more staff, they were run ragged, the kids enjoyed their ice cream, it was lovely, however it took another 30 minutes to order a piece of chocolate fudge cake .. by this time we where extremely fed up of waiting around. Then the bill .. overcharged me by £12 .. good job I check my receipt .. bring back the old bowling green, where staff smiled, and the atmosphere and food were outstanding ..disappointed at the meals, they weren’t cheap either but poor quality, and the service was poor,

Dropped in for lunch today. Have to say the food was excellent and the staff most friendly. Quality meal in a lovely setting. Very enjoyable indeed.

I was expecting better !! The carvery was all gone which I get as we had a 7pm booking so I had the chicken skewer the chicken was either dry or undercooked how they managed that god only knows. I did expect a bit more is I am honest

Would definitely recommend. One of the best steaks I've had in years. Will be going back as soon as we can.

A lovely meal here at The Bowling Green. Hanging Kebab, a sunday roast and hunters chicken. All meals were absolutely fabulous and cannot complain. Although the staff were lovely and smiley, service was very very slow, even though they seem overstaffed and had onlya few tables in. A great talk from the gent who seated us on the new rules etc. We will be back next Sunday!

I’ve got to say this is a lovely place to have a meal for all the family. Always made very welcome and Nathan and the rest of the staff are really pleasant. Will definately be a weekly thing. Amazing food also

Last time I ever do in this pub again, until its taken over by someone who can provide decent food.My partner and I called in for some food, we were escorted to our table and told to scan their companies covid-19 scan the sticker on the table we spent a few minutes on 2 Mobil phones trying to scan the code but couldn't get it to work, we asked for a menu it arrived looked like it had been used lots of times, which made me not wanting to touch it, my partner had some sanitiser in her handbag so she cleaned the menu, we looked on the menu it just gave the standard Monday to Saturday meals we wanted to order from the carvery, so I had to get up and go to the bar ( which I didn't like ) for a carvery menu they said they don't have one and would come to the table and explain what was on offer, eventually a waitress arrived my partner ordered off the carvery menu, gammon with mashed potato with vegetables and gravy, I ordered gammon steak with eggs and baked beans, so we waited a little while later my partner's meal arrived small slice of gammon with over cooked vegetables and gloopy cold gravey covering the whole plate, my partner said this is not very nice, I said send it back but she is one of these people who would not complain, 15 minutes later after my partner had finishedPicking through her food my meal arrived after she had finished her food, so I sent it back saying its to late now, so I refused to pay for both meals, won't ever go back the food is worse than poor the covid-19 rules are being flaunted, my recommendation to others going there for a meal is to keep away and go elsewhere that is safe with good food

We used to come here a lot as the kids do enjoy the carvery and get to climb in the garden areaBut the staff didn't seem as helpful as usual, not edge to even say rude.And the food was dry. The meat seemed as if it had been there longer than it should and the veg wasn't fresh. We only picked carrots and potatoes as they looked freshest of the veg. Disappointing as the kids do enjoy it here

The manager or a guy who thought he was the manager , was rude.. He made me feel stupid for trying to the QR code on the menu to order food to table as it wasn’t active yet ... surely the app is more important to be up and running during covid ?? He was rude to my friend at the bar also. Tried ordering a kids meal deal, but the manager rudely replied they don’t do meal deals because they were doing ‘eat in the help out’ so basically they had upped their prices to claim more back from government !! Food was awful , my child couldn’t eat the burger , and my friend left her kebab as it was dry. I only ordered soup and it tasted like half of it was salt ! Will never return , not just because the food and service was poor, but because they have took advantage of the government trying to help them out, by over charging customers. Shameful !!

3rd time of visiting over 12 months, first time tried slow cooked beef, it was nothing but gristle, 2nd time tried cheese and onion pie, pastry was so thick it was like a doorstop. The third time, played it safe and ordered wraps, the cook even managed to burn these. How you can burn a wrap is beyond me. The alleged fillet steak was really tough...ive no idea where they purchase meat from, but its something they need to check and rectify quickly, or employ a new cook. . Front of house staff, surly and miserable. Definitely will not be going back...terrible food and bad customer service.

Staff are lovely, caring and helpful. My 94 yr old mum felt very safe eating here, post lockdown. Highly recommended

Me and my friend visited today and found the service to be very poor. We waited in line for over 20min as only one person was serving when there could of easily been 2/3 people. There was no apology for our wait and felt like no one was really bothered. As much as we respected social distancing I feel it was taken to far which is working at a disadvantage to the business. Most guests weren’t social distancing either and we didn’t see any staff enforce this during our visit. The food was a 30min wait and when received was mediocre at best, we wanted to complain but didn’t want to wait any longer as we’d already waited nearly an hour to begin with.

Visited The bowling green today, a good 10 years after my last visit. What I remember about the place was a good old fashioned English pub with good wholesome pub food, sadly it isn’t the same anymore. Let’s start off with the positives, it is a Joseph Holt pub so ale selection is good and the pint of ‘crystal’ was nice. Good beer garden with an area for children to play and the pub itself is in pleasant surroundings. Now for the negatives, which unfortunately there are many. The staff that dealt with us are short of some lessons in waitressing, never before have I been somewhere and had negative reactions from staff for asking for simple things like salt or sauces. I understand at the moment it’s hard with the pandemic and with it being busy mon-wed with half price deals but it’s inexcusable. I am in the hospitality trade myself and if any of my staff would have spoken to customers like I’ve witnessed today I’d be mortified. If you don’t like the job find a new one, don’t take it out on the customers. Now for the food, not to be rude but it was like a poor mans Wetherspoons, whilst it was well presented the burger, chicken burger and steak baguette was flavourless and the chips still hard and not properly cooked. If you can’t cook frozen chips I’d be seriously thinking about a career change. I could go on but I think I’ve said enough about the place already. If any of your staff would like any tips on how to deal with customers I would gladly come down and do some free training. Regards

We came today for lunch as we are staying at a local hotel. Could not find fault. Social distance measures were in place and made us feel really safe. There was a handy QR code to scan as we walked in for test and trace, lots of hand sanitizer around & floor markings. Staff were really helpful, friendly and couldn't do enough for us, especially Doreen & a lady with short dark hair but I didnt catch her name. Food was also great, the wexford chicken was cheap, cheerful & very tasty. I would come here again and recommend. Our 1st family post lockdown meal was a success & we felt very safe. Thank You!

This was our 1st visit since they reopened. Everything was socially distance and staff on hand to helpWe chose the carvery. 3 meats to choose from. The vegetables were reduced in number but still good choice The carver served the veg. which made the queue build up. As we were 1st we were fine. As there was a large group in it would have perhaps been customer friendly to have a veg. server to reduce the queue. It was from the deck to the door.The food was tasty and at 1/2 price excellent value.I would recommend a visit.

Came here as our first family post lockdown meal to celebrate a couple of things. The safety protocols and systems in place didn’t affect our experience and the food was amazing as always. We were sat in the family area and it was perfect for our two small ones to play outside. Felt safe and well looked after and the staff including Doreen, Shannon and the duty manager were all friendly and welcoming. Thank you. We will be back soon. Ang and Dave

Went today, Tuesday about 12.30. The containers in the carvery had hardly any food left in them. The turkey breast, was only fit to be used in curries, pies, stews. it was just crumbly,, and at first the girl refused to change it for a new joint but eventually she did and it seemed so nice. then the veg, some cold, odd bits hot. potatoes hard byt the new potatoes good and the mash nice. The yorkshire puds were so thin that they turned to raw looking mush when gravy went on them. My daughter got hers heated uo in the microwave but heard stories in the past about what happens in kitchens when this happens. pity we paid as i would have simply walked out.

Visited last evening. Decided to have a cavery which was distinctively average. Roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked in the deep fat fryer .Plenty of veg which was ok , although the sprouts were hard . The meat was good. For dessert I had the Eton mess , it was basically a glass of cream with a rhubarb coulis , some pistachios and half a shop bought meringue stuck on the top . It looked lovely. When you started to eat it you soon ascertain that the meringue that was stuck on the top appeared to be an afterthought as they had forgotten to put it in the actual dessert . Hence if was disappointing. Husband had sticky toffee pudding with custard which was good . Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Went for lunch today and we had 2 small carveries. A bit expensive at £ 5.85Competition charge £4.99 and tea expensive at £ 1.95 in my opinion. However food is nicely prepared and mostly hot. Meat portions are smaller than they used to be.Today a friendly waitress Doreen came to ask us if everything was ok. This hasn't happened for a long time!Doreen was near our table as we were.leaving and chatted to us.Doreen made us feel welcomed and valued. This hasn't happened for a long time Hopefully this is a good change for the better.I have given 5 stars due to the service received from Doreen

We visited the bowling green for lunch as a family as it has a play area for the kids. The gammon I ordered was over done and burnt in parts, although the rest of the food (chips and peas) were a good temperature. Other members of our group enjoyed their food. The play area could do with updating as it looks tired and hasn’t changed since our last visit over a year ago. There were a lot of tables that needed cleaning up when we arrived although it did seem very busy and like there weren’t many staff members working. Overall, the food was okay but we won’t be rushing back based on today’s visit.

Went today for dinner asked for a medium cooked steak it came out practically raw a good vet would of got it back Alive told the staff and they basically just said well I put it through as medium no apology for poor service definitely will not be going again or reccomend the place to anyone.

Really great place for a carvery, We the Ford mondeo owners northwest club have been visiting for the last 3 years when we fancy a carvery,The food has always been top quality ,Staff are really friendly and helpful with a great atmosphere ,To sum up excellent and good value for money.

After visiting a few weeks ago and really enjoying it, we decided to have a drive out for another visit. Unfortunately this didn’t live up to expectation. I got the beef and my partner got beef and gammon. Other than one small piece of beef, which was still tough, the rest was inedible. When the waiter came to take our plates, he asked if everything was ok (presumably because he saw the dish full of beef). We politely informed him that the beef was inedible to which the response was “I’ll tell the chef”, not even an apology. A simple “sorry” and we probably would have returned to try it again as the first visit was really enjoyable.

We went in today for lunch 12.15 place wasn’t very busy but unfortunately the food wasn’t the best being stone cold the only thing hot was the mash potato

Vegetarisch, Vegan, Fleisch etc. Für jedermann ist was auf der Speisekarte; auch spezielle Angebote (zB. 2x das selbe Essen um 13£) sind kostengünstig. Das Essen war auch sehr gut, aber wir bekamen halt nicht wirklich das, was auf der Speisekarte stand. Soll uns nicht weiter ärgern, das Essen war immens gut.

Waited ages for a meal despite only one more table in and it was freezing cold sent it back. Wanted to warm it. I refused got money back. AVOID UNLESS U WANT BE POORLY. An staff not very friendly.

my meal was amazing i when with my family and the meal all came to gather all warm and over all very good the level of serves was phenomenal all of the staff was very warm and gave us a warm welcome the atmosphere was very good over all a grate tea we will be returning again after the lever of service that was shown with this experience

Quick service, friendly staff, choice of 3meats or all 3 from the carvery with other meals available. Plenty of car park space with play area for children inside and outside area to keep the young ones occupied. Will definitely visit again.

Really great place for a carvery, moved to the area 2 years ago and always come here when we fancy a carvery. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu I have to say. The atmosphere is good and the staff are friendly and helpful

Bought the curry for 10 pounds.. it was NOT good. Such a waste of money! Popadoms were chewy, rice hard and curry did not taste good.

Went for early family Christmas dinner as son going travelling. What an excellent time we had, the staff were excellent and very friendly, service was top notch. They even gave us a bottle of Prosecco as we were enjoying ourselves. Well recommended

We were taking our 5 year old grandson to the illuminations. And wanted to break the trip up with a meal so my hubby looked for child friendly restaurants. This has both indoor and outdoor play areas. Although the indoor one is tiny and probably only for toddlers. My grandson walked straight past it without sparing it a glance.

The place is lovely, staff are great but the cavery was awful, bland the gravy was disgusting I'm sure that mash is powdered, or from frozen the vegetables just don't taste of anything, it is cheap £7.95 a cavery but even that seems a bit much for bland mush, the only meat that tasted of anything was the Gammon, it's a shame it used to be a great place for all the family, I personally would not be going back here to eat. I did indeed leave most of my food.

Sunday evening, mega busy (good to see).

We visited twice in the last three weeks with grandchildren both times and on Sunday both times. On both occasions the food from the menu was delivered promptly and the carvery queue moved very quickly. The food was surprisingly tasty and the veg was all much better than most carveries i.e. it still had some crunch. The children's meals are quite small, but fortunately the nine year old chose the standard carvery which he couldn't finish. Everyone was happy with their food and we'll definitely be back. It can get noisy with all the children, but this just shows how popular this place is with families.

family of four visiting on arrival was seated next to the childrens play area which was very noisy due to the fact there were lots of children running round and screaming. i do have children myself age 9 and 7 which i assume thats why we was seated there would of liked to have sat in a quieter area and of been asked. the food was average the chicken and ham pie had very little filling and the pastry was hard. had to wait 20 mins in the que for the carvry the meat was fine but the veg was tasteless and the stuffing was very dry

We pre-booked a large table for 8 a week in advance and we’re glad we had done so as the restaurant on arrival was very busy with all tables pre-reserved. We were welcomed quickly and friendly before being shown to our table which was ready with two high chairs.

Arrived around 6ish to treat the kids after their first day back at school. It was surprisingly empty. The bar’s soda tap wasn’t working so only bottle sodas were available. The menu looks like it’s been updated so maybe it’s the autumn one. The kids and myself order a Carvery which was good my only criticism, the vegetables just looked a little dry. I’m sure it’s hard to keep then hot and stocked up but they tasted ok when smothered with gravy.

Great food and good service. Lovely desserts and ice cream 🍨. Definitely visit again. All staff friendly and helpful 👍🏽

Early Sunday Carvery Lunch, 12.00pm the staff where excellent, welcoming reception, the food was excellent, all fresh no microwave ting, just like a home cooked Sunday Roast without the hassle of preparing yourself. Priced perfect, could not fault our experience, 5 out of 5.

Met my Aunty for the day with twin 22 month olds, 3 year old and an older daughter....hectic for me as you can imagine but this place is a real gem! The indoor play area is clean and a great space. The outside space is lovely and i must point out that I absolutely hate wasps and I was actually amazed that I couldn’t see any but I could see lots of those wasp trap things hanging in the tree so after reading previous reviews it looks like the management have tried there best to address that.

We visited place about 5 pm. It was not to busy and we wanted a meal before we continued our journey. Food served on counter was not freshly cooked. Mushed carrots were watery, meat dry and the portions served were small in comparison that we used to be served in the past.

Friendly staff, quick service of food off menu, and decent carvery food which you help yourself too. Clean, recently refurbished inside and out.

Came for a casual tea around 7pm on a Wednesday, busy but not too busy. Had the carvery. Choices were turkey, beef and gammon. Was amazing, so much choice and the food was fantastic. Great service and would definitely go again.

I bring my family here every week. The food is brilliant it's really good for the kids aswell while they wait for food i would highly recommend people to come here.

What has happened here? Ive been cmeing for the carvery for a few yrs. The past few times hasnt been great. The last visit was just awfull, in fact the veg on the carvery needed to be thrown away! Gammon so salty, beef like leather. I think who ever is managing this place needs to take stock of what is going on, have you seen the reviews on here? Shame because its a nice comfy restauran. Hope it gets sorted.

More needs to be done to keep the flies and wasps away - there are effective solutions out there.

Ordered Rump Steak medium rare. Got a burnt piece of leather full of grizzle. When asked if all was ok I told the waiter, who said he will tell the chef. 15 minutes later had not returned. The menu did says "Firm (tough as old boots) and textured (full of fat and grizzle) Left disgusted.

Terrible food. Tasteless and lukewarm.

Good food, fast service considering the place was pretty full and the prices were reasonable … we would recommend and we will return.

The food was mostly inedible. We both had a roast dinner, I had turkey, my husband had beef. I can't say the turkey was all bad, it wasn't tough but just tasteless, the beef was tough but at least the dogs ate it. The roast potatoes are something this place has NEVER got to grips with. I leave it a while and try again but the roasters are always dreadful. I couldn't cut them and couldn't chew them, they were anaemic to look at also completely without taste. I don't expect 5* food but I expect it to be more edible. I asked the waitress (who was suffering from headless chicken syndrome all on her own) over to complain and she immediately told the manager. We waited 20 mins for him to come over to hear our problem and got fed up and left. Nobody came over to ask if our meal was ok and our plates were full of food when we left, so we didn't eat it either, The meat was gone because we took it for the dogs, but it was the pure ignorance of the manager who just didn't bother to come over and hear our complaint that shocked me. I deserve a full refund just for that, but won't hold my breath.

Wasn’t impressed with the service! My food was thrown in front of me I wasn’t asked if I wanted any sauces or cutlery! I wasn’t expecting outstanding service but for the price of the food I expected more! Won’t be visiting again

I know the Bowling Green as I lived in Chorley over 30 years ago. It has gone through many owners, managers and re-furbs in those years with service and food varying each time.

Great food especially the roast dinner, staff are very friendly and welcoming nothing is too much trouble!All my family were happy to return this is our 5th time here! Recommend to anyone!

Called in on the speck , I had the fish and chips meal , with a drink , the fish was first class , white fresh fish ,batter was crispy and golden ,unlike some eateries not frozen ,chips were superb ,my husband had the carvery ,of which was also brill, sprouts were big. Soggy apart from that everything brill , will call again

In February a large group of us celebrated a 10th birthday at The Bowling Green. The service was fantastic, the food was spot on and the atmosphere was fab!

Visited here on the way home from a day out, waited at the bar with another gentleman waiting to be served for about 15mins, only when a large queue behind us formed they decided to start serving, so I order two meals and two drinks only to be told and I had to queue up in a separate queue for drinks which looked like a queue at Alton towers. “No thanks” so if you do want a meal and drinks your better going Monday morning about 9ish

We visit the bowling green quite regularly and don't usually write a review, but on this occasion I feel I should.

I met up with an ex-colleague for tea. We both had breaded scampi and chips, 2 x soft drinks and 2 hot drinks = £29.25. Chips were slightly undercooked. My main criticism was that I was cold. It wasn't a warm evening and I was sat next to a radiator, which wasn't switched on. Average and won't rush back, which is a shame as it's a good location and used to be fab, back in the day!

Had a lovely carvery today. So much choice. Will definitely go again. One of the best. Just kncocked a point off for the beef. It was a bit tough. Extremely friendly and helpful staff too.

After visiting here many times a few years ago and loving it we thought we would give it a try! The food was very standard pub grub at best and pretty expensive for the quality! No cake-away anymore either!!! Disappointed won’t be rushing back.

We like this place because of the indoor play area and outside play park, but the food is quite poor. Had a carvery....all the meat was tough and the veg were soggy and quite old. Such a shame because the place has great potential if you have kids

Went for tea to celebrate a friends birthday.

Myself and my wife came in to have a meal after our game of golf at Charnock and it was a very nice atmosphere, not too hot or cold, we got a seat at a table in a window with a very nice view outside, I went up to order and the girl on the bar was very nice and friendly, couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome, I think her name was Amber, lovely girl, lovely service, we both got a carvery which was very nice, gammon was slightly cold but nothing to worry about too much! I had an ale off tap which was absolutely lovely, Shame i didn’t get the name of it, can’t wait to come in again!

My wife and I called, around 6 pm it was very busy (which is a good sign), we just had a drink and a main meal, which was excellent and good value for money. Would recommend.

Very dissatisfied with this place now. Used to be really nice food but on my last two visits and having the carvery I have found the veg to be only lukewarm. When pointed this out was told if there is a problem you will have to take it up with the manager. Not a problem as we will not be going here again. Very poor quality.

Visited here today and didn’t even stay around to eat as it was dirty, overcrowded and understaffed. Tables everywhere piled high with dirty plates and cups, no cutlery anywhere and it was a free for all to sort your own, waitresses ignoring people asking for condiments and cutlery as they were rushed off their feet as there were hardly any staff. People arguing over cutlery and tables was the last straw for us. Massive queues to order your food as only one person at the till. The carver dishing out the meat at the carvery was cutting the meat extra thin as they probably realised there wasn’t enough to go around with what they had. Why on earth would anyone want to waste their time here. No customer service at all and it reminded me of a jumble sale or one of them Boxing Day sales with the stampedes... maybe even Black Friday? But there was definitely nothing good waiting for anyone here. It goes without saying I won’t go back here, ever. Awful.

Visited The Bowling Green early on a Tuesday evening and it was quiet so we had no waiting time for a table.

Lovely for a summers day, the kids section is great indoor and out and kids can run between both areas still in sight.

Omg there was 8 of us wish we had the carvery every 1 was disappointed with our food 😫unless you have carvery 🤔don’t bother.

very nice cozy atmosphere food was some of the best i have experienced at a carvery ever, a cut above stonehouse toby etc...

I do cme here quite a lot, l think its quite pleasent when its not too busy like it was on mothers day. Most of the staff are pleasent, apart frm a lady manager. The food, well they had cut wright down on the amount of meat they gave you, this does vary at times. Vedgetables dry tastless. Roast potatoes very tasty. I would say it is hit and miss here. Try it and see?

My wife and I enjoyed lunch in The Bowling Green today. We only went here because our first two choices locally were completely jammed full. Our last visit here was many years ago and was such a disappointment we swore never to return. But today found us so short on alternatives we reluctantly decided to try it once again.

From arriving and not being shown to our booked table to the substandard tasteless food, to asking for something from the waitress and having to ask more then twice, to using the child's area and the children's machines taking money and not working and told we can just "leave details" and we may get the money back next time.

Visited here before it was refurbed.
