Visited with my wife for Sunday lunch and we were expecting big things based on reviews and the cost of £23pp for one course (the 3 meat roast). Service was extremely fast and staff were very friendly however the food itself was average at best, the beef was very over cooked and tough (despite being advertised as medium-rare), the leg of chicken was under seasoned and lacked any sort of flavour, the pork was nice. Trimmings ok but potatoes slightly underdone. We were an early sitting (12 noon) so it might have been something to do with that but it’s put us off going back especially for the price.

We booked this last minute to break up our long journey and what a find. It's a beautiful hotel with a great atmosphere. Staff are so friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for us. It's dog friendly which is a huge bonus. We had a lovely evening meal and breakfast was perfect. We slept really well in a huge comfortable bed. I would like to think we would be in the area to stay again.

Very Nice venue, the food was good, unfortunately my only complaint is the rudeness of the waitress, when taking the food order i asked for a gluten free menu and she jokingly said ‘oh there’s always one’ !, i found this quite offensive and i had to restrain myself from complaining there and then to the management, i didn’t want to upset everyone on our table and cause an atmosphere so i let it slide, however i wasn’t happy with the waitress’s unprofessionalism.

This is a beautiful place to stay. My room (4) was immaculate. Gorgeous shower, comfortable bed, ( I could live in that bed) and fresh milk!!!!! I was greeted so warmly at reception and shown to my room. Honestly, they could not have been nicer. I had a lovely view from my window and even though the pub was busy it was very quiet. After an amazing rights sleep, I was running late so missed breakfast, but the lovely lady who was on duty was so incredibly kind and packed me 2 warm pastries ( yum yum) and a coffee to go. Massive thanks to everyone at the inn, I loved my stay and I genuinely hope to stay with you again.

We stayed here for a long weekend with our dog and had the most enjoyable and relaxing time. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive but I will mention Brad and Lottie who worked so hard and remained charming at all times even in the mini-heatwave. It is a busy pub and obviously popular with locals but service of food and drinks was quick even when the garden was full. The food was excellent with lots of choice for dinner and at breakfast - my partner hasn't stopped talking about his Shakshouka. Our room was pleasant and compact, but in no way cramped and we had everything we needed for a lovely break - highly recommended.

What a great place to eat! I had a look at some of the other reviews and I dont seem to recognise the place they went to, perhaps they got lost?? We went with family and the childrens menu was varied enough for all tastes. Prices have gone up as they have everywhere, perhaps a little looking aroiund would show you that good food served well does cost a bit more. We are pensioners so value is key, the Hadley Bowling Green really delivers!

Sadly feel that this place is 'pretentious' and playing to a particular clientele that has money... maybe without questioning if they are getting value for money? A Rump Steak (only steak on offer) was about £25 ... really nothing special, quite chewy. There was no check back for us to say the food wasn't good. Service was definitely less than expected for a place like this.... the Halloumi salad had exceptional flavours and variety but again, offered very poor value for money as only contained 3 very thin strips of Halloumi. For me, prices are too high for 'mediocre' food and minimal service. Far better places in/around Worcs.

We stayed here on our wedding night after getting married at the Holt Fleet. Matthew was really helpful and accommodating (since my wedding brain actually booked it twice!) He cancelled my duplicate booking and made arrangements for us to collect the key early. The breakfast was fabulous, freshly cooked with best ciabatta toast I've ever tasted! If you want a nice romantic evening with great food you can't go wrong here. Thank you so much ❤

We visited in the summer for a family Sunday luch. Sadly something must have changed since then as our return visit was really dissapointing. 10 of us sat down for a Sundaylunch, mostly roast beef which was overcooked and dry. The food itself was barely warm and for the price (nearly £20 a head) the overall experience was not good. Most of the party were polite enough not to say anything but I could see the dissapointment on thaier faces. The food was nowhere near the high standards of our previous visit so we won't be returning anytime soon when there are lots of other Sunday lunch venues at a lot less money.

Nice place, Sunday lunch was poor not enough for a person with a small appetite. Very little vegetables 3 tiny roast potatoes a spoonful of peas 2 tiny bits of carrot a teaspoon of mashed potato tiny bit of cauliflower and shredded cabbage we were waiting for them to bring out a dish of vegetables. I am not a big eater and normally give my husband some of my potatoes, I gave him 2 of my potatoes because I could see the meal was not enough for him but I could have eaten them myself. £13.95 for this £9.95 was what I would expect to pay for that and would expect a dish of vegetables. Would not recommend this to anyone, portions far too small.

This was the first night of a holiday and the B&B where I was staying recommended the Hadley Bowling Green. When I arrived the car park looked full so I was expecting all tables to be taken. However, when I arrived the friendly staff found me one of the last tables in the restaurant that had not been reserved. There was a great "a la carte" menu as well as a range of specials. I chose both main course and dessert from the specials which was Salmon fillet in pastry followed by a Lemon and blueberry mousse. I was very impressed with the food and its presentation. All the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Of particular note I want to bring special praise to Jack who served me extremely well and had time to chat to me. Well done to the whole team at Hadley Bowling Green.

Apart from the fact that the food has gone downhill (I was rudely replied to when I asked why they only had an 8oz rump on their menu (at £22 one should mention! - And having had it, it was poor)), the staff seem to have an attitude problem. The pub is totally unsuitable for those with a family or young children. You will have the management, staff and other punters 'groaning, moaning, tutting or similar if you should venture inside and make any noise, or not sit at the table obediently."We used to frequent here, but to be honest the final straw came when the manager made lewd comments about my wife (happy to have a face to face Chris, if you want)... and we felt our 2 year frequent visits/giving them benefit of the doubt had come to en end. Not sure what's going on here, but the bar, and the food, are over-priced and under average.Better places about. Avoid.

We really wanted to love The Hadley Bowling Green as we are local, 10 of us booked for a 40th birthday meal. We had pre ordered our meal as we were asked to. On arrival we were made very welcome and enjoyed a drink in the bar. We were then hurried to our table. Our starters were all good. Squid, patè, stuffed mushroom...However, mains were very disappointing. My chickpea & sweet potato curry had no flavour. The faggots were chewy, the goats cheese salad was a poor. ( rocket, goats cheese, pine kernels and balsamic vinegar) steaks were all enjoyed...but very expensive! We had to send a bowl of chips back..3 of the us in the party are in the trade, so possibly super critical but it wasn't a complex menu!

Restaurant not that busy for a Saturday night. The menu is very limited as it contains no steak or beef dish. No fish dish other than seafood tagliatelle or fish and chips and no lamb or pork dish. Very poor for a restaurant these days.Starters were ok , although the Camembert had no flavour at all and was in a pot so small it oozed all over the napkin and so was inedible. The waitress dropped the chutney on the floor. Fine we were given a new one but the dropped chutney remained on the floor all evening. 75 minutes after we sat down we received our mains. They were so hot that I burnt my tongue , so not sure if they had been microwaved or kept in an oven. The sausages had steam coming off them !!Sausage and mash was very salty as the mash contained far too much black pudding and the sauce was red hot. Chicken with tarragon mousse was dry and the whole dish was bland. We ate only half of each dish. The staff were apologetic and offered free dessert/coffee but by then we had been so disappointed that we didn't want anything else. The food here is simply not that good. So many tables had to go and ask at the bar to pay the bill and had empty plates in front of them for 10 minutes or more even though it was not that busy. So it's simple. Stay here as the rooms are fantastic but definitely eat elsewhere as there are far better restaurants nearby. Such a shame for a great venue.

Living locally we had always intended to visit "The Bowling Green Inn" as on outward appearance the restaurant has great kerb appeal. However after visiting for a "Mothers Day" family lunch we can say that the dining experience was very much an example of style over substance. Service was polite and reassuring although this didn't prevent one main course having to be sent back to the kitchen as a simple order request hadn't been followed. On reflection it seems that the "Gastro Pub" tag was being cleverly used as a cover for portion control, which in itself would have been acceptable had the ingredients warranted the praise. All in all a disappointing experience.

On a Friday evening, we were pleased we had booked in advance because it looked popular and busy. However, it was early evening and it did appear that some tables were available. Although it's part of a large chain of pub/restaurants, the decor as well as the building and its location in the countryside, does lend it some character. A pleasant crowd of people and background chatter also helped. We were quickly welcomed on arrival and were shown to our table immediately (our choice). Tables are reasonably well spaced apart and the seating is comfortable. Service matched the welcome and an extremely pleasant and friendly member of staff took our drinks and food order without any delay. A good choice of reasonably priced wine is on offer by the bottle, half-bottle and large and small glass. I had a superb glass of German white wine while we waited for our meal. There are several different menus (making it just a bit confusing). Some starters looked a bit different and imaginative. I ordered one of these which turned out OK but a bit disappointing. My main course was one of the chef's own pies featured in a local competition and diners were asked to comment and rate them. Again, the pie I had was OK but fell short of being memorable. The filling was tasty enough but was let down by the pastry. Top marks for the chips though which were definitely homemade, fresh and really very, very good. The desert was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, I would say it provided reasonable value for money but it could have been a lot, lot better.

Overall the Hadley Bowling Green exceeded all our expectations. Our room was large and well appointed (bed a little firm for my preference).Breakfasts and the evening meal were well cooked, well presented and reasonably priced. The staff were efficient, professional and friendly, willing to "go the extra mile" to give us the best service. We stayed for two nights and would like to go there again.

Two of us stopped for a quick business lunch in the week, ordering baguettes - one with beef and the other with chicken and bacon. Both were excellent, as was the service from entering the establishment. Well laid out tables, great ambiance and friendly welcome. Well worth travelling 5 minutes off the A449.

My wife organized a 30th birthday meal for me here, with around 30 family members. The food was great and the staff did a great job overall. There were a few niggles, but nothing that was out of the ordinary. Overall, it was great.

A rainy Monday lunchtime in January doesn't suggest that a pub would be at it's best, but from the moment we walked in to the Bowling Green we were made to feel welcome. There was a log fire and staff who greeted us as we arrived. It wasn't busy of course but there was a fair sprinkling of customers. The wine list was extensive and there were guest beers. The food, which came pretty promptly, seemed to be freshly cooked rather than boil in the bag. I had gammon with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce on a bed of bubble and squeak, while my husband had fish and chips. Excellent pub food. This place is a real gem.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Chris, Donna and the whole team for a wonderful evening and Christmas Dinner. 14 of us having a late Christmas Party, we've really enjoyed our meal and the ambiance. As soon as we've stepped in, we felt welcomed, with a friendly yet professional approach. All my friends appreciated their dishes, personally I can recommend the gnocchi and raspberry crème brulee, delicious! We will certainly go back in spring time for a Birthday Celebration!

I've visited this pub on several occasions, always on an evening & very often a Sunday. To be honest I've found the service quite slow & food just ok. However on a lunchtime it is a completely different place. The staff seemed less stressed as it was not very busy. The lunch time specials were excellent value. I had gammon ham, egg & the best chips ever, pudding too was very nice. The atmosphere is very pleasant & enables you to be able to take your time & have a good catch up with friends.

Really lovely food, catered for two coeliacs, one also being allergic to egg and sesame- this was no trouble to them. The staff were very friendly and so accommodating. A very festive ambiance at a very reasonable price compared to others nearby, thank you for a wonderful Christmas Day and thank you for being so accommodating.

A return visit for us. While the atmosphere and ambience of the HBG restaurant is excellent the food tonight was at best hit and miss which left our table of four decidedly disappointed to put it politely - and I am being generous as well as polite!Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, maybe not? There's far better food available in the locality and unfortunately on this showing HBG will have to wait before we return for another try. Shame because it should be SO much better!

Our company held their annual dinner and party . My meal was supposed to be gluten free and was not. The soup was indescribable, we could not make out what the taste was. Me thinks chef had not made enough and chucked gallons of water into it and chopped up feta cheese. My main course, again not gluten free, was a mess on a plate!Venison something, Had been chucked on the plate with a dollop of mash potato I could only eat a few chunks of meat and a little mash as there were even dumplings in it. . The only edible thing was the kale. Dessert was a slice of dried up Apple cake, almonds chucked at it and a little jug of custard. I did not want to embarrass the other people on our table including the Financial director who was paying by kicking up a huge fuss. It was supposed to be a party after all . Really disappointed.

Went for a Christmas meal in a group of approx 40. The food was excellent as was the service. It was a good choice of dishes which were all nicely presented. The only complaint I heard was that they were a bit miserly with the sprouts! As a venue it is very pleasant. Even in a large group we seemed to have plenty of room and the bar was nice and handy too. Drinks were not excessively priced.

Had a great value-for-money lunch at the Bowling Green. Home made faggots were excellent and a good plateful. Spotted dick to follow was also delicious. Saw a special evening advertised where 2 mains and a bottle of wine were to be £15 - bargain!

Whenever we visit we always get a warm welcome. It's never overly busy, probably due to it's location and this means service is prompt. Menu choice is vast and it caters extremely well for children and anyone requiring gluten free. Wadworths beer is always a bonus. Food quality is always excellent as is the value for money. B&B is also well worth it too and you get a great breakfast to boot.

The premises originate from the Elizabethan period but have been improved in a very tasteful manner. No loud music, just a wonderful atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff and very good choice of quality food on offer. Very good choice of beers etc. The interior is quite big, with various dining areas, all on one level. It is set in the Worcestershire countryside and has an old bowling green next to the car park. Well worth a visit!

A fast disappearing type of traditional pub. No jukebox just friendly service, well kept beer and food cooked to order, not microwaved. Located in beautiful rural Bromsgrove. This is the type of place you went to with your mum and Dad on a Sunday before Sunday Lunch.

Shh, don't tell everyone, but we've been going for a few years now and never had a bad meal. Friendly staff, and they're even pet friendly. Still the best meal out locally... In for another family birthday 👍🎂
