Great food comes out at a decent time, always shows any major football matches. Friendly staff with good drinks. Would definitely make my regular drinking hole

Use to go through to wether spoons after work twice a week for food and drink . Not anymore the food service drink value for money and cleanliness the staff at the bowery so welcoming and friendly. This is now the place we go.

Great pub with good classic pub grub good sized portions, reasonably priced and a generous loyalty scheme for free meals. The service is excellent the staff are welcoming and very accommodating. The Bowery is fast becoming a favourite lunch spot

Great service, great new food menu with various dishes for all dietary requirements, best beers and ales, good for family time and great location central to princes avenue with various bars and eateries also and great staff always with a smile

Stopped here for some lunch one afternoon, service was great and the onion rings were the best I’ve ever had. Food and staff was spot on, shall definitely be calling in for lunch again

As usual, a lovely place to chat and relax and enjoy the sport on the television. The food is really tasty and at these prices you can visit quite a few times a week and it won't break the bank!! It's a great place to visit and meet friends plus for those who enjoy the Hand pulled beers , there's always one on tap ready for you to drink ! Yeah!

Came here on Thursday with the family for a birthday birthday and it was by far one of the best Rump steaks I’ve ever had, highly recommended. Both servers we had were absolutely amazing and were a pleasure.

Popped in with my children for a bite to eat and some drinks. Mel and the team were fantastic, really friendly and welcoming. Food was fab and will definitely be going there again soon

The pub is nice and relatively tidy but i think its time for me to leave Princes Ave after using the place as my go to night out venue.. Multiple times i've popped into BOWERY to have a seat outside with a nice relaxing drink on a hot afternoon to be greeted with loud mouthed tattoo wearing gaunt men smoking pot. Quite intimidating to be honest. And the smell is awful. No wonder Princes Avenue is slowly losing its appeal.

Visit if you want a lovely £100 parking fine. Only received letters too late after moving address. Visited the pub for a total of 36 minutes to receive an ungodly fine

Mel and the Team are professional, welcoming and courteous. Fab pub lunch, great selection of beers and Sky Sports available.

Mothers day meal out, the staff where brilliant and accommodating, but the food and drinks let the place down. Lipstick on the glasses, over cooked onion rings, the nachos where absolutely revolting, don't know what they think guacamole is but the green water they served wasn't it. Also very confusing vegan/vegetarian menu. Dog friendly though which was why we came.

Wow! This was the worst food I've ever experienced in Hull,I don't know how you get away with serving this filth! The chips were passable as for the burger ..no! The onion rings looked and tasted like they were from 2019! The relish,mayo and coleslaw seemed like they were recycled from a experiment on how not to make an accompaniment for someone with without taste buds....I'm literally shocked!Never,ever again!

The actual visit was in 27 February 2019 at approximately 10pm. I know this, because just over 11 months later (on Saturday 1 Feb 2020) I received a letter from one of the agents of Parking Eye saying that I had an 'unpaid debt' for parking at this location.

Visited for a meal with friends, we had the festive menu. Food was average, typically what you would expect from a pub. We were seated in a corner of an area with people sat drinking and watching the football which was a little awkward. Parked in the car park where you can get a refund when purchasing food or drink in the Bowery which was good. However there are no lights in the car park so when returning to the car in the dark, you do not feel safe and is quite dangerous. Maybe something to consider, I would rather park on the street where there are street lights and people around.

I paid and displayed, went over my parking time, food does take more than five mins to arrive and I got a parking fine! I thought the car park was there for customers? Is the car park now a deterrent? No wonder trade is getting bad!

Good bar located on princess avenue. The bar had a DJ playing on Satuday night when I was in there, he was playing lots of old school house anthems which had a number of people uo on the dance floor. Seems to have a good atmosphere and a real mix of age groups who drink in this bar. Staff where friendly including door staff.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and made arrangements for a friend to pick me up. She waited approximately 12 minutes in the car park (supposedly for patrons) and received a fine in the post for £100 a few days later. I’ve never known such an aggressive car parking policy in any pub I’ve ever visited before. Yes, there are a couple of signs around but the entrance and expansive layout of the car park do not help, there was barely anyone in it. My friend didn’t even leave the car - surely there should be a period of grace? Please take this as a warning and the pub are happy to go along with this unfettered and unpleasant capitalist money making scheme. Dreadful.

Always a great time at Bowery. The service is exceptional. The prices are the best you’ll get on Princes Ave. The staff would do anything for you, especially the manageress Mel. I’d highly recommend!

Any big sports game this place is by far the best venue to watch it in Hull, it has loads of screens and loads of streams. The atmosphere is always booming and the beer is miles cheaper than the rest of prinny ave, would also recommend for a sunny day as the beer garden is good or on a friday or saturday night with the live music.

A night in Bowery - called in with my husband (saturday night) had a few grazers to eat, very nice followed by a few drinks, great atmosphere, staff friendly and welcoming, and before we new it disco started it and the pub was buzzing, we had a brilliant night definitely recommend it, we will be back!!!!

Came into the Bowery to watch the football and have a family meal before the game on a busy Saturday night.

Just the 2 of us going out to enjoy a few drinks, unfortunatly no real beers on sale only ciders, lagers and bottles beers so ordered a Guinness which was flat and tasteless. Didn't really know where to sit as tartan chairs were worn, torn and filthy and bench sofas were also stained and dirty, so stood at the bar. Needless to say 1 drink and we we're on our way and won't be back in a hurry.

went in for a few pints but wish i hadn’t.nothing wrong with the beer or food but the background noise from the tv’s and jukebox is too much.you can’t talk to your friends without hearing sky sports in your ear.even when there is no sport on the tv is still broadcasting crap game shows and other crap.mute the tv and i might go in again.sort it out

Went to my local pub tonight for food, which is something I rarely do as it’s a great place to drink but was very surprised by the quality of what we had to eat,I went with my mother in law who loves a bargain so we opted for burgers ,she had beef and I had chicken ,and as it was Thursday you get an XL for the price of a normal one,two burgers with bacon and cheese and my chicken was 4 large prices of chicken strips in a spicy sauce all served with chips ,the staff as usual are a credit to the landlady mel ,absolutely a bargain cooked by the lovely chef Annie and will be going again very soon for food and not just the beer

Called in with family on 11 August - drinks served quickly and quite reasonable. We had two rounds - the first gin and lemonade was served in a long glass and daughter was charged extra for asking for a little more lemonade. Anyway, we had a nice start to the evening and we’d go back.

Really cannot recommend this place I'm sat here now finishing the drink I bought on arrival I asked the barman if they had an alternative to a sesame seeded bun for the burger he said he'd check then the cook screached from the kitchen well what do they want, I wanted a bun without sesame seeds as allergic it's clear they said they didn't have any as the cook wanted to clean up and go home never come here they don't cater for allergies or preference poor show.

Business meeting on a sat afternoon. Pub was ok, service not bad and friendly enough. Coffee was really poor! Business meeting in good surroundings though.

Pretty cool pub situated in the heart of Princes Avenue. Good meeting place for friends and there is decent selection of lagers and ciders. Food is very much "pub grub" but there's a decent selection of burgers, wraps, Pizza etc

The 2 mains for £8 is cracking value the staff are friendly and the food for lunch is spot on. plus beer and wine for £1.50 ontop is great. Will definitely be doing this on a sunny day again.

I drove into the car park to pick my wife and her friends up after a night out, I was just a few minutes, the time it takes to ring and for them to down their drinks, and they gave me a parking fine. We used to go in every Sunday afternoon for drinks and food but they won't ever get another penny from us.

Popped in for a drink and the midweek food offer 2 courses for £6.50 caught our eye, the food was lovely and well presented , nice deco and was nice sat in one of the little booths with our own tv. Great value .

This was a return visit for Sunday lunch, disappointed to be given the choice of Beef or Beef! Other than that the meal was decent enough. The volume of the music was rather loud during our visit but we were able to move to another table away from the colossal speaker.

Use The Bowery as a place for a quick bite to eat and meet up with friends for a few drinks.. I also go in The Bowery on a weekend night, it's always busy with great music and atmosphere.. Staff work hard and are always polite at all times! Sunday lunch is a massive hit fresh and big portions could not fault it!

Not normally a fan of princes avenue but met up with some friends in The Bowery for food and drinks, I am a very picker eater and staff at food places generally give me funny looks when ordering, but not here, the staff where attentive to mine and friends every need, food was really good we had the buy one get one free steak, really good value for money, even stayed for more drinks than we planned as even though it is on princes avenue the prices aren't ridiculously expensive

Friendly staff, brilliant atmosphere and lovely food been here a few times for lunch and the music on a weekend is a good mixture and would definitely come back again

Had a family birthday meal at the Bowery. The food and service was great. Had a wonderful afternoon. Will definatly return for the next family gathering!

Saturday 30th April me mum and her friend went for a girls afternoon out for lunch & drinks, thought we would try the Bowery as it had been revamped ! We ordered food & then a Bottle of wine, when we got back to our table and took the wine out of our ice bucket to our surprise the wine had been opened & a glass of wine missing from the bottle we thought oh it will if just been done in error. I went to discuss the matter with a young man that was serving to my surprise he was very aggressive towards me & basically said I didn't give you that ! You have drank it!! Omg !! Shock wasn't the word. He was accusing me of been a liar. My mum came over as she could see I was getting upset about this. We told him to check our glasses which where bone dry so he said we've drank it out the bottle. We asked to speak to the manager who was a middle aged woman & she was no better awful to us just calling us all lairs. Never in my life have I experienced such horrendous customer service. We are 3 grown women in our 40s & 60s why an earth would we drink out of a bottle just to get more wine. It's laughable. I work as a manager myself in retail and i have told everybody about this. And they won't be visiting Bowery. Am also taking this matter further. All I can say is them people should not be working with the general public at all. People in the pub at the time could not believe how we was spoken too. Appalling !

went for a meal on Saturday. I ordered a bottle of wine the bar staff placed it in a ice bucket when I returned to the table the bottle had been opened and the bottle was not full My daughter returned this to the bar the bar staff who served it said we had drank it and said we was lying. He was very aggressive I spoke to the landlady she also said we were lying. We had clean glasses and no time to drink any. I was discussed with the service and the rudeness of the landlady and staff never again.

Popped into this pub as I was driving past and wanted food. The menu is great value for money and the service was great! Well worth a visit when in Hull!

We visited on a very busy rugby derby day to watch the game. Both the staff and food were very good. We ordered our meals and within 10 minutes we had been served. Very good home-cooked low cost pub grub. Large portions and very good atmosphere. Modern and refreshing!

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. Not from around hull as visiting from Ipswich, didn't know what to expect. Nice food, good atmosphere and really pleasant staff , oh and really cool urinals!

We had a groupon for here and decided to use it today and so glad we did. The Sunday roast was lovely. 3 slices of beef, a huge home made Yorkie pudding,stuffing, nicest roast pots ever and parsnips then in a dish we had veg... then been greedy we had a pudding each my brownie was so nice. I will defo be eating here again. The lady who was our waitress was really nice unfortunately I didn't get her name

Got a sunday dinner vocher from groupon turned up free parking behind . Lovely layout inside and table reserved with our name on the service was lovely very helpful and friendly always there if we needed something and went out the way to help. The food was very well cook and plenty to eat between every one also lovely gravy and more if needed. The sweet was equaly lovely and well presented would recommend for parners family or buissiness

I'd eaten here before and been unimpressed. The menu seems to have changed and it was great value. Our burgers were really good and a decent size. I can also say that chocolate crownies are the future.

We had the beef and pork Sunday lunch served with huge Yorkshire pudding,the most amazing roast potatoes and parsnips served with fresh _not frozen vegetables and a thick beef gravy.

I went to the Bowery Pub on 29th January for a soft drink with my friend after a meal at another bar, please feel free to check CCTV footage within the pub on this date and this will support this. The car park was pitch black and I saw no signs to pay, as I was a patron of the pub it didn't even cross my mind that I would have to pay! I was in there for literally 26 minutes and then left and I have now been fined £60 for the priviledge! The fine has been paid as it is a company car so the leasing company pay automatically, with the pleasure of adding a £15 admin fee! I won't let this lie, I am furious! Why should I pay to park in a car park when I am using the facilities, what a joke!

Myself and my partner recently purchased a groupon deal for a Sunday roast each and a bottle of wine for £16.50 we visited the Bowery on Valentine's Day and we were very impressed we have purchased another groupon! The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. The portions were very impressive and was really tasty the bottle of wine you got wasn't a cheap bottle either I have recommended the deal to quite a few people!

I don't recognise the place from all the one-star review. Three of us had lunch here. The welcome was great, even pointing out that we would need a larger table to accommodate our plates.The food was good with a great apple and potato mash accompanying a generous and tasty plate of belly pork. Waitress was a bit dizzy forgetting the black pudding and gravy, but that was dealt with quickly and pleasantly.I had a pie, like mum used to make, not supermarket mush. Thoroughly enjoyed it.We certainly plan to return

My partner and I fancied Sunday dinner and as she is currently using a wheelchair we chose The Bowery as it's on one floor and has a sloped entrance.The barstaff told us we couldn't order Sunday dinner as too many groups were booked in. There was only one group eating but a number of reserved tables. However when we left there was still only the same group eating.The food came on weird tiny wooden platters that were very small so when I cut into my fish bits of it flaked off onto the table. The food was ok. But was all kind of bland and samey tasting.

Our first time visit to The Bowery and we had a Groupon voucher. First impression was good - many people already inside on a Sunday afternoon and there were live sports on TV. Friendly service from both ladies (one who took our order because we were on Groupon voucher and the other who took our drink order behind the bar.) Yes, there were hot drinks available.Food came promptly and were piping hot. Vegetables and gravy sauce were served separately. Food tasted just like a standard Sunday roast.We will return again and try other dishes from your menu as well as for the ambiance.

I've been twice now for Sunday lunch and had a great experience on both occasions.My OH and I both opted for beef instead of turkey and we were not disappointed. It was served pink which was perfect for us.The beef came with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, a big Yorkshire pudding and mixed veg (the red cabbage stood out from the rest - delicious!)We took advantage of the Groupon on both occasions so lunch for two plus a bottle of house wine was £16.50 - bargain! I believe the usual price is £6.95 for lunch so still good value and we'll definitely return after the Groupon offer has finished.

Been a few times.. Drinks are good, service not so good! ...lack of consistency! Do you serve hot drinks or not?! Been a few times some times the machine is on other times not... As a designated driver varied SOFT drinks should be available ..ingredients not available for mocktails, hot drinks not available!

Pub is ok, but Marstons have entered into a dodgy parking agreement enabling a disreputable parking firm to fine you large amounts of money for parking in the pub car park and having a beer. The large signs on entrance to the car park do not suggest that clients of the pub will get fined although they state the car park is the pubs and clients of other premises will. On entry to the pub there is a sign above head height that does tell you about the catch but we didn't even notice it.Result is that we went for 2 beers and a fizzy water and paid but were also fined £100 for the privilege! I complained to Marstons the owners and told them to check the till receipts as proof of my honesty. They were not interested and said the fine stood. My friend ended up paying as she was scared by the threat of court action.What a shame as Marstons produce some nice beers that I shall never drink again.

Visited for a late lunch and won't be going back. Was served the wrong meal, a 'light bite' version of the meal I wanted, and when I questioned it I was told what I had was the correct size. It obviously wasn't.The waitress had even said it was the small size version when she brought it over.So I paid almost twice the price for a small meal, and to make things worse the meal didn't even come with all the sides that were advertised and it didn't even taste any good.I'd advise to avoid eating here.

Me and my partner went on Thursday . I ordered steak and ale pie , she ordered rump steak our food came mine was ok nothing great but I was happy but my partners steak was just a big lump of FAT. And hardly cooked ,although she did ask for medium to rare . It just looked horrible I finished mine but partner left most of her steak ,staff member came and asked how it was I said mine was ok which it was, but my partner said hers was horrible and I was surprised by this as she never complains lol , all the staff member did was laugh and say yes it was fatty . We waited a bit but nobody from the kitchen came so we just left ....rubbish

Visit here quite often with family and friends. The food is always great. The lunch club deal is amazing value for money. Only downside for me is they don't have a nappy bin in the disabled toilets/baby change.

I wanted to use my Groupon voucher for tomorrow evening. When I rang to book though, was told that there'd been a mistake and I couldn't use it. We were going to buy other drinks apart from what was on the deal, and as we won't be going in there again, it's their loss. There are plenty of nicer places to eat, for the same prices or cheaper, and with fierce competition down Princes Avenue, they're not really helping themselves. Got to try and get our money back from Groupon too now.

im another customer caught out with the Groupon voucher purchased. Staff explained on me ringing and wanting to book that they have not been paid by Groupon for January and February's deal. Personally I don't think they should be turning customers away haven purchased a voucher they needed to take this further with Groupon and not take it out on valuable customers.

Was going to book a table for a meal with a Groupon voucher, was really looking forward to going and checking out the new deco but when I rang to book was told all Groupon vouchers had been cancelled. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, for a start they should still let anyone who's purchased a voucher still use them as they are still getting them customers in and possibly returning and spending in the pub.Well we won't ever be eating or drinking in this pub as I think that's such bad customer service.They have a lot of competition down Princess Ave and that's not going to help them get returning customers.

Overall a good place to go on Prinny. The staff are always very helpful and friendly, never a long wait at the bar. The only thing I would say was to get rid of the gambling machines, they look a bit dated & tacky in an otherwise modern looking pub.

Pretty average really. No complaints, but not rushing back either. the Sunday lunch was very average and quite boring to look at. The vegetables were overloaded with roast parsnips. Very few peas and a small amount of cauliflower. Fairly meagre portions of meat. Not as hot as I would have liked it either. Then again I do like my food to be very hot, not like warm. Service was slow, and we had to go and ask at the bar to be served. No one was aware we were still waiting to order after being sat at the table for almost an hour.

Visited on a Sunday with my partner & our friends for Sunday lunch(Groupon used)The refurbishment looks really good. We all ordered the same meat beef. I don't eat meat so my part partner has mine & I have more of the vegetables . When the waitress brought the plates with the yorkshire puddings & meat on & said She would be back with the vegetables & gravy. All four of us could not believe that the vegetable portions where for two. The food was ok but not great. I would not go back again for food.

Just returned from the Bowery pub for steak meal Sautéed mushrooms extra item £2-20 per portion Disgraceful - you was lucky if you got 3 button mushrooms cut in half You can pop across to sainsburys for 250g at a price £1 When mention to staff waited that long for a answer we decided to leaveWon't Be returning Moral of story don't order sautéed mushrooms rip off

Recently refurbed from what was previously a bit of a dive, my friend & I thought we'd give it a try as a spontaneous meal out. We were really impressed with the refurb with touch screen tellys in the individual booths. we ordered from a good choice of food and it came out within about 10 mins by a friendly waitress who was very helpful. Good choice of veggie options (I had a tomato pesto tart) better than the usual 'veggie lasagne' places thoughtlessly stick on the menu! My friend had a ranch burger and was impressed by the look of it - (fresh and handmade) but said it lacked taste. Will visit again if we're stuck for somewhere to go at short notice!

Myself & some friends recently attempted to book for a Sunday lunch.We tried to book using a Groupon offer that we had purchased,as per the booking instructions.We were informed that there was no availability for the requested day,and that they were not taking anymore bookings for Sunday lunches and that we should contact Groupon for a refund. If for whatever reason they would not honour this purchase is beyond me,probably over subscribed ....so why offer the discounts?....I for one will not be visiting The Bowery

This establishment is situated in one of the more popular night spots in Hull, Princes Avenue, it’s welcoming and comfy with sober decoration. This meal was through a voucher scheme and we took the option of a bottle of wine along with the meal. We arrived a little early but it was a quiet time on a Sunday and we were shown to our table which was reserved with our name displayed. The meal was a roast with potato’s and vegetables but in fact we had 2 types of meat, beef and pork along with potato’s and veg. We were not waiting long and when the meal arrived it was as tasty as it looked, the veg coming a separate dish. The service was as good as the meal the bar staff and our waitress were pleasant and efficient throughout and after the meal we stayed a little while to enjoy a little bit of extra wine to go with the bottle during the mealAs I say the place was comfy but also with the weather being inclement the place was not full but there was a steady flow of people coming in. There was background music of the type I actually knew not booming out but loud enough to enjoy, our seats were comfortable and the whole experience was relaxed. There are tables outside but not in January with a cold wind blowing thank you, and there was a menu for none voucher customers. It’s a place I would be willing to visit again and maybe just for an evening out with no meal involved. But there again that would be missing out on some tasty food and pleasant service, yes we will got again but for a meal, good? Yes real good.
