The only downside of our visit was that although we booked last Thursday and had evidence on our phone , when we arrived they didn’t have us booked in . Not a problem on a Wednesday evening but could be an issue on a busy Saturday. Every thing else was great. Lovely setting, relaxing atmosphere great decor. Staff were friendly and the service was good. We had mushrooms , pate, cod , chicken , cheesecake and affogato, all tasty well cooked and nicely presented. Really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.

What a beautiful place this is. The building is absolutely stunning. It looks brand new. I'm not sure how long it's been up and running but they are doing everything right. The menu is really good. There are quite a lot of things that you can choose from. I had the pie of the day. It was delicious. All the food on the table was gorgeous. Wine was really reasonably priced. The girls who looked after us were very friendly, happy and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back. Thanks guy.

Meeting up with friends who had moved to Hadnall my wife and myself relied on their recommendation for lunch at the nearby Croft Restaurant, an integral part of the Beaconsfield Holiday Park complex. With no prior knowledge of the venue I was much taken by the spaciousness of the modern restaurant and bar. The large windows allowed for lovely views over the green surrounds. Once comfortably settled our party of four ordered their respective drinks before the serious business of making individual choices from the menu and specials board. With the exception of myself they all decided on a starter of pea and ham soup whilst I, after a little thought, chose marinated sardines. Everybody went for a different main course and I continued with the fish theme. That dish being a moist flaky cod encased in a golden crunchy batter, accompanied by hand cut chips and a delicious tartare sauce. Beverages consisted of a mixture of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks which included an excellent Chilian Chardonnay for yours truly. Only one diner found room for a dessert from the appealing selection on offer. A substitute double espresso that would have put well known nationwide chains to shame completed my own meal. To sum up - a very enjoyable introduction to a really nice eatery, a clean and comfortable environment, competent cooking, good service, and all in a welcoming and unhurried atmosphere.

We’d been to the previous restaurant (The Bothy) a few times but it had restricted opening times. We were unaware that changes had been made so when friends had been to the new place they arranged our lunchtime rendezvous. As we were 6 people a deposit was required. The Croft is a beautiful building overlooking open countryside. There are comfortable seating areas in front of a well stocked bar where you can enjoy a drink while you study the menu. As well as the regular menu there are daily specials. Prices are very reasonable. We ordered a range of meals and everyone enjoyed their food. Service was efficient and friendly. This certainly won’t be our last visit as we’ve found a new favourite restaurant.

Beautiful views as i was entering The Croft Restaurant I would give 5 stars just for the views. About 3 weeks ago when we entered the croft we was greeted by a young lady who seemed kind at first appearance but once we sat down without asking us what we needed she then started talking what looked like the chef at the bar (unhygienic). She came back to us about 20 mins later asking if we're ready to order food without even asking if we wanted drinks. We then ordered our food as the lady gave our order to the chef who was still at the bar as they both entered through another door. I was delighted when our starters arrived. Looked and taste delicious we was please. Then our mains arrived and most of our mains had to be returned. Cold, burnt and my dad's tikka had no sauce. While we was letting the waiter know the chef came back to the bar as the lady returned our food and our food came back how it should of been in the first place perfect. All this time the chef was still at the bar so I'm unsure who maked our food but thank you. We didn't have desserts as we was all full so I couldn't comment. We was delighted with the outside but 50/50 with the inside. Would we return? Probably just not with that chef cooking.

We'd heard good things about The Croft. Walk in and there's large, interesting pictures on the wall, that grab your attention when we should be reading (lower down) to wait to be shown to a table. In an almost empty restaurant. We chose a table next to a window, with an outside view to one side and the staff in the bar on the other side. Looking at us. Five minutes later they still cast the occasional glance our way. I take a couple of menus back to the table and, as we choose, we still warrant only the occasional glance. At the bar: "is there something I need to know - about getting served?" I need to know that we wait to be shown to a table. (Well, we're here now . . .) Usual drinks, nothing special. We both ordered the fish and chips. The chips seemed to be heated up - could be wrong. Not too thrilled with the home-made tartare sauce, to be honest. At least the apple crumble and (lots of) custard were top-notch. The meal was not cheap, not expensive, nothing special (but it was only f&c :o) Our summary: the ambience (mid-afternoon) was laid-back and pleasant; the two young women (girls?) were friendly and capable enough but those first impressions took some shaking off. Would we go back again? With so many alternatives in the area? Unlikely.

Lunch for 3 responsible ladies in their seventies. Lovely meal and service was great. However, after eating, we asked if we could move to sit in the lounge area to round our meal off with our coffee to be told of course, no problem. We went over to sit in the window only to be reprimanded, in no uncertain terms, by one member of staff for turning one of the chairs so that we could all be included to enjoy our coffee and conversation. We were told we had moved the furniture and ignored the signage on the tables, which incidentally we had not noticed, asking customers not to do so!! We apologised explaining we had not noticed the sign and had only turned one chair round 45 degrees to be able to include our friend, only to be told “Well, this furniture has been damaged in the past by people moving the chairs! We tried to explain we had literally just turned the direction in which the chair was facing not physically moving it any distance, we were told “ Well, the chairs are not up to being moved and the legs had fallen off some of the chairs when people had tried to move them! We questioned that if that was the case then why the chairs were being used in the first place if they were likely to be damaged and could cause somebody an injury. We pointed out that if they were perhaps not fit for purpose perhaps they should be replaced, to be told that it was not only that but the carpets in the lounge area had cost over £800 and were constantly being damaged by customers moving the furniture! To say the least we were flabbergasted! Bearing in mind we were 3 ladies, all in our seventies and certainly could not have dragged furniture around willy nilly. A lovely meal, warm welcome, good and attentive table service spoilt by being made to feel we were vandalising the furniture and be possibly culpable of damaging a costly carpet !

A family member booked for 15 of us to celebrate an 80th birthday at The Croft. I had heard good things about it so was looking forward to it. BUT…although the food was ok, there are a few things which we were unhappy about. Firstly, they would not split the bill and allow us to pay in groups. Bearing in mind we paid for our drinks at the bar, it would not have been difficult as we all had the 2/3 course festive menu. This meant one person had to pay the entire bill and we had to send over money afterwards. When asked about this the owner said it was because they were charged for card payments - every other restaurant I have ever been to can do this so it’s just a nonsense. Secondly there was no children’s menu and although Children were charged half the set menu price, and as it was only 2 or 3 courses, you have to order a starter and a main (which is too much for children under the age of 10) or pay a dessert price for 1 scoop of ice cream which is a rip off. Thirdly the veg choice was very limited - soggy red cabbage, sprouts & carrots. They could definitely do with adding green beans/broccoli/peas and serving adults either more than 2 small roast potatoes. Lastly and most importantly, they charge £2.50 per head to serve, cut and allow you to eat a bday cake whilst there!! When I asked about this, I was curtly told that to allow people to bring their own cake would be like allowing people to bring a picnic! I think the fact 15 people have all had at least 2 courses and drinks should be enough to justify eating a bit of cake. She said “oh lots of places are doing that these days” but I have never experienced that anywhere else - ever! To sum up, the waitress service was good, atmosphere was nice (although they failed to seat our party on one table) but the food was average and the management attitude was poor. We won’t be returning.

Six of us went for dinner recently and apart from the poached pear we voted it a success. When asked to suggest somewhere five of us could go for lunch on a wet Wednesday I suggested the Croft. The experience could not have been more different and difficult to replicate how bad it was. One of our party had to go and find menus, I had to find someone to take our food order, the crayfish and lemon butter sauce for the sea bass was with the pork, the honey glaze apple for the pork was on the sea bass, the red wine sauce for my duck failed to materialize and tomato and chilli - where was the chilli? - soup was going cold and the croutons had sunk into it and were disintegrating. Six of us are booked for the Christmas menu - here's hoping!

We took a trip back to Croft after many of months keeping away due to the experience of bad tasting food. We started off by walking into the restaurant thinking we would have had a nice greeting but instead we had Lucinda the ‘owner’ hiding behind the till on her phone making it clear she doesn’t like greeting people/facing her own customers. Whilst other members of staff were running round like headless chickens near enough running her business for her. We were finally seated after she made out that she didn’t see us and we were asked if we would like a drink to start. The only good thing to say was that there was a good range of drinks, as we got to the menu nothing took our fancy. We just had the basic, fish and chips. Which we could have had from a chip shop closer to home. The food was okay, a little crispy and also greasy, but nothing that put us off. The staff checked up on us making sure everything was okay, and to see if we would like anymore drinks which I think is excellent service. We went up to the bar to pay and there was no surprise to see Lucinda doing nothing. It’s a shame the staff do all the work whilst the owner stands behind the bar. Seeing how the place gets ran, we won’t be rushing back anytime soon

Visited The Croft at Beaconsfield for the first and last time today. I can honestly say I have never had a worse main course. The site is apparently owned by the Poole family. Well, they should get their fingers out and replace whoever has been let loose in The Croft kitchen. Two of us had starters which were good but when my main course came it bore no resemblance to its description on the menu. The menu described it as Pan Roasted Cod Wrapped in Serrano Ham with French style peas with ham hock, sauteed potatoes, Champagne sauce. Everything on the plate was over-cooked. The Serrano Ham was burnt to a crisp and inedible (see photo). The cod inside the ham was cooked to a point of being dry-straw like, the French-style peas (green beans) were boiled to within an inch of their life and the Champagne sauce was an over-set bechamel gloop which I very much doubt had ever seen a bottle of Champagne let alone contained any. The ham hock was cubes of ham of the type you get in a packet from a cheap supermarket. Normally I would have told the waitress I was unhappy when she asked if everything is alright but she never bothered to ask. In fact we didn't see her again and had to go to the bar to pay only to find her folding napkins. More training perhaps the Poole family? We are local having moved to the area a year ago. We eat out frequently but I'm afraid you have had my one and only sixty quid guys. There are local pubs and restaurants working incredibly hard to produce high quality meals. The Poole family should try them and then try your own restaurant for comparison maybe!

We went to the Red Lion one evening with family in October. Since the group was a bit larger, we were asked to announce our choice of food in advance when making the reservation. The menu with a large selection was available online, so that wasn't a problem for us. Each of the guests had chosen something different and, after a short wait, everyone was served their food at the same time. The service staff were very attentive. The guests, including those from France and Germany, were extremely satisfied and we had a lovely evening at the Red Lion. It's great that a small place like Myddle offers a restaurant like this. We'd love to come back! P.S. The Spiced Lamb Burger with Oregano fries and tzatziki and the Grilled Seabass Fillets with roasted garlic potatoes were great!
