The Boobas in Barnet

We had goujons & chips takeaway which was awful. Hardly any fish in the goujons which was just a load of batter and tasteless. The chips were even worse. Hard bits of burnt chippings and inedible. Total waste of money.

Here I am again..... can't keep away This time we ate in, as appose to takeaway. We visited with friends, who were also regulares there Same excellent fish 'n' chips with table service by friendly helpful staff. Same good value Cannesdid .... surfingsyd

Very simple fish and chips café. wE were the only customers -got there about 7pm and the food was without merit My fried cod was dry and I guess it was reheated and tasteless

I used to live within walking distance of Boobas and isnce moving 3 miles way I still use them for takeways The fish is superb and the prtions of chip are enormous You get friendly service and often get given a liitle cone of chips to eat while you waiting I won't go anywhere else for a fish and supper!

I have always found the fried fish to be fresh and tasty. The chips are good. The staff are friendly. Recommend the fried plaice in matzah meal.

Fish & Chips we ate in - the fish was fresh & moist but tasteless. The chips horrible & greasy as if they had been cooked several times and reheated. This use to be a lovely f&c shop, very disappointing and not cheap.

Friendly service, COD was massive for the price, but the batter wasn’t that great. Chip portion was big as well. Tasted better but it was ok for a quick lunch

Food was delicious and would come again. Tables cleans and fish was fresh. Came with my friends we were all satisfied

I use this fish and chip shop regularly and I find it to be consistently good nice staff that always pleasant & tasty fish & chips you can also eat in but I haven’t done that definitely worth a try

Have been going to Boobas for years. Me and wife are Gluten free so have are fish fryed in Matzso meal and it's always great, this time being no exception. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars, is they use a different oil to cook in now and it's not as good, wish they would go back to the older type of oil.

Have been to boobas many times with good experience for takeaway, I'm sorry to say I will not be going back, I ordered place & haddock mushy peas & chips, The fish was large & tasty, but tasted a little bit dried out, makes me wonder how fresh it was the chips were very disappointing, small bits mostly, some larger chips but very hard & dry, Had been reheated or cooked many times.mushy peas ok. Meal was overpriced for a takeaway £17:10

Disgusting, we had vommiting & food poisoning 3 hrs after eating their horrible fish n chips which was obviously very bad quality frozen fish and dry, overcooked chips, mostly small offcuts. All we ate all day before was bowl of corn flakes and an apple each so it was them that obviously caused the vommiting. Eat elsewhere in future!!

The fish was only average - I have definitely had better elsewhere. The chips and desserts were OK though. Good service too.

The food in boobas is the best fish and chips you can get anywhere and the texture of the food is just so good. If you are a fish fan then you should come and have some food in this very nice restaurant :-)

Having been a loyal customer for over 2 years I'm sad to say I shall not be ordering food from here again. The fish cod fillets did not taste good I doubt it was even cod. I could not eat my chips either they were hard like pellets disgusting taste! Previous orders tasted fine so unless they've changed suppliers and chef it is a mystery!

The high standard has been maintained for many years both eating in house and for take away .You wont be disappointed. Great taste and very good portions.

Went to Boobas because the usual Chippie was closed on a Sunday! What a stroke of luck. Placed an order for takeaway and arrived a few minutes early. Offered a small bag of chips - "whilst you wait, Sir". The grilled plaice was cooked to perfection whilst my daughter enjoyed the vegetarian burger and chips with salad. The staff are pleasant and the restaurant is refreshingly clean and inviting. The pricing is very reasonable. If I had to make a critical observation, then I would recommend you wear something that can be washed as soon as you get home - but this is a problem with any chippie shop. Boobas is now my local for fish n chips.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. Wonderfully cooked whitebaits followed by haddock & chips with salad as well. Very good value for money & friendly attentive female waitress. Will go back again soon.

There's fish & chips and there's Booba's fish and chips, we've eaten here on many occasions and never been disappointed. All the fish and chips are freshly fried to order (so expect a little wait) and the portions are extremely generous The menu, as one would expect, has all the popular fish which can be grilled if preferred.

New fresh design-new boobas with some fresh fish that cooked to order and crispy chips to your taste.

So far we tried plaice and cod.Very big portions.We did have humus as a starter.Our dishes were served with pickled cucumbers and some sort of tartar souce. Taste - delicious.Very crispy outside,soft and juicy inside. Next time we will try gridled fish.

Hemos estado usando este restaurante durante años y siempre encontramos la comida, tanto para llevar y comer en la cima y el personal. Esta es una carne libre de chippie, así que no hay pasteles o salchichas saveloy, sólo pescado recién preparado. Y las patatas...

Boobas sirven lo mejor de la pescado y patatas fritas que he probado jamás. Siempre tienen una cola para llevar pero preferimos comer. Siempre tengo la solla, que es tan grande que casi se cae los platos grandes.

Este es un acogedor restaurante, para llevar/pescado y patatas fritas. Siempre me dan la brasa eglefino y siempre es espléndido, ya sea en el restaurante o para llevar.

Please see my previous reviews. Excellent quality and quantity remain unchained. With large takeaway orders, they often throw in a gherkin, and if you are kept waiting a cone of chips are given as a taster. Can't beat it Cannesdid ..... surfingsyd

Very good fish and chips, they cook your fish while you wait. I always get a gherkin with my order as it goes really well with the fish. They're open on Sundays too, when all the other chip shops are closed. Worth the money!

I like it, the fish is a good size, well cooked, and comes with both chips and salad. Basic - no table cloths - marble tables. Good value. Does not do skate - limited menu.

This is my local fish and chip shop and restaurant and over the many years I have used it have found it reliably good. They cook when you order so fish and chips always fresh and their grilled fish also delicious. I like the way they serve pitta and Humas while one waits. The restaurant is not as busy as the take away and can lack atmosphere but if you want a satisfying fish and chip meal try it.

Very good quality fish and chips served generously. Definitely the stand-out chippy in the area. Highly recommended

Pretty bog standard fish and chips, bit dirty, seems to be popular with a lot of old folks but represents good value for money and good portion sizes. Tip: When you order takeaway they only start putting it on when you turn up.

Car parking in street but restrictions apply. Wife and I called in for supper after being recommended by friend and we were not disappointed. They only serve fresh fish so no frozen soggy mess here, only beautifully fried tender white fish. The chips were crisp outside and soft inside, just as they should be and no wonder Boobas has been nominated for the Best Chips in UK. The large serving of Cod and Chips was accompanied by a mixed salad and served with Tartare Sauce. This was definitely the best Fish and Chips we could remember eating for a long time and I have given five stars for the quality of the food and the excellent service we received. Well worth a visit if you want the best.

This was my second visit to Boobas. Please see my earlier review in May. Nothing's changed, thank goodness. My grilled fish was outstanding Very friendly staff, especially Carmen, towards children. If you are taking the children or grandchildren out, then this is the place. Well worth a visit, or revisit Wish my 2 Boobas cooked fish as well, Cannesdid ... surfingsyd

Visited here only once on a Take away to have at home the Fish was overcooked and the chips large and I think the oil needed changing as they tasted horrible threw it in the bin

Situated in Hale Lane Edgware, opposite Deansbrook Garage. Parking if you are lucky outside, if not, in the surrounding streets. Beautifully cooked fresh fish and chips to eat in, or take away. Friendly service. The restaurant is a bit drab, but the food is delicious and well presented. Very large portions, even if you order small, Very reasonably priced fare as were the drinks. Children's menu available Well worth a visit..... and open on Sundays Cannedid ....surfingsyd
