A wonderful venue with a great vibe and excellent food.

My girlfriend and I recently visited the beautiful Spaniards Inn after a walk on Hampstead Heath and ordered their roast for two. We were served an impressive platter featuring perfectly cooked beef, lamb, chicken, and delightful pigs in blankets. Each meat was tender and flavorful, and the accompanying roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, and vegetables added the perfect touch. The beef was especially juicy, and the gravy brought everything together wonderfully. The pub’s cozy, traditional atmosphere made it a great spot to unwind. Highly recommend this roast—great value and delicious! If you are having a roast with one other person I would highly recommend getting the sharing roast as you get ALOT more and it is a lot better value for money. The normal roast is very good but a little small for a big fella like myself. It’s also Pet Friendly! Our polite pup sat under the table inside as we snuck her bits of the roast.

Good food in a charming and interesting setting.

The head staff (it was a guy, I don't know his name) wasn't terribly friendly. He seemed choleric but I've only had one interaction. I was just asking if they served toward the back (patio) and he kept looking at me like I'm an idiot asking me where in the back. I was pointing it to him but he kept giving me this look like I was asinine for even asking as if I was asinine for even asking. I'm not from the UK nor have I ever visited this place before so I wasn't exactly sure how large or small this place was so or how foolish my pointing it out was to him. I think he could have been more understanding as I was nothing but polite both during and after.

The upstairs room was very hot, but got better after we opened the window. Friendly service but she could have done with some help - took a while for order to be taken and then there was a wait for drinks and for food. It was busy though, and it was explained there was a 30min wait for mains - more accurate a 40min wait for starters Food was great though. Dog friendly 😀

Cost me £100 to park in their car park. Arrived in the dark - parked for less than two hours - no idea I had to pay - you didn’t used to. Charged £100 - I will never go there again. What a terrible business model. No wonder the pub was empty on a Friday night

Food was very good, however the menu said the roast would come with pigs in blankets and stuffing, neither of those came with the meal. It’s a big shame that the brunette waitress with the glasses in the Dickens room that served us made the whole experience very unpleasant for us, we’ve never experienced such rude attitude anywhere before, there was no reason for her to have that attitude towards us. When we told the waitress about the lack of pigs in blankets, she said “it’s just two anyway” and when she brought them she threw the dish on the table aggressively. No service given by her, felt like she avoided us when we were asking to order and bring a fork. When it came to clearing the plates, she purposely left a plate on our table, even when we were the only table remaining in the room. As we were paying the bill, we asked for the service charge out as there was no service given by her, and her attitude to this was unacceptable, when it came to paying she dismissively and arrogantly handed the card machine to us, and finished off with a rudely said “ok cool” and walked off. It really was so uncalled for, we were very disappointed as we had high hopes and the food was nice, and the service doesn’t do this place any justice.

Delightful as ever. I'd been away for a while; donated a kidney a week ago and where else would I go for that first pint and delicious scotch egg post-Op! Best Timothy Taylors I've had in years.

The Spaniards Inn is the northernmost pub in Hampstead, London NW3, so it has that very nice half in town, and half suburban location. The pub's interior and its leafy gardens are so relaxing to be in. I'm always telling friends how lovely the Spaniards is. No improvement needed in terms of the lovely service on part of the staff or the lovely ambience.

Lovely Sunday roast, will be back.

Ok-ish pub but left with such a sour taste with their parking situation. I arrived with my wife and baby daughter, ordered some food and drinks, began to relax then remembered the car park needs validation at the bar. The bar staff informed me that you have to validate within 15 minutes and because we were after that, there was nothing I could do - I’d be sent a PCN via the cameras. The manager Sarah gave me a business card and told me to appeal. I did exactly that and Euro Car Parks rejected the appeal saying the rules are the rules. So what was a quiet drink and some lunchtime food, rare for us with a young baby, came with an added £60 surcharge simply for parking in the car park of a pub where I was a paying customer. Just madness. Car parking firms do as car parking firms do, it’s the pub that allows this to happen on their site that is responsible. Shameful.

We booked and arrived early for two rounds of drinks (4 pints came to over £30!). When we were seated for our meal, we were informed that the one vegetarian friendly roast option was not available and they weren't really able to sub anything in. The waiter was very friendly and the establishment itself is nice. It is just a shame as we were really looking forward to trying the food at the Spaniards' Inn but will likely not return. The couple next to us informed us that they come regularly and often they run out of items- they said they often have to settle for their third choice! As people with dietary restrictions, we can't really take that gamble unfortunately.

Food was delayed and waiter apologised without being asked . When the mains arrived the lamb and hamburger were overcooked and dry. First time I’ve seen my 19 year old son leave half a burger behind. The waiter was going to take it back but as the food was already delayed I told him not to worry. They took a small wine off the bill for compensation. When I went to pay I was told I could pay downstairs so I went down to pay and was told I had to either wait at the bar or go back upstairs. I told the guy I was pretty unhappy and he was rude and quite aggressive. I was told he was the general manager. I walked away, went upstairs, paid the bill and left. Will not return. Appreciate the reply below - you came across aggressive in your reply downstairs and I didn’t want a confrontation - if you wanted to sort it out you could have come upstairs - but you didn’t. Hope you learn from this. Apologies for the name calling - I was upset but no excuse.

Just the most wonderful English pub. This suddenly became my favourite London pub.

The food and wine were excellent. We had the wild boar bangers and mash, duck salad and a really lovely Fleurie. Our server was also lovely- he was very kind and personable and made good suggestions. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Such a charming, historic building. This was our second visit. Our first we could not get a booking inside but were able to sit outside— which is also nice— lots of space and heaters for when it’s chilly.

The pastry on my ham and leek pie was inedible like trying to cut through a chunk of carbonised fossil.

Heard lots of good things about this place, but it was a real let down. Took close to 55 mins to get our food, apart from waiter called Alex, they were pretty inattentive, not offering more drinks, clearing our places. One waitress split oil over our friend and just said 'my bad' and didn't try to help any further. We had another booking over xmas, but given this experience we won't rush back! The food was nice, but just be prepared to wait excessively and be ignored by most of the staff.

Disgraceful standards of food ! Complacency and arrogance should be embarrassing for locals to entertain anyone here! AVOID!!!!! I can go further and say atrocious quality of food

Authentic cozy Irish pub. I only had a drink there, the staff was very friendly.

Service appaling..staff were more interested in wiping empty tables than removing our empty plates. The waitres arrived with our main course before removing the empty starter plates so we had to clear it ourselves. The pastry on my pie was inedible.. over cooked and so hard I couldn't get my fork into it. We asked for tea for two ..the waitress bought us one small pot of tea and a single coffee cup..took a while to get her attention again she said she thought we were going to share! And would bring us another cup..after waiting..I went to the bar to ask for a tea cup and saucer..found the waitress there chatting with a colleague..I used to love the Spaniads..been going there since the early 1990s..I will not be returning. It was also over priced

Most staff were barely friendly. I was there on a Tuesday and the pub was not crowded. I noticed they were that way with everyone, not just me. I will not go back.

I've been coming to The Spaniards Inn since 2012. On my first visit I was extremely impressed and charmed with the heritage and homely feel of the place. The food and service were great too. At some point over the next couple of years The Spaniards underwent a major reshaping, which included a makeover of the menu. When we returned after this (2015?) Everything had become more posh and the menu prices were quite a bit higher. Some of our favourite items had disappeared. Since that time everything has continued to feel less and less personal and the menu prices continue to climb (even higher than keeping pace with inflation in my opinion). I think when we first went the fish and chips was around £12, then it went up and up and up and now it's just under £20. Mind you it's a great fish and chips and still a great location, but is it THAT great? On our recent visit we sat next to several large tables under the canopy in the beer garden. The other table had some issues, so our server got bogged down with them after serving our meals. For an hour, we didn't have any service and had to get the bus boy to get our bill. Once we had the bill we couldn't get the server's attention to pay it (bless her she was now fully embroiled in a complaint with the big table). Nearby another big table was having issues with their meal mixups too, so I think the server was totally overwhelmed. I'm not sure if this was because the customers surrounding us were those particularly high maintenance North Londoners, or because the server made a lot of mistakes, but in any case we were without service for a long time. There was another time a year a go (can't afford to go there as often anymore with the new prices) when the card system went down and none of our party had cash, so we had to leave without eating. Maybe we've just had bad fortune with Spaniards these days, but what was once a simple, historic country-style pub in the city has turned into a proposition where cost vs benefit has failed us. I do hope to return and bring some out-of-town guests by, but maybe we'll try a weekday afternoon when the service should be less chaotic.

Atrocious service, had to wait an hour for our mains. Very inattentive staff, no attempt to apologise for delay. Didn’t bother with dessert in case we had to wait another hour. Used to be great. Won’t be back.

I had the most amazing time în spaniards inn!was my birthday last wensday and me and my boyfriend decide to go spaniards. We start with some lagers and after that we moved to some cocktails!We meet Gina behind The bar and she done some amazing drinks!she even plan with my boyfriend a mini cake and sing happy birthday to me!thank you very much Gina!

The place is nice and have a beautiful space outside perfect for sunny days. The place was quite full but didnt have problem to find space in the garden. Most of the tables were dirty with the previous drinks and plates and staff didnt come for ages to clean. I had to ask twice as the first waitress ignored me. It was unproffesional. Overall the experience was good.

Absolutely gorgeous. One of the best pubs in London. It gets busy, make sure you make a reservation. And try the Bloody Mary! It's excellent!

We arrived early, having booked for 1pm but were shown immediately to our table. My wife ordered the Linguini with prawns and crab. I ordered the chicken, ham hock and leek pie. The food was excellent and served in a very reasonable time. My wife loved hers, my only small quible concerned the pie crust which was hard to cut with the knife. Overall a very pleasant visit with attentive and courteous staff. Will definately visit again.

I have to say it was a fantastic evening. This was a night to celebrate a colleague's leaving do and new job. Got there early and decided to have some drinks. The lovely Gina who was at the bar served us and I asked whether she could make a bespoke cocktail based on my hair colour (see photos). She did and surpassed expectations. It was a rum based cocktail and delightfully dangerous on the sweet, making it very easy to drink. The staff were wonderful. My colleague had booked outside thinking it would be a pleasant evening but it turned out to be a chilly evening the staff had prepared a table upstairs as backup in anticipation which I thought was a very nice touch. Top marks for that! The dinner was top notch. Had the scallop entre and the linguine main. Could not fault it. A pleasant and fun evening overall. Oh and if you are ever in for experimental cocktails ask for Gina.. she will whip up one for you..

If you visit London, you should definitely go to the Spaniards Inn Pub. Food is delicious, the place is cozy and the staff goes out of their way to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Next time we visit London, we will definitely go there again.

Visited today 7th September, noted that several cask ales appeared to be available, pump clips present and turned towards the customers. I chose a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord, my wife chose a shandy and we ordered 2 bags of crisps. After taking a payment of over £17, the staff member announced that the Landlord and all other ales except London Pride were off. My wife chose London Pride on my behalf joined me in the garden. I noticed on the garden menu that London Pride was cheaper than the Landlord I had been charged for. My Wife said that she had mentioned this to the server but this was just met with a shrug. The London Pride was not in good condition. So our choice of beer (as apparently available) was not available, we had been served with a cheaper replacement in poor condition and overcharged. We will not be visiting again.

I absolutely love this pub. It is beautiful, has fairy lights all over the place, an intelligent heating system that keeps you warm and delicious food. It is very cozy but at the same time you have enough privacy - it’s a perfect combination. I literally have tried every dish on the menu and loved every single one. And when it comes to the team, I am just in awe. The entire team is kind, friendly, helpful and funny. I adore this place and will come here as often as possible! Thank you so much!!

On Wednesday 5 September, we waited a long time to be served and when I went to bar to ask for service we were told that we had to order at the bar. The food arrived. My grilled cod was a very small portion and the fish did not taste fresh. My friend ordered mango and avocado salad. The avocado was black and tasted awful. It was very cold and watery and it was obvious that it was frozen and thawed. We complained and the manager told us that we were not the only ones complaining about the food. She gave us a refund for the salad. I have been going to this place regularly for at least 3 years but recently the standard of the food has fallen. I will not be going there again,

Incredibly accommodating team! So grateful they managed to fit us in for an anniversary dinner despite our lack of booking, the barman was more than happy to convert my bloody Mary into a Red Snapper (swapping vodka for Sipsmith Gin) and the place was so busy that we had a long wait in between courses, but they made sure we were well looked after.

Always excellent food here and worth visiting. Cozy, historic pub oozing character in the heath. Inside dining room can be a bit warm on Summer days! Both otherwise, everything was great.

Unique place, with a lot of history to tell, delicious food, very attentive service. And you can also stroll through the park before or after lunch.

Had a nice time with friends, enjoying a delicious Sunday roast. Giving 4 stars simply because chicken was quite dry and they served our roast forgetting two of the ingredients, but delivered them later separately. Sticky toffee pudding was outstanding and would recommend it.

We had a very disappointing evening here unfortunately for such a lovely pub and location, the atmosphere was the only thing that really saved it. Our experience was on a Sunday, so we expected it to be busy, but the table we were shown to was so sticky that clearly no one had cleaned it all day and our clothes stuck to it when leaning on it. We paid for a roast lamb (which came very well done), fish and chips (which also came very well done) and a mango and avocado salad with prawns which was a stretch to include mango in the name, for such a fancy menu the food was really disappointing and quite bland. The service was slow and when we were asked at the end whether we enjoyed everything and gave our honest answer that we were disappointed, got quite defensive reaction along the lines of ‘we had been asked earlier and said it was ok’ - truthfully we were too polite to say this is all crap.. final bill was £118 with three mains and three starters and one desert - and a Pepsi and tonic water no other drinks.. The chocolate desert and the goats cheese starter were the only things worth the price, everything else was very disappointing.

Service at Spaniards inn always welcoming, staff are careful to explain the menu to accommodate any special requirements. Classic, elevated pub fare just wish they had a little more for vegetarians. Zayn super helpful at the start with our drinks too :)

I cannot fault the Spaniards Inn. I chose to book it for my daughter’s 30th birthday and 16 of us enjoyed every minute of it. It was run so efficiently by Gina and Kayleigh who couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious as was the ambience. We will be back.

Had a great evening at our regular pub and thank you to Zain especially for great service tonight. A true asset to the team here, always on hand for anything.

We went to The Spaniard Inn for a mid week evening meal with friends and sat in the garden restaurant area- which is huge. It has such a good atmosphere and vibe. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. The cocktail menu had a good selection. The outdoor heaters were a nice touch as the evening progressed. The only downside was the mosquitos, which can't be helped. We had a look around the inside and upstairs of the Inn before we departed. What an interesting old building steeped in history, we will definitely be back!

The organisation was excellent - the table outside was great - staff were effective and professional & the three lunch dishes we had were excellent.

We had a lovely lovely Sunday lunch and the staff are splendid 💙 We tried different spritz on the drink menu and they are all so so yum💙💙💙 Thank you for a lovely roast 😊
