The Boathouse Restaurant in Chichester

Take a book to read while you wait for your waiter and then wait for your food. What's wrong with their system? Poor training and attention to detail? Captive audience and no incentive to push the Boathouse out?

Servicio sin una sonrisa. La comida era muy promedio, y caro. Tres niños, dos adultos - Almuerzo (pescado y patatas fritas, con bebidas) 35 libras! ! !

This is exactly what the Marina needed - they are reliably good value and good consistent food in a nice, informal, busy restaurant.

Excellent choice of food. Amazing surroundings and wonderful views. Friendly staff. Dogs welcomed. Great for all ages.

Simplemente tengo una palabra y eso es terrible, que mi compañero y yo, guisantes, patatas fritas tarta y un doner kebab blanda. No puedo cocinar, pero lo pondré de esta manera mi intento hubiera sido mucho mejor y cuestan la mitad del precio de £17.90. Ah, este precio no incluye el pan de pita con mi kebab, me dijeron que también leí el menú al pedir esto. Ahora desearía no haber molestado.

Después de un día increíble en West Wittering Beach, paramos para pescado y patatas fritas con vistas a comer en la playa y ver el atardecer. Tuvimos que hacer cola durante más de 45 minutos, pedimos 5 comidas (cerca de 40 libras), nos fuimos a la playa (por el cual nos habíamos perdido la puesta!), abrió la bolsa - sólo 4 comidas allí. Dejé a mi familia en la playa y caminamos hasta el cobertizo, explicó que había una comida que faltaba y luego nos gritó por los chicos detrás del mostrador, delante de una cola de gente, básicamente diciendo que era un mentiroso y que tendría que pagar si quería algo más. Después de negarse a salir, al final tuvimos un pedazo de abadejo en mí pero colgados no me daba las patatas fritas. Servicio terrible!! La comida estaba bien como era la chica que trabajaba allí. No vamos allí!!

Llegamos sobre las 18:30. Hacer cola fuera de la puerta. Veinte minutos más tarde, llegó al frente de la cola. Solicité una pequeña cod y patatas fritas y uno grande. Mi novio le gusta su pescado y patatas fritas con sal y vinagre balsámico ahogados en y preguntó si podía hacer de su propia vida. Me dijeron que no, y no tenemos tiempo, demasiado ocupado. Pensamos que era broma. Él no estaba. Nuestros primos estaban detrás de nosotros en la cola. Pedimos dos de bacalao y patatas fritas y un kebab. Me dijeron que esperar contra la pared. Fuimos afuera a esperar para ellos. Puerta a la parte del restaurante fue abierto con una silla en la puerta. Mi novio fuimos, abrimos su pescado y patatas fritas y poner más sal y vinagre en una mesa. El chico que se había "servido" nos gritó" feliz ahora?" En serio?

Fantastic haddock and chips, just don't eat it with a thick shake unless you can walk it all off afterwards. Very full but happy! Lovely friendly service and reasonable prices. Easy to get a table without booking.

Really unorganised, total joke, didn't have a clue what they were doing. Food ok, but nothing special, won't be bothering again

The whole place just smacked of grease. The people there who grumpy and I dont think spoke English. Its the kind of place that it would't surprise me if they spat in your food (they didnt really, it just gave of that vibe)

Camped at Scott's Farm & ate here again. Home cooked food in a lovely homely setting. Reasonable prices very friendly staff.

Tried this place for the first time after giving it a wide birth following a previous poor meal. No better, in fact worse. The kebab was very greasy abnd of poor quality and a very small portion. Staff are quite rude. There is competition in the village so you would think they step up their quality. Oh well, never again.

Had a nice lunch with my Daughter and Grandchildren. They had Burgers. We had Focachia bread with cheese and tomato. Nice lunch. Good service!

Service, attitude and the food very very disapointing, who is actually responsible for not training the staff in this place?

A really awful and disappointing experience in every way. A simple takeaway order was messed up in terms of a missing item - I only discovered this when I got back to my family. What really annoyed me about this was the fact that, before leaving the restaurant, I asked the servers to check that the order was correct. There's just no excuse for this especially given the fact that it was a simple order, clearly stated. I note that the restaurant had no problems charging me the "correct" amount of money! The chicken kebab (shish) was very dry with the remnant taste of crude curry powder spicing, the chips were greasy husks of potato and the donner kebab was low on taste. The lamb shish was lacking flavour (could have done much better myself).

Went for a meal with my family and ended up walking out with nothing, manger was extremely rude and threw our money back at us, he has a terrible attitude and makes me wonder how the shop survives, such a lovely location too, can't comment on food although was quite pricey, had to wait 20 mins and wasn't allowed to wait at the table got told no. Definitely do not recommend and will never go back again.

We agreed to meet a friend and have lunch at the Boathouse. Great location and we 'Shabby chic' feel of this restaurant. But the food was a huge disappointment. I had fish finger sandwich....it looked like it had been put together by a toddler And tasted like cardboard. My wife had a haloumi and avocado salad.......what a disgrace, it was a large bed of red cabbage with very little of anything else, in fact we never did see the avocado. Our guest had whitebait......we didn't ask how his meal was. We didn't make a fuss as we were mindful of our guest. Needless to say a massive disappointment.....and we will not be re-visiting.We have had evening meals and been happy......but our advice is avoid lunch.

Location location location might be good enough when looking to buy ...but it's not enough when you go out for lunch or dinner ! Found this restaurant n it's fantastic location and was very disappointed with the service , waited a very long time for our main course to arrive and my guest's meal had hot fish and cold chips ,my main had cold oven roasted lamb on a bed of warm veg . What a let down ! and the manager said it's not an excuse but we are very busy why say it if not to use it as an excuse i for one will not bother to go back .

A mid week catch up with friends proved disappointing. Not only did we have to wait ages for service, despite very few other customers, but when the food did arrive, the salmon was raw, and the salad I ordered was basically a plate full of red cabbage - and bitter at that!! A shame really, as the restaurant came highly recommended too. I won't be rushing back.

This was the first time I had visited the boathouse and was slightly apprehensive as the reviews were mixed. I found the restaurant clean, welcoming and it had a really chilled vibe. The staff were polite and helpful. I would recommend and will definitely return.

Went to Wittering for a spot of surfing and walking at the weekend. We ordered a LARGE portion of chips for £2.60, this usually is ample for the two of us. We live in London and always have chips left over. What we got here was basically a child's portion in a polystyrene tray. I was gobsmacked that at £2.60 we were robbed, in daylight, in public. They must be having a laugh at this establishment? She asked if I would like vinegar and salt. I said yes, a dismal amount of vinegar was added. I asked if she could add more. She did, without a smile. Half way through our tiny portion my partner had to go back and ask for more vinegar and salt but this time took it upon herself to add the condiments. My sister lives in Herne bay and when we get a large portion to go with our fish, one portion of chips feeds three adults and it's cheaper than this place!! London is cheaper than this place. I won't be coming back.

We went for afternoon tea, the staff were very polite and helpful. The sandwiches and cake were lovely, light and fresh. A nice building with plenty of space between the tables, and lovely and warm. All in a really nice location, in the marina. This was a birthday present for my wife from my daughter, we both had a great time.

My friends and I have been here a few times before and enjoyed our meal. However, this time there was no 'specials' board, so my favourite dish of fishcake, poached egg on greens was no longer available. The menu was uninteresting, but as I like to eat lightly at lunchtime, chose the fried squid with salad. The squid tasted of nothing, and the lettuce was browning! However, the restaurant itself is attractive and tables well spaced out. Also room to sit out on the deck, weather permitting.

We went here for the first time today. As rejoinders of the sailing community we were keen to sample the new eating facilities. We ordered 2 full breakfasts and a sausage bap. The bistro is really pretty but our order was a long time coming and when it did arrive it was one breakfast short. I was informed on reinspection that the order taker had only written down one full breakfast and we had only paid for one - completely missing the point that the order was a breakfast short and therefore ruined our family experience. The one that did arrive did not match the order written down of no black pudding either. And the coffee was tepid. The food was very overcooked. Maybe they do better at non breakfast but we will be eating in other establishments on the marina in future. The waitress apologised but the manager was more intent on showing we had what we paid for - regardless of whether we got what we wanted. Seems like one of those places where they think they have a captive audience so can act accordingly. Very pricey too. Avoid.
