Regular visits on Friday night and I can say that if you know how to order the service is good The oap fish and chips are just enough ( but only just!) All smiles from the staff who are actually working when you aren’t Back again soon 😎

Tiny portions probably not even the size of my hand for a regular cod and chips, expensive prices, might as well called themselves a cod and chip shop as rudely told us they can't do any other fish even though they're advertised. Took probably ten minutes of waiting in a queue for one of the 4 staff members behind the counter to stop chatting and take anyone's orders. Wasn't even told the price when paying they just tried to take the money from us. Wouldn't recommend very disappointed.

Small portions and unwelcoming, "reg" chips and "reg" cod equates to an OAP portion at best but charged £9.50, feels steep even at the OAP price (£6), only frying cod no other fish, generally a poor experience, disappointed

Well I've never tasted such a good sausage in batter it was absolutely delicious great chips too

Omg just had oap fish and chips they were so lovely did not want to finish .the chip were spot on and the fish was lovely .full stomach now so well worth the money £6.50 cant go wrong

We often drive down from London to take time out in the lovely village of selsey today was that day but on walking back ti our car we noticed a side door at the Delicious Dens fish and chip shop with signs saying Dens the restaurant….. holy fish I thought but obviously as a keen lover of all things Dens had to stay and investigate. The menu is amazing £14 quid for large COD chips - mushy peas - bread butter and a Can of pop or a hot drink unbelievable. They also have a licence to sell alcohol if you so desire. Food arrived hot fresh and 100% Pure melt in the mouth cod and proper potato chips so large I struggle to devour . The service the blonde haired lady I am sure I am seen her in the shop on previous visits but what charm and character proper old school hospitality that some top restaurants in London could learn from an absolute credit to the place . Highly recommended 5*******

Dens’s Fish Bar’s new restaurant in Selsey is lovely and cosy. I highly recommend for a sit down meal. I sat in the new restaurant and had a lovely large cod and chips also a cheeky side of curry sauce which was divine yesterday afternoon whilst it was raining. It came with a free coffee as well as a slice of bread and butter on a plate. Lovely and friendly staff. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the cod and chips were divine because the owners changed the oil on a regular basis which is always a bonus. It doesn’t taste or look greasy at all. Nice portions. Definitely the best chip shop around in my opinion.

Busy Saturday night with a 20 min wait for take away. We were visiting the area and was hoping for some fresh food. Was really disappointed that the cod was grey and wooly(definitely frozen not fresh), chips were raw and not cooked through, the whole lot was swimming in so much grease it was awful. Definitely would not go back based on the experience.

Considering the queue outside the place, I expected better quality. Maybe I'm old school, but I often find that when a fish and chip shop tries to do too many other dishes (pizzas, burgers etc) then the quality of the fish and chips suffers; I think this is true for the particular establishment. As fish and chips go, I have had far worse, but I've also had a lot better.

Disgusting! Chips were undercooked. Curry sauce was runny Battered burger was charcoal and hardly any batter on. Partner had a bad stomach few hours after eating.

Den's fish bar is onr of three chip shops in Selsea. They are always happy and smiling in there. The food is great, and cooked fresh to order. I wish they had Haddock more as its my go to chipshop fish of choice. Great value in thease times too.

Phone through your order and it'll be ready for collection. AND there's no need to queue to collect you go in the OUT door!!! Always fresh, always a friendly face. Perfect!!

The best fish and chip bar ! Have been going to dens on a Friday night for years wouldn't go anywhere else all the staff are so friendly food delicious 😋 the cod is amazing!!

The fish and chips were delicious, and cheap compared to what we pay at home.

Excellent quality and extremely friendly service.

Portion sizes are terrible. A large chips is the size of a standard portion, and chips were undercooked. Curry sauce is very watery and has zero flavour.

Love the food here. Always go to them when I'm in town. The staff are really nice and this is a real asset to the high Street. Keep up the great work guys.

We stopped here whilst on a visit to Selsey and wanted some fish & chips on the beach. All four of us ordered something different and the food was lovely, and made really quickly, The chips were the best we have had from a chip shop! I will definitely come back when we next visit and would recommend to anyone wanting a nice fish and chip dinner.

We've had friend staying this week from Hounslow and they wanted proper fish and chips. We normally go elsewhere when we are here but was disappointed the last time. DENS is PROPER OLD FASHIONED fish and chips We all loved it. Great batter and great portions. See you in a fortnight.

Nice fish and chips service a bit slow

Dens is a very popular fish and chip shop in Selsey. We have never been disappointed yet with the quality and service. WE normally like Haddock, but they only have it now and then. But the cod makes a nice change now and then.

Food can be a bit variable in quality at times but overall its nice, can get very busy in peak times and peak season, waiting area could be nicer, staff very pleasant. The price for what you get is now being contested by a new fish and chip shop on the seafront, where you get nicer quality and portions and den's seemed to have ignored this? Usually more local competition increases everyone's quality and values but this doesn't seem the case here. Overall, its a nice place to go and get a fish and chips from however not the best.

The fish and chips here are great --so well cooked crispy and fresh ! AND Den does an OAP portion of fish & chips for £5.50 !!!! AMAZING! We ALWAYS go here when visiting Selsey . Thanks Den !

I can't remember if i've ever had worse fish and chips. It was swimming in oil. The 2 of the 3 haddock were mushy and foul tasting, so either too long in the freezer or off. The chips were squidgy and oily. It was very busy, so best guess they were trying to turn the food around too quickly and didn't allow the oil to heat up properly before frying the next batch. Wasn't cheap either and £35 for 4 meals (and we shared the chips). Only ate a small amount before feeling nauseous. Almost everything ended up in the bin.

Read a lot of reviews before deciding to try the fish supper from Den's. My score (along with my son) is 7.5/10. Overall, a tasty meal with plenty of chips and a decent sized piece of cod. Chips were not my absolute favourite, but were crisp on the outside and grease free. The fish batter though was greasy even though it had been draining for a while. Batter very crisp and crunchy, so not sure where the grease was really coming from. Anyway, we both did enjoy everything. Cost was average compared to other places.

previously a very good quality of food, HOWEVER we tried again in April 2022 and was left disappointed. our accommodation was literally a 3 minute trip but by the time we got to plate it up the batter on the fish was so greasy it stuck to the paper and we were left with just plain fish. this used to be the best chippie around :(

This has to be the best place for fish in the area! Always queues as your meal is cooked fresh whilst you wait. No re-heated lunchtime leftovers here, just fantastic fish n chips

One of my favourite locations for a Wednesday drive out. Good portions, not greasy, and a great car park that overlooks the sea so that you can eat them, just at the end of the road. Staff always seem cheerful and chatty.

This is I'm saying the best fish and chip shop I've ever come across in the UK ever, and I've been to more than 500 in 40 years. Even got filmed for a documentary in banks in Hove and that's on whole new lvls as a high end restaraunt. Dens beats the food on all aspects vs all the rest. Its the cleanest, best operating independant family business,l I've come across, one of the best. Total privalege to be be lucky to live close by, for me and my fiance, my family it's a 10/10. I'm a superfan 😊 wish you was open 7 days a week 16 hours a day, but i know how it is, part of the reason why dens just gets it right, always.

Place was busy, always a good sign. Fish was lovely as were the peas. Chips were a little anemic for us(personal taste probably) We recommend this Dens fish bar.
