Visited The Boat Inn for the first time yesterday to watch the England game. Fantastic athmosphere , lovely beer garden, two guys were singing , not locals I believe but sang We live and die in these towns by our boys The Enemy, they were awesome. Food was lovely. Will definitely visit again

Food is absolutely top notch. All staff are really lovely and helpful. Would definitely recommend visiting.

Have been a few times to this pub, but ladt night awful food, we had rump steak, Rock hard, the chips were old chips, gone hard because of being left long time sitting

Fantastic family pub, landlady is lovely as are her bar staff, I bring my dad to this pub every week to eat, we also bring our 2 dogs who are very welcome, hence the reason we return. Great food, great atmosphere.

Our experience at The Boat Inn was thoroughly disappointing. Despite the lovely bar staff directing us to the restaurant area, after much discussion, which was empty, due to the extremely cold weather and our young child and dog, halfway through our drinks. The landlady abruptly told us our dog wasn't allowed there, despite prior approval from the bar staff which I explained to her. Her response? "I don't care." Terrible service and communication, making for an overall unpleasant visit. We had to stand in the snow whilst my partner finished his pint. The heating area does not work. The pub advertises itself as dog friendly however dogs are only allowed in the back bar area where children cannot go. During the cold weather, this makes it extremely hard for families with dogs to have a drink at the local pub. The staff are lovely, as are the customers, but the landlady was extremely rude. Had she asked us nicely to move, this reveiw wouldn't be as bad. We are new to the area and will not be visiting again.

Owner was very rude, door says dogs are welcome but I was told that I had to stand outside, the worse part was the way I was talked to, for a pub with such low clients, the owner should try and be a bit more polite

Small place, so if you go for food best to book Cottagey and quirky beams, but i have to say the food is excellent!

Service very slow, table very small for seven people and we had booked in advance

Had another lovely meal there with my friend ,two weks in a run, always good and hot ,food tasty and staff lovely ,even took my dog in the bar ,great veing able to take her to .steak and pie the best

Lunch Friday 13th 2023. I had small fish chips and mushy peas. The batter was crispy not fatty nice size piece of fish, lovely chips and peas. My friend had the 10 oz gammon it must have been an 1” thick I thought it was a very thick pork chop, chips and etc, all I could think was she will never eat all that but she did, even the lovely waitress was surprised. The staff are super sadly I didn’t take their names. As everything is cooked fresh we did have to wait but we were not in a hurry, and we felt relaxed and happy on our way home. Five * should be 10. Thank you ladies it was delicious.

Good Pint of Guinness and a lovely beef roast, well worth a visit.

The landlady is absolutely lovely. But the pub is ruined as its an absolute dive. Have the nice bit with the elderly lot. Then the other side well words cant describe all of their faces on drugs and alcohol. Disrespect women the men does. Been there once and couldn't wait to leave. The food looks really lovely though.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a staff member, went for a birthday meal with work and my 8 week old SLEEPING child and I was made to feel so unwelcome, my entire table was refused service unless I ordered a full course meal which I wouldve been willing to pay for if the bar staff hadn't been so rude. She was throwing dirty looks for the half an hour I was there. Would've slightly understood if my daughter was screaming and kicking off but she slept on me from the moment we arrived.

Never been to a more unwelcoming pub my young son not welcome on a quiet Saturday afternoon “he can’t come in the lounge or the bar in fact he will have to sit outside” What a welcome don’t deserve business.

First time we have eaten at the boat, there was a good choice of food on the menu, my wife had the cajun chicken and I had the chilli, both were enjoyable, pleasent staff, we would eat here again.

I've lived in Shilton for 45 years, i went to the boat for the first time last year, the food wasn't too bad, but its so poor in there, the furniture looked like it had been there for so many years. TBH i think that the only people that highly rate this pub, are the regulars, i had a read of the reviews, and most of the positives are from people that have been going there, regularly for donkeys years. I don't want to go to this clicky public again.

Ham Baguette & real chips absolutely wonderful. Amazing amount of ham in the Baguette and the home made chips are spectacular 👌

Stopped here with a couple of friends 2 days ago, the weather was lovely so we thought we would have a cold one and the outside looks quite nice. Well one thing was right, the outside was nice but the attitude of the barmaid was appalling. She looked and acted like a sulky teenager. Not one smile, not one hello, just RUDE. Won’t be returning, I won’t justify paying their prices for the service received.

My friend and I went for lunch today, service started really friendly we ordered tuna jacket potato & chilli con carne, the meals came my tuna jacket was okay but the chilli tasted like a tin of tomatoes with a couple - and I mean a couple of bits of meat and maybe 4 kidney beans, no spice or chilli taste at all honestly the worst chilli ever! When the server came to clear the table she asked how our meals were and we told her the chilli was not good, she asked if we wanted anything and my friend said a glass of wine. When paying the bill I questioned it as it seemed a lot, she apologised and said it was someone else's and she would redo it, I asked if the second glass of wine was on there as it still seemed high, it was, I said we were offered something as the chilli was so bad, she took it off the bill. When leaving I felt like we were accosted by the server and were told she did not offer anything free - my friend asked oh what did you mean when you said you would sort it? she replied she'd told the chef but as most of the chilli had been consumed he wouldn't do anything (half had actually been consumed) she proceeded to say they were going to be a glass of wine down now and I said you should have taken the price of the chilli off the bill as it was awful, she did say there was no need for me to be rude, but to tell the truth at this point I couldn't believe how they had handled the situation and being confronted on the way out I was out of patience, I said not only had they lost the price of the wine but 2 customers who will never come back and tell our friends of this experience, the server said she would get someone as I had the impression she wanted the £3.45 back, we walked out and will not return

Used The Boat a few time as a teenager and it was a proper spit and sawdust pub. Now it's a warm and friendly place with a decent menu and selection of regular and guest beers. Food is always spot on and staff though busy always make you feel welcome. Has some historical maps and pics on the walls too which may be of interest.

My wife and me have lived in Walsgrave for over 6 years and driven past this pub many times but finally actually called in yesterday afternoon and wished we'd done this years ago. As it was a Tuesday afternoon in February it was fairly quiet but still a good smattering of locals and very friendly staff. It's a wonderful old pub that stands where the original Oxford Canal would have passed by so has the feel of a country pub. It has 2 small bars but also has good size dining areas. We didn't eat this time but will have lunch there soon as the menu has a good assortment of popular pub meals. There were 3 different real ales on hand pull which is good for a small pub. It promotes itself as dog friendly and 'boot' friendly so should be popular with walkers. For the warmer months there are beer gardens at the front, back & side and there is a good size car park out the back as well. This is a really wonderful, friendly pub that we'll certainly be calling back into on a regular basis...just wish we'd found it sooner!!

I have visited this pub on many occasions and every year around Christmas time I visit it with a group of friends for a festive meal. The food is freshly cooked and plentiful and the staff are very friendly and obliging. It is a very old building and not too large but perfectly adequate. I would certainly recommend the food. It is a popular place and in the summer months there is seating outside for drinks and food. All in all a very good establishment.

Top food small and cosy, my type of pub only gripe is could use more cider on the tap. Good prices too

This place will always be a firm favourite with me, lovely little pub on the edge of the country with a garden centre up the road and big open fields opposite if you fancy a stroll :) delicious hearty pub grub with real homemade chips!!

Not welcoming at all, when moored on canal went in to check if ok to come in with our dog, and was informed yes no problem in the bar area. Went back to our boat, got ready for an evening out and a pub meal with our dog at 5 o'clock we ordered and paid for drinks, asked about menu and food, she went off to check, and was told no dogs are allowed after 6pm and were unable to order food! So walked out leaving our paid drinks on the table, 'Don't leave drink your drinks' but why stay where your not welcome! Chalk board saying dog friendly, if muted! and doesn't bark! not actually sure when they are welcome! If crusing keep crusing past! Funny thing submitting my review using their WiFi in the car park.

Popped in whilst passing thinking too late to eat. Wasn’t, so ordered small meal from decent, varied menu ! Lord only knows what the large one was like!Fresh, hot, very tasty and very reasonably priced. Service was superb from Cheryl and Lisa. Atmosphere and ambiance superb. Would definitely re-visit. Mustn’t forget Mary the “quality” chef!

Cannot believe the negative reviews on here. This is the best pub in coventry. Best staff best service. Never had a bad meal here absolutely love it. Real chips, love the Cajun Chicken. 2 different size meLs on offer. Fantastic
