Beautiful location and decor. Food looks delicious. But, really really wish the cooked breakfasts were better; under-cooked for both of us on two occasions now (and somewhat slapped on the plate) so we will not order this again. While appreciating the aspirational up-market vibe and hoping it gets there, under-cooked breakfasts aside, the prices are way too high for the current offering. Reducing the cost of filled rolls would be a start. 2 stars for the food, 3 stars for the aesthetics, 1 star for the overall pricing.

We visited Dunoon for a Mon-Fri break, came across this coffee shop through a recommendation on tripadvisor and couldn’t have been happier with the place. So much so after a visit for lunch on Wednesday we came back for brunch on Friday (today) after checking out as it was so good. Very busy and lucky to get tables, great service, great food, brilliant find - all round delighted and will definitely visit again if in the area x

We stopped here to grab some ice cream but wish we had went elsewhere. The prices were ridiculous for 3 small ice-cream it was nearly £9, it was lovely equis ice cream but the service was awful. We waited almost 15 mins in a que, we were second in line, they were so slow, it took 15 mins just to serve the customer in front of us, all they asked for milkshakes and ice cream, there was no smile, no thank you, most ice creams were out of stock and they kept repeatly asking what we ordered. Doubt we will be back!

Now I’ve been a few times to The Boat House and it’s a lovely coffee shop with friendly staff and nice food but I was horrified today by the prices hence this review. We went in and looked at the menu. Nearly £16 for two coffees and two simple rolls and sausage! I know things are expensive for everyone but come on! We left without ordering.

Looks really nice but frustratingly bad service. We ordered coffee and cake from the kiosk and sat on the tables outside. Cake and coffee was very average for the price. My daughter then went into the cafe (trying to be independent) to order food. She was ignored by the staff for some time until another customer pointed out she had been waiting patiently at the counter. When I checked her bank card transaction she had been charge more than double. The staff did pay the difference back to us in cash but we couldn't help but go away from what looked like a great wee cafe disappointed.

Nice location, clean and tidy and good for coffee and cake. However we ordered nachos for two people which was really not enough for two and pretty poor standard and completely overpriced for what was served. Would recommend for coffee but not lunch.

Arrived on a wet and windy day; of us, one wheelchair user and was welcomed in and beautifully looked after. I opted to park the wet and smelly dogs outside (no one wants a soggy trouser leg!) and the ladies kept an eye on them for me. Food was perfect for a family with varying tastes.

After a pleasant walk along the promenade, the Boat House is a good spot to stop for a coffee or a light lunch. The food was freshly prepared and worth waiting for. The staff were engaging with everyone and good for visitor experiences available in the area.

We visited this lovely cafe on our recent visit to Scotland. The staff are so helpful and obliging and the location is right on the seafront. The refurbished loos are spotless and the ambiance very friendly. Most important the food is great and we enjoyed a local traditional “Scotch Pie”…… delicious. What a gem, we will definitely return if another holiday takes us to Dunoon.

Lunched there yesterday. Prices very expensive given the quality of the food. £6.50 for Ham Salad served with supermarket's cheapest processed Ham. Perhaps they should forego the strawberries and grapes and provide decent quality ham. At £3.70 for a breakfast roll again this is overpriced. Comparing prices and quality to other venues in Dunoon it's most expensive by far and quality of food lets it down. Disappointed and won't be back.

A good place to stop. We were out for a day tour round the peninsula. Needed lunch. Actually the best place to park is a public car park a few yards away. I had found this place on the internet, so was looking for it....

Was expecting great quality fresh food . But very disappointed . Looking forward to local mussels but off the menu . Scallops were fresh but the sauce let it down and the bread was stale and expensive . Both in the end had fish and chips , that was two very small pieces of fish each , couldn't hardly see any fish , most likely frozen due to the texture and appearance . Staff were excellent and beer was good

Met up with a friend for lunch today. ALWAYS reliably happy with our meals at The Esplanade over the many years.... But today's young chef was very astute with his skills. We had *Cullen skink, the baguette was fresh and warmed....so often it is not; (it's the little things like this that make you come back,), *fish n chips, and *incredibly chunky steak pie, with a lid rising up to the ceiling I'm my opinion all 3 meals really were the best examples on the island. Well done to: *The Esplanade for keeping up the standards of quality which bring people back * The Chef * The always friendly and helpful waitress 😁 (Love the new curtains and furnishings 😁)
