Had a couple of days staying nearby at Pateley Bridge so we drove over to Skipton and specifically to the Boat House . Ordered our usual and favourite Tiller Pin ale . Great pint in lovely surrounds next to the canal side. The staff are so friendly and obliging here . Ask for a new Tiller Pin beer mat and the lady returned with 6 for me. It’s hard nowadays to find a watering hole as nice as this one. Looking forward to visiting Skipton very soon .

Great pub, friendly staff and good selection of beers and spirits including non-alchoholic. Lovely views of canal basin. As boaters on the canal this is our favorite stop on the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

Lovely pub with great range of beers and good service. But be careful if you nip in for a pint. They won't accept card transactions of less than £5. Hope that might change soon!

What a gem of a watering hole the Boat House bar is. Called there and had a “Tiller Pin” beer. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. So relaxed sitting outside with our dog. Unbelievable cheap beer , had to ask if the price was right after just paying £1.20 a pint more for the most dreadful pint of Landlord around the corner at one of Timothy Taylor’s own pubs. Won’t be going there again. Going back again today to the Boat House at Skipton to sample their fine beers and atmosphere along with old Narrowboat owners 👍👍👍

We spent a couple of hours in this lovely bar overlooking the canal before getting the train. We had a great time . Lovely relaxed atmosphere everyone was super cahhtty and friendly.

Lovely bar with polite friendly service and good range. Nautical decor. Ideal place to visit if waiting for / considering one of the excellent local boat trips.

Good selection of ales at reasonable prices knowledgeable friendly staff and good mixture of clientel. Bonus is you can bring your own snacks and it is dog friendly too

We love this little pub, it's got a great selection of beers and an amazing atmosphere. I love watching the world go by when I'm sat outside. Staff are friendly and helpful.

It was busy and my husband ordered his pint and my lime and soda. After about a quarter of his pint we noticed pink lipstick on the glass, as he wasn't wearing any he took it back. They gave him a new glass and poured him a drink to exactly the amount he handed back.. How petty really and £6.20 a round. My lime and soda was warm and flat..so I just left it on the bar affer a mouthful. I've never been overly impressed with this establishment really and won't be back. Loads of pubs in Skipton to choose from.

Came with friends from Doncaster as part of Yorkshire Day celebrations. Great selection of beers on offer. Really enjoyed what I drank. Was a great location. Very relaxing drinking and watching the barges on the water. Would definitely come back.

Like many pubs these days the beer is rarely properly clear. In consequence it usually does not taste as good as it could (and occasionally does). On the other hand the location and, almost without exception, the staff and clientele are great

Best selection of beers in Skipton. Best location. No food. Proper pub. Small on the inside but loads of seating outside. Cant wait to go back. Very dog friendly.

Absolutely loved the Boat House if for nothing more than it's proximity to the canal so you can see the local swans and ducks doing their thing (in one case, two males ducks chasing two female ones in a duck equivalent of a double date)....

Always call here when in Skipton. This time we brought our friends. Lovely and quiet during the day which we like. Staff always have a chat when they can. Varied ale selection too.

The Boat House Bar in Skipton. Should you ever find yourself in Skipton Town get down to the Boat House Bar as its a great place to be. Real rainbows, real ales, real people, real staff, real log fire, real dog friendly and all by the real canal water side. What more could you really wish for?

Unfortunately I was driving, shame as good selection of ales on offer. Nether the less , a good pot of tea right on the edge of the canal. Sat a watched the barges to and frowing . Lovely spot to sit and relax.

Whilst visiting Skipton we popped down to the canal side and found The Boat House which we had a drink at.Enjoyed the seating provided for customers right by the towpath, watching the boats passing by.A good range of beers and drinks were available and whilst we didn’t have anything to eat there appeared to be plenty of people eating.Well signed areas and instruction for Covid 19 issues and overall a good venue in an ideal location

Came upon the bar by chance on a drizzly monday afternoon , good covid protection in place in the bar . very quick service and most importantly great pint of stout . if you find yourself near the freddie trueman statue pop in you will not be dissapointed many thanks

Went Monday PM. Coca Cola £1.95. All areas nice and clean. Sat outside and boat / people watched. Friendly pub patrons. Staff polite and efficient. First visit, I will go again. Next to canal. Hand sanitisers available. Nice traditional decor.

Was my first experience in a pub since they re opened and it put me at ease straight away tables spaced out track and trace in place all drinks were brought to your table on a tray good atmosphere very much worth a visit if you get sunshine spot on

Fabulous selection of top quality beers. The staff could not have been more attentive. Offered knowledgeable opinions about their beers and I was not disappointed. Every drink we had was spot on and as reccomendation. We will come back and tell our mates about it. Can't praise the staff highly enough.

It’s a lovely place to sit and have a drink near the canal, but it was ruined by the bar lady who kept having a cigarette in the outdoor seating area, right in front of the serving hatch where people are trying to get a drink. I wouldn’t mind if it was just one, but it was every 5 minutes! She didn’t was her hands after having a cigarette either. Awful, put us off and won’t be going back. Must mention that the manager lady seems really nice & helpful, she’s worked there for ages and clearly works hard. She is not the one who was smoking in front of all the customers.

Had a wander round Skipton and came across the Boat House Bar. We went in for a drink - the whole place is very well laid out in terms of social distancing. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. The place didn't serve food but this wasn't an issue. Nice place - hope we can go back next time we are in town.

Called in for a coffee when it started raining,The staff were pleasant and chatty,but unfortunately the coffee was luke warm when it arrived.I mentioned this and it was replaced,but that was just the same.Nice location,would be especially nice in good weather,with bench seats outside,overlooking the canal.

Excellent range of beer, very friendly atmosphere. Shame it doesn't do food, I would recommend simple pie, butties type food, nothing fancy. We were sorry to move on because we needed to eat.

The best hot chocolate I've had in years, a great canal side location and friendly staff. Plenty of real ale available for those into it including alcohol free options, but no alcohol free cider which was the only disappointment.

I saw this place from the opposite tow path and decided to find the way in. I didn't regret it. This place is the an ideal spot to have a drink and soak up the canalside atmosphere. It is very casual, welcoming and atmospheric. You certainly know you are in canal territory whilst there. It has great views from the inside and an outside terrace. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely to be recommended.

Popped in while waiting for a trip on a Canal boat. Only wanted 2 lime and lemonades. Cost a pound!!! Anywhere else would have been lot more. Smashing place to chill out next to the canal. Friendly staff . Loved it.

They do not serve food other than that from the bar...crisps and nuts etc. A goodly selection of beers and ales which you can drink, weather permitting, outside to watch the boats go by on the canal. The staff are exceptionally friendly and are willing to have a bit of banter with the punters. Well worth a visit.

Drinks only. Two visits over the glorious easter BH weekend. Really busy but like the way the owner/mgr doesnt scrimp on having enough staff (so you get served quick) all of whom were really friendly. It is run really well with a GREAT selection of beers. It is definitely a bit on the different side re most of the other pubs in town. Location helps by the canal. But its laid back too and had a down to earth feel. Liked it lots.

We were enjoying rare evening out in skipton and decided to try the boathouse . the beer was very good with plenty of choice more than our previous visit. We decided to sit ourselves outside it was a lovely evening when to our dismay the bar Person who was outside having a smoke walked over to the canal and disgarded a cigarette end in the canal. I think canal has enough pollution without people adding to it. sorry but we wont be going back

Great real ale and very friendly atmosphere. However, the added bonus was to sit outside and behold a murmuration of starlings - one of nature’s gifts.

This place is right on the canal in SKIPTON once again our group were not disappointed with the beers on offer . The staff were friendly and a warm welcome forthcoming . Will be really good in summer .

we had a couple of great pints here, and the staff were very nice to chat to and friendly, but it was lucky the weather was OK and we could sit outside. Call me old fashioned, but I hate standing and drinking, I want to sit and chat and enjoy a leisurely beer. As far as I could see there were less than a dozen seats inside. Great for the summer, sitting beside the canal and watching the world go by and enjoying one of their excellent beers. In the winter, probably I'll be going elsewhere

this a small and pleasant bar on the canal side. It has a selection of real ales that are of good quality. The premises are relatively small but in the summer I would imagine with the outside seating it would be packed.

With the windows open on a sunny day this place has a great situation right next to the canal basin and has the sun until late afternoon. Generally a good selection of beers but not always a variety of flavours as tends to major on hoppy beers in my experience.

We called at the boat house on a drizzly morning and was pleased to be able to sit outside at a table under the canopy with heaters and enjoy the view of the canal and narrow boats. We ordered a full English breakfast, which was excellent - it came out in good time and was piping hot as well as delicious. The coffee was very good too as was the service, so all in all a very good experience on a cold, damp morning!

I visited the Boathouse on Sunday. Staff recommended a really good pint to try - can definitely recommend the Tiller Pin, the recipe was created by staff members, so they obviously know what they’re doing. Would definitely recommend to any beer drinker visiting Skipton...

Fairly tatty looking venue but with an excellent location right on the canal bank beside the narrowboats. Called in for drink only, Young girls serving were friendly enough but seemed poorly trained and not very experienced I was disappointed with the ale I was served. Maybe it was near the end of the barrel, it just wasn't nice at all and went flat very quickly. Wouldn't rush back.

Whenever I go Skipton I always call in for a beer, always got some nice craft ales on tap, the staff are pleasant I've never had any food there as I just think it's a bit pricey with what's on offer. Overall a very nice setting.

A great pub with a really good choice of ales but on the day of our visit, the kitchen was closed for some reason, so could not comment on the food. Still an enjoyable visit, a very chatty and informed female bar person!

I usually call in for a glass or 2 of their perfect real ales but not first thing in the morning, so I had a fantastic bacon butty and a coffee instead. And, what a place to sit and enjoy too - you can't beat it! All the staff are friendly and accommodating and there's always a good atmosphere no matter what time of day. A 'must' place to visit when in Skipton, that's for sure!

Called in yesterday for a spot of lunch. The bar is in a perfect place to watch the Canal traffic. I ordered a Hot Roast Beed Sandwhich and a Bacon Sandwhich for my wife. To be honest, like the ladies behind us, I should have sent the food back and walked out. With my sandwich I got about 10 chips and my wife’s bacon was a pork scratching at best. I cannot recommend the Boathouse for food because when a member of staff asked how the food was and I mentioned my concerns..... he just said ... Yeah but they’re good chips. I just laughed because they where just normal oven chips.

Right on the canal at Skipton with lovely views out over the canal. Decorated like the inside of a narrow boat. A nice place for a drink.

This is in a good setting, right next to the canal, so you can sit and watch all the lovely barges coming and going. Had quite a good selection of beers and ciders, plus wines etc. Very busy as it was a lovely evening, but didn't have to wait long to be served. Staff friendly, and it looked OK inside to sit. Right in the centre of Skipton.

Popped in a couple of times for a few pints. A nice range of different, craft type ales. Nice location on the canal especially with the outside seating and can become quite busy on sunny days. Can't comment on the food.

Great little bar specialising in craft real ales and in a picturesque part of the town. The beer was perfect, the snacks delicious and the welcome all that you would want. Some of the reviews on here appear to be talking about a different place altogether - it's not a restaurant it's a BAR!

Called in for one on Saturday after being on a boat trip, the sun was shining, the gin and beer cold, the locals friendly, we left 3 hours later a little worse for while!

Just popped in for a pint while doing a walk around the downtown and canal pathways. Can't speak to their food, but the ale was cold.

Pity they only seem to serve citrusy beers. I would rather be able to have a proper traditional bitter, so don't go there as often as I would otherwise. Pity cos the place is good and the staff are pleasant.

The customer service was none existent and the food expensive over fried over cooked, the place was full of smoke fumes from the log burner won't be going again

"If Carlesberg did real ale bars..." The Boat House is probably the best 'real ale' venue in town; given its location; outlook; comfort; accessibility; friendly staff; almost completely 'al fresco' in Summer, and 'woodburner-cozy' in Winter.

A lovely lunch, steak pie with magnificent chips. Lasagne had good reviews too. Very friendly and welcoming. Good atmosphere and interesting views. Canal side and narrow boats.

Amazing food, served piping hot. Superbly fresh cooked meals which were truly scrumptious! Mixed meat starter with olives and patatas bravas, Proper Spanish Meatballs and Linguine (real meat not bulked with fillers). The sauce was lovely - just a little spice to warm you up! Followed by Churros and Chocolate Sauce. Good portion sizes and amazing value for money. The monthly theme nights are not to be missed !

Popped in here for lunch and some beers at lunchtime. The real ales were tip top and the food was amazing. I had duck and chorizo salad and my wife had chicken caesar salad. We shared sweet potato fries and chips. Eating, drinking and watching the world go by on the canal was superb and relaxing. The food was excellent. It kept us full all day long. A really nice experience, and they serve until 5:00. Brilliant! Really enjoyed it here.

One of pubs I'd not been too before now , will I go again Probably not ....Great location but no larger on tap ! Unfortunately I'd not heard of the bottle ones on offer and the one I went for ( £8.00 for two !!! ) didn't go down well , but at that price me and my friend weren't going to leave it .. but in truth, wish I had !

we took our grandson for a bit of lunch here before a boat trip, we ordered scampi and chip and a children's meal the food was freshly prepared and served quickly.we sat in one of the window tables with a great view of the canal and all the boats, service was very good and nothing was too much trouble. we will definitely be back very enjoyable meal with good service and great views

Great location, great food, fantastic selection of drinks and a lovely warm atmosphere. Really friendly staff and a proper real feel to it. Especially nice on a summers evening when the sun is setting over the canal basin! Would highly recommend The Boat House!
