Nice building. Ambushed by a rude man upon arrival who gave us keys and told us to be at breakfast by 8.30am (Sunday) as thats when they switch fryers off. Whole place stinks of fat and dogs. Door handle to room broken, wooden platform, mattress springs knackered, road noise, a squeeze to get in the shower, no juice at breakfast, but the breakfast is the best part. An ok British breakfast- no other option offered, no jams and butter is flora. The lady at breakfast is far nicer than the young man and the older man who ignores you and rolls his eyes as he walks. Giving two stars as it is cheap compared to other places, perhaps we got the worst room, but will not return to find out

The room was very old fashioned with a broken window and noise coming through View straight into the room from double decker bus outside and anyone looking up so had to have the shade down. It was very hot during my stay and I wanted to open the window without the view Shower tray did not drain after shower Room was not cleaned for the entire stay at all totally disgusting No vegetarian sausages for the duration of my stay even though I requested them. According to the person in charge they could not get any. Come on this was terrible excuse. I also asked for poached eggs and they could not do them. How can a chef not boil water add some vinegar and cook eggs. Absolute garbage. So I ended up paying for a full breakfast to get 2 fried eggs some beans and a hash brown. On the final morning of my stay I could not get any beakfast at all due to staff shortages and was offered a mile trip up the road in the opposite direction in busy traffic due to road works to get a breakfast with no guarantes of the correct sausages. Of course I had to refuse to ensure I got to my appointment on time. Of course there was no offer of a part refund even though I had to leave on an empty stomach. According to the person I presumed was the owner. This was not her fault. Not mines either. Utter garbage service. There was also not enough shower gel in the room for a 4 night stay. The room was booked for 2 for 4 nights and there was 2 small bottles lasting a shower each. As it was hot I showered twice a day. When I requested more I was treated like a thief stealing. I will without doubt NEVER EVER stay there again and would advise all travellers to avoid this B and B at all costs.

I popped in for a quick drink and snack with my friend. I was greeted by a young man who lacked the word excuse me in his vocabulary and instead asked me to "Get out of the way" as he showed someone to the disabled toilet (The customer was not disabled) as it is a one in one out system due to corona and the main toilet had someone in it already. I did not realise I was standing outside of the disabled toilet and like I said a simple excuse me would have been more professional. First impressions RUDE! We ordered some Triple cooked chips to share, they were the whitest triple cooked chips I've ever seen and not very well cooked. The small bowl of chips with a nasty looking bad one sticking out was not appealing to the eye on presentation. If they can mess up a a bowl of chips this much I won't bother going for a main meal. Also the size of the bowl was very small and at the cost of £2.99 definitely not worth it. On the plus side the views are nice.

As usual we are always last minute mainly because of the British weather so this place was one of very few available for a sunny weekend away. Upon arriving in Sutton Bridge it was fair to say we were underwhelmed. The town has lots of boarded up buildings which is why we drove past The Boathouse 3 times before we spotted it next door and at the end of the street are two derelict buildings! Which is why we sat in the car for a long time deliberately whether to even check in and not just drive off. Upon entering to check in the dining room smelt damp and fusty and upon being shown to our room “a premium suite” we started to planned to stay here just for the night and go out in the evening to plane our escape. There are not any nice pubs or restaurants near by and nowhere to walk to. The much regarded full English breakfast whicheds praised by some on this site, I think they are people impressed by quantity not quality nasty pasty sausages and concentrated orange juice. THE PROBLEM IS WE BOOKED THROUGH BOOKING.COM THEIR T & C’s state you have to pay the full amount regardless (so why do the owners need to make any effort) which they clearly don’t . We had booked for 3 nights and left after 1 no offer of any reimbursement was made, the manageress didn’t even flinch when we said we are leaving. I can only assume this happens a lot. An expensive mistake this B and B parades itself as a tourist destination it should really be honest and tell it like it is, it’s a B and B for workmen working away from home who just appreciate cheap rates, a big breakfast and a bed to sleep in. Nice things like having a toilet roll holder on the bathroom wall really wouldn’t bother them, we thought this when we saw the high vis vests hanging on the door handles of the bedrooms. NEVER AGAIN

My stay at the boat house was the most horrible experience that I have ever had. The room we where given was filthy, had dust everywhere, and mould growing on the bottoms of the walls. The bed sheets where clearly not washed properly because they had stains on. The bathroom at the boat house was disgusting. The rubbish bin had not been emptied. There was spiders and bugs everywhere. And the toilets needed a good bleach and scrub. My partner was horrified to see maggots and cockroaches under the bed. And mouldy food that a previous guest had left there. There was a constant smell of weed while we stayed there, definitely coming from inside the building even tho there was no other guests when we arrived there. I would not recommend for anyone to stay here. Worst experience of my life.

Although I previously had commented on the restaurant a few months ago I decided to go back as my daughter had booked for us to dine for my birthday. The food was good, the staff were attentive and friendly. This time we were asked if we had registered our cars for non payment of parking and there were plenty of signs reminding people. Well it was good to see that Louis and his team had taken the complaining seriously.

We stayed here for three nights and found it to be a really good experience which we hope to repeat! The room was extremely uncomfortable especially the queen size bed and natural pillows. We’ve stayed at many other 4 star accommodations which haven’t come up to the standard of The Boat House. Tracey the manager couldn’t have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. The breakfast was just great as we could have had anything at all we wanted. Our little dog also received pork sausages for her breakfast which was an added bonus. Well done The Boat House!

THe Boat house fitted the bill, I am not one to complain or nit pick but after ordering a medium rare Rib Eye steak the chef popped out and said he had a bigger rib eye steak only for a couple of extra pounds, so I agreed to this . WHat came out was a rump steak... well done... hmm. I checked the bill and the had charged me for a rib eye.. When will chefs realise that good customers will know the difference... Apart from that the waitress was top notch and the decor is very pleasant.

We visited on 22nd September and while disappointed with the menu choice and the fact that there were 3 dishes that they couldn't do as well we opted for a burger with "Hand cut chips". Looking forward to this as most places serve frozen chips we were extremely disappointed to find that they were not hand cut chips but just a cheap supermarket bag of frozen chips. In addition they were not cooked long enough leaving some soggy, we also got three onion rings which were extremely greasy. We did try to eat the food but after a few bites it was evident that the burger was poor and undercooked which combined with frozen chips and greasy onion rings decided it was unacceptable and complained so our plates were taken away.We finished our drinks and went to pay for them but not the meal however we were told I'll call the chef (her husband) who gave such a load of waffle that he couldn't get hold of any potatoes so that was why we had frozen chips wouldn't accept that the burger was undercooked and because we'd eaten what he judged what half a meal each that he would only charge for one meal ! I told him that I'd gladly return if he didn't charge for either meal but if he insisted on charging that we'd never return and he'd lose us as customers. Surprisingly he decided that £8.50 was more important than retaining customers . DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE THE MENU IS A CON< FOOD IS POOR AND THEY DO NOT VALUE YOUR CUSTOM. NEVER AGAIN !

Me, my partner and daughter went to this place for what was supposed to be a nice Sunday carvery lunch on the 22nd March 2015 at 2.45pm. Upon arrival we were left standing at the bar until a young girl came to seat us and took our drinks order. How difficult can it be to get your guests an orange juice with ice, a pint of lager shandy and a fizzy water with lime and a straw. Well obviously for some it is as the orange juice had no ice, the fizzy water no straw and she had to ask my partner again 'what drink did you want'!. Well this was obviously the start of things to come. So never having been to this place before we sat down at our table and waited....and waited.....and waited...until after about 20minutes we asked an older woman what we were waiting for? She stated that they were just waiting for fresh veg to come out from the kitchen. OK fair enough. So we waited...and then a group of 5 people got their lunch and then a couple sitting behind us were called up to the carvery by the female cook who was moaning that she was harassed. I thought to myself, hang on here this is like getting called up for school dinners! So the female cook, knowing we are waiting started having a chat with the female customer. A young lad then came over to us and said 'sorry for the wait you can have a free pudding'!. WELL THANKS ! So the cook chatted...and she chatted...and she chatted.....and she chatted, totally ignoring the fact that we were still waiting to get our lunch...by now its 3.20pm. In exasperation I slammed my glass down on the table which made the cook jump and look my way. We then asked for the drinks bill, (which was waived) and we got up and left, NEVER TO RETURN TO THIS GOD FORSAKEN JOKE OF A SO CALLED RESTAURANT THAT HAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER.

My wife, three children and I dined here on Mothers Day. We were met with a warm welcome by the hostess who seated us. With the restaurant being so small, we were called up to the carvery table in the order we arrived which is a good idea. The food was to die for!!! Everything was cooked to perfection (except the cauliflower cheese, it was crunchy and should have been boiled before baked) other than that, you had a choice of four perfectly cooked beef, turkey, pork or gammon. The roasties were crisp on the outside and like mash in the middle....perfect. The chef Sue has been doing this for over 20 years so you cannot go wrong. Like I said, the meal was perfect but upon receiving the drinks, our Pepsi seemed a bit watered down . I brought this to the attention of the hostess and she said that they were having trouble with the mixture in the pump. Now, I think this should have been addressed before being brought to the table. This pint of "Pepsi" tasted like the Asda cola you get for 17p per 2 litre and my wife and I still had to pay £2.60 per pint for it. And about the seating area.... very clean and seats are very comfortable BUT extremely close together. When it is your turn to hit the carvery table, stack your plate high to avoid squeezing in between chairs or asking someone to stand. It was £8.95 for and adult carvery and £6.95 for the kids

We visited The Boathouse today on our way home during a 4 hour journey. The manager Amanda allowed us a table even though they were fully booked and when it came to the booking coming in the restaurant she kindly found them another table so that we didn't have to rush. We went in with our 2yo son and our 12 week old baby. They have high hairs if needed and I breast fed our baby without any problems. We were also allowed an extra plate for our 2yo which was brilliant as he can be very fussy. The carvery was the best we've had and everything was home cooked really nicely. You could tell the gravy was made the 'proper' way. The only comments I would have is that it was a little pricey and Yorkshire puddings were a bit stodgy. Other than that it was excellent. We had a pot of tea too which was huge and delicious. We will definitely stop here again and recommend the place to our family who do the same journey. The manager Amanda cannot do enough for you which totally enhances the visit - roll on April! Thanks again for looking after us :-)

Having visited the Boathouse in Sutton Bridge this Valentine's weekend twice but visited every Sunday for the carvery for the past 6 months, I have nothing but very high praise for not only the very pleasant and helpful staff, but the excellence of the food. A fabulous choice of menu for Saturday night (Valentine's night) but yet again a stunning Sunday carvery at lunchtime, on Sunday's, which is operated every weekend. If you have a disability of any description they willingly help you with getting your lunch and taking you to your table. If you visit during the week for lunch there is a very extensive lunch menu and every effort is made to take account of special dietary needs, if you let Sue or one of her splendid staff know, in advance. I would recommend pre-booking for the Sunday carvery, so as not to be disappointed.

Just had another Sunday lunch at the Boathouse and can recommend it unreservedly. Group of eight met there, all 50's plus age group, and everyone agreed it was a really good meal at a very reasonable price. Nice surroundings and cheerful, helpful staff. The old fire surrounds are an unusual and appealing feature, but the decore all over is good. Food portions now self service from a carvery style serving area. First time they were newly open and it was individual generous portions. Traditional Sunday lunch meat and vegetables, but vegetarian option also. Really good value. The only reason I have marked it as a 4 instead of 5 and it really is a bit mean, is that they ran out of Yorkshire Puddings, but did bring them around and offered them to us when ready. Very good service and as I say that comment seems a bit mean to me, but no where is perfect. Good clean toilet facilities as well.

Lovely old pub with amazingly low prices which compare with what we had in 1990's around London. Great beers and even Mild which can rarely be seen anywhere in the south. Wine very limited , Red, White or Rose, spirits all by the brewery but fine under half the price of the south and a lovely atmosphere.
