Great spot for a first date. It serves a great range of wine and cocktails and is comfy but not oppressive - you can either mingle with friendly locals or others on equally romantic missions or you can snuggle up in a quiet corner and soak in the nice, friendly atmosphere. Jukebox has a range of decent tunes to enjoy as well - we went in for one and stayed until close. Reasonably priced as well - particularly for a city centre pub with a premium offering.

Me and the girls went here after The White Cross, seeking a more affordable quaff. The pub was very busy for a Tuesday afternoon and our Carlings were served with a flourish from the barman. We got in conversation with some of the regulars there who were really friendly and showed us how to play pool - particularly the angles when bending over the table and the best grip on their shaft. We stayed for 6 drinks in total, which was less then £20 A fantastic pub

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town when we chanced upon The Boars Head Pub and what a great find. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, the interior is superb,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings ,tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub,all in all a very cosy pub indeed. We were here on a Wednesday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere ,we ordered a lager each, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling ,we just kicked back and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. I must say the beer served here was good,we chose a carling lager ,so thirst quenching,it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying an iced cold beer. We moved on after our beers, only stayed for the one each before we moved on and for a first time visit we were totally impressed with this pub. The Boars Head Pub is easy to locate along North John Street,a wonderful pub, most certainly well worth checking out if your in the area.

It was our first visit to the quarterhouse, having heard good feedback from friends we went for my birthday. We got a lovely table in the window, the selection of cocktails was amazing for the size of the restaurant, we only tried 3 but my favourite was the cheeky chai martini. We ordered 5 dishes between us, lamb koftas, monkfish, hot honey & garlic French toast, watermelon, and pressed chips. Everything was really fresh and tasty with lots of healthy ingredients, too. The service was fairly quick (didn't expect food to be served as soon as it was, which was a pleasant surprise) We did finish with one dessert between us, lemon tart. There was nothing that disappointed us. The flavours and colours were so vibrant and delicious. It isn't a cheap night out, but due to the quality of the ingredients and the expertise of the chef, bar staff it was worth every penny. Thank you.

First time at this excellent and very friendly chippie - won't be the last! One of the owners' relatives has coeliac disease so they really understand the need for careful management of gluten-free food. The GF batter on the fish was amazing, thin and crispy and not greasy at all. The portions were generous, the fish seemed perfectly fresh, and the price was very reasonable. I don't know what more you could ask from a neighbourhood chippie.

Lovely traditional pub, friendly staff and lovely food. There’s a lovely big beer garden at the back of the pub and a car park. Prices are very reasonable and the menu is good - varied with plenty of vegetarian options, the portion sizes are very generous, we would definitely recommend it.
