The Boardwalk in Eastbourne

My husband and I often have our morning coffee here and always find the coffee to be great and the staff to be really lovely. We certainly do not recognise them as being anything other than helpful.

Visited at end of lockdown. Husband entered without mask as he is exempt. Female behind bar challenged this and was generally very rude and aggressive. I see this has happened to other people. The coffee was horrible too.. Strongly recommend avoidance - mask or no mask.

This is a nice little licensed cafe built into the seafront walls at Eastbourne. We had a nice drink here and we sat at a table on their boardwalk terrace just opposite the cafe, adjacent to the beach. Great views of the pier and out to sea, fine as long as the weather is fair.

I met with a lady behind the counter and she asked me for a face mask I kindly replied that I was exempt. She immediately raised her eyes to the sky and said you need a mask. I replied that I had a health condition with which I felt exceptionally uncomfortable in stating. She was rude and unapologetic and so I showed her my Exemption Card. She was still unimpressed and then I told her that such behaviour was a complete disagrace. I asked for the manager then the owner and she only offered that I should visit a website to find the Limited company details. I pushed further for a number and I have been given a mobile and landline which both do not work. So if the owner of Broadwalk Cafe would like to contact me to discuss I would appreciate it. I took photos of the staff member.

Since this second shutdown I have been visiting Eastbourne regularly for my daily exercise. It was such a wonderful treat to find this wonderful takeaway cafe that served a great variety of coffees, sandwiches, hot pies and great cakes. Just sitting on the wall outside taking in the sea view with my coffee and snack has kept me sane through this ghastly time. Thank you to The Boardwalk for helping so many people remain upbeat and for all your hard work in making this possible.

Stopped here for tea and sandwich while having a stroll along the seafront. We recommend the mushroom sausage rolls (labelled as Vegan sausage rolls) as a nice alternative to a normal sausage roll. I'm nowhere near being vegetarian let alone vegan, but they make a nice alternative and we absolutely love it! We felt the mushroom filling inside the roll was not as much we expected and I’m not giving them 4 stars as overall it was appealing for us. We sat on the patio at their front but beware not your food being stolen by the seagulls, there are a lot of them flying around. Staff were nice and you can pay by card, which makes a nice change from a lot of smaller businesses who inexplicably turn away if a particular amount of purchase not being done. Appreciated

Me detuve aquí hoy para tomar un café que iba a tener algo caliente, pero el costo de una empanada era de 3. 95, que creo que es un poco caro, el café que tuve fue genial, muy buenas vistas mirando al mar, el lugar estaba limpio y ordenado se sorprendió al ver perros caminando dentro del café, ya que hay comida servida, había un Labrador dorado dentro y el lugar parece tener clientes habituales en ningún momento, el personal de hoy le dijo a la persona con el perro que llevara al perro fuera de la excelente ubicación para el café. Volveré sí para tomar un café para comer sin precios. Creo que son un poco caros. amor señor descarado en Kent

Bonita cafetería frente al mar. Alimentos y aperitivos limitados un poco caros. El café es bueno, pero no me gusta tener que usar tazas reutilizables tan a menudo, debe haber una razón para ello, pero no sé por qué. Algunos empleados sonríen y son muy amables, otros no lo son tanto. Sin embargo, parece atraer a una clientela regular y muchos asientos disponibles afuera en la playa y el baile de graduación, con algunas mesas adentro. Sin embargo, desearía que ofrecieran sillas más cómodas como lo hacen los cafés vecinos.

Visito aquí cada vez que visito Eastbourne y esta vez tomé una copa de vino al atardecer con un amigo y luego café y pain au Chocolat con mi hermana. Es genial estar tan cerca del mar y tener una comida y bebida de gran calidad. El servicio también es bueno.

Fuimos a tomar un café y un pastel frente a la playa, me sorprendió mucho que me dieran platos de papel y plástico de un solo uso. Era un día ventoso y los platos y utensilios de plástico eran difíciles de agarrar.Por el dinero, ya que estos lugares no son los más baratos según la ubicación, los cubiertos y platos adecuados no solo reducirían el desperdicio y la posible basura arrastrada por una ráfaga de viento insospechada, sino que se habrían sentido un poco más agradables. . .Los pasteles estaban bien y café también.Impresionante ubicación con zona de asientos de madera del paseo marítimo. perros permitidos

Went here with the family for a drink and some lunch. We all got paninis. There was no side salad or crisps. Just a basic panini on a polystyrene plate for £5. £20 for four paninis is a bit much. Probably won’t return. There are nicer places further up the beach.

The food and drinks are lovely and the staff so helpful and polite. Good for an early coffee and a stroll along the prom.

Morning coffee by the beach, a perfect spot. Coffee was good and a fine selection of cakes, pies and pastries. spent a relaxing half hour with coffee and apple pie, people watching on the prom. a must visit when the weather allows.

Well worth a visit. beachside location. Excellent coffee and cake. Efficient service friendly staff I will definitely return

Was here today with my grandkids. Nice little pit stop during our walk. They have a lovely range of ice cream flavours so we had mint choc, lemon and strawberry. Nice big ones for 2.20, recommended!

Definitely recommend this place for a quick stop off to have a coffee and pastry, the pastries are so fresh and taste so amazing, we even went back for seconds! As well as sitting on the seaside, enjoying the sea view.

It’s a cafe, serving run of the mill, but it was good hot coffee and fresh and tasty rolls. Great to be able to sit outside in the sun. Would visit again.

Can only agree that the service is appalling: rude and slow. Definitely Eastern European Customer Service, talking from experience. Wonderful location when the weather is good to catch the sun and enjoy the atmosphere along Eastbourne promenade.

My parents and I had a lovely visit to the boardwalk yesterday after a short dog walk. We all had a hot drink and bacon rolls. The rolls were delicious and the bread was warm which was a nice touch. It’s dog-friendly and the staff are very pleasant.

We visited Eastbourne for a 2 weeks holiday,and i never ever been a place like this so amazing!

We stopped here while walking along the seafront and had ice creams. The guy who served us was very friendly and helpful and the ice cream was very good.

The rudest staff in Sussex. The two ‘ladies’ lack....a basic level of manners.Soviet era orphans with accordingly low respect for others. Soulless individuals. Shameful behaviour....find somewhere nicer, where you will be treated with basic respect....

My favourite place for morning coffee. Open 7:30 am when everywhere else is shut.

Nice location and busy. Outside decking on beach has a good view of pier and good for people watching. Wide range of drinks sold. No effort made to clear tables or empty overflowing bins, which meant litter blowing onto beach. Tables and chairs a bit rickety and some taken by folk with no purchases from cafe. Move them along please! It's also a haven for dog owners, as there's not many stopping points with seats along the front. So expect dogs at adjacent tables to bark at each other to spoil the sound of waves lapping the shore.

I love the Boardwalk Cafe. I visited nearly every day during the Summer whilst staying in Terminus Road, and looking for a property to buy. There are a great selection of cold drinks, teas, coffees, snacks, sandwiches, pastries, and alcoholic beverages too! Although I don't often drink alcohol on the beach (as it makes me nod off in the sun), Jonathan, the Cafe Manager makes a wicked Pimm's! There are plenty of seats outside on the decking which is right on the beach. In the Summer it is very busy, but the staff are friendly and fast! Erica, Katie and all the team always give me a friendly welcome. Although I have bought a property in Pevensey Bay, I will definitely keep returning to the Boardwalk Cafe. By the way, Eastbourne Pier is a stone's throw away, as is Terminus Road with all the shops etc. Thoroughly recommend.

As a fairly new resident of Eastbourne I'm possibly a little biased, but I have developed a soft spot for this place. It's not just the venue, situated as it is on the seafront I've witnessed some beautiful mornings whilst drinking tea or the hot chocolate (both are fine). It's also the staff, who are always friendly towards me when I'm out for my morning runs. This is a good, friendly, local cafe, and I'm proud to support it.

Really good coffee, but sold me yesterdays cake (if not older, according to its chewing gum cosistency) for the full price, which is rather high for supermarket-cake anyway.

It was a beautiful day, my boyfriend and I decided to go for a quick, the prices were reasonable for drinks. The service speedy, nice staff. They only problem were annoying wasps, but can't help that.

If you want a wonderful coffee, with sea views and a relaxed atmosphere, then this is the place for you. The staff aren't the friendliest at times, which is a real shame as this place could be amazing!

Came down nearly every day in the heat, strolling along the seafront, enjoying the seafront markets, and the weather heatwave. This cafe always had seating, great coffee and the cleanest toilet with Hand wash paper and dryer, always! Thank you! Our new go to place.

Lovely venue spoilt by a rude member of staff. Miserable to all customers and especially rude to us.

Went for a morning coffee and something to eat. Asked for an iced coffee and was told they didn't do it yet. When asked if they would do it later or not all, I didn't get an answer by the person serving, but was later told by somebody else there was no ice. Also wanted to order a plain croissant, and was told there were only almond ones left, but saw that there were croissant ready to go in the oven..... It is a shame that staff are not interested in their customers as it is a fabulous location

This cafe is a little gem in my mind. While I am in Eastbourne, I pop along almost every day. I just have a Coca-Cola, and enjoy sitting out on the decking looking out at the sea. Most days there is usually a lovely sea breeze, which is very welcome in the current heatwave! It feels as if I am on the beach! Most people in the Cafe are drinking beer, wine and cider, so there is a great selection of drinks. I just avoid alcohol in the heat, but good on people who can enjoy it! I would definitely recommend.

Very rude staff sat down seagull stole my cake and knocked over my coffee staff refused to replace even the coffee !! I will not return

Great place to catch the early morning sun and enjoy a delicious coffee and croissant. One of my must visit places when in Eastbourne.

Had a fantastic day in Eastbourne and a great stroll along it's beautiful beach. Stumbled across this establishment, and thought we'd have an ice cream (it was the first summers day of the year, good old england)

What i like about the Boardwalk is the early opening time great bacon rolls and very friendly staff. Very relaxing way to start the day wether you are working, walking the dog, or just walking on the seafront, none of the other coffee shop's on the seafront open till much later and are missing out

Right on the promenade this is an ideal watering hole for strollers. It is quite cramped, unless you sit outside, but warm, wind proof and cosy. The coffee is very good and the croissants fresh being cooked onsite although I suspect from frozen. A safe place for a rest.

Visited this not cheap establishment whilst we were enjoying an autumn walk along the seafront. It was a cold day. Hot chocolate and cappuccino were lukewarm and mainly frothy. These should be piping hot to enjoy whilst sat out. We appreciate people may steal crockery however, it would have been nice to have our sandwich and cake on decent plates (not paper) which my husband did not have to retrieve from the beach as they blew off the table in the very light breeze. In addition the man making the drinks was observed coming out smoking his ecigarette and then serving people having not washed his hands. Very disappointing visit.

Set on lower promanade with seating on a decking on the beach. Ideal place for a coffee or a light lunch. There is also an ice cream stall with lots of flavours.

The Boardwalk seems to have more than one location so to be clear I am writing about the cafe, not the adjacent pizza servery. This prom-level site is a bustling place with indoor, promenade and decked seating, right at sea level. We went there three days running for elevenses. A wide range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pastries, cakes and so on. Speedy and attentive service, good prices and an ideal location make this an excellent place to sit and watch the world and its dogs go by. The staff go out of their way to make sure that everyone has what they need, all the tables are kept clean and tidy, and folk with disabilities are given helpful support if needed.

Four of us had coffee here on Sunday morrning 11/09/17. The coffee was excellent and there was a lovely selection of cakes.

By far the best coffee of this trip, so nice I had two ☺️ fantastic location, staff are not over friendly but efficient and make great coffee and I'd rather have it that way than some of the God awful coffee I had in Hastings and Bexhill.

Die Terasse eignet sich super, um direkt am Strand einen leckeren Cafe zu trinken. Leider waren die Toiletten nicht in Betrieb und der Cappucino wurde beim zweiten Besuch auch auf Nachfrage nur in To-Go Bechern serviert, was beim ersten Besuch noch anders war..

Went to the Boardwalk today for lunch. They only serve pizza and pannini, so selected a pizza only to be told there was something wrong with the pizza oven, so no pizza. Chose pannini.Tried to pay by card and told the card machine wasn't working. Two young girls on their own there, obviously not coping. Several people also had just got up and left without their food because of fed up with waiting. Would not go there again.

On holiday in Eastbourne and called in for a coffee. The person serving walked away when it was my turn to be served and eventually came back. Took the order and was talking to another member of staff and at the same time stuck her arm out with her back to me in my direction with the change. Poor customer service is not a good advert. I will certainly not go back even though the coffee was good.

Just stopped for a spot of lunch and had to write a review, the pizza was beyond amazing!!!.....and the staff were so lovely and friendly too. 😊

Visited a glorious Eastbourne today. Went to what was my favourite place for coffee. The location is still great but the Latte was not up to standard it was Boiling Hot which burnt my tongue and not the usual creamy texture but was too strong. Also bring back the Mugs instead of the cardboard Coffee cups, We also had a Danish which was good.

My regular pitstop for coffee before work. Open at 7:30 am on the seafront. Lovely staff. Good coffee. Cakes look good but I haven't tried them. Instead I grab my coffee and walk to Holywell and back... which isn't open at 7:30am!

It was an amazing crisp fresh clear morning in December, the sun was coming up, the sky was crystal clear blue and the perfect place to watch this spectacle and have a refreshing brew and lovely fresh danish was The Boardwalk

Beautiful location but perhaps we went when the coffee wasn't at its best. Plenty of other places in Eastbourne that serve consistently good coffee so we shall not be returning to the Boardwalk in a hurry.

If you want to chill out with a great coffee and a brilliant view, with lovely staff, then look no further than the Boardwalk. situated right on the beach.

This café is well-located for everybody who wants to have beautiful view on the sea, with double espresso in hand and his loved ones around.

Whe only stopped here for a drink but scanned the menu out of curiosity. Prices seemed to be fine for what was offered and the service was friendly and quick with seating overlooking the beach. One draw back, not possible to have wine with your meal as the place isn't licensed, I realised this when my Beck's beer was "alkohol-frei beir", enjoyable non the less!

This café/restaurant is located within minutes of the pier and is virtually on the beach with exterior seating areas.
