We are aware it’s not Michelin star, though disappointed to be served warm beans, overdone Hash browns and eggs that looked as if someone had played football with after cooking!!!!

Not great the breakfast muffin gave me food poisoning!

Sorry to say but I've been to far better weatherspoons and I don't rate this place at all. You never expect food to be great in these places and they certainly lived up to that expectation. The facilities (toilets) in here seem to be from the dark ages , come on spend a bit of money and get this place sorted.

Went here today as an away supporter visiting for the football match. Decent pub and atmosphere but the staff were constantly over run with frustrated customers. Bad move by the management not having enough staff on good Friday with the expectation of being busy with football supporters. Even though it took me 25 minutes to get served those ladies serving under such hostile pressure deserve a bonus, you could see the strain on them but they kept going. Especially Lauren B.. she served me and was highly professional in handling situations and at times going looking for customers who's card payments didn't go through. Credit were credit is due for the staff.. Poor decisions by the management.

Stopping in the area for a couple of days, so went here twice for lunch. Very nice food, staff seemed pleasant. Loved the allergen electronic menu, so easy to use and more useful than places that hand you a book to go through. Only negative is the staff on ordering food don't ask if anyone has any allergies as this is a must as they are supposed to implement it on their system when putting through food order.. I have Coeliac Disease, I had checked allergy menu so new what was safe. But it should be put in on their system to alert the kitchen chef to make sure they are careful of preparing the meal for that allergy.

had a great meal here, staff were friendly, very nice atmosphere, great place! Definitely recommend the fish and chips.

Standard Wetherspoons pub though not as big as many. Busy on football match day

Went today for my birthday meal with 4 family members, we all had different meals panini, all day breakfast, soup & 2 jacket potatoes on table 6, I was disappointed with the filling of cheese & beans there was about 5 beans no butter it was so dry … I wish we’d gone to big smoke where I would have got my meal for free!

Always a great place to drink and eat cheaply. Food has always been good though sadly at the moment the food menu has far less items than on it. . The only moan I have is that it still needs a bloody good brighter paint job. (Updated Feb 2025)

Can't beat a full brekky in a morning.

Some idiot decided to have a go, and claimed there was a queue ( non existent) and apparently he knew what I can see too which is interesting. But then while I understand the barman said what he said I did say to the idiot in question ok mate calm down no need to get extra. But the barman had a go at both of us and when I tried to explain it wasn't me that was getting all extra or anything he wasn't listening. I appreciate he wanted to keep the peace. But I think he needs to understand that listening is an integral part of bar work. I'm not sure they will care but I won't be in an hurry to return anytime soon. Oh the young lass who served me was nice and pleasant

TBH we had a drink and bbq burger food was ok for monies only issue we were on the first floor was warm when we walked in then heating blowing cold air told a member of staff who said to warm bar area but that did not help us as was very cold shame cheap cheerful place plates quickly cleared which is another positive

The foods usually good in here, never really had a bad meal. Don't know what's happened!! Been twice in the last couple of weeks & the food & presentation was shocking on four different meals . Dry burger , dry mushy peas clogged together, bacon thin & crozzled , very little chips that were cold . The staff seem to have lost interest all stood chatting . Very disappointing!!

Busy due to match day, but good food and great service. Very generous portions on the 3 small plates. Nice busy atmosphere.

Had one of their new dishes. Ramen bowl with chicken added as an extra. Didn't think it would be very big bowl so ordered small chips. The bowl was huge and had loads of stuff in it just like the description. Lovely broth, bit spicey on the first taste has a little kick. Was stuffed to the gills. It was delicious. Definatley going to have them again. Would have been great with crusty baggett with garlic. Would recommend it.👍

Good selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. Decided to eat there for my wife's birthday after a trip to York. We both had the mixed grill and a drink for only £6.99. Mistake. Although very well priced, everything was completely overcooked and dry. Never again.

The food was nice. Staff has been picky asking people to put their shirts back on sat in beer garden on a very warm day theh was doing no harm.

Handy spot for breakfast, we usually pop in on a weekend. I drink real ale generally well kept. Over all very much the average Wetherspoons experience, given what you pay good value.

The staff made sure I was safe when I was grabbed. They looked out for me and were supportive and very kind even before I could say anything. Thank you Rebecca, another manager which I can't remember the name of as well as the staff member.

Staff are mardy and a few need some customer service training!

cheap and just what i needed to help with the hangover service was quick and food was ok if a little cold unlimited coffee was a definite plus nothing special but there wasnt much competition as most of Rotherham appears to be closed on Sunday morning

Nice spoons in town, quiet, nice foods as always from a spoons, very clean, toilets upstairs, plenty of seating, beer garden.

Was a wonderful sunny day so we decided to take a walk to here and grab a bite to eat . Was not too busy for the weekend and didn't take long to be served at the bar. We ordered some drinks and 2 mixed grills ,the staff was very friendly and helpful. The mixed grill was on offer and got so much for your money all was cooked perfect. We will surely be coming again if in the area it was relaxed and everyone was having a laugh and a good time.

I visited Rotherham for no other reason than it’s there. As you do. Rotherham is famous for being the home of The Chuckle Brothers and the river Rother. And some Ham. The Bluecoat was the home of the Blue Coat charity School, imaginatively named after the school uniform. After 1547, the charitable work of the school was taken over by the ‘Feoffees of the Common Lands of Rotherham’. Nobody at that time knew what in God’s name a ‘Feoffee’ was. And so, it was decreed a short time later that Wetherspoons would take over the building. And it came to pass, some 450 years after the event, that said take over occurred. And still not one person knew what a Feoffee was/is. Lunch in the Bluecoat on a Friday afternoon was a pleasant affair. The pub was bustling without being too busy. Not ‘busty’ as I originally and mistakenly typed. Though a few examples of that phenomena were on show. Proudly. A curry, a burger and some chicken trips were the order of the day. You can’t really go wrong with that order, though you’d be surprised. A poppadum greasier than a teenager’s face often arrives. As does curry with an oil slick film floating on the surface. To accompany the slab of rice microwaved solid and cracking the plate with the body mass index of a WWE wrestler. Not that day. The curry was very nice indeed, no oil, fluffy rice, and naan bread just on the right side of cooked. The burger was fine, the chips were hot and crispy. The chicken was excellent; my daughter tells me. But then she’d eat chicken cooked in the backside of a pig with dysentery just so long as it was once a clucking thing. The Bluecoat was an excellent choice that day, the food great and we enjoyed the visit. No idea what a ‘Feoffee’ is though. A car, possibly. Or fruit.

Decent food and quick service, but loud drunkards all around you destroy atmosphere. One wouldn't expect this at 12:00 on Wednesday, but hey, welcome to Rotherham i guess.

A decent Wetherspoons pub, but it has a rather dark decor inside and lacks atmosphere. The staff are pleasant but the food quality can be variable depending on who's doing the cooking that day ! But for value and drink choice no other pub chain company can beat it and when we visit other cities and towns we always seek out the local Wetherspoons to try as each one is unique and kudos to the company for giving some great old neglected buildings a new lease of life.

Great little Spoons doing brisk business - all seats taken. CAMRA offer each Wednesday after 19:00 - all cask £1.88 a pint

My only minor criticism is that there isn't a lot of daylight there - each to their own. Everything else is excellent

One very unapproachable large female member of staff making the place feel colder than it already is because the heating doesn’t work.. Stella guaranteed to be flat, the floor in the job centre next door is literally cleaner and you have to peel your sleeves of the tables but it’s great for a cheap pint and belly ache

It’s seems Wetherspoons has now become a local crèche for every single mother in the area, at least the kids were ok while the women drank pints of coors and smoked vapes. I thought even with vapes you couldn’t smoke inside but the staff seem to turn a blind eye. After sampling the panini I wish we hadn’t bothered, Wetherspoons used to be cheap but £6 for what was basically a cat food sandwich is ridiculous. The Ghost ship beer was ok though.

Friends staying in Rotherham had scouted around for a good place to eat in the evening and came across the Bluecoat. They had been the night before we met up and recommended that we go there together. So that was the first recommendation. I had scampi and my wife chicken. I can't remember what the others had, but it was all good! I tried to pay, but they ganged up on me! Recommended!

A homely atmosphere, booths, and lots of tables. Very easy to order, we had a very good time.

It is a Wetherspoons, if you have to go to any pub in Rotherham, this place is the least worse. Although, a man was glassed over the head last time I was here. So, maybe stay at home.

Been in a few Wetherspoons around the country & quite a few are loud and dark, this one is the opposite of those, well lit and able to have a conversation without shouting. Had some food while we were there and that was excellent too. Would recommend.

Typical Spoons with great food all day with a huge variety of beers and wines. Staff very friendly.

been in this pub few times, the service was friendly, the quality of meals were basic , with that price you are not expecting too much. chips were crispy, chicken wings were plenty. beaware some meals are including drinks. good selection of drinks and their prices were low. guinness was £2.58 a pint. other pubs in peak district you won't even get half a pint. tea and coffee are refillable it was only £1.02.

Decent real ale as can always be expected in a Wetherspoons, Farmers Belgium Blue. Price for food here is reminiscent of a cheap holiday without the sunshine!

What you expect from a weathspoons, service 1 star as I went for a drink and they took my breakfast away which I hadn't finished

I am an Ipswich Town supporter who visited as part of a group last week. The pub were more than welcoming to away supporters (which makes a change!) and service was swift via the app/ordering at the bar. All of the drinks were served perfectly and prices were good. There was a good atmosphere within the pub throughout and the locals are very friendly. Highly recommend if you’re travelling to the Aessal New York Stadium as an away supporter. I will definitely be coming back here if we play Rotherham next season👍🏻

Went on a dinner time when Millers were at home. Plenty of banter between supporters but no trouble

I enjoyed a vegetarian breakfast and a glass of orange juice for £7.20. Nice breakfast, but not keen on the sausages.
