The Blue Chip in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Used several times and normally large portion sizes. However on last visit the small cod seemed to have shrunk in size. This time I ordered a medium cod because of this and it was the same size as the small! Chip portions also seem smaller. Very disappointed as I am still hungry. On a positive note what I did have was delicious.

Have had takeaway from here before which was good so decided to get some again. We live 10 mins away by the time I got in with the sausage and chips and fish and chips they were soaked with grease. You could have literally squeezed the oil out of the chips neither of us could eat them all.Large fish was very thin. One side of batter just stuck to the paper Waste of £20! Won’t be returning!

Ordered steak and vege in black bean sauce. Watered down sauce, vege so large had to be cut up, wouldn’t go back. Price $19, very disappointed

Food was really greasy and my clothes was all smelling of the cooking fat you use. Really poor ventilation. I don't know how the reviews are 4.5 I'm in shock.

Friendly service, generous portions - varied choices, all good. I don't review after every visit (perhaps monthly) but must say that it is consistently very good.

Tradition for us to have fish and chips on the first night of our holiday and The Blue Chip didnt disappoint ! Good size portions and reasonable prices.

What a great place! We came with friends. The staff were a lively bunch, welcoming, cheerful and efficient. It was quick & easy to grab a little table. Handy in the town centre, not fancy but all clean and tidy and everything we needed to hand. Great prices. One of our friends had a generous serving of fish and chips, the other was very happy with a lovely piece of fish, glad to see the option with no batter. We shared a very large portion of chips & curry sauce. There were loads and they were really crispy on the outside & soft in the middle, just how I like them. Cooked to perfection. I'm so glad we popped in here. I think we'll have to come again...

I didn’t read the reviews until my friend was inside purchasing, then was worried, as reviews seemed awful. HOWEVER. I think that was when they were still The Fish Bar, or very recently become Blue Chip. The chips were REALLY good, the fish really nice, fish cake nice. Large fish/chips, fish cake/chips/peas all cost £19. Only reason 4 instead of 5 star review, is that the staff could have been more welcoming. Saturday 16th December.

Great chip shop, offering a good variety of fish and chip classics. Fast and efficient service always busy, locals seem to luv the venue, eat whenever down for long weekends. Staff seem intently focused on delivery your order, a brief look up and smile now and again would be nice. Always great fresh food, Cod bites are the best and worth a try as is the new curry sauce! Perfect.

For our first evening in Callington we headed to the local fish and chip shop. The menu was ok and had the usual variety to order. Staff were slow, not a please or thank you.

We had American guests for dinner but were caught by a power-cut and our cooker is electric - what better solution than fish and chips? The Blue Chip stayed open late for us, all the staff were friendly and the food was great. I don't know if the change of name indicates a change of ownership or a total re-branding but based on our experience it is worth trying again for those who were previously disappointed.
