I have been to this cafe a number of times as I work nearby. The food is freshly cooked and delicious, there are plenty of options for veggies and vegans. The couple who run it are friendly and accommodating which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

On one of the little side roads off Penge High Street - away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street its definitely worth a visit or two. Owners are very hospitable, accommodating and friendly. Tables inside and outside. Good atmosphere and great for a catch up with friends. Would definitely revisit. Prices not bad, but being in Penge could be a little better value for money.

The Blue Belle Cafe is a brilliant little business that serves delicious food for very reasonable prices. Erica catered for my colleagues and I over a 4 day period for lunch. I was a tricky customer with lots of dietary requirements, lots of orders & a constantly changing delivery time but somehow Erica managed! We were served piping hot meals every day, perfectly on time & everyone was left very happy (and very full!!) I would 100% recommend giving the Blue Belle Cafe a visit if you get the chance.

We went in on a Saturday and were lucky to get a table as it was busy. They have the normal meaty fried breakfast you can imagine but also a good choice of vegan and veggie options. We had chai coffees with the vegan hash and vegan tacos - everything was great as always. They also do amazing toasties and sandwiches for lunch with really interesting fillings. Would recommend to anyone!

Nice enough place though we were shocked when our breakfast came with half a slice of black pudding on the plate. What on Earth is that all about? The norm in most cafes is two slices of pudding per breakfast...It has put us off returning to your place, which is a shame because the rest of the food is nice but we just felt ripped off and disappointed with your meaness.

Visited this cafe for the first time and upon entering was surprised how warm and welcoming the greeting was. Service was similar and I thoroughly enjoyed this change from the norm. The decor inside was all blues and whites and the walls were dotted with signs/posters and pictures that evoked a family lounge feel. The food was as they advertised and tasted so clean and grease free, unexpected but welcomed. All in a great experience which offers a warm welcome, tasty food without the grease and a homely place with a personal touch.

Lovely smiling service and cool interiors but won’t come again for the food. Nice coffee but I had the veggie hash which was cold with two way overdone poached (came hard boiled) eggs. Also so much potato rather than other veggies which weren’t crisp as I was expecting. Maybe it was an off day.

As a new resident to Penge, I stopped to have a capuccino with homemade lemon drizzle cake (which was delicious) and was greeted warmly and since gone back a few times.

I've been visiting the Blue Belle for years. It's a family favourite for the best coffee east of San Fransisco (a cafe in-joke as told by Bill Kirchen, the US diesel blues legend). Erica and her crew serve great traditional yummy breakfasts but I always go for the specials. Or the taco breakfast. Oh and the cakes. Once every 6 weeks or so they open in the evening for a music supper and have the most amazing blues, jazz or tango musicians. A real treat and you'll only ever know if you get on the mailing list and book straight away - tickets are like gold dust. The Blue Belle is open everyday (despite the Trip Adviser stated opening hours that currently states it's closed on Sat and Sunday) and you'll be guaranteed a great relaxed atmosphere whether you're indulging in the yummy food or just popping in for a beverage. And if you're lucky you'll hear an impromptu guitar recital by Chris. It's getting very popular so I'm a bit loathe to encourage more visitors but I'm being generous of spirit. And if I have occasionally have to wait a bit for the home cooked food, so be it. Enjoy!

Blue Belle is great value for breakfast. Excellent choice of tasty dishes including Mackerel Hash and Eggs Royal amongst others. Service is always friendly and you never seem to have to wait too long. There is art on sale on the walls. Deco is basic but clean and there are some nice tables to sit outside on a not-too busy road. The only drawback is that the coffee doesn't really live up to the standards of the food. I won't ask for a flat white again as they don't know how to make it - but it's ok - this is not a hipster cafe but a lovely establishment serving local people good value excellent food.

What kind of cafe closes at 3pm? We went in at 3:40 this afternoon, not knowing it closed at 3pm. Nowhere on or near the door does the cafe list its opening times. The sign on the door said "Open", and the door was unlocked and slightly ajar. We walked in, looked around, and were rudely told by a woman who came out of the back that they were closed. But beyond the great food and drink, it is the charm of the place that is the star here. There is a exhibition space on the wall which showcases the work of local artists. And if you're lucky, you may also get to hear the succession of musicians who practice there. The lone member of staff was amenable and friendly. We were served a copious hot tea which was a good start. I was impressed that the breakfast was being cooked to order, but when served the incipid sausage was cold, the grilled sausage was hard, the hash (diced fried potatoes) were firm and cool and the poached eggs were over done. I love to support local business and if I thought this was a one off I would try it again. But unfortunately I won't be!

The coffee and cakes here are sensational. I'm serious about coffee; it is an obsession. I source my own green coffee beans, roast them and work hard to be a good barista. Hence I am always dissatisfied with coffee 'out'. I fell upon this place while waiting to pick-up my wife from the hospital yesterday. It is the best prepared coffee I've had out in recent years. The one that came close cost £8.50 from a Michelin star restaurant. The only down side is that I need a better excuse to go back! The service was great too. Keep-up the great work.

I love this place and have been coming since it opened but the last few times I’ve been, I’ve had to wait around 15 mins for a takeaway coffee. Staff are getting stressed and flustered, mixing up orders and on two occasions they simply stopped taking orders because they’d got so behind (but didn’t explain this to the waiting customers). I’m sure they are trying their best but it’s awful to see customers walking out. Such a shame as I really want to continue to enjoy coming here, and the coffee is great! I like supporting local businesses and want to see them thrive. Not sure what the problem is - maybe the kitchen is too small to cope with all the food orders or perhaps the staff need dedicated roles eg. One person making all the coffee. Maybe the menu is too diverse for that little kitchen? It would help too if a staff member perhaps explained that there would be a long wait due to it being particularly busy, and then we could decide whether to leave the queue. I’m putting this review on here in the hope that the owners will see it and make some changes. I really hope it improves.
