Fabulous homemade pizza and bangers and mash! Great choice or beers and wine. Dog friendly. Great service. Just couldn't fault it, tbh! Thank you 👏

Nt a bad little pub & lodge to stay in, a few little improvements would help hugely. The room was spacious, clean and comfy. A small wall mounted TV as fine. Good selection of Tea, coffee & hotchocoate with a few biscuts. There was a little mini fridge in the lodge hallway that had cans of pop in available free to guests. Large car park was great On the negative side The wifi was very poor and constantly dropped out (when away on business wifi is very important) On my stay the shower water was tepid at best. The water in the sink was very cold. There was a little mould at the base of the shower by the shower tray. Again on my stay there was a dog barking constanly, I presume this was a guests as it was in the guet lodge. Not a great thing to have happened when trying to get some rest. As I mentioned a few little improvements would make the world of difference.

Really good Sunday dinner but service isn’t the best. They do the best biscoff cheesecake and would recommend the food on a Sunday

Needed a reasonably priced room for an overnight stay nearby after a wedding. Took a punt on this place as options were very limited, but it’s a little gem. Room was spacious, clean and very well kitted with a lovely boutique feel to it without the boutique price tag. The staff we met on arrival were so lovely & friendly. A nice little touch was the fridge filled with water & soft drinks outside the rooms for guests to take if needed & given the hot weather - it was very much needed upon return from the wedding. Breakfast was pretty good too. The only downside was that the room looked right onto the road so it was a bit noisy early in the morning with traffic. Having said that, it didn’t spoil the stay & just a reminder it was a nice old building rather than a modern box with a lack of personality. We fully intend to stay again, but next time we will spend the day exploring the area first and making the most of it!

Have eaten at The Bluebell 4 times in the last few months and we find it an excellent local pub to eat in. We often have the steak or gammon and both dishes have been tasty, good quality and a decently sized portion. Staff are friendly and will definitely be returning 😊

The food as always was excellent and good value. The service was again excellent and attentive BUT To listen to the manager berate his staff in front of the whole bar and restaurant was unacceptable and verging on bullying behaviour. If it was my daughter or partner I would have had something to say about his attitude. The fact that his IT system was playing up on the bar meaning he couldn’t retrieved bills etc and he was punching the screen was no excuse. This really was unacceptable behaviour and didn’t support the establishment which is well presented, clean and tidy serving good food. Beware of the grumpy bully behind the bar !!!!

Booked a table for 8 with 2 children online easy to book online confirmation email shame it was the only thing that went right. It took 45 minutes to order our food which took an age to come out and when it did come out it was cold. They also left out 1 order so 1 turkey dinner came out 15 minutes after everyone else’s meal. Before this Turkey dinner could be finished a waitress came over and said we need the table back in 10 minutes as we have another party coming in! Unbelievable, if you had taken the food order from us earlier and got the food out quicker we’d have time to finish our mains. We didn’t even get time to order Dessert or coffees, poor little ones were looking forward to some ice cream. I just wouldn’t go back, poor service, cold food and very rude staff.

New menu from today 9/2/2022. Choice of 3 for £15.00. We had prawns in tempura batter with chill dip. Chipolatas and honey mustard dip, salted squid with lemon mayonnaise dip. We added fries and onion rings. 2 pints of tiger beer and a tonic water and lime. All superb. As always really good, friendly staff. Will go again and again and again....

We went as a family of eight including a 5 year old and a 6 month old. The food was nice but it was spoilt by the very strong smell of someone smoking cannabis outside the door. It was raining so smokers were under the small entrance porch. Every time someone opened the doors smoke drifted in. Cigarette smoke was bad enough but someone lit wacky baccy. We complained and staff said they would tell the manager. We have had nice meals over the years at this pub. They need to have a smoking shelter away from the door. We had to squeeze bye two people smoking in the porch as we left.

We visited the Pub for the first time hoping to have a lovely Brunch. Waiting over 45 minutes and no food, really slow service and little apology from the staff. Also tables were not clean and hadn't been wiped down. Cutlery box didnt have the right amount of knives, folks and serviettes. Shame such poor service, looking at reviews our experience was nowhere near. Really bad, I'm afraid. Not the usual Everard Pub experience.

We have been here six or seven times over the few years. They have changed the menu to hot dogs burgers and pizzas, plus a few others. Food ok but not enough choice for us older folk. Only one other couple there. No atmosphere. Did not get the burger I ordered but they apologised and charged me for a basic burger. Won’t rush back.

Unfortunately this is the only pub in Desford, and we visit our son from abroad , 1st visit waited an hour for a carvery !!! lunch , 2nd time waited 1.5 hours for a carvery lunch , 3rd time went to there bank holiday weekend extravaganza on the car park and had a burger, so tough you could have used it as a discus at the olympics , the people that run this place are extremely lucky, if there we’re two pubs in Desford this place would have gone out of business in weeks

Ordered take away during COVID times on time hot well prepared tasty food. Good value what’s not to like. Delivery dead on time.

Booked in the afternoon, not busy. Had the gammon steak, perfect fried egg, lovely crisp fries. Husband had chicken and ribs with coleslaw and crisp fries. Friendly waitress. Have been here several times for family meals, always good food and service. Will go again.

We have used the takeaway menu twice, once for some pub classics and today for Sunday lunch. It was easy to order using their online app you can select a time and pre-order for a later time in the day. The food was delivered on time, hot and delicious. We will definitely be using again and would recommend and I hope they continue after lockdown ends. It was great to order first thing Sunday morning we could then enjoy a chilled out day in the sunshine, it arrived at the specified time. Well done to all the team.

Midweek stopover at very friendly pub with newly refurbished rooms comfortable and clean with both the evening food from a large menu and breakfast is excellent stop here whenever in the Midlands

On arrival staccato member was very helpful and friendly, great start was staying at the hotel and can say the room was brilliant. Well decorated and furnished, warm sAnd comfortable.The first meal I had was a mixed grill, wow, what a meal, plentiful, well presented and very tasty. No room for dessert. Great range of drinks in a very well maintained and good looking venue.Well worth a visit tor drinks, food and a stayover.

Work stopover at the Bluebell very nice food home cooked Sky sports on which was great ! Room comfortable bt TV not working shame . Fantastic breakfast would defiantly stay again .

Eaten here a few times and found it to be consistently good. Again the food was excellent, as was the beer. Definately worth a visit, and we will certainly be eating here again.

Booked for my granddaughters. 18 birthday ,we booked for Sunday. The staff were very helpful, but afraid the very long wait for starters, and main meal was vey poor , it would have been nice if the staff came over and said sorry about the wait.The restaurant was vey quite at the time .The Sunday roast we have was not to bad but the roast parsnips were burnt as was the Yorkshire puddings. Would we book again don't think we would.

Saturday evening and it wasnt very busy but a couple of tables reserved so they could fit us in. we chose from the specials menu chalked on the board as the pleasant young man told us of the things that werent available that we had ordered. He then came back to say the special was unavailable too. A not very helpful lady suddenly found something and I was called back from the car park. We did not return as it seemed a very disorganised establishment and not very welcoming.

Me and my family always come here for a cheap bite to eat, I can’t fault the staff or the food and the burgers are great!

We had an unplanned stop here recently (2 adults & a young child). The food was great. It tasted amazing and was really good value for money. We’d definitely be regular visitors if we lived closer although I have to say I think we’ll find an excuse to pop out that way again!

After not visiting this restaurant for a few months I was looking forward to a great meal however when we ordered the Sunday dinner we were disappointed the food was not up to the standard we had expected & then we went to pay at the bar & the staff just kept walking by not once going we will be with you in a minute not impressed at all.

We hadn't eaten here for Sunday lunch for a while and decided to re-visit for Easter. Great service, nice atmosphere and the food was outstanding (and great value as well). A number of us agreed it was one of the best Sunday lunches we had ever eaten. I think we are already booked in again in a few weeks. Excellent!!

Visited again for Sunday lunch. Again it retains it's best Sunday lunch crown. Although we had to wait a while, when the food came it was delicious and plentiful. There are alternatives to Sunday lunch available with One Course £11, Two Courses £15 and Three Courses £18. I don't think I could have managed 3 courses, the dessert was a bit of a struggle. The service was very good and the waitresses were very helpful and friendly. I have no hesitation in giving an excellent rating.

Fab Sunday lunch, excellent service, generous portions. Beef was superb. Veg option - quiche - was delicious and served with a super rainbow salad.

Reallly nice local pub, great atmosphere and food. Only popped in for a quick drink on Friday, ended up staying all evening. Enjoyed the pizza.

I visit this place quite often and the food is always consistently good. Portions are generous and all dishes resonably priced. Recommend the Black & Blue Burger. Service can be a bit slow at times though.

Friendly crowd of locals who welcomed us and our dog. We had one of the best Caesar salads we’ve ever had, huge piece of chicken and all delicious. The balti was good too.

New menu, new chef, daily specials board all at a good price. Good pub dining. TV room with BT Sport. Cosy snug. Outdoor garden and patio area. Only draw back for disabled visitors is that there is no disabled w.c.!

Came here in the beginning of January and the food was amazing the staff were so friendly. Took my grandma and grandad and my grandma is a fussy devil but she loved it!! Won’t be long till we are back here again. Thanks to Dave for looking after us and being a top chef

On the 22nd December I invited friends and family to the bluebell to celebrate my birthday. I asked for a revised menu to cater for the vegetarians in the family plus a roast pork dinner for the meat eaters. The roast pork was probably the best roast dinner I’ve tasted and all the vegetarians were very happy with the choice and flexibility the bluebell had to offer. As a local I’m a bit biased but the staff are always amazing, friendly and will always make your night special ❤️

Fantastic evening at the Bluebell. Really impressed with the service, top lad called Joel looked after us. Great beer, great food. Perfect. Couldn’t fault it in any way.

Visited for lunch and a pint following a run again, and again the food was fantastic, very well presented, good sized portions and very tasty, served with a lovely pint! Definitely return, and again highly recommended.

I came here today for some food with my daughter, cousin and his daughter, we were pleasantly greeted by a young lady upon arrival and promptly seated and served our drinks. Unfortunately our service was then taken over by a miserable woman who clearly did not want children in the restaurant!

This place is great! Warm, friendly welcome, lovely accommodation and really good pub food. Recommend very highly.

Visited our local with friends today for an impromptu Sunday lunch - friendly helpful staff, great food and portion size. Delighted that they managed to find me a nut roast ( delicious) bonus!

I have recently been in the Blue Bell and was really very impressed, it’s a comfortable quaint pub and I’ve enjoyed my few visits there. Sadly I won’t be returning.

We had a lovely stay here. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom was spotless and large. The breakfast has traditional and very ample and the staff very friendly. The pub food was very good! The only downside was that we had some street noise but overall a very good experience.

Very dissapointed. We had made a booking for 8pm and arrived at the Bluebell to be told that there would be an hour wait for food. When I asked the member of staff, why book - her response was rude and abrupt. She then continued to do what she was doing behind the bar, smiling and laughing, leaving me standing there for a response.

Called here following a run with the dog as they’re dog friendly. It’s a pretty looking pub, they have a few good beers on tap and a lovely courtyard garden out back, which was lovely to sit and enjoy an absolutely beautiful meal in the sun. The food really is excellent.

Another lovely Sunday lunch. The turkey was delicious, as was all the accompanying stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding etc etc. They don't do the special Sunday lunch anymore but it still wasn't overly expensive at £11 each. Good choice of beers on draught. Staff were all friendly.

Went for a meal on the deal of 2 main courses and a drink for £20. Be careful as there are restrictions, some understandable and some not....

Went here for a family get together and a catch up. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food took a little while but it was saturday 5-7pm. I had the salmon and king prawn speggetti. Plenty of fish and it was delicious. Well done staff and chef. Excellent

We stopped-off for food, on the off-chance and found a very good choice of pub food, including vegetarian options.

Me and my partner went for dinner last March. I had the soup of the day which was served with a lovely bit of bread, the soup was stupendously splendid. As well as this my partner had a cheeseburger with some sweet potato fries and had it with onion rings. When visiting the toilets I noticed that it was very clean and tidy compared with restaurants I’ve previously visited. The chef ‘David’ was very friendly and held good conversation with us for a good half hour. Furthermore his partner, ‘Donna’ was also very friendly and kind. The pair were lovely whilst we stayed for our meal. In addition to this the staff were very welcoming and helpful; they made sure that we were ok several times, to which me and my partner were. Overall the pub and restaurant was utterly brilliant.

I booked a table at The Blue Bell for 15 people for to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We pre-booked our meals which was great as we didn't have to wait too long and we had children with us. The food and service were great.

Never eaten here and don't intend to.

We had heard good things about the pizza at the blue bell and thought we would give it a try as we like to use local non chain places. The pizza I can’t criticise, however a pizza and a desert for four of us took the sum total of just under 3 hours from start to finish. Once the courses had been ordered they arrived quickly. The difficulty was getting any service from a waitress who clearly didn’t want to be there and had no interest in looking after the customers. Having to try and attract attention to ask for additional drinks, plates to be cleared, dessert menu, bill delivered is poor, especially when you end up having to go up to the bar as no one comes to collect payment even when you finally end up getting the bill. If they could get the service fixed this would be a great place, until then we’ll go elsewhere.

I visited the Bluebell with my family on Sunday and had an excellent meal and service! The food was delicious and well presented! The staff were very attentive! None of us could find fault with anything! We will be returning as often as we can! !!

Unfortunately we came here for a family meal and had a very poor experience from the get go.

My first visit, very impressed with food. We chose the tapas, which was selected from a varied menu, was well presented and magnificently cooked. Fine selection of beers and friendly staff. Great night out, thanks, Little Alice ;)

We decided to pop in at lunchtime for a bite to eat. I chose the fish finger sandwich, my husband had the Blue Bell Club and a portion of chips to share. The size and quality of the sandwiches was impressive: I struggled to finish mine.

Sorry to say I was unhappy with this stay. Room looked nice and clean but was freezing cold and had a huge damp water stain with mould above bed. Unfinished in areas with holes in shower Room wall. VERY noisy from people above until after midnight. Dogs from landlord made it difficult to get out of room. Car park difficult to get to from room. Car park full of rubbish and glass. Expensive for this service. Needs more work.

I have stayed here on business every three months for the last four years. Over that period the rooms have been hugely improved and the food, surroundings and staff are excellent.

Popped by on an off chance and were very lucky we managed to get a table for Sunday lunch.

The Bluebell Inn and Lodge was a real find. We booked in for one night as I was performing in Glenfield. We were incredibly impressed with the room we had which was called ' The Pump Room'. There were twin beds a lovely bathroom with a P shape bath / shower which worked really well in the space, a table and coffee tea facilities as well as a great TV with a good selection of channels. The only thing was the emergency light (great to see) glowed brilliantly through the night making the room rather bright for me. My husband snored through it as he always does lol. The Pump room is at the front of the property so on the road if you are a light sleeper you might want to book a room towards the back it didn't bother us. We had dinner the night we arrived and that was tasty and hot with good service. The choice of beers on tap was also a good selling point as it made hubby happy. We had a fabulous full English breakfast included in the price, with juice and coffee. We were very impressed and would recommend the pub and rooms. Well done to the landlord very very nice.

Wow this was a massive meal with three meats & lots of it plus some lovely veg & potatoes & the service was first class & friendly. We also use this restaurant on a Saturday night & the service & food is just as good

We have had dinner here many times. The 2 steaks and a bottle of wine on Thursday is really good, steak very well cooked and the wine was quite good, there was a choice. Anything served with the Potato salad I would recommend, beautiful homemade salad which I asked for the recipe and was given!

Went for a mid week meal and found a varied menu to cater for most people, staff were friendly and food was very tasty. The tapas dishes where served in 10cm dishes and the slow cooked beef rib was very good.

Very friendly staff and food was fantastic and reasonable too. Beer and wine was good. The interior is very pleasant, light and airy feel to it.

the staff were all really friendly from checking in to checking out, room was clean, well equipped ensuite immaculate love the bath it was HUGE. Meals were absolutely gorgeous well presented and really good value for money, the whole atmosphere was pleasant and we felt extremely welcome. Definitely recommend the bluebell inn for food and accommodation am planning a return journey next year and will be definitely using the Bluebell Inn again :) Thanks to all the staff for making our visit as lovely as it was.

Fabulous hullumi salad for me and the classic burger for the other half. Both were mouthwatering. Cant wait to go back for an evening meal.

I went here for a meal after this was recommended by my fatherThe fish and chip portion was very small and the chips even had black bits on them and I did not enjoy them at all and for the price I felt that I had been ripped off and that my father had recommended what he likes and not what I like which is small portions but then he likes salt and I do not..And as for the service well that was very slow to and I was kept waitingTry this place because it is in a really good village and see what the meal you order is like for yourself

Visited the Blue Bell for lunch after we'd been to Tropical Birdland (which, by the way, is definitely worth a visit). Whilst the pub itself was cute and nicely presented staff were not particularly welcoming and had a rather grumpy attitude toward us. The food was below average - I've honestly experienced better service and eaten better food at Wetherspoons and Harvester.

Took my friend here for lunch today we had gammon it was excellent .very good portions .service was very good waitress name Mary very professional would definitely recommend and will be back

Great rooms and nice welcome however, the breakfast was very small with streaky bacon was not to my liking. I would definitely stay again but will make sure that I eat well the night before so I'm not hungry still after breakfast.

my wife and i visted today after visiting the doctors in desford,weve been past a few times and it looked good. ordered fish and chips cost £6.95 each, wow what a disapointment the cod the length and width of two fish fingers and a handfull of chips,terrible value for money when i told the young waitress my thoughts her reply was its the lunch time menu.the meal is as close to a childrens meal i have ever witness, actually felt conned at the price £6.95 each, left and had a sandwich when we got home..will not venture back to this pub over priced and terribley small portions.dont go there are better pubs around

Have been to this pub many times and always had an enjoyable time, the food is always superb and cooked exactly to your liking, the staff lead by Jay are always courteous and attentive, real value, would recommend to all.

We went here between Christmas and new year, for a meal, greeted by a miserable barmaid, who told us half the menu wasn't available, so we ordered, minutes later a meal that wasn't available appeared for a local couple, when our food came my 4 year old boy said his spag bol was awful, thinking he was bluffing just to get a desert the misses tried it, only to say it tastes off. We told the staff, only to be told, oh don't tell the chef that or he won't be happy, hence we won't be going back ever, oh and the skip in car park had a rather running around it.

I went for lunch but as soon as I sat down in the Lounge/Bar area, a large dog came and jumped all over me. Another one came pushing and shoving its head at me. After I noticed that the dogs were doing this to people who were eating, I thought better of it.It's a shame that some dogs owners don't like dogs and especially when they're eating. The staff seemed oblivious to the whole scenario.

Was told the rooms had been recently refurbished and was I in for a surprise!!! Absolutely beautiful! Includes breakfast! ! What a bargain!! Better than any 5 star in the area! The food in the restaurant was brilliant! !

Stunning Sunday lunch. Variety of starters to choose from, opted for the pate. Amazing textures and flavours that we weren't expecting. The pate was tasty, with a sweet and sticky onion marmalade, on top a round of toasted bread. Really tasty and if I'm honest we could have shared our starter. Generous portion sizes isn't a bad thing though! The main course of rib of beef served on the bone was possibly the tastiest beef I've had in a while. The roast parsnips and crispy parsnips was a nice little extra touch to the meal. The vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection. It didn't matter which meat you opted for with the Sunday lunch option, they all came with the yummy extras - Yorkshire pudding and stuffing! The homemade gravy was the perfect accompaniment to each type of meat. So those having lamb had a mint infused gravy. This again was a lovely touch!The ambience in the pub was buzzing in the front area (football and sport on the tv) to the peaceful sofa and soft furnishings area near the back. The newly decorated rooms are STUNNING! Modern colours with upcycled pieces of furniture add that unique and stylish element. The rooms facing the road was surprisingly quiet, couldn't hear the cars. Bargain prices for a beautiful, top quality renovated rooms with breakfast included. Great place, fantastic rooms and superb staff. Well done.

I'd highly recommend the Blue Bell, whether you are eating or drinking. An excellent choice of beers, including several Everards ales, and a lovely food menu. The burgers and the pizzas are both superb and portion sizes are very generous for the price.

Three of us stayed at the BLUE BELL INN only gor one night. Would happily have stayed longer. Mikes ( the new owner and manager) mum greeted us and was exceptionally welcoming and helpful as were all tge staff during our stay. Were going to book via Air*** but had trouble opening an account with them. So contacted the Inn directly and got it even cheaper! The place had just been refurbished and we stayed in room nmbr 1. Really clean even with a 4 in a bed inspection. Breakfast was good, just be sure to be there at the time you say because it'll be ready and waiting for you. The restaurant was good with quality and value rather than quantity and value. The locals eat there as we discovered and made some good local friends. We'll obviously be back and soon!

Good menu. Most meals under £10. We had BBQ chicken, burger, pie of the day and Italian chicken. Staff were friendly n efficient. Meals came out fairly quick n were all good quality. Nice pub, nice food. Highly recommend.

Visited last night to celebrate a birthday with friends and family. Was very pleasantly surprised by our overall experience at the Blue Bell, Desford. The staff were friendly, the real ale was good and the food we had was delicious. I went for the gammon steak which came promptly as did all our meals and the portion sizes were very good. Excellent service and the prices were very reasonable. We are moving to Desford so this will be our new local and I am very pleased with our overall experience.

We've been to the bluebell 3 times in the last 2 months for Sunday dinner whilst visiting family and we've really enjoyed it. A nice relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff and delicious food. A great choice for the kids menu and really nice to have a good choice of dinners as well as the Sunday roast. We'll defo visit again soon.

We have recently started using this place regularly after living in the village for years and have been pleasantly surprised. It had been some time since our last visit.The recent refurbishment is excellent, providing a light and airy pub which is very welcoming.There is a wide and varied choice on the menu; the pizza's in particular are fantastic.Excellent all round.

Visited on Friday night with 2 friends. We had not been to the Blue Bell for some time and we were very pleasantly surprised. The decor was much improved, the waitress service was excellent and the food (we all had pizzas and yummy desserts) was delicious.

The Menu is traditional English Grill and Italian. This is my 2nd visit with wife and friends. The service from Izzy was exceptional, others could learn from her. The Pizza, well as good as being in Italy. The Burgers are very good value for money and home made. We had recently popped in at lunch time for a pizza which we found to be testy and well prepared but a long wait after it meant that we abandoned the idea of a dessert. This time we came for an evening meal. We all had different dishes and were all pleased. I had the steak, ale & Stilton pie, though the Stilton didn't contribute anything to the flavour there was plenty of meat which had clearly been well prepared before cooking, no at, no gristle. It was tasty and hot. Service was pleasant and we did not have to wait before some attention was given to the table. The dining are was well supported and a family birthday tea for a young "lady" who had just started school showed that the place was family friendly. Just beware the slope as you leave the bar on the way out, it can catch you out.
