Nice gaatro-pub but could be better. Arrived at lunch, we were a large booking, pub was very quiet. Service was slow, had to request plates to go with our sharing nibbles. These weren't cleared before the main course started to arrive, which was awkward and we had to ask to get them cleared. Club sandwich was very dry, completely missed the free range egg which would've helped. Dry bread, dry chicken and a very small quantity of mayo. Wouldn't rush back.

Have eaten at the Bluebell on many occasions before & overall impressions of the changes were good. I would however like to draw the managers attention to some points below which will not stop us returning to the Bluebell to enjoy in the future but are seen as ‘opportunities to improve’ the overall dining experience. There were 4 of us and we were seated at a ‘small round table which wasn’t really quite big enough for all the plates, glasses, bottles etc & continually needed to be cleared to make room for the next servings. PET HATE😡 Nothing worse than reviewing a menu pairing & deciding on your starter & main course only to be told at the time of ordering . . . “ Oh I’m very sorry we don’t have that item on today/any more. Appreciate things can change at any time but STAFF SHOULD BE TRAINED to advise at the time off handing out menus of ANY ‘Non Available’ items. One if the 4 drinks brought to the table was the wrong drink - a Shandy was ordered yet a straight beer was supplied, however this was quickly rectified One of the starters brought to the table was the wrong meal. Crab on Sourdough ordered & a massive lump of bread with a small pot of Balsamic & Oil was presented. There was a slight confusion with the staff about what had actually been ordered until I asked for the menu to be brought to table to point out the item chosen - Again quickly rectified (possibly as it was a cold dish?) Ending on a positive - Both the food & the service from the moment we walked in to when we left were VERY good. Look forward to returning & hopefully the above point have been addressed

We booked a Surprise 40th Birthday celebration meal here for 18 people in total. Well what can I say, it was perfect from start to finish. The booking was easy, all they asked of us was to provide our meal choices before the day. They allowed us to decorate the table which included a centre piece and we provided our own Birthday cake. The meals was spot on, enjoyed by all! So well done to the chefs and kitchen staff! Family said the steak melted in their mouth. The food presentation was beautiful. At the end of our meal, Lara came out with the Birthday cake, and we all sang Happy Birthday. It was such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It has recently been renovated and they have done an amazing job with the place, it’s got a modern rustic cosy feel to it. We are definitely going to return & we highly recommend. I have no appropriate photos to share as the ones I have includes people that attended. All the staff was so helpful & polite, especially Lara. So a massive Thank you to you all, especially to Lara.

Recently renovated, this gastro pub has just re-opened. The renovations are excellent, done to a high standard and make the premises feel more open and airy. Staff are, as ever, friendly, attentive and helpful and the food was delicious and good value. I had the walnut and beetroot salad with goat's cheese which was lovely. Really nice atmosphere. The outside seating area at the back will, I'm sure, prove to be very popular and has given the pub a lovely outdoor area, in addition to the smaller area at the front.

The Bluebell has such amazing potential, but sadly just doesn’t hit the mark. The furnishings are tired - ripped seats with stuffing showing for instance. The food was really good, but service was really poor - having asked for water with our drinks, we had to ask again only to be brought a bottle of almost hot water, and no glasses. For saying the pub was almost empty, we waited for half an hour to be brought the bill, before we gave up and went up to the bar to ask to pay. Really disappointing as it could be really special

I really want to leave a good review but I can’t. The venue and decor was cute and kitsch, one of the mains we ordered was tasty, and the desserts were great portions. But the pizza we ordered was horrific. Beyond disappointing. It was a BBQ chicken pizza. Which was burnt, dry, crispy. It was like eating a massive pizza sized Dorito. Every bit just shattered the whole thing and it splintered off. Across the whole pizza there were only two pieces of chicken the size of a couple of grapes, no decent sauce/moisture or anything to make the brittle dough more appealing, no cheese atall, bbq sauce was so thinly spread and burnt that it was just a sticky congealed mess. It was beyond disappointing. I don’t often leave negative reviews but this was honestly probably the worst pizza of my life. The brownie for dessert whilst being a huge portion was also incredibly dry. Brownies are supposed to be gooey and a little stodgy. This was more like a shortbread. Thank gps for the coulis and ice cream. Overall some nice elements to our meal, but the overall experience was brought down by some really terrible bits, which are overwhelmingly all I can remember.

Food was nice, just needed a bit more seasoning. Service to start was ok, a dark haired lady looked after us, she was good, so it started well., but when we were given dessert menus we sat for 25 mins with no one taking our order, but we could see 4 staff talking at the bar. We just got the bill and left, we shouldn’t have to chase down staff when there’s only 2 tables sat down. I got home and saw that they had overcharged us. I emailed the restaurant as I wasn’t going back, but no response. The experience Pretty annoying as we wanted to have more drinks and food, but there was no one to give our order to. The Sunday floor staff need looking at by the owner.

After ordering (and paying for) a pint at the bar, one of the staff partially poured it and left it sitting under the tap for literally 10 mins whilst he served several other customers and I waited and waited..... No apology for the wait or any explanation. This was within the small area of the pub where the band playing was (in my opinion) very good but ear splittingly loud for such a small area (a family group had already asked if they could move into the dining area because they wanted to chat but were refused). In the end, to try to attract the young barman's attention, I put my hand on this shoulder and asked if he could finish pouring my drink as it had been standing for so long. This request resulted in it being finished and almost threw at me with no apology or explanation. Shortly afterwards the Landlady? appeared and launched into me telling me that "she would thank me to not abuse her staff as one of them had complained that I had put my hard on his shoulder and it had hurt"???? I explained that I had only placed my hand to attract his attention and told her of the long wait but her reply was only "he is busy". Whilst I would always champion managers who stand up for their staff, surely It would have been appropriate for her to listen to the customer before launching into vitriol. Hadn't been to the Blue Bell for a while but don't think I will bother again until (some not all) of the staff treat the customers with more respect.

We visited this establishment as part of a day trip from Nottingham. During our meticulous planning, we contacted all the places we intended to visit. Regrettably, we were not informed about the £5 entrance fee. This unexpected charge amounted to £40 for our group of eight, which was quite substantial. Furthermore, the food available was an additional expense and not added into the entrance fee. We would have been happy to purchase the food from the menu which is something we looked at when planning the trail. However the menu wasn't available due to the event and instead we ended up with pizza at the additional cost of the entrance fee. This was particularly disappointing as we had planned our itinerary in advance to eat here. It is not what one would expect when embarking on a real ale trail. We were also served real ale in plastic cups, which is understandable if consumed outdoors, but we were seated indoors. In the future, it would be greatly appreciated if your establishment could inform potential customers of any additional costs when they make inquiries. This would enable us to make informed decisions and avoid such unforeseen situations. I can't take away from the fact there was an event which is why I've given the atmosphere a 3 star. Everything else WE ARE VERYDISSATISFIED WITH. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The Blue Bell used to be a fantastic venue for brilliant food, prepared with care by chefs who know their craft, but are now working elsewhere, because the new owners seem to appreciate profit over culinary skill, so that the best chefs have felt unwanted and unappreciated. I had an incredibly wonderful celebration meal for a significant occasion, some years ago. The staff were just amazing. However, I suspect that under the new ownership, if I was to reserve the Blue Bell for a night, for another big milestone in my life, I might not get the service & general ambiance I was treated to last time, but I know that the cost of reservation would be hugely more than anything paid in the past, even factoring in the effect of inflation & Putin's War The people I have spoken to "on the ground" - waiting staff, bar staff & kitchen staff, including chefs all say that they love their job, but feel totally unappreciated by the owners of this restaurant/bar. The regular customers of this amazing Gastropub, of the past, have drifted away and appear to have been replaced by "one-off visiting couples" maybe with dog/s in tow. In the past, the chefs had permission to buy brilliant quality meat & fish/ seafood, so that there could be a list of "Meals of the Day" that could be presented to diners, along with seasonal accompaniments. Sadly, these days, a lot of the food is not of the standard of the past and the price of everything has escalated by eye-watering proportions. How sad.

Ate a meal here on Mothers Day 2024. Was shown to a table and then waited 50 minutes before I had to politely say excuse me to a nearby waiter to ask when we would be served. He moaned at how busy it was. Not professional at all. My other half ordered the potted pork and chutney starter. It arrived with the waiter saying sorry no chutney? He was just left with the potted pork and a couple of slices of dry bread. I had to give him half of my butter from my own starter just to at least make it not as dry. We were offered no alternative or warned prior to it being served. Waited a long time for the main and by then we just wanted to leave. Main was ok, nothing special. I had the triple roast. The bar area to order drinks absolutely stank of vomit. We went to the bar to pay as soon as we finished our food to get out. Waited a very long time with no acknowledgement at all. Finally we were able to pay, they got the bill incorrect twice. Just absolutely appalling. Clueless staff, no preparation for busy occasions despite tables being booked in advance. Meals served without the key ingredients that make it worth having?? Not good enough. I'm certainly glad I didn't take my mother here.

A group of 5, went here for mothers day 2024. We were looking forward to the celebration. However we were very disappointed. I has crispy squid and as you can see there was very little squid to be had, others had the chicken skewers and reported that the chicken had a tough outer skin like it had been pre-cooked. For mains we had the Sunday roast, I was so looking forward to this as it was now 3pm. The only hot thing on the plate was the boiled potatoes. Everthything else was luke warm. The roast (yes 1) potatoes could have been used to know a building down. I has the triple meat and the pork was a 2 cm square. The chickens was nice enough though. Now for the killer, the cauliflower cheese was like water, cold and had no cheese at all. If you can't make it, don't serve it. A server asked how the food was, I said "very poor" but he just walked off. I spoke to Reece the manager before paying the bill and without question he removed 2 of the meals as if this was like a common accurance. Other tables were also waiting to complain about the service. For £32 for 2 courses, take £7 off for an average starter, £25 for what we got served was awful. Will not be revisiting.

Then we ordered food, after about another 30 mins the food turned up but there were only 3 out of 4 meals, my Burger was missing. The waiter came up and said unfortunately there had been a mix up and my order hadn't been taken. I was fuming by now and asked to speak to the manager. I gave him a piece of my mind and eventually my meal came. He said he would come back later to see if everything was alright. Great atmosphere and lovely staff but that’s about it. The food was very poor. I ordered the crispy squid starter for around £7.00 and was surprised to receive 5 small bits thrown onto some lettuce. They tasted very nice with the accompanying sauce but such a shock portion wise and presentation. I mentioned it to our server and she said other people had complained about the same thing before but the management won’t do anything about it. The chicken I had for my main course was dry and obviously microwaved. The whole meal was just average, something I could cook at home, and overpriced. My boyfriend was going to have the lamb shanks but decided against it at over £31.00! A bit much for a country pub. He had ham, egg and chips which were very over cooked. A massive disappointment for somewhere with such potential. It’s changed hands recently and the quality has declined significantly. Our server said she’d mentioned my complaints to the manager (who’d just returned to the pub but was off duty). She said the best thing to do was to write an email and that he was expecting my email. I’m still waiting for a response 5 days later. I was willing to give the place another try but I won’t bother now.

Been a couple of times before and was lovely unfortunately it has changed significantly since then to our recent visit. We ordered the fish pie and Apple crumble the fish pie was nice extremely hot lots of sauce but not much fish the accompanying veg was minimal and cold. The crumble arrived with burnt topping you could smell it was burnt and it tasted burnt we sent it back we received another that was still burnt with the advice that it was dark sugar and dark flour we knew it was burnt but gave the waitress the benefit of doubt it tasted burnt even with the custard we left most of it. The food is extremely expensive and very little choice unless you are a raging carnivore. The waitress was lovely and very friendly and accommodating the male waiter appeared distracted and when asked for sauce and water he forgot the water. The atmosphere is relaxing the lighting is good you don’t feel rushed but the tables are very close and if you have a person with a loud voice sitting close by then it’s not relaxing unfortunately due to the prices and quod the food we won’t be returning we have booked elsewhere for our Christmas reunion

Sunday lunch 2 weeks ago. Initially staff very good..taking drinks order, then food orders. 2nd round of drinks took much too long to arrive. Meals also took a long time to be served. Sunday roast beef dinner very disappointing at £20 ! needs to improve substantially to warrant that price. On our table, best meals were Nut Roast, Fish and Chips, Beef Burger. Although all were overpriced. 3rd drinks, had to ask 3 times, was told bar had a lot of orders? Sweets ..Crumble OK, Toffee pudding Sponge dry. Overall Very disappointed and expensive.

No complaints about service, the menu or the way the food was cooked and served. So why the average rating? Purely due to the cost of drinks and some of the food. £7.85 for a glass of wine, fish pie at £18.75 and £3.40 for an expresso. This is a pub, a nice one but not exceptional. I would happily return here but can get much better value elsewhere for these prices. The pub was fairly empty on a Wednesday evening.........I wonder why?

Gone downhill! We returned after a great experience a couple of years ago only to be disappointed. We showed the waiter the two course/three course set price menu advertised online only to be told it was no longer available. The Camembert starter ordered arrived cold and had to be sent back. The roast was average and the Yorkshire pudding was quite literally a slice of raw batter and inedible. Unfortunately we won’t be returning, especially considering the prices are high.

Not impressed really. After a 13 hour shift I just wanted a good steak (med- well done) and it was solid and for just shy of £40 for a steak a few chips which was swimming in grease and 1 pint wasn't up to scratch so it's a place I won't be going again

20 of us went to the Blue bell inn for our twin daughters 18th Birthday meal and we couldn’t fault it. The food was amazing and the staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive. We had a really good night. We’ve ate at the Bluebell numerous times and have always had great food and great service.

We have just had probably the worst possible meal given that we had invited our friend from the north for dinner here. The calamari was 7 no bigger than hoola hoop size pieces in a very bland sauce weren’t crispy as advertised and basically exemely disappointing. The prawn cocktail was very overpriced 2 large prawns and a scattering of of broken shrimps. The pie had 3 pieces of meat half an inch square and pastry like the sole of a shoe. The chips were pre cooked pro so the day before ( rock hard) the tiny portion of coleslaw had a skin over the top they were that old. The base of one of the burgers was burnt and had obviously been scraped! And the meat was dry and overcooked. The ketchup was tiny and waters down. When my friend remonstrated with the waitress she looked so battlescarred and weary that we stopped and felt for her. We left never to return!!!

On arrival we were shown to our table promptly. It was 6:30 on a Saturday night so not too busy. Drinks were ok but my beer went flat very quickly! I had a pie and my wife chicken which were both very nice. Service was not quick but not slow. The Bread and butter pudding we ordered for dessert was awful. I don't know where the chef got their recipe from but I have never had such a dry pudding before. The bread seemed to be straight from the packet with the crusts cut off. Not going back any time soon.

Went to the Blue Bell Inn this afternoon to celebrate my fathers 65th birthday and was left disappointed and will not be returning. Was our first time here and was very excited at the prospect of a GF adaptable roast dinner option for myself being coeliac. However, when the food arrived the adaptation was taking off the Yorkshire pudding and so was left with 2 slices of meat, 1/2 a carrot and 2 dry roast potatoes. Think if something is having to be removed from a meal, then it should be substituted with more potatoes/ carrots in future as the price was the same. Took us 30 minutes of being there for someone to come over and take our food order and then when the food arrived, our 1 year olds chicken goujons were burnt and my brothers roast dinner never arrived. Took almost another 30 minutes for the redo of the burnt food to come back out and my brothers food to arrive. When his roast did arrive, it was missing the Yorkshire and we were only given 1 serving of veg and cauliflower cheese between 4 people which was cold by this point. None of the food that came out was overly hot so had to ask for more gravy to make it warmer. Wasn’t asked if we wanted any condiments until we had nearly finished eating and we had all practically finished eating by the time my brothers correct food came. Decided against having another drink or pudding as refuse to give my custom to a business that doesn’t care. When we asked for the bill, 20% had been deducted without us even asking to try and compensate for the poor service and food, but this was a very disappointing visit especially for a birthday treat. Will not be returning and would not recommend.

Took my partners grandparents for a Sunday roast, 1st time we’ve taken his grandad out in a while as he has been in hospital. We all ordered fine and the waiting staff were friendly but the food came 40 minutes later and was horrendous. All of the 6 meals were terrible. The £17 pork belly was literally finger size, 2 half sized roast potatoes were rock hard and boiled, the Yorkshire resembled more of a frisbee and there was 1 half of a sliced carrot on each plate. Obviously we asked to speak to a manager and the waitress returned and said relayed the managers offer of replacing the meals. Why would you become a manager of a pub if you are unable to come and speak to customers directly? We declined and left without paying, it ruined the day which was mostly upsetting as our grandparents were looking forward to this for a long time. Won’t be returning. Do better please.

The only way to describe it is truly awful. We went for a Sunday lunch with family and had the worst experience. No one came to take our drinks order so had to go to find a staff member, then no one came to take the food order so again had to go find a member of staff. We all ordered Sunday roasts, waited 50 minutes for it to arrive and then when it did it was the most appalling dinner. There was barely any meant on the plate, one roast potato which couldn't be cut through as it was so raw and one raw carrot, the Yorkshire was a slice of batter quite literally. After complaining and asking for the manager they never came over so we ended up leaving. Never ever will be go back here, really awful service and food. Pub is also extremely run down and not nice/clean at all.

Food was ok when it eventually arrived (over an hour). The cause seemed to be the large party of 20 people with children that were booked in. This party had a negative effect on the atmosphere (children running around) as well as the speed of service. The chairs on our table were ripped, torn and stained, the men's toilet was out of order. Hadn't visited for a couple of years (we're local) and won't ever be visiting again.

Disappointing. The service is virtually non-existent. Long wait for food. No check back to see if everything was OK. No one came and asked if we wanted more drinks. No one asked if we wanted desserts. Food arrived with no cutlery. Food was OK - on the expensive side. Staff appeared to not care less about serving customers.

Visited here for dinner on a Monday evening. Food was absolutely delicious. There was a bit of a mix up with our starters and the food took a while to come - but the staff were brilliant and were super attentive - which more than made up for it. Also do great takeaway pizzas too! Definitely worth a visit.

Have frequented the bluebell for a number of years, the food has seriously declined. Steak sandwich on the smallest ciabatta and the chicken sandwich is the thinnest greasiest ‘chicken’ I’ve ever seen. This isn’t the first time we’ve been disappointed with the food in recent months

Disappointing. Had pate as a starter - served in a jar (?) very solid and not enough toast and butter. Had the lamb for a main, could have been superb but way too much pepper which completely spoilt it ( my friend had the same and agreed). Not cheap so expected better.

What a shame. We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday and having recently been disappointed with another local establishment we decided to give the Blue Bell a try. Part of 9. Drinks service good. Food took an hour and a half from ordering and arrived cold. Manager said they had a party of 35 so hence the delay. Extremely disappointing. Won’t go back

Nice meal but the fish pie had cubes of fish which were dry and a little unappetising, Which is a shame because the sauce was lovely. The potato on the top of the pie was also dry. Would have been a million times better if it were mash and piped on in my opinion. My husbands burger was lovely though.
