Post bike ride drink on a Wednesday night, great pub with very friendly bar staff, will be back to try the food, menu looked good.

We received a warm welcome. Food was superb and reasonable priced. Would recommend

Had lunch at this pub today along with my brother and sister. Good variety on the menu, friendly staff and above all great food with generous portions. I had the mixed grill which was simply fabulous and served piping hot. We will definitely be returning.

Firstly times posted in Google are wrong!! Food is served 12 til 2.30pm week and 12 til 4 at weekends. The service is excellent as is the food. But best of all I turned up with my Dad in a Wheelchair the manager came out and put the ramp down So we could get in. Brilliant really recommend it

Lovely setting, fab garden which is fenced in. Great for families. Dogs welcome on leads. Food was excellent,good portions and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Just had another brilliant meal at the Blue Ball, the food served here is excellent. The pub is in a lovely setting and well worth a visit.

Because we were going to visit family in Chesham, we asked if we could spend the night here with our camper. The owner was so friendly and immediately reserved a spot for us. After arrival we enjoyed drinks on the terrace. We felt welcome and had a great night's sleep! Thank you! Looking forward to next time!

This blue ball is an absolute gem! Stunning location, great food and has an excellent selection of beers and ales! I visit it with family and friends as many times as I can!

I have a few hiking routes that pass The Blue Ball. I take clients here once every 4-6 weeks as it’s about the halfway point to rest up, eat and drink before we continue. On a recent private group hike, we arrived at 11.30am with 6 people including a child. Sat in the garden and a few of us proceeded inside to order food, and were told the kitchen doesn’t open until midday but we can order cold drinks for now. So I ordered a soda while the rest waited to order tea/coffee with the food. While we waited for the kitchen to open, a guest pulled out some food from his backpack and placed it on the table. We had walked 6 miles so this isn’t an unusual behaviour for someone to have a bite while they waited. Within seconds the landlord came outside screaming and shouting at us about only ordering one drink and using his premises. I mean, he was seriously angry and very very disrespectful. I explained to him what we’d been told by his partner and we were waiting for the kitchen to open. He proceeded to treat us very disrespectfully and kick us out. Yes, he asked us to get out! This was a group of hiking tourists from abroad ready to spend money. They’d already spent lots at a cafe where we started the hike in the morning. They were appalled to say the least. I have brought regular, big groups of hikers here who have spent lots of money here over the last two years. Never again! I’ve guided and trekked all over the world and never have I been treated like this in my entire life and certainly not in front of my clients. From now on, The Blue Ball has been struck off my list of local places in The Chilterns to give business to! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED. GO ONLY IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE SCUM.

Great pub, excellent food, big choice, friendly staff

A lovely place, a bit out in "the wilds" 😃, to have a lunchtime drink and light meal.

Good experience - went for Sunday Lunch today - called earlier but was told they only take bookings for 6+. So went on the off chance - this is an order from the bar pub - they were a bit pushed as only 2 ladies taking orders and doing drinks - and one chap clearing tables - however they found us a table and we had drinks and roasts which were very good indeed and excellent value - staff were very pleasant after the initial rush - A nice pub and we’ll certainly go again - big outside area with space for children .

Traditional English pub with excellent food (currently just serving a lunchtime menu). Large outdoor space serves well in the summer, where trekkers can enjoy a well earned pint between lovely country walks. Keep an eye on the pubs Facebook page for special events; for example a stage is erected for the summer months and there are live bands scheduled.

Having taken the trouble to book a table it was not ideal to be shown to the back area of seating by the closed carvery and next to the toilets, very cold. The food was at best mediocre and the lamb short rib was so spicy it was inedible. Winter slaw is not just left over freezing cold red cabbage...for £22.50 hugely disappointing. The manager, a young blonde lady was rude and made no effort to rectify the situation....we have been before but will now never return.

Fantastic little pub, good food and choice of drinks. It's home to our MX-5 car meet, and the owners have always been receiving us well. Would recommend for a nice pub lunch or dinner.

We came here on a group walk for lunch. The seating was a bit tight but it was a busy Sunday. There's a good range on the menu with the addition of roast dinner on a Sunday including a nut roast. I had the nut roast which was delicious. The portion sizes were great and everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was pretty quick especially considering it was so busy.

Nice pub in a country side. Initially while driving up to the location felt like going in a road which takes me no where. But once reached wonderful. Thanks to Margaret, Carl And also MX5 Club Great time with many new friends.

This is a great traditional pub and the team are very welcoming. Huge garden and garden furniture that is comfortable and sturdy. Best but and a lesson a lot of pubs can learn from, the non alcoholic drinks prices are not a rip off. Not tried the food but what was coming out to other tables looked substantial. Oh, and there is sport on in the bar and very dog friendly.

This is a traditional English pub both inside and out with a large garden. A good range of well kept beers and by far the best for no nonsense food at sensible prices. A regular place to visit.

Just been for a meal here with wife and mum. We had scampi and cod meals (£13 each) huge portions and very hot, lovely salad included. It would have been five stars but it has lost its mojo. The chef looked scruffy, the guy bringing the food to the table clearly didn't want to be there and was also scruffy wearing shorts. He also hovered nearby and as soon as the last person put down their cutlery he scooped up the plates. I sensed there was a strange atmosphere

Excellent food as usual, always served hot, a generous plate of food (unusual nowadays). Very good value, lovely location, plenty of space to eat inside and outside with a big garden for kids to play. What more can I say, except save a table for me.

The Blue Ball have really been accommodating over the last few months, allowing us to park our RV in the car park, so we can get things sorted out and move her to a new location. They are also great hosts wirh friendly staff who serve amazing midday meals..!

Met up with friends for Sunday lunch. Great value Roast dinner. Choice of Lamb, Chicken, Beef. 3 veg roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Would definitely recommend.

Had a very nice meal, large bit of gammon about 10 ozs egg pineapple garden peas chips and salad all for £12.00 washed down with a pint in the garden, great will be calling again sometime soon

have stopped here a few times when out walking with my regular group for beers- This time i took the good lady for something to eat - Sat in the large garden and i had the ploughmans - if you lime cheese i think this was the biggest piece i have ever had on a ploughmans. We will return

Massive food portions all very hot and fresh and excellent value. Typical pub grub plus some unusual stuff like haggis. Came with a pre-book group event and the place was packed. Worth coming again on our own.

The food is plentiful, fresh, hot and nicely arranged on the plate. There is a spacious pub garden in a secluded area. Very pretty location, off the track. Pleasant staff and different wines,beers, cider to choose from.

Lovely place with some great pub grub and the drinks are good too. The outdoor space is great for dining with some covered parts sheltering us from the trickle of rain. Plenty of space also for little ones to run around and enjoy themselves without disturbing other customers. Didnt spot it on the day, but something to help with cleaning muddy boots would have been helpful although I appreciate the need to take boots off before entering the establishment. Will be back here again in tbe future.

Absolutely lovely pub surrounded by countryside. The menu had a great selection to choose from and the servings are huge. I enjoyed the roast pork and my husband can't stop raving about the mixed grill. We will definitely be back.

We were recommended this pub, for the roast dinners, and we were not disappointed. The best and closest to home cooking as I've ever had. Very nice atmosphere, Carl was very nice talks to everyone and obviously has many returning and regular customers. We will definitely return and fully recommend this gem.

The Blue Ball is a traditional country pub set in beautiful Chiltern countryside. Great walking country, great pub and great food. Have visited over thirty years and always quality.

Sunday roast was amazing, Roast Beef, Venison and a Nut Roast all excellent and to round it off the desserts were also very good. Pub was packed yet still the service was brilliant.

Friendly pub with good standard of pub grub and mix of ales and ciders. Some reviews said the service was not friendly, but the lady that served us was lovely. Big garden so nice for kids and sunny days.

We have been here three times in the last two months and as ever we have not been disappointed. A good selection of draught beers are served, plus the food is always fresh, wholesome, good portions, whilst being cooked and presented to a very good standard. Great to see that the proprietor's have survived the pandemic shut down period, and were able to continue to serve the public with covid rules in place. The challenge of re-opening and having to provide table service for all, whilst having to find new reliable staff could not have been easy. All I can say is Well Done, and may it always continue.

Lovely to sit out side and enjoy the view. Lunch was excellent however the sea bass was not to my grandsons liking , will definitely come again.

Lovely country pub with a friendly and welcoming team. Food is excellent and great value for money - you will never go home hungry here!! Cosy bar area with tables around the corner as well as plenty of seating outside. Lovely peaceful spot if you enjoy listening to the birds and the sounds of the countryside.

Our first-ever visit to the Blue Ball was at lunch-time today. Lovely setting, excellent food (with big portions), great beer (London Pride), friendly & efficient staff. We'll definitely be going back and recommending it to friends.

Another great village pub. Had lunch and ordered the 'small' chips. Couldn't eat it all. Great grub, great ale - what more could you want?

Been going here for years because the food is good and there’s a lovely big garden for the children to run around but today’s visit will be my last. I can no longer put up with the grumpy, rude service. I asked 3 times to order drinks and was forgotten about, I’ve never seen the staff smile and it seems that wanting to spend money there is an inconvenience to all. I think they’re complacent that the food is good and the location is beautiful that they don’t need to bother with customer service. The younger staff members are fine but the man and woman who seem to own it should go into a different line of business

Drinks service was decent, but we had to wait a while / call for attention to order food. I had the chilli con carne. I got a good plate of rice and chilli, a handful of tortilla chips and some cheese. It was a bit on the bland side but nice - inoffensive. We sat around after eating for a bit. The atmosphere was pleasant, area felt quite spacious despite quite a few other families being there. Overall, I had a nice time and I'd come here to eat again!

Super nice and friendly pub! I go there whenever I am in the area. They were very kind and even swapped coleslaw for peas when I asked if it was possible.

First time back after lockdown. Food still great. This place is a hidden gem.

Lovely lunch at our local pub. Asheridge fried chicken delicious, as was the haggis. Always service with a smile, in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

We have been several times in September and during lockdown used the take away service. Each time it has been fresh and well organised. The food and drink well priced and wholesome. One downside is the irascible resident four paws who can be a little snappy, to visiting 4 paws. But that won't stop us returning as often as possible.

Lovely evening . Very friendly staff. The fish and chips was the best option at £12. The scampi was good as was the gammon. I had the ribs which was more expensive at £14 and had a ‘just emptied out the packet and warmed up’ look about it . It tasted good - and the salad coleslaws and chips were great but the ribs needed to have seen a hot oven to get that bbq/burnt look to them. We would have bought a couple of extra drinks but were never approached by staff . The pub was clean, lots of covid precautions and a little old dog wandering around checking the floor for crumbs.I’ve been here before - and will definitely be back.

Visited with adult family on a Saturday evening. Covid secure with all staff wearing PPE. Prebooked table over the phone. Food brought quickly. Scampi gammon and cod all perfect with amazing salad. Ribs were very processed and not crisped up. Meals £12-14. Very generous portions and well presented. No problem parking. Recommend to anyone if you don't mind the country lanes.
