17/09/2020: We had a great evening here. Everything was quite excellent, from the charming staff, the very reassuring safety precautions, the relaxed ambiance and, of course, the superb food. We were presented with some truly marvellous sourdough focaccia, which was so great that my companion requested the recipe from the chef, Our starter of charred mackerel, radish, ginger and champagne was very flavoursome, beautifully balanced and quite delicious. I can honestly say, that my main of Cornish turbot, kale, girolles and Jacqueline sauce was exquisite and the finest turbot I’ve ever eaten. The Jacqueline sauce was absolutely beautiful, unique and complemented the fish perfectly. My companion’s Wiltshire lamb, baby artichokes, confit fennel, lemon and rosemary jus merited equally eulogistic comments. My delicate Yorkshire strawberry dessert rounded off this marvellous repast with a flourish. My companion reported that her cheese was very well kept indeed. We much enjoyed our bottle of St Emilion and were impressed by the wine list which offered some very thought-provoking selections. I can’t praise this restaurant highly enough. Cooking is very accomplished, innovative and extremely interesting and undoubtedly I shall return.
15/09/2020: Really liked the building and the layout of the restaurant. There is plenty of free parking on-site for visitors. Temperatures are taken on arrival and guests are shown to their tables, which are well spaced. The staff all wear PPE.We were visiting for lunch and we close the al la carte menu. We also had an option to choose the tasting menu. The al la carte has about 5 choices for each course and included a vegetarian choice. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. The choice is a little limited so this was a limiting factor for us. One of our party could not find anything on the starter of dessert menu that she liked. We also found the lamb a bit fatty - as portion sizes are not overly generous, it was a little disappointing that if you do not like fat in your meat that the edible portion is reduced further. The beef, however, was delicious.Service during our visit was very friendly and helpful. It was slower than we are used to but as we were in no hurry that day, it was fine. The restaurant has a very extensive wine list and drinks menu.Overall, it's a relatively expensive outing, the food is very good and it is worth a visit.
