St Margaret's Tavern in Richmond upon Thames

This place is amazing! Such a sparkling gem on the outskirts of Richmond. Amazing staff and amazing pub Manager who made herself known and available for conversation! 5 starts all over!!

Great for sporting events, food a bit slow coming out even when it wasn't busy we had to ask where the food was but generally like the atmosphere and location. UPDATE Nov 2024 - Popped in to watch an autumn international rugby game on the TV and it was a whopping £7.80 a pint, possible rugby day mark up with England playing at home but surely remove it for locals on production of a Richmond card or proof of address. It's put me off going there and I've been doing it for years on rugby days.

Lovely staff, great pub grub and a wonderful space to catch up with friends. A special shout out to the tall blond lad behind the bar who was so attentive and friendly when we visited between Christmas and New Years.

It's beautiful. I would love this to be closer to where I live. Staff were ok but could be friendlier.

What a great pub! We held our Christmas party there for around 40 people and it was a great success on every level.

Love this pub! Proper local - food is good, great selection of drinks and the staff are amazing (esp Maisie, Brandon, Dan, Sam, Ihor, Weronika and GM Glenda). Cannot recommend enough!

Increíblemente este pub pidió identificación para mi hija a pesar de que solo queríamos una comida con amigos. Tuvimos que irnos para encontrar un lugar alternativo. El pub dice que es familiar, pero claramente no lo es. Tal vez esto es sólo cuando les conviene. No estoy seguro de que alguna vez me hayan dejado de comer en un pub con mis hijos. Esta es la primera vez. Bien hecho. No volveré.

Nunca antes en la historia de asistir a eventos deportivos hemos pagado más por cerveza en un pub de lo que costaba en el suelo. Viendo el "ambiente" en la calle M antes del partido en Twickenham pagamos el precio AUMENTADO POR EL PARTIDO para Guinness. Somos de Shropshire así que no estamos familiarizados con los precios de Londres. Sorprendido en el suelo donde el Guinness era más barato. ¡No volveré a visitar un pub Greene King favorito!

Hoy fuimos a StMargrets Tavern antes del rugby , realmente sorprendidos de que pudiéramos conseguir una mesa para el almuerzo . Pedí comida. Había 2 camareras cubriendo todo el lugar. Después de 1 hora y sin comida nos fuimos. Algo ha cambiado en el pub, mal servicio no hay barbacoa exterior para la gente que asiste al rugby.

It’s truly a shame to see what has happened to what was once a great local. Last night's experience was incredibly disappointing. Made to look like an idiot and was completely neglected. Thoroughly ruined my Friday night. The atmosphere, which used to feel warm and welcoming, now completely uninviting. Additionally, I can’t help but notice the suspiciously positive reviews below. They simply don’t reflect the reality of my experience, leading me to believe they might not be genuine. It’s disheartening to see a pub I used to love deteriorate in such a way.

I was in St. Margaret's Tavern when visiting the area and I must say it was a really pleasant experience. The pub has a very pleasant atmosphere - traditional, cozy decor that gives it character. The perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The staff is very nice and helpful. The service was quick and waitresses and waiters always ready to help. The menu offers a wide selection of dishes and drinks - from classic pub dishes to more sophisticated options. I especially recommend the fish and chips and homemade burgers - they were delicious and fresh. It is also worth mentioning the wide selection of beers, both local and imported, which means you can find something for yourself, regardless of your preferences. Location St. Margaret's Tavern is also a plus - easy access to the city center, so it's a great place to rest after walking. I definitely recommend this place to both people looking for relaxation and those who want to try traditional pub cuisine in a nice atmosphere.

Great place I visited thanks to an invitation from friends! We parked our cars in a large parking area, so finding a spot was no problem. Inside, the decor was really interesting and made a great impression right away. The staff took care of us quickly – very friendly and professional. The dishes were truly delicious, well-seasoned, and everything was top-notch. An extra bonus is that you can watch a live football match – the perfect spot for an evening out with friends! I’ll definitely be back, even if just for a beer 🍻😁👍

Opted for the Sunday roast. Beef was a little tough, but food was lovely overall. Good roast potatoes, which is a rare find. Service was a bit slow, but waitress was friendly and helpful. If it wasn't for these few of issues, I would have given 5 stars.

We had our son's birthday party there. When I arrived, the venue was arranged precisely as I had wanted it. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout. We had a magician/entertainer for the children, and the kids had enough space for all activities while parents were chatting around them. The kids' food was excellent. I highly recommend this Tavern.

We ate burgers and were very disappointed. The menu looked appealing, but the reality was very different. The food was cold, the meat was dry, and there were almost no ingredients we had ordered. We had to wait a long time, and the table service was very slow and disorganized.

Just popped in for a drink and a snack, for 3 of us, perfect setting nice place. We where in the main bar but there is a large dining area looks very suitable for families.

Incredible staff and good food. Love to use this place for family or friends events, very spacious and lovely place to hangout. The only drawback in here is that there aren’t enough dog bawls as 3-5 dog bawls isn’t enough for such huge pub, otherwise this pub is absolutely fabulous for me and my kids.

I've been a regular here for months and it only now occurred to me to leave a review. My first time here I was met with a lovely employee named Ihor whom since, I've had some great conversations with. Together with the relaxing atmosphere it provides fantastic customer service and safe to say it never disappoints with the selection of drinks. 10/10 would recommend and if you're looking for a heartfelt conversation, seek my friend Ihor.

Great 1st stop on our Budapest holiday, great service, great atmosphere, good music and the food was lovely. I do now have hairs on my chest from the Palinka, but we did get a complimentary water chaser to wash it down with 😅 Richard was our waiter and he was great, good sense of humour and very attentive. Didn't catch his name but the guy behind the bar was nice to look at aswell 😉.

Met a friend for a drink after a long time and this pub created the perfect atmosphere. Great selection of drinks, tasty food and outstanding service. Highly recommended.

Today was our first visit to the Crown restaurant. We were greeted with a welcoming smile from the manageress who was lovely. Our meals were delicious 😋. I had the smoked haddock with creamy mash, and greens in a lovely sauce, the fish was topped with a perfect poached egg. My friend had a very tasty roast chicken dish with crispy roast potatoes and greens with proper gravy. We would highly recommend The Crown, and we will return.

Walked in. Asked if doing food. Told yes. Ordered drinks. Went to order food, told chef has gone on lunch for an hour. Went to chippie over road. Sat outside ro eat them. Manager refused to allow us to eat at outside table. Explained situation. Told we should have wanted the hour for the food. Don't tell customers (with children) that you are doing food then refuse them food AFTER allowing them to purchase drinks. Disgraceful service.

What has happened? Stopped here for a drink and decided to stay for Sunday lunch as it had started to rain. After an hour of waiting for our starters, we asked where our food was. We were told it would be at least another 30 mins as there was only one person working in the kitchen. This place used to do great food (for a Greene King), now it seems they do no food!

I have been coming here for years and it hasn’t always been great. Happily, this weekend, it was great! We had a lovely lunch, served by attentive, friendly staff. The menus was small but all of our party enjoyed their meals and Maisie our server went above and beyond to accommodate us and make everyone feel welcome.

Bè good if thier deliver driver didn't block the entrance of the carpark for 15 minutes. Couldn't leave for a very important meeting.

Last Sunday, we visited a nice place and sat in the outdoor area. It felt really good there! The food and drinks were wonderful. I don't eat meat, so I had a tasty mac and cheese, and my friends had a roast. We also had a friend who eats only plant-based foods, and a very kind staff member, Elena, helped them pick out something delicious to eat. My friends also got to watch a football game. I think you should go, especially with more sunny days coming – it's a good idea to spend time in the outdoor garden.

Visited for a family lunch due to the convenient parking and general good pub ambience. General service was friendly and good. Food was mediocre with certain aspects of all guests meals being poor, undercooked veg in the roast, cold centre to pie and unseasoned chips, no mustard available for the roast beef. Coffee machine not working, no soap on the gents bathrooms and toilet roll dispenser not working in the ladies. Overall not a disastrous visit but will be looking for an alternative next time.

This is an enormous pub with lots of different areas. Great selection of beer and wine and the menu is great. Excellent place to come for large gatherings

I like this pub as it’s close by to home, but it’s so inconsistent. Closing at random times during the week, as early as 10.15pm on one occasion. The kitchen also closing at random times - we were told it was open until 9pm (we asked at 8.20pm) and tried to order food at 8.30pm, only to be told it’s closed! We have stopped going now because it’s just super annoying and you never know how long you get to stay for. It’s a shame because it’s a nice pub and the staff are always nice but it would be nicer if they stuck to their advertised opening times so we don’t waste time going there if they’re just going to close.

The place was fairly quiet, but with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were great. The reason that I have only given St Margaret's Tavern three stars is that the food was mediocre at best. My friend had fish and chips, I had natchos. We both left a lot on our plates due to it not being tempting enough to eat. The drinks were well served.

We had an amazing experience today at St Margaret Tavern. I order a Sunday roast beef, which was delicious and on time and my husband tried one of their special dishes, roasted confit duck leg, after the recommendation of the lovely manager. We celebrate our special day in a lovely and warm environment. Thank you for making our day more special.

Beautiful place to eat with your family. Friendly staff and delicious food. The place is children friendly and has a beautiful terrace, and if you are there in sunny day it's the best spot to stay.

First time visitor of St. Margaret’s amazing location, amazing service. A great selection of gin and Really customer oriented.

Ordered a Sirloin of beef roast dinner. It came to me really quickly hence the reason it was stone cold. The plate was cold and so was everything on it. The roast potatoes were not crisp either. I sent it back immediately. I was given a meal back that was acceptable (potatoes still not roasted) but I shall not be picking the St Margaret's for food in the future based on this experience.

Booked for the Quins Big Match, 12 people, the only thing on offer was a beef burger…nothing else…the manager then has the audacity to say sorry we didn’t order enough food…it was THE RUGBY…what do you expect???..it was 2pm…never ever again!

According to the app this a Greene king sports pub. It is not. Wasted journey.

3 families booked in advance for lunch ahead of the Quins Big Game 15. So, they knew we were coming. We were told the only things on the menu were burgers, scotch eggs and a baked Camembert…and the wait would be over 45 mins. Other people in the pub said they had been waiting for over 2 hours and were fetching their food from the pass themselves. We left. It was chaotic. The fish and chip shop on the other side of the road…came to the rescue brilliantly.

This was the best Sunday Roast I've had in ages. I chose the pork with crunchy crackling. My friend had the beef which was, apparently, delicious too. Both meals accompanied by a Yorkshire pud, roasties and five veg. The staff were friendly and not phased that I was drinking cups of tea rather than a proper drink!

Always seems to have an issue with the taps and the the smells of sewage coming out of the toilets. At £7.50 a pint you'd expect better frankly.

Nice pub. Rude bar staff. Guy from Newcastle area was horrible. Really rude to myself and my friends. Won’t be back. The other staff were lovely however
