The Adelaide in Richmond upon Thames

The Adelaide doesn’t even look much like a pub from the outside but go in and it’s very traditional. We went for Sunday lunch and were very impressed. The quality of the vegetables was especially good, a tricky thing to achieve with a traditional roast. And it was very good value. Two and a bottle of wine came to £35 a head. There us also a lovely garden but it might be a while before it’s warm enough to eat out. We are planning another visit before then.

It's a lovely traditional pub, kept immaculately clean and well looked after. For lunch I had the chicken curry: a large portion of very tasty food. Friendly staff..

My wife and I visit The Adelaide regularly, often with friends, as it is our favourite pub to visit for lunch. The food is excellent from a very varied menu and there is a good choice of wines and beers. The interior is a traditional English pub and there is plenty of covered seating for drinking or dining in the garden. The whole premises, including the loos, are spotlessly clean. It is dog-friendly should you wish to combine your visit with a walk in the nearby Bushy Park. Mariana, the owner, has a great sense of humour and is always up for a bit of banter. Overall, I would recommend the pub as a great place to visit.

Didn't eat but enjoyed a quiet but good atmosphere. Shannon was welcoming and efficient.. Great advert as she chatted with those who wanted to and offered great service.

The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. However, the roast dinner wasn’t great… the gravy is poured all over and watery. We ordered 3 roasts and had to share the veggies between us which we were confused about.. cauliflower cheese was not cheesey at all. The whole roast had zero flavour and very disappointing.

Wonderful, traditional, cozy, classic pub, with great, warm, friendly service and a terrific, extensive and interesting menu. Lots of drink choices. Always something on. Music some nights and games. Nice garden. Super staff. The locals' place. 👍

A nice traditional pub between Teddington town centre and Bushy Park. It had a nice garden and a small amount of seating outside the front too. There is a good beer selection from the Shepherd Neame stable too. We came on a Sunday and had a roast and the Cajun chicken baguette. Both were reasonably priced and very good. The menu is very much along the lines of homely dishes. Staff seemed a bit stressed on the day, although the lady who said she was the manager was friendly. Would definitely return. Update: Following a more recent visit now changing to 3/5 rather than 4/5. The food was very average on the most recent visit. The meaty pie didn’t have much taste to it and it had no gravy and were told the gravy was inside the pie, with the mash on its own. The chicken madras was slightly inferior to a Spoons curry, but came in at £15.75. It was really poor value for money. That’s before 10% is added for service even if ordering at the bar. A pint and soft drink was over £10 so that was expensive too. Unfortunately all these things combined mean I won’t be hurrying back. It’s becoming overpriced and the price quality is declining. Hopefully things improve, but not sure I’ll give it another chance in the near future.

This is a good boozer with pub food - a great traditional pub that retains its character and hasn’t had the fancy makeover that would make it like every other pub. If you want a gastro pub with expensive and pretty food go elsewhere but if you want a great local pub with friendly staff led by landlady Marianne then this is the place for you. Recommend the steak if you want to eat - it’s better than you’ll get in other places locally and will cost more. The prawn cocktail is really nice too. It’s popular on Sundays for the roast dinner too. In summer the garden is the best in the area. And ladies if you want somewhere you can feel comfortable on your own this is the place.

Stopped for a quick refreshing drink after a walk in bushy Park They a real friendly and the food looks good and it's very well priced will definitely come back and have some food

A peaceful pub with a TV for sports, and a good-sized upstairs room suitable for parties and functions. They are kind enough to host an open mic poetry evening on the first Sunday of every month. Any pub supporting poetry gets my vote!

New review Had the veggie roast meal, I didn't ask what it was and I should have done. Toad in the hole is not a roast for me. So I was a little disappointed, it tasted fine, but I was expecting a nut or lentil loaf. Old review Stopped for a Sunday roast. Three meat eaters and 2 veggies. Everyone was happy with their meal. Night out to watch friends band, breath of fresh air to have lovely friendly bar staff, with no waiting around and getting ignored like most bars, actually felt like they were giving a service as opposed to feeling like there doing you a favour, great food, I had the vegetarian nachos, with chickpeas, the best I’ve ever had, lovely bar and recommended

Nice friendly pub. Bit annoying that the opening hours in Google and on their website are wrong. Listed as 22:30 on Sunday but we go there at 21:20 and it was already closed. Anyway, still one of the better pubs in Teddington if you prefer a proper pub than a dressed up one :-)

Ordered fish and chips that showed ‘ Home made batter’ on Sunday 5th November. The dish arrived, l immediately noticed the batter looked flat and dark brown in appearance which l thought was a frozen product. The chips looked good and feeling hungry l decided to ignore the fact this is a frozen product and cut into the fish which felt tough, l then touched the fish and noticed it was cold (Still frozen). I politely said to the manager who immediately said’ What do you want me to do about it’?’ ; try an apology first of all! The attitude of the attitude of the ‘ manager’ or excuse for an employee with a glorified title stunk worse than the frozen fish! The fish was served still frozen; l can’t imagine how sick this would have made me. Terrible food and attitude of pretend manager!

Sorry, the fish and chips was awful, inedible deep fried fish in terrible brittle batter! Also Moretti at £7.20 per pint is daylight robbery. Not a happy experience at all..

OK, so I know I'm quite generous with my marks, but The Adelaide deserves 5 stars across the board, for its fabulous food, great service, well served ales and lovely patio garden to enjoy our meal in. Four of us dined in today, three of us hitting the steak and kidney pudding from the large specials menu, one on the vege lasagne and here I have to admit to a mistake, I added side orders too. Oh my goodness, the puds were huge and all served with mash and a three vegetable side dish. Just looking at that you knew the sides were in trouble, but everything on the plates was gorgeous, fresh cooked, none of this microwave malarkey, so we couldn't leave the sides could we.... they were equally excellent. After a rest, desert had to be considered, but it was a case of 2 dishes, 4 spoons for the lovely apple & rhubarb crumble, with custard of course... no heathens in our party. So all that and a couple of drinks, all for £105, awesome value for the quality of food and service. Here I'll share a secret, my final measure of an establishment are the loos, and gentlemen, we know what we're talking about here, but these were sparkling clean, fresh looking and smelling, so rare in pubs nowadays to ensure such attention is paid to the facilties. If I could have given it 6 stars I would have, just excellent, congratulations to the team there.

Nice enough pub but £6 70 for a pint of amstel! That's the most expensive I've ever had and that includes going into central London!

Fairly large comfortable if somewhat generic Shepherd Name pub with a reasonable sized outside area, some with comfortable seating and some with less so. There were 3 ales and I had a pint of Whitstable Bay Pale Ale which was in good condition. I thought the pub seemed expensive but I have been told that the prices are fairly average for the area.

The bar service is always great and friendly but had a Sunday roast there recently and the servings were so small on small plates I thoughtv they got it wrong as a children's meal... it was over cooked and if have never had such watery gravy,. So not an English version of a Sunday roast so won't be ordering again

An authentic English pub for this Canadian to enjoy! My cider and his ale were just right after our first day playing tourist at Hampton Court Palace. The Meaty Pie with veg on the side was piping hot and delicious.

Great pub, by far the best option in Teddington for outdoor seating with a heated beer garden to the rear and street tables at the front where you can watch the world go by. The staff are super friendly and prices very reasonable. My favourite local :)

If I could give 0 stars I would have! Booked a table last night for my birthday day, turned up to the pub and wase told we did not have a table despite the fact that they confirmed the booking. My husband showed the lady behind the bar that we did have a confirmed booking for the evening but, instead of rectifying the situation she just dismissed us with an oh your name is not on the board so no you dont have a table. She kept giving us the look of contempt. I think her name was Amy as it was written on her work shirt. Disgusting behaviour! Please do not confirm bookings if you do not intend to assign a table for your guest, you are just wasting their time and giving your pub a bad reputation! Train your staff on customer service as they don't appear to have any!

I was at a wake. They put out a nice variety of bites. Tea and coffee were also provided. Premises were clean. Couldn't fault the staff. It seemed to be a popular place as plenty of customers were there too

I have been coming to the Adelaide for a fair while and I must say it's one of the best pubs in the area. Well kept cellar, decent selection of spirits, food consistently good and a really friendly welcome every time we walk through the door, what's not to like?

A nice friendly pub and restaurant with a function room upstairs. Inside is larger than it first looks and has a good amount of tables. Outside there's a decent sized garden too. The upstairs function room has its own bar and suitable for smaller functions.

Excellent pub! Staff is extremely warm and friendly makes you feel at home. They go out of their way to help, needed a take away dinner when it was late and the lady behind the bar had no problem helping me! The hamburger and fish and chips were great so good we came back the next evening for dinner! They have a outstanding outside sitting area as well.

I’ve never used trip advisor in my life before but I really felt the need to here. When you hear so much about how the service industry is in decline and pubs are closing left right and centre I was really surprised at how bad our experience was this afternoon. The lady behind the bar was rude, the food - although cheap - was not great and the beer was not kept well. When someone sitting at the bar called us “weirdos” for ordering food at slightly different times that really was the decider for me on leaving this review. Made to feel thoroughly unwelcome and uncomfortable. Must try harder Adelaide.

We travelled across London (ok from se3) to meet friends here for Sunday lunch … it was totally worth the drive. Firstly it’s a nice looking classic pub, clean and tidy and not subjected to the ott make over of many pubs these days. Secondly the staff are on it quick at the bar and the lady who looked after us (May be the owner) was really good at remembering how we liked our drinks. Thirdly the Sunday lunch was delicious. I had the vegi option with all the trimmings with a nut roast which was delicious (not the dry lump you often get !) all the veg was yum and it was a lovely size portion ..it was like having it at home but no washing up and better beer .. the rest of our table had meat and there was nothing left on the plates :) It very reasonably priced for the size and quality, it also has a lovely beer garden and is really near Bushy park So you can walk it off after.

Came as a family for a meal, everything was excellent, the staff, the atmosphere, the food which I would give a ten, and I am hard to impress when it comes to rating food but I could not complain about a single thing. The staff are very warm and welcoming! The garden it beautiful. Its a 10 from me! Definitely recommend 😁

Great pub food with a nice patio out back and live sports. Staff were also v friendly. Not too pricey and they take bookings and are dog friendly.
