Wen t to the blacksmith arms hook for a Xmas meal.wuth about 20 people. There was only us 20 people in the pub. We had a three course Xmas meal which I couldn't fault. I.had prawn cocktail carvery Xmas dinner and a cheesecake all very nice. But my friends went for Xmas day dinner and paid 60 pounds and they weren't impressed. They had their meal booked for 2pm and there was no turkey left just strag ends of pork and the roast potatoes were hard all. the other veg was fine. When you.psy that amount of money on Xmas day you expect everything to be spot on. Anne walker

Visiting family who brought us here for Sunday carvery. Excellent steak pie, pastry exceptional, well done to whomever made. Really good choice of veg. Roasties were little squares of spuds rather than half a spud,I had mash, which was buttery and yummy.Gravy a little runny for me,but I'm fussy, and taste was very good. Meat was gammon Turkey beef and all on our table received a couple of slices of each. Only criticism would be is where you line up to queue for your carvery,we sat at the table in the middle, and had 20+ people standing and staring at our plates and yapping away so loud. Look forward to going again when we visit in May,will just ask to be seated somewhere not on display

The host couldn't do enough to make our visit the very best. The beer is good, that's always a top pointer. We took our dog, asking whether a visit was ok. Turns out the place is "dog friendly" (away from the dining area). After the first visit where our dog was offered a few choice treats, it has become her best place to visit ever. This doesn't disappoint me in the slightest, as beer is an acceptable compensation.

The carvery serving area was messy and food being brought from the kitchen was being dumped on top of older food. Meat was just acceptable. Vegetables were dire. Frozen and cooked to mush. Cheap gravy. One of our party did not even eat due to it looking so bad. It was very busy but they obviously cater for those people who prefer quantity over quality. Would not recommend and will not be going back.

We visited the Blacksmith Arms in Hook as a family of 4 adults, and went for the carvery. The carvery operates every day and we were delighted with the quality and choice of the food. The vegetables were not all soggy as in some establishments. And the meat was not all dried out, it was very moist. Even the Turkey which can be a very dry meat. The staff were really friendly and made us very welcome, and my Mum ordered a pot of tea which was served very well laid out on a tray with hot water etc, so it was an excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.A big thank you to all of the staff. We will definitely be returning soon.

Whilst on our way to York, we decided to stop off at the Blacksmiths arms for some food. Normally need to book, however the staff managed to fit us in. Sunday’s is carvery, there are pricing options 1 meat for £7.45, 2 meat £8.45 or three meat £9.95. We opted for two meats, beef and turkey. There was an abundance of vegetable, including broccoli cheese and my favourite, roast parnsnips. Everything is home cooked, even the Yorkshire puddings, they were huge. The food was delicious given the reasonable price. The staff were brilliant, even with the smaller children, nothing seemed much trouble. We will definitely visit again.

It is always good to find a genuine local pub, independent and well-supported by local people. And the Blacksmiths Arms is one such pub. We were seated at a table at the front of the pub with windows looking out over the street. One of several tables tucked just around the corner from the main bar, it had that feeling of being a part of everything rather than being isolated in a totally separate dining room. And yet on the night we visited, the bar wasn't very full, and so the noise levels were fine for conversation and relaxation. We had a choice between a printed, basic menu and blackboard specials. We would have loved to see some menu options which came with potatoes and vegetables, or to have been offered a choice. Instead almost everything came with chips, and the only really healthy sounding dishes were a couple of salads. As a result, two of us decided to go for the soup and then to move straight on to dessert. The lemon bread and butter pudding was especially tasty, and, like the main course our daughter ordered and those that we saw being delivered to other diners, of a very generous size. There is a well laid out and maintained car park beside the pub, which is situated at Hook, just a few minutes drive along from Goole.

We were in the area and used Trip Advisor to find this place. Nearly never went in as it doesn't look overly inviting from the outside. Inside is ok if a little shabby, fully understand that running a pub is costly and time consuming but regular painting and refurb of furniture is needed to attract the right clientele. Anyway service was good, drinks reasonable and food excellent. That said medium steak was more well done but still good. Not as nice surroundings as the Percy Arms at Airmyn but food was good and cheaper.

I hadn't been to the Blacksmiths for a long time but when I was recently in the area a friend told me that the pub was now under new management. He extolled the virtues of the food rating it as superb and there was so much on the plate that it was almost falling off. The menu had been expanded so there was much to choose from.I visited during the early evening of a weekday and could see some changes straight away. It was clean and tidy and the menu had indeed been expanded and there was a specials board so the choice was indeed very good. It looked as if a few more tables and chairs had been added but not enough to case any problems. The bar had a few people drinking there and it appeared that they were locals and in jovial manner listening to the laughter otherwise it was very quiet but what do you expect at such early hours. I succumbed to the specials board and chose meat and potato pie, peas and chips as it's simplicity appealed to me. When it arrived it certainly wasn't falling off the plate nor was it superbly cooked. The chips were large and possibly hand cut and just the way I like them whilst the peas somehow stayed on the plate and did not roll off and onto the table leaving me at times trying to pierce them with my fork and they were tasty as well. The pie was a bit of a disappointment however because there wasn't much in size to attack as the slice was rather small and thus not a great deal therein of meat or potato but what was there was tasty. Overall I was expecting something just that little bit better which was a shame. I think I will give it another try when I am in the area but for the moment it will have to rate my current overall rating but if it had just that little bit of extra I am sure that my rating will go up that extra point.

The Blacksmiths Arms has been under new management since late 2013. In this time I have visited many times, and I've never been disappointed. The service is offered with a smile and a bit of banter, the menu choice is typical of a local pub but still offers a nice "home cooked" quality, and the food has always been of a high standard. The restaurant offers highchairs for young children, which is handy for families and for us with a 16month old. I have also visited this restaurant as part of a family birthday event and a christening, and they offer a fantastic buffet style lunch for those looking for a local place to cater small events.I'm surprised that everytime we visit its not packed with people, considering there aren't many better restraurants around this area.

This establish has changed hands since we last visited and things were not as nice. The menu is typical mediocre pub food but can't comment on the Sunday carvery. The single issue that means we will not visit again is the overwhelming smell of grease in the seating area. It was so pervasive that we could smell it on our clothes after we left :( There no longer seemed to be the great family atmosphere there once was but this could be due to changes within the village.

Some were busy, some were not doing food, some just didn't sound right on the phone - then I got through to Kevin at The Blacksmiths Arms. From the outset Kevin could not have been more welcoming or helpful. He agreed to seat us for dinner quite late in the evening for New Years, he didn't have the cut of steak I wanted but offered to go and buy it in for me (which he did and it was delicious - more on this later), and he further went off menu to accommodate our needs. I just want to reiterate that he agreed to do this at short notice and on New Year's Eve when he was also arranging a big charity event. When we arrived we were met with a warm welcome and the table was beautifully laid. All the food was home made, well presented and tasted as good as it looked. The prices were extremely reasonable, the atmosphere pleasant, the service fantastic - we simply can't fault The Blacksmiths Arms and are keen to return soon.I understand this place is under different management and much of the bad feedback on here relates to the previous management; if you had a bad experience before it may well be worth a return visit to check out how great this place now is.

Recently stayed 5 nights at the Black Smith Arms Goole. We were made to feel so very very welcome by all of the staff. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and the staff really looked after us. The food was amazing and service brilliant. I would just like to say a massive thank you to all of the staff for making our stay one to remember on our journey! Yas and Alun xx

Food was plain, nothing special. Lack of choice, and warm. The staff was friendly, and service was quick. All in all I wouldnt go back.

For £65 I did expect the room to be at least en- suite. I think that for that price you shouldn't have to share two shower/toilets with 5 rooms. Would not recommend staying over at this place although the food was ok

This ols village pub has been modernised, and to an extent that has detracted from the atmosphere, but it is still worth a visit for good drinks, good food and all at reasonable prices.

Went for Sunday Lunch here whilst visiting family. I always think a carvery is the best way to have a Sunday Lunch when eating out. Good choice of meat and vegetables. Roast potatoes not crispy enough for me but all the other vegetables were very good. Prices were reasonable considering the amount of food that we had so all in all a good eating experience. Will definitely vist again when in the area next time.

Whether you want a meal from the menu or a quick fix at the carvery the Blacksmiths Arms hits the spot. Good service, good food and friendly atmosphere for families. If eating at peak times e.g. Sunday lunch it is best to book.My friends and family have stayed in the rooms above the pub and despite them not being en suite they are comfortable, reasonably priced and come with a great breakfast.Definitely not a local pub for local people!

We went on a quiet Sunday afternoon out of season because the previous review said they allowed the dog to go inside. I asked if we could take the pup in and sit out of the way in the corner. The lady said no sorry I don’t allow dogs in at all.

We had lunch at The Potting Shed with family. This was a return visit, and we think it’s the best garden centre restaurant in the area. Soup was carrot and coriander (delicious, could’ve eaten more!), sandwiches were very fresh, and the haddock and chips were delicious. Restaurant is very clean and well laid out, tables not too close together. I’m sure we’ll be back!

This cafe is now called Miss Bs pantry. Very friendly ladies and delicious food. As a coeliac myself I have to have gluten free. This is very well catered for here so my partner and I have visited on numerous occasions.Various selection of savoury dishes and cakes. Lovely latte too. Well worth a visit.

Niño amable, acogedor. Siempre una excelente pinta y un montón de ofertas de bebidas disponibles. Jardín de cerveza que es seguro y cerrado para los niños para jugar.
