What a great place. We were staying close by, so ate here both evenings. Great food at a good price's. There is a good choice of real ales. The landlord was really kind and helpful, ensuring we were catered for on Saturday evening as there was a birthday party and it was going to be busy. This was really appreciated.

Quite a small pub, but as it is a small village, will no doubt be adequate. We visited for a special occasion, with quite a number of people, so it was very crowded with limited seating. However, the buffet served on the day was excellent. Variety of dishes and the quality was very good. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, it's too far away for a second visit, but we definitely recommend the establishment.

First time visiting here as we have recently moved to Gilberdyke we were looking for somewhere near myself,husband & 9 week old puppy Billy were treated like old friends as soon as we walked in!The owner/landlord greeted us warmly , as requested when booking over the phone he seated us in a quiet corner as I am currently having chemotherapy for cancer & didn’t want to be in a busy area. Billy was treated to one of Bernard’s treats (dog) which he enjoyed 🐶 The food was delicious, a very clean & well presented pub, nice chilled atmosphere, we had a starter each ,Sunday lunch plus we shared the nicest lemon & raspberry bread & butter pudding I’ve tasted in a long time 😋😋😋 Thank you so much - we will be back very soon 🩷

Visited for the 3rd time today as a group of 8 for lunch. We hadn't booked but wasn't an issue. The landlord and landlady are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We have 5 children (17,10,8,3 & 5 months) and the landlord is fantastic with them. The food is exceptional, made with fresh ingredients and much thought given to presentation. A particularly highlight for my husband and I is the mixed tapas which we would highly recommend . A varied selection is available. The children's menu is well thought out and the portion size is perfect, not too much or too little. A hidden gem in the village of Eastrington. We will be back. Thank you for another fabulous experience.

Came in for an evening meal and a few beers with some friends that had come to visit for the weekend, it just happened to be "Burger night". If you like bland, tasteless, mass produced burger pattie stuffed in a bread roll with a sauce to add flavour then don't come here. If you like freshly made home cooked, flavoursome food, then this is a must visit. All home made and full of flavour, the range available also very impressive. Our 6 plates were all left spotless, then followed by a simple order of six portions of cheesecake, again fantastic and quickly polished off. In summary, friendly pub with great service, great real ales, and outstanding food.

I regularly meet the in-laws in Eastrington pub. The food, drink, atmosphere and staff are all excellent. The food is alway of the highest quality. I used to live in Eastrington and I wish the pub was this good back then Highly recommended

Dropped into the Black Swan with family for a celebration drink on Sunday, very relaxing. Managed to catch some sun in the beer garden...lucky us..! Great choice of ales as always, and very welcoming, will return again soon.

I went for karaoke night and was instantly made. Welcome by landlord and regulars , there was a busy restaurant part too up to 9 o clock and food I saw coming out was of highest quality , just a lovely country pub with friendly homely atmosphere with great food n beer , highly recommend

We needed somewhere to get an evening meal locally without having to leave Eastrington. The Black Swan fitted the bill perfectly. It doesn't serve food at lunchtime on weekdays. It only has food on Thursday and Friday evening and at the weekend but the food is very good here. Nice relaxed atmosphere.

I've eaten here many times and have never been let down. Good menu with plenty of choice of dishes that you would expect from a country pub plus a special board for something a bit different. Regular theme nights too - Steak, Mexican, Curry, Pie. Beer is excellent including guest ales and there's a gin bar too. Open fire when it's a bit cold and beer garden when it's warmer. Friendly welcome from the owners, the staff and the regulars.

Popped in for a meal as a break from cooking as I will be cooking all Christmas for Family, was not disappointed. We all had a different meal, 2 different pies and 2 different burgers, all really well presented and very tasty plates of food, the chips seemed like twice fried and were fantastic. The hand pulled beer was in tip top condition and thoroughly enjoyed, nice to see three on tap in a small village. Atmosphere was fantastic as you would hope for in a small village just before Christmas, if you are visiting the area then I strongly recommend this pub for some really great and cheap plates of food, seriously cheaper and better food than some of those big chain pubs that can be found in the area.

Nice selection of ale on draft which was great. My son and I both went for burgers, my son had a chicken burger which was basically a whole thick chicken breast with bacon and cheese which had had been cooked very nicely with home made chips and onion ring. I had the beef burger which was home made, a very high quality mince had been used so it was very tasty. Was tempted to have some tapas for starters but had resisted, I saw quite a few plates come out of the kitchen and it all looked very tasty I immediately regretted my decision. Pleased I did in the end though as I was completely stuffed on the burger alone. Would eat again if I was in the area.

Visited here on Thursday with friends who live very close by. Never eaten here before but would highly recommend food and drinks. Pinot Grigio was very pleasant and am told beer was good. All 6 meals were eaten and were delicious - the home made beef burgers are recommended. We had to try the homemade cheesecake- mars bar and it too was demolished. Lovely atmosphere inside and the owners were helpful and friendly.

Having lived in the village for many years I ventured in here for a beer a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised. An unexpected visit from some friends today prompted a trip in here for some food, being all of about 200 yards from my front door meant we could all drink. We all had a really lovely looking and good sized plate of food. Tucking in there were absolutely no complaints from anyone, the food tasted as good if not better than it looked. Anyone looking for a lovely plate of food served at a reasonable price with great service could do no better than calling into the Black Swan.

Always seems to offer something special, limited menu, but good quality food and a good bar with quality beers..!! Very friendly venue, good safe parking, worth a visit..!! Have specials which are usually very good..!!

Living local I hadn't been in here for some years. I'd heard the beer and food were better than they were a few years ago so called in for a drink. All I can say is that I have missed out on a great Pint and the food smelled and looked fantastic, and all at sensible prices. I will definitely be back and on a more regular basis, if you are in the area then try this local for some really well kept draught beer.

Great owners, cheery clientele and fresh beer. Really good scratch-made food with regularly changing specials as well as themed menu nights. Quality monthly pub quiz, and a good pool table (which is only out when the dining area isn't in heavy use.

Mi marido y yo tuvimos una cena estupenda en este pub. Tiene una muy buena variedad en el menú y una tabla de ofertas también. A grandes porciones y variedad para elegir. Lugareños y el dueño era muy atento cuando llegamos. Sin duda volveremos cuando en el área de nuevo. Gracias por una excelente comida.

Este es un muy buen lugar para ir si lo que quieres es fabuloso, comida casera, un ambiente agradable y un buen servicio. Fuimos allí para el almuerzo de domingo y disfrutamos muchísimo. Puedes tener 2 campos increíblemente bueno para un precio de 9,95 GBP por persona. Tuve la cálida pollo, tocino y morcilla negra ensalada de lo que era muy sabrosa y bien presentada. El asado mixto (algún cerdo y algunos Turquía) era delicioso y venía con una selección de vegetales frescos, budín de Yorkshire y salsa. El tamaño de las porciones fueron muy generosos. Bien vale la pena el viaje 'a la relación calidad-precio del país' y extremadamente bueno por su dinero. Sin duda aquí.

Curry night. Great value, tasty food with fantastic service. As usual made to feel very welcome by all the staff, nothing too much trouble. Looking forward to visiting again. May even manage to fit in a dessert next time.

Visited with friends that live locally. Had a fantastic welcome from the landlord, we stayed longer than we were going too so decided to have a meal. What a brilliant decision, proper home cooked food, cooked to perfection. We'll definitely visit again and definitely be eating there again. Many thanks.

Had been to the Black Swan on a previous occasion and found food and service to be excellent. Good value form money and mine hosts make you a very warm welcome . Saw special for Valentines Day and together with friends took the offer up. Once again excellent meal and service. One is really made to feel at home and a very warm welcome is always forthcoming from the owners and staff.

dined here on Saturday night on the two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30 ,food was excellent ,can recommend the chicken ,bacon and black pudding starter ! steaks cooked perfectly and homemade chips and onion rings ! will definitely return .

My wife and I were visiting friends in East Yorkshire and we wanted some pub grub and a beer. After driving round we stumbled across the Black Swan (in a village called Eastrington) run by Simon and Danielle. This is the perfect example of a friendly welcoming village pub with a great couple running the shop. The locals were all friendly aswell with this couple Mark and Jenny telling us about the local church. Comfy seating, a good selection of drinks and some lovely tasty pub food at a reasonable price. If we are in the area again we will go back as it was a real vfm find.

We had our wedding reception here and we have to say they made our day.The food was excellent the atmosphere was brilliant .Simon and Danielle welcomed all of our guests with a drink and made them all very welcome.Their attention to detail was fantastic and we are so glad we had it in the Black Swan.Children were made to feel welcome.Outside seating area was beautiful with a lovely gazebo in case it rained.They thought of everything..I would recommend anyone to have their wedding reception there.Lovely setting and great hosts . A lovely traditional village pub with a really friendly atmosphere, The owners are really welcoming to locals and new-comers alike. Great quality food from local suppliers and excellent service - we eat here regularly and the food is delicious, whether it's a restaurant meal you're after or just a bar snack. Highly recommended

Since Simon and Danielle have been landlords of the pub there has been a real transformation. Professional landlords, great food and service and very welcoming to both locals and walk-ins. Particularly welcoming for families. Good beer, delicious food and a fab atmosphere. I'd recommend Fish Friday as well as their special Curry night.Not sure what the previous review is about - perhaps got the wrong place.If you fancy a good local, with friendly staff and great bar food, look no further.

Bar staff were very arrogant if you want l a meal and a night to to be ushered out the door 50 mins from closing then go here!Howden is way better for nice village pubs and food! I wouldn't travel to this place ever again!

Since discovering the Black Swan we eat in the pub once a week and its great in both summer and winter. Simon and Danielle are very good publicans they are friendly, accommodating and have a varied tasty menu. Theres something on every week.A little gem in the village.Theres one bad review on here - this was from a previous owners management so I'd ignore it Simon and Danielle are great.

Simon and Danielle have transformed this pub so that it is once again at the heart of the village. The welcome is warm, the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is happy and friendly. Children are welcome and catered for with a menu of their own. If you don't want a full meal there is a fab bar snacks menu and the desserts that Danielle conjures up need to be tasted to be believed!There are various theme nights including race nights, discos and karaoke as well as themed food nights like Italian and the extremely popular Curry night.If you go to this pub on a Friday teatime or a Saturday night I can almost guarantee you it will be buzzing and far busier than most town pubs. What's not to like??

Went with 3 girlfriends to the Curry night on Thursday. We were shown to our table by Simon the landlord into the restuarant. We ate between us, Beef Madras, Lamb rogon josh and Vegetable jalfrazzie. With lots of poperdoms dips and sides .Service was excellent and the food fantastic. The price was even better! Can’t fault this place you really need to visit if you have not been don’t take my word for it but go! It’s had its ups and downs this village pub but I truly believe Simon and Danielle have turned it around to a cracking food/ drinking house !

This is a friendly pub where people smile or say hello when you walk in. It's run by a lovely couple who are doing a great job. It's nice inside, smart and clean. The food was really tasty and its a simple menu which is good value.

Visited this recently refurbished pub for the first time following a tempting mail shot offering discount on meals, Very friendly and accommodating owners made us feel at home immediately and was impressed with the real ale (Timothy Taylor's) a nice open fire and a decent choice of food. Chose the fish and chips which arrived in 'newspaper' a nice touch. All mains were piping hot and freshly prepared and just the right size to allow one of us the decadence of a desert which had to be the bread & butter pudding. This is a good new addition to the eateries of Howdenshire and deserves supporting. Recommended and will be returning.

visited friday night and i am pleased to put the record straight, since my last visit the pub has been taken over by a new couple and the place has been transformed ! it was quite busy with diners and drinkers alike and the new landlord and his wife seem to be doing an excellent job. well done and good luck for the future.

I agree completely with the previous reviews.We decided to call on a Saturday lunchtime and were delighted with both the food and the beer. The mini fish and chips, freshly cooked and presented with great style, meant we had room for the delicious home made bread and butter pudding.Both Simon and Danielle made us feel very welcome, as did the blazing open fire. We intend to visit again in the very near future and will be working our way through the menu which we understand is to be changed on a regular basis( therefore this may take us some time!)Give it a try. We're sure you won't be disappointed.

I have not been in the Black Swan for ages, the last time was probably 5 years ago and the place was very much down at heal - very poor beer, and no atmosphere. But what a pleasant surprise last night when we popped in on the way home! The place was buzzing with enthusiastic tea-time/early evening drinkers, and the adjacent dining area was pretty full of local residents taking advantage of the Friday night Fish & Chip £5.95 special. Two hand pumps were busy - I had the delicious Timothy Taylor Golden Best (the other is John Smiths which is not really my bag, but someone must drink it.........). A small but good selection of reasonably priced wines, and a decent but not over-enthusiastic menu for those wanting to dine. For years I thought Eastrington would eventually end up without a pub, but the Black Swan looks safe now and once again a pleasant village pub and the hub of the community. Well done!

The Black Swan has been under new management for just two months and it has been transformed into a proper village pub run by a team who know absolutely what they're doing. The beer is well kept (two real ales), the welcome is genuinely warm and the food is very good quality. The buzz in the pub on a Fish Friday (every Friday) is testament to the hard work that goes into running a successful local pub; doing simple things well.

I would ignore the November review as the pub was about to change hands and was being run down. A new couple have taken over andthe pub is once again the heart of the village, they serve food Thur, Fri, Sat, and Sunday the menu is quite limited until they see how thing go.My wife and I had a meal and the food was excellent, freshly cooked and really well presented the ambiance of the place was pleasant and I would definitely go again.They also do speciality nights, usually on a Thursday when apart from the standard menu they serve speciality food, but you have to keep an eye on the notice board in the bar for these
