A find, good food and excellent value. Nice to sit outdoors and people watch.

Decent brunch that's reasonably priced for the location.

TBP/Sloane Square is my go to restaurant when in from California. Consistent in the quality of it's dishes, the staff always warm and welcoming - a fantastic location to perch and people watch - I never feel rushed to move along post meal - very relaxing - Thank you Ozge for taking such good care of us on Saturday.

We came for lunch on a rainy day, 1 September 2024. There were a few seats available so didn’t take long to get attended to. The restaurant is tucked nicely into the corner of the square so not a massive foot-flow of people passing by but still a good spot to people watch as we had the window seat. Food seemed to take a long time for a burrata salad and OZDEMIR PASHA. Whilst the food tasted ok it wasn’t anything special. The waiter seemed over attentive (forgot water) and grumpy quick to take order and charge us. They automatically charge you service charge that’s didn’t make the food so reasonable priced so disappointing after the long wait for food and had to get ourselves glasses of water as it’s nice to have when eating and enjoying a coffee. Will not return as plenty of nice friendly and flavourful cafes around. I’d been here a few times before but for a not so busy day dissatisfied.

I have visited a couple of times for breakfast - this time it was for brunch and a tasty full plate of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough. The eggs were really good. It's an ideal location for the Kings Road area and close to Partridge's and the Saatchi Gallery. It can get busy but on dry days there is outdoor seating.

I liked their breakfast. It was varied, but they ordered the salad without onions if you yourself don't like onions

Ordered the gatherers breakfast was lovely. And the flat white was strong and nice just how I like it.

I didn't like the food, it was pretty bland.

We were there for lunch. I was really disappointed of the food quality. Reviews are basically not bad so because of this we wanted to try. We got babagannush and as main dish chicken thighs. It was tasteless. I believe ingredients quality are the lowest. They buy cheapest products but charge like it's not.. P.S. I'm adding this after the restaurant reply; we were there yesterday around 12 and we did not take receipt as noone does these days unless they need. What we ate is exactly what I wrote above. So, you can check with those details what ever you need. Thank you..

Conveniently located for a little snack of lunch while shopping in the neighbourhood or visiting the Saatchi gallery. Fresh food, nice staff, and a terrasse for the nicer days.

Good food, but refused to remove the DISCRETIONARY service charge. Clearly they need to reword their menu. Staff was very rude when asked about it.

We visited for brunch during the Chelsea in Bloom event with our flower shop team. The food and service were excellent. Even when one of our colleagues fell ill and fainted, blocking the kitchen pass-through, the staff kindly made space for her to recover and were very helpful throughout the half-hour ordeal. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused. By the way, everything turned out well!

Came here for a work lunch which had been booked and even though my colleague was there they didn't know the booking. It took a while to find her and get seated. Not busy and it took a long time to get served and we had to ask a few times for drinks. Some didn't come. Variety of staff served us and not all that friendly.

The food was nice but the costumer service was horrible… They were really rude to us and they urged us to leave as soon as we paid. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great value for money and tasty, large portions

Came her for lunch. Was very impressed. The portion sizes were massive. The lamb shoulder for beautiful. Salt beef hash was tasty. Hunters breakfast was huge. I will be coming back to try different things on the menu. Service was was good. Worth a visit if you're around duke of York.

The place felt dirty for some reason. The Waiters seemed like they can't be bothered. Waitress actually turned her back on us when we called her. Food was OK, nothing special, and coffee was average. Not the best bang for your buck.

I’ve never given a five star review before We recently dined at The Black Penny in Sloane Square and were thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service and attention to detail. Lovely lunch in the sunshine, great (healthy) food choices and good service

Aware this is London but your prices are ridiculous. £4.90 for about 200ml of warm orange juice is a joke. Food is bang average, do yourself a favour and head to Pavilion Road for a much better selection - Granger & Co is cheaper than this…. Service ok, a bit slow and inattentive. Toilet was disgusting. Save the trip and go somewhere nicer. Snooty was the word I would use.

Been here several times and service gets worse with each visit. Quite liked it here but unfortunately won’t be returning as service is terrible. Servers ignore you, slam your food/drinks down on table and quickly turn their backs to you, no eye contact, and generally treat you as if you’re not wanted there. Very odd Asked to pay the bill 2x times and no one brought it out to us so had to go inside to ask to pay which they seemed annoyed at even though they didn’t bring it out to us Don’t like going places where paying customers are treated like they’re not wanted

This used to be a good go to in Chelsea for brunch and coffee but the service just keeps getting worse and worse. The waiters are really quite unfriendly and borderline rude to you which really brings down the atmosphere

We usually go to the Covent Garden branch but as we were heading for South Kensington this morning we decided to try. Reserved a table but turned up just as they were opening so no need really. Delicious food. Red eggs were super tasty. Nice friendly staff

I didn’t realise the brunch and Prosecco voucher that I had was for their Covent Garden location instead, but one staff member (didn’t take his name unfortunately) without me asking went to the effort of ringing someone to make sure that I could use my voucher here instead. We’re vegetarian so we ordered the Ozdemir Pasha and The Gather which both tasted amazing and the portions were very generous. The same staff member even got us some coffees free of charge which is some of the best coffee I’ve ever tried. Couldn’t rate the service, food, or coffee higher, would definitely recommend this place.

Came here for a spontaneous bite to eat. Just made it for brunch which finishes at 4pm. The flat white was amazing on a rainy day. My friend had the French toast and it was honestly so delicious. I had a savoury choice and it was great too. Gave us a lot of energy for shopping afterwards. I would have loved to sit outside but it was raining.

Pretty good brunch spot. Located in the heart of Sloan Square and Duke of York area. The Bloody Mary was really good. The eggs were well cooked and the portions are generous. It’s a valid options for food if you want something simple.

Horrible food made terrible with even worse service. Food came relatively cold and with nearly zero seasoning. To make matters worse, one of the pita bread slices came half bitten off by a precious customer. The manager was very standoff-ish and didn’t care to address us waiting in the hot sun even after making eye contact several times over a long period. When we got inside, we had to take the menu’s off the counter as we waited forever for a waitress to come with the menu to no avail. Even as she saw us take it upon ourselves, she didn’t even care to apologize for neglecting us. Avoid at all costs.

We were impressed with our dining experience. The food was well prepared and presented. The staff was in no hurry to move us along. A small menu with nice choices.

Very poor service no one was. Outside to guide when we got inside they asked us to wait outside when we were outside standing for 15 minutes the waiter then remembered and asked us to come inside the service was very poor yea served was cold very few vegetarian option very disappointing

Called in here for a mid morning coffee & snack. It is situated in Duke Of York’s Sq & I would imagine on a sunny day a lovely lively spot to sit outside & people watch. We were inside in a miserable rainy day. Friendly enough greeting & luckily for a small restaurant/cafe there was a free table. Coffee’s & sourdough toast ordered & arrived nice & quickly. All very good. Lovely sourdough toast (good suppliers) Very happy with our quick visit & the actual breakfast’s being served looked amazing.

Popped in for a drink and late lunch but had a very bad experience with a male staff member who was very rude and unwelcoming. Ended up just having a drink instead as his attitude completely put us off. We will not be returning.

Un fantástico bruch inglés por un precio muy razonable. La comida estaba espectacular y con un sabor increíble. Aunque muchos comentarios decían que la cantidad era escasa, para nada. El ambiente del local muy agradable y la camarera que nos atendió súper atenta.

Abbiamo solo fatto colazione. Nonostante fossimo fuori e piovesse non ci siamo bagnati e c’era una stufetta da soffitto. Personale molto gentile. Bagno accessibile e pulito (che non è poco)

The black penny is one of the best and favourite restaurants in Sloane Square The staff there are all very friendly and know exactly what customers service is And know the menu very well very aware of allergies Thanks to the great manager for his grate customer service always and for training all the staff The restaurant has a wonderful selection of food from vegetarian and non vegetarian and it’s very comfortable

Lovely spot for brunch with an all-day menu and a great, open atmosphere. The location is prime for a day spent exploring the Sloane Square area or for shopping on the Kings Road.

Can't fault it. The waitress was sweet, patient and helpful. The meal, well, I didn't expect it but it was delicious. I had crispy duck. Duck is not usually my thing. However, I fancied something different. I have no regrets. Tasted so good. The duck was crispy indeed, the sweet potatoes were yummy, the egg was runny and delicious, the spinach made me want to become Popeye. So, so good. Highly recommended. It's a shame they don't do buy one get one free. Even the non alcoholic Orchard Sunrise drink was tasty. Well done Black Penny.

Very poor service, took a long time to take our order & on payment the waiter (bald man) was rude and ignorant. It’s brunch so I don’t expect 5* service but looking away from you and not even saying ‘thank you’ when you’ve paid is poor. The food wasn’t anything special (the wedges seemed very much like frozen McCain) - though the coffee was good quality. Disappointing and we won’t be returning.

Obnoxious, arrogant and unbelievable rude. The man in question stated he was the boss when I asked to speak to a manager. I have visited here many times previously, this WAS our go to place in the Sloane sq area. We will never go back. Hideous experience.

It was good, I liked their lamb. My friend had the salad, which was also good. Nice location and staffs were friendly.

I think my food experience could have been far better if I had chosen the right dish. I wanted to try their salmon but they ran out of salmon. Then I ended up ordering Cesar salad. Which was not very good. I tried the braised lamb shoulder and It was far better. They also have a good brunch menu. Food takes a bit of time. Service was good. It was a hot summer day and we sat outside. So the sun was on our face all the time. I wish they could have done some arrangements for shade. ( Not for us just in general ) Overall it was a nice place to hang out and have brunch.

Red beard guy, probably waiter was extremely rude when I had asked if we could merge 2 tables while they were scratching their head and we were waiting. Replying as "maybe you should work and I will be the customer " sounds completely unprofessional especially considering the location. Disgraceful behaviour!

Greek menu. Nice outside area. Food was very good. Service was worth charge. I gave a 4 review 8 months ago and made above comments, however, have changed it to a 2 for several reasons. We were behind a table of 6 in queue. We were a table of two, however the staff seemed to be unable to see there were at least 3 tables of two available and when a table of 6 became available they had to be told by the people waiting that there was a table free. They also had to be told to clean the table. Then a lady with a dog arrived let her dog rest its head on the eating table and then allowed it to drink out of a glass, instead of asking for a dog bowl. We all have pets but she should know better. Totally unhygienic and if the staff saw they said nothing. Totally different experience to 8 months ago sadly.

Lovely little place to stop off for a bite to eat. We had The Hunter brunch for £13.90 each. It was overcooked, but did taste alright. We did intend to sit outside but the British weather soon put paid to that as the heavens opened and it 'positively rained' it down, including hail stones.

Hanno tavolini anche all’esterno che si affacciano su una zona pedonale, molto piacevoli in primavera. Ho preso delle uova strapazzate con pane tostato e salmone ed una centrifuga fresca ed ho pagato circa 20£.

Very inattentive service - I felt ignored from the moment I arrived, and I never received the water I asked for. Food was good but the prices were very high - you can get the same quality food at any good brunch place, but for cheaper.

It's wonderfully situated at the Duke of York Square. They have lots of seating outside and a few tables inside. The staff are friendly, polite and always have a smile on their face. It's a very welcoming place. The food is incredible. Their coffee is beyond delicious along with their mouth watering cakes. Lovely place to sit at and enjoy your coffee. It's a must for any foodie and coffee lover out there. I would highly recommend The Black Penny.
