Brinkley's Restaurant in Kensington and Chelsea

Love this gorgeous restaurant, visit from time to time. On Tuesday evening, 27th of April 2021 we went into the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us with a table (two ladies). I asked the 1st person after we entered through the door, a gent named Onur, said he has no bookings available and we should have known better to book before hand. which is fair enough, though his tone and words were not very pleasant. Regardless we mentioned that we are local and really hoping to get a table for an hour or so. He said we could come back at 7:30 which was the time then, I can understand if they were rushed off their feet and too busy to deal with walk ins. I feel that some one more welcoming and friendly should be at the door always. We then went into the small garden and took a look around, empty tables at the back and asked the waitress, a young lady with blonde hair tied up. He then interrupted us and got annoyed about the fact that we asked if we could sit at any one of those tables for a quick dinner and turned really rude. He said " come one, why are you going around and asking every one" and " I already said no, we cannot accommodate you, please" and pointed to the door. We are really upset to have been spoken to in such way and are extremely embarrassed as we were inside the premises when he pointed us the door to leave. Both Londoners and never experienced such rude manners specially in an established area and business such as Brinkleys. We live locally and looked presentable and dressed for dinner, feel we did not receive any respect or courtesy. What could have been a very polite encounter and concluded by let me see when we next have a table available turned into us being rudely spoken to and pointed to the door. Manners and peoples skills were lacking which is shocking. We hoped to receive an apology here at least but we never did.

Really good food, great choice of wine and good service. Will come again.

This is a great spot the staff are TERRIFIC the food is quite good ( truffel pasta didnt taste of anything) the filet steak needs cooking with a bit more salt to give it depth of flavour but the sauces are delicious) the star was the tuna and avocado carpaccio uttlerly delicious. we were so enjoying ourselves until they turned up the music like a nightclub. we asked frequently for it to be turned down but it was put up again by THE OWNER! maybe has hearing imparement because it was BOOMING and the staff said they were going deaf. i went to see the delightful John and told him we had to leave becuase the joy of going out with friends is to catch up with news. this restaurant is a favourite of oldies haveing known it all their lives - like me- but PLEASE JOHN keep the loud music for the bar ONLY and not the diners. you know that LOUD MUSIC DOES NOT = ATMOSPHERE and the staff would be grateful too i suspect :)

This is a marmite thing. You either over it or hate it. Servics is good. Drinks are expensive. It cater for a certain crowd (not being judgemental) but not a place for a guy who prefers a beer in a quiet environment at slightly lower prices. It is definitely worth a try if you haven't been there before.

We had an exceptional dining experience! The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. A special thanks to Marita, who truly went above and beyond to make our evening unforgettable. Her attentiveness and professionalism made all the difference. We couldn’t be more pleased and look forward to returning. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We have often enjoyed lunch at Brinkleys…atmosphere is still good with friendly service. However, the quality of the food is average, compared to before and we were disappointed with the last couple of visits.

The place has gone downhill over the years. The food is unremarkable at best. The service does in no way warrant 15pct service charge. In any case and due to the 15pct charge, the restaurant is put on black list.

Staff are great, food is nice. Restaurant feels a little tired. We were sat at the back in the conservatory and it could have done with a clean or wipe down - not great sitting amongst old chips and foliage, but the staff and really nice and the burger was delicious, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Korean chicken starter was good, a little unbalanced - high sour tamarind flavour but the burger was beautiful; soft, well seasoned and very tasty. Chips also very good, seemingly home made, crispy and fluffy inside. A gorgeous street to dine on, but a little disappointed by sitting amongst debris.

Average cocktails but nice and friendly service!

We had a wonderful experience on our return to Brinkley’s.Our waitress, Merlyn, was fantastic, very personable and excellent service. The Sunday Roast was probably the best we have ever had; absolutely delicious! The cheesecake topped things off. A Nice wine selection reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere and friendly service. Certain dishes are great some a re average but still tasty. Has a great vibe. Theres is seated area as well as bar area. Reservations highly recommended as it becomes quite crowded. Also great during the day to enjoy a drink. Under good weather you could enjoy outdoor seating - with heaters.

Such a fun place and delicious food. Lovely staff, quick service. Food served late and great wine. Alway a go to whether its just a drink or dinner. Sunday roast is still the best and most affordable in town.

Boring food some of the dishes have been on the menu for years

This place is absolutely hilarious! If you want to imagine yourself in an episode of ‘Made in Chelsea’ this is absolutely the place for you, full of air kisses, Tamaras and Tarquins! The doorman is absolutely brilliant, a proper geezer and the absolute caricature of what a doorman should be, worth a visit in itself. The food’s a bit average and overpriced as are the drinks but the atmosphere is brilliant, so get on your brightly coloured chino’s and put on those suede loafers without socks and get on down, I had a great night. 😊😊

Good food, reasonably priced and great service

We had a nice lunch at Brinkleys. They have a garden at the back that is lovely for sunny days. The waiter was super attentive and even gave me vegan options outside of the menu.

Terrible bathroom at the venue, mixed gender for both men and women, super dirty and chaotic. The place itself is fine, but this bathroom is just embarrassing.

Never disappointed. Always a great buzz and reliable food. It's easy to forget how hard it is to get the combination of atmosphere, food and service just right. Brinkley's always gets it right. Great service today in a busy restaurant: give the staff a bonus.

Lovely place to meet great people

In my opinion the price doesn’t warrant the quality of the food, the owner seems to have a god complex.

This was my wife and my first visit and it was excellent. The service staff, the food and everything else were fantastic. It will definitely be a place we will revisit with friends and family.

Delicious food, had the fried Brie followed by beef Thai curry. Superb! Great vibe. Lovely music and atmosphere! Definitely worth a visit!

Regrettably what would have been a lovely evening and really nice food turned into a screaming contest because of the number of tables that are fitted into the rooms. It is impossible to have 28 people ( I’ve counted) in a small space, back of the chairs touching, and offer a nice evening to your guests. Our dinner was an exercise in lip reading and dumb smiling as it was impossible to hear each other.

Delicious burger and tuna steak, gracious service

Excellent restaurant with a good vibe. You can never get bored there and the drinks are good too. I highly recommend to visit on Saturday night you will not be disappointed.

Always a great place for a nice few drinks before moving on to somewhere else on a Friday or Saturday. An older crowd, but classy and generally a lot of fun. Great music, and a good standard in general.

Good food but service very slow. We went on a Saturday night and sat outside which was nice. Tuna steak with lime was delicious, and vegan salad also quite good. Also lovely choc fondant for pudding. Quite pricey but not outrageous for the location/ quality. Downsides were not nice bathroom and very slow service - waiting a long time for orders to be taken and food to arrive

Generally always a good evening with a fun atmosphere, some nights can be busier that others and it does occasionally depend how close you are to other guests if near a larger noisy party can impact evening. Pretty outside space so lovely for summer evenings. Good quality food in truth I preferred the old menu as the vegetarian burger was a favourite. Can't go often as not enough vegetarian main choices to mix it up - add a few more veggie choices and my visits will increase.

Buzzy place on summer weekend days. Mickey located next to good Italian restaurant. And nice inside. Food is good. Good fun.

Reliable drinking and dining spot on the trendy Hollywood Road with outdoor seating. A varied menu serving classic brasserie style dishes at competitive prices for this part of town.

Been here a few times, it’s a lovely place for the locals to get together. Outdoor seating is lively and fun, just as well as inside. Staff are super friendly, atmosphere was fun. We ordered Tofu Salad, Taglioni Truffle and Croquette Brie Cranberry. I’d recommend all! The outdoor area has heating for the evening , so no need to bring a jacket! Would recommend visiting with a group of your friends!

We have always had great meals and service here but sadly it fell short. No one particularly wanted to show us to our table and we got passed pillar to post among staff before finding our table. Having ordered drinks we were left very thirsty when our food arrived and drinks were no where to be seen which ruined the meal for us. Drinks kept being incredibly slow to order- perhaps more staff were needed?! As always the food was good but it was slightly overshadowed by other aspects on this visit.

Having a lovely drink with friends on a table that was promised to us by staff until 7.30, then got chucked off at 6.15!! We said v happy to leave by 7 if we had another drink, but staff refused to serve us. Totally ridiculous - and an unfriendly and unwelcoming place.

Good food, very lively place, busiest day they ever had when I was there. Friendly staff

This place has gone down the pan. The service was almost non existent. We had to walk to the bar to ask to order. Starters took an hour to come and 2 people waited a further 10 minutes whilst the rest of us ate. Mains another hour to arrive. We complained and they still added the 15% service to the bill; utterly clueless. Felt sorry for the staff they looked like they were trying, management needs a shake up. Food was excellent when it did arrive.

Lovely experience, having a few drinks in this nice environment accompanied with great music selection and finest service is something I won’t forget. Very recommended if you are around SW London!!

Nice ambience. Not sure about food & drinks. White wine was awful. Side chips smelled of very cheap processed oil. I was physically sick after eating them.

Always a lovely experience. Nice seating outside , good for the sunshine but equally those cold days with overhead heaters. Nice changing wine list and you’re allowed to pick wines from the shop next door to drink at your table, great if you want to indulge and head off the menu.

This place has great staff, great ambiance and good food and it’s dog friendly which suits us perfectly! We live locally and would visit more however it’s such a shame that on both occasions we’ve visited, both times sat in the front bar, it’s been ruined by one of their old male regulars who is there everyday it seems, getting steamed on red wine and thinks he owns the place. Both times he thought it was appropriate to talk about the fact we had dogs with us and how much he dislikes it. Loud enough for us to hear 4 tables down. This time when he stumbled past us leathered, my dog barked because his movements were all over the place, he then stayed staring at us and repeated himself about he didn’t find it funny. Drunk old fool let’s the whole vibe down and it’s such a shame.

It was a match day so it was a specially reduced match day menu. The selection was small but ok. Most people were choosing the Burger. A little on the expensive side but the quality of food was good and we enjoyed the wine.

I went yesterday night with a friend, what to say, the food was fresh and delicious, we choosed to have couple of French wine wich also were delicious, and the all staff were so helpful and helped us during the time we have been there. Due to the pandemic, I had not been back to Brinkley’s for a few years. I just had dinner outside there with a friend last night. It has changed but very much for the better. It is a far quieter and more serene atmosphere, completely different to the craziness of a bygone era. The food is simpler but amazing nonetheless, the staff attentive and happy people. I could not have asked for a more exquisite way to end summer. Yet another neighbourhood gem. Thank you

Very cool, cool vibe, cool menu. A little bit tight without much distance between tables, but staff are amazing and no mess up on orders at all with a packed night. Recommended

Nice restaurant but horrible customer service. We were not given a welcome to start with. The menu has changed, we sat and had to call the girl who was on the other side of the room foe service as otherwise would take ages. She was quite cold , no face engagement or any sign of warm care. Whatever …customer service used to be very good here…not now. We noticed the other table close to us, had finished the main course when we arrived and after half an hour, the plates were not still cleared, so this tells you everything. We had iberico ham, ok but as Spanish food lover , was 6 out of 10. The Gazpacho was good and flavourful but tomatoes should be more ripe. The tuna was some kind of ok , average nothing really spectacular. The burger was ok, although I was asked for the fires option , had asked for Parmesan and truffle, there was no truffle and when asked the waitress, she replied, I ask the chef but never came back, goat cheese salad. No dessert and overall for the price you pay I would not recommend, not for the food itself but for the horrible customer service.

Amazing roast ,and unbeatable service

We had booked a table for 5 for drinks and on arrival, were shown to an empty area where white table clothed settings were ready for dinner. We asked that as we were only staying for an hour, could we possibly at least sit where there were other people for a hint of atmosphere and there were many empty tables inside. The male manager was curt and rude and simply said NO, take it or leave it. We left it and went next door to the 'Hollywood Arms' where we were made very welcome so drank a bottle of Champagne and wine there instead and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. This is the second time that I have experienced rude service at Brinkley's - there won't be a third opportunity for them to shine!

Extremely crowded place. Not sure if they fully respect Covid rules. People seem to be mixing a lot between tables. Doubt there is enough space between each table. You come here and you definitely forget that we are in a Covid restricted era... Understaffed. However, it is a nice restaurant with some decent plates. A bit pricier though. Would still recommend as the restaurant is gorgeous. Perfect for Instagram 😉

Very friendly, accommodating staff and efficient service. Good choice of food. Ideal environment during Covid times. Outdoors especially very nice, even if it rains they have wonderful outdoor shelters.

Irresponsible management towards covid safety. Our booking was a “garden” table for 5, which was in fact a table inside set for 4, and they squeezed in another setting. Tables unspaced, no masks worn by staff (one had a mouth only visor). It was as if the pandemic was over.

Food was good but very over priced and very small portion sizes. The menu was also pretty small and boring. Nice vibe but wouldn’t come for the food to be honest.

This the BEST place in London...soooo much fun, friendly people, waiters great,wine incredibly well priced, amazing vibes, international crowd...what else is needed?nothing..just go there and you won't regret it!!!

the only thing that saves this place is its wine cellar. service is near non-existent. staff treat you as if they're doing you a favour rather than concerning themselves with making your stay enjoyable. to say this placed is poorly managed would be an understatement. if you're somehow forced to go to this place, avoid ordering the food as hot dishes will likely come out lukewarm or cold. DON'T GO HERE

Outdoor dining experience with an 8pm booking. Was one of the first nights back open and pretty cold. Food was up to standard as usual. Evening suffered due to the cold and the noise from all the cars crawling past with sports exhausts (were sat on the newly built front terrace). Also, we were delayed getting our table as previous sitting refused to get up initially. Victim of circumstance and as I say, food was great.

Very pleasant outdoor space on Hollywood Road just off the Fulham Road. Just the place to sit and have a drink and good selection of small plates.

Quiet. But very manageable during these times

Cosy and quiet place to meet up with friends. Good food and lovely staffs. We ordered three different dishes and it was superb. I recommend this place and will visit it again. Social distancing was being observed.

very rude staff instead of listening the order to the end she preferred to go away and make it likely I'm not sure but I'm sure!! i came there for the steak as i saw the online menu and when I've asked as i don't see it on the menu i was just ignored So I don't get how can I order anything if I'm ignored so i just left to a nicer place with nicer staff to deal with Now I have no wonder why was it empty when I got there. As the nearby places was full. I definitely don't recommend this place.

Nice venue, seating outside which is lovely during the summer. Don’t really understand all the hype of this place though as I wouldn’t rush to come back.

Really like this restaurant, and visit often. Went today to celebrate our anniversary and completely unexpectedly were rewarded with complementary glasses of wine. The sort of touch that makes one want to return. Thank you to all the lovely staff.
