The Black Mulberry in Harrogate

We popped into The Black Mulberry for a drink but ended up staying for a bite to eat, and I’m so glad we did! The food was delicious, with generous portions that left us more than satisfied. The staff were really lovely, super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The place itself has a cosy, relaxed vibe, perfect for a casual meal or just grabbing a drink. Definitely a spot I’d visit again!

Only went in for a drink (hot chocolate which was probably the best ever) but ended up staying for lunch as the food looked soo good. Staff were super friendly which was a bonus. ☕

Order two coffees and nachos, the food was delicious! And the staff were so friendly and welcoming! I will definitely be returning :)

We always have a wonderful experience at The Black Mulberry. Alex and her team are very friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming. The staff clearly love their job and take time to get to know their customers. It’s so disappointing to read a review from someone who, quite simply, has reacted to their own mistake in such a negative way. An absolute must if you’re on waterside. Scrummy modern menu with great coffee and lovely staff! I became a regular here - whether it’s just me on a dog walk or taking visiting friends and family- I’d never go anywhere else on the river now. 😍🙌🏽👌🏽💯

I always enjoy coming to the Black Mulberry they are a friendly welcoming cafe with loads of veggie options for me. We are local and always try and support Alex and her team. I’d highly recommend brunch here.

Whenever I'm in Knaresborough it's my main port of call for a bite whilst visiting the water front. Good food, friendly staff... They can't guarantee you sunshine but at least they try to brighten your day

We have visited this cafe quite a few times but unfortunately on our last visit a member of staff was very discourteous to us. We waited outside for a table not realising a group chatting on the pavement were also waiting. A table for 2 became available so we walked in, as someone was leaving, we saw no harm in doing that. (although there was a sign outside the door saying to wait to be seated) The staff member promptly gave us a telling off! Then returned with menus and repeated herself in an extremely discourteous manner. We left immediately and went to the Marigold cafe oppersite, we are happy to queue but not to be spoken to so rudely. We will not be returning.

Great place scrambled eggs were really good.

Went on a BH Monday so maybe it isn't representative of what it is normally like. It took a long time to get served with only 3 people in the queue. The wait for food was 1 hour which seemed a bit much. Staff seemed tired and reluctant to talk, which I understand when it is very busy as it must be a bit draining for them. My coffee was a bit burned and more like a cappuccino than a latte. The interior was quite pleasant. Maybe I'll be back again and give it another go on a less busy day!

Lovely little place on the riverside . Got here at the perfect time,got very busy very quickly. Nice selection on the menu,wife had had scrambled which I was assured was very nice.I Myself had 'all day brunching' consisting of 2 bacon,2 eggs and 2 sausages on sourdough toast ,sprinkling of chopped chives on top,everything cooked perfectly. Flat White for myself and Cappuccino for the wife,which makes a change from some coffee shops to be piping hot. Friendly, welcoming staff,next time we are up this way,will certainly come again.. Fantastic

Called into this cafe by the river today, and just got in time for the breakfast menu, so i was told, in an abrupt manner, anyway i went in and ordered our food, which was a sausage and egg roll and bacon and egg roll, asked if it was butter on the rolls, told it was FLORA not for us, so no butter, when it came after a bit of a wait, the eggs inside the rolls were rock hard, not a nice soft fried egg, my partner asked for a soft boiled one and asked for it to be changed, the next this a women came out to our table and asked why we wanted another egg, my partner showed her his egg was hard, so was mine, however only one egg brought out, we did not expect to get this service from this cafe, and felt as if we were bothering them with a trivial request...they all seemed very stressed, i understand it is high season, however my partner used to run a cafe, with over 50 seats, with only 2 other staff, so we get that it can be stressful, but please learn how to deal with customer service, we will not visit this place again. left most of our rolls.

We stopped here for a coffee and dessert . Everything was delicious especially the oat cinnamon ice latte. The staff was lovely too.

Suggested on parkrun website for Conygham Hall parkrun which is a short walk from finish through carpark and alongside the river. Standard cafe menu with plenty of choice. Runners can get a special deal of a sausage or bacon bap with a coffee at a special price. Coffee was excellent and the sandwiches were tasty & filling. When I do this parkrun again I’ll be back to the Black Mulberry.

The food was delicious. Although there was no queue for tables, we still had a 45-minute wait for the food to be cooked. Would recommend the Eggs Benny. However, I would still come back. Service personnel were very apologetic for the delay, stating the delay was because of the nearby Great Yorkshire show but I think it was because it was a lovely sunny day in a rather cold and wet British summer.

We visited the Black Mulberry on Friday for the Weekend Unwind night. The atmosphere was casual and friendly and the staff were very attentive throughout. The food was good quality and well presented. (The tempura king prawn and mango salad was lovely). Whether it’s just a drink or a meal, if you are on Waterside on a Friday evening I recommend calling in.

We called here for brunch , then breakfast the following day . Food was really lovely , and a good price . Staff really friendly , made to feel welcome . The carrot cake was to die for !!!!! . Would definitely recommend . Thanku guys

Stopped by for a coffee and cake, had a piece of toasted banana bread with butter. OMG it was the best banana cake I've ever had anywhere, I didn't want it to end, absolutely delicious. Staff very friendly, can't wait to go again.

My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant and reasonably priced lunch here. The lady at the till was lovely too - remaining calm and friendly despite having a problem taking cashless payments at the time. Would recommend.

Great food with a relaxing atmosphere

The food is good the staff are fantastic.... but all the dogs and their owners are awful. Barking dogs and some sat on the seats .... hideous. I feel so sorry for the hardworking staff.

Although we went on a Sunday which was very busy the staff managed tables very quickly and efficiently and we were seated with ease. The cakes and coffee were served quickly, coffee was lovely and I enjoyed my scone, my partner wasn’t a big fan of the cake but that is down to preference. Toilets were clean and overall I would go back again for some coffee :)

The cafe overlooks was river Nidd and considering its location we found it reasonably priced and the food was excellent. We had a couple of toasted ciabatta sandwiches with chips which were very nice. I also recommend the homemade lemonade. The staff were also friendly and our food arrived earlier that we were told.

Super welcoming (thank you to Dawn) and super gluten free! Today we had egg and bacon gluten free sandwich and a pot of te. My regular eating friend ha d regular crumpets with butter all very much enjoyed. Our second visit. We will be back.

Searching for a lunch on a cold Monday, many places in Knaresborough were either closed or just didn’t attract us. We really found an excellent place at the Black Mulberry. Smoked salmon pate (obviously home made) and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs perfectly done. Simple food well done, just what you want. Thank yo

The Black Mulberry has always a favourite place to go for breakfast but if possible it just got better with the introduction of the BM Big Bap to the menu! 😋 Awesome way to start the day, accompanied by the delicious coffee ☕️ Try it - you won’t regret it! 😁

Stopped for brunch on a sunny spring day by the river. The “Eggs Benny” were simply sublime with the poached eggs cooked to perfection and the hollandaise sauce properly warm (unlike some places where it can often be cold by the time it’s served). Staff are very friendly, and sound happy in their work. Would definitely return if coming back to Knaresborogh.

Another fabulous lunch with great food. We were lucky, being a party of 7, but were quickly accommodated. It's really good, and we'll definitely be back again.

We just had a lovely meal and a few drinks as a young family tonight. We saw it was open later on a Friday and gave it a go and we are so glad we did! The staff were lovely and very inviting (even with an 10 month old!) the cocktails were delicious and the food was too! It was a great atmosphere for an evening. We will definitely be back again!

Gorgeous spot overlooking the river Nidd. Outside seating with blankets available for frosty weather. Normally provide waitress service but the day I visit the iPad wasn't working, not that walking up to the counter was a problem given the cosy size of the cafe. They did a very reasonable parkrun deal of a hot drink and a bap for £5, accommodating my veggie request with eggs. Not sure whether there would be a vegan option or not. They charged 20p extra for oatmilk which is a lot less than most places but that was for an American so a latte might have been the usual 50p I guess. There was quite a selection of breakfast offerings and quite a few cakes to choose from. The coffee was very good quality and bag available to buy to take home.

A very friendly cafe and dogs are welcome. They have the best toasted teacakes and the coffee is steaming hot, just how I like it. The new toilets are excellent, very clean and modern. I would highly recommend 👌

My favourite cafe in Knaresborough. Always friendly service and good food - it is a real treat to enjoy a coffee outside by the river when the weather is good.

Had a lovely brunch here for my partner's birthday. I had a bacon and egg bap and he had a bacon bap, lovely tasting good quality food. Coffee was lovely too, they had oat milk and syrups, can't want much more than that !

Took my friend on Tuesday it was her birthday. We just called for a drink on her surprise trip out . The staff were so kind came with the best chocolate brownie we have ever had with a candle and sang happy birthday to her . A lovely cafe with all home cooked cakes scones and great meals We will be back next time for lunch Thank you so much for helping to make her day special

Stopped by here for brunch before setting off home after a couple of days in Knaresborough. What a find it was, lovely spot by the river, really friendly staff who made a fuss of our dog and best of all, lovely food. Wish we had found it sooner and we will definitely be back.

A dog friendly cafe at the side of the River Nidd at Knarsborough. The food is freshly made and tastes good too. It's all on one level so it is accessible to wheelchairs and family friendly too, they are happy to provide hot water to heat babies bottles and have high chairs as well. There isn't a carpark on site but there is a public carpark fairly close by.

Visited on a very busy Sunday with crazy weather and had a fantastic time. I had a perfectly cooked jacket potato and my Mum had the angus burger which was also 10/10 - both had tasty side salads. We sat outside on comfortable seating with a great view of the water. The staff were all really warm and on top of all that it's really dog friendly! Will definitely be returning in the not-too-distant future!

Good selection of vegan options, and staff were knowledgable about gluten free food. I had a sandwich with gluten free bread and some delicious fresh soup :) Would love to see soya milk available, as oat milk is not gluten free :( EDIT: the oat milk is gluten free!! look forward to trying a coffee next time :)

Went for our first Black Mulberry Burger Night! Absolutely delicious, not to be missed. We had ‘The Elvis’ and ‘The Porker’ with generous sides of chips and onion rings. Friendly, attentive service and will definitely be back again!

Second visit, fabulous food both savoury and sweet and reasonably priced.

Dog friendly, really friendly and helpful staff and nice atmosphere. We sat outside and although the view of the river Nidd is blocked, it was still nice to people watch. We had a tuna cheese melt which was delicious, a cherry blondie which was nice but a bit small (maybe that's just me) and some coffees. We also got a dog sausage, which seemed like a whole cooked sausage which had been cut up. It was hot which wasn't ideal for the dog but she ate it all!

Came here today by chance after having a bad experience at The Ugly Duckling.Hubby had the breakfast muffin which he said was perfect and I had toasted banana bread which was the best I have tasted.We both had cappuccinos which were delicious.The waitress who served us was extremely pleasant and friendly as was the young girl who asked how our food was.We will definitely be back here as it was really lovely food and service!!

The food was okay but the pasta salad or mayonnaise in the BLT gave my sister horrible food poisoning that has lasted for over a day, additionally the bread in all of the sandwiches was old and stale tasting. However the homemade Yorkshire rascal was delicious.

Stopped by for a coffee ☕ which was very good, food that others were enjoying well presented & looked nice. Wide variety of breakfast options available until late morning then lunch is on offer. Outdoor & indoor seating, great location to soak up the setting. 😁👍
