Lovely place for a family celebration. Staff were very helpful food was excellent and child friendly. Pudding with a candle surprise for the birthday boy was a lovely touch thank you 😊

Five of us enjoyed a meal here. The menu offers a good variety of different dishes. All meals were delivered without delay and arrived on hot plates. The service was excellent and we had the best time in a cosy corner of the restaurant.

Went for a sit down curry with another couple. The place was buzzing. Food was excellent thanks to the chef Rocky. Great food great atmosphere lovely team recommend the restaurant. Second time there both times amazing looking forward to our next visit.

Four of us visited last evening for a friends Birthday, it was our friends first time at The Black Horse. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted & welcomed & shown to a lovely round table. Our drinks order was taken & served promptly. We then ordered our food, 3 of us had different curries with sides & the other a lamb shank. Our food was beautiful, freshly cooked, hot & absolutely delicious. Then came a big surprise, a birthday dessert for my friend with a candle & 4 spoons & we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’. Then another bottke of wine appeared & the chef came out & asked us about whether we enjoyed our meals. One of the waitresses came over & chatted ‘her name began with ‘A’. They both laughed, spent time with us & were so friendly, welcoming & chatty. I can honestly say it was one of the nicest evenings we have had, everything was PERFECT. We can’t thank the staff enough for taking good care of us & making our evening so special. We will be returning VERY soon.

The Manager andrea the chef rocky and other staff was brilliant and doing a wonderful job and Im certainly proud of their welcoming me and my parents and I would recommend everyone to go to the Black Horse Hookwood and try their food its 100% brilliant Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We normally go there for a meal the day before flying from Gatwick. The place has changed ownership and is now more of a restaurant than a pub, although it has a bar you can sit at on bar stools but all the tables are for eating at. We hadn't booked because the last time we went we just went in and sat down for a drink then ordered some food, but this time we had to wait for a table. As is was Sunday it was very busy but we got a table within 5 minutes. Not a great selection for vegans so we had the Vegan Whopper Wrap with chips, they also do an extensive Indian menu. I asked the waitress what was in the wrap and she said 'vegetables', however when it came it had 2 onion bhajis in each wrap. Later she came to ask if everything was ok and I said, 'there are just onion bhajis in the wrap' to which she replied 'yes, don't you like them?' I said 'yes we do' I just wasn't expecting onion bhajis in the wraps. My guess is that they don't really know how to cater for vegans and just put the bhajis into the wraps as they also offer them for a starter, funnily enough I was going to order bhajis for a starter, which I was glad that I didn't. Anyway the bhajis were nice but they also do veggie curry and a side dish of vegetables so its not like there were no veggies available, but very plain with just some lettuce in the wrap and on the plate. Reasonably priced and we will go there again but maybe next time we will have a curry.

Ten of us last Saturday enjoyed the delicious food, really is a great place again, staff are dedicated and welcoming and there is something for everyone on the menu. For me it’s the best curry in Horley…

Since the new owner have taken over this is the best pub/restaurant in the area. Food and staff are outstanding and was given some extra king prawn in my doggy bag. And apple and blackberry flapjack crumble is a must!!

Decided to stop for lunch on the spur of the moment. Have eaten here previously & had no complaints. On this occasion, our meals weren't great. Chicken tikka wrap had salad leaves in it & they were mushy & slimy... apparently they'd been grilled. Bottom half of burger bun was soaked with water from a very large, very fresh but extremely wet lettuce leaf. The reason I've given 4 stars despite the issues with our meals is because of the exceptional & professional service we received from start to finish. We were greeted warmly, table service was very good and when we politely gave feedback on the issues with our meals, the staff, including the chef, could not have done more to make things right. It's very rare to receive such outstanding customer service but credit where it's due.

We’ve been here on a friday afternoon for a late lunch . it was absolutely buzzing inside and outside but the food and service were amazing. Staff really helpful and with a smile on the face even though it was a hot and busy day for them . we had beef wellington and lamb bryani and both disesh were brilliant . Service was amazing, Andrea in particular but all over servers were incredibly polite and happy, I have no complaints at all really enjoyed the meal and was definitely made up by the staff.

A great find with good food and excellent service. Masses of food choices, including Indian specialities. Rock the chef came to the tables to gather feedback, very enthusiastic and keen to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved. Good location 2 mins from accommodation prior to Gatwick flight.

A wonderful meal in a very good venue with a vibrant atmosphere. Good selection of traditional pub meals and Indian cuisine and decent beers to choose from, all at a reasonable price. The ONLY problem is, it would appear vaping is permitted inside this establishment and a few inconsiderate customers who, thought it was acceptable to exhale smelly and unpleasant fumes around the place, spoilt the overall enjoyment and experience. Vapers, like smokers, should be politely directed outside where they would not subject other diners, to a thick fog and pong, when they are trying to enjoy a lovely meal!

Only visit this lovely pub on my way back from work to home which is 5 mins away, for a quick pint so have not had the pleasure of eating there yet, although it smells amazing and the murmurs are always very positive from those who have. Always a warm friendly welcome from the amazing team and always quick professional service … generally my pint is half poured before I’ve settled on the bar stool! Hardly ever visited before the new team took over as staff always grumpy and found the place grotty, now it’s a pleasure to sneak into for a sneaky pint served by an amazingly friendly professional team.

I would like to appreciate the entire service staff, excellent food, I visit every other week it’s is just amazing to find something around horley and near Gatwick airport would definitely recommend to visit atleast once.

Most dreadful Sunday roast ,like leather ,cold tasteless.Please stick to curry we had large party all kept to English menu, service taking orders poor. Vegetables raw,cold including potatoes. Clearing dishes took for ages,sweet menu delivered ,no order taken nearly 40 mins ,some of our guest left.,In all 3 hours for meal from start to finish.

What a great find! Walking distance from our hotel around the corner. A very warm welcome when we arrived, lovely atmosphere with a fairly full restaurant of happy diners. Exceptional menu, caters well for Vegetarians .. I chose the pineapple curry and wondered why it isn't a regular elsewhere, stunning flavours. Partner had the chicken Tikka wrap with sweet potato fries and salad, another amazing meal. Cobra to drink and one to take away to the hotel for a night cap. Lovely staff, lovely building, amazing food, thanks to all (well done chef!)

We live local to the black horse and it’s been for years not to bother!!! But now it’s been taken over, with great new management, bar staff were very friendly helpful. Good drinks. The manager there was so helpful and friendly! The chef came out to talk to us, what a lovely guy! His menus and cooking was fantastic. The lamb chops, and main and rice were 5 star. Both classic British dishes and a great selection of traditional Indian food. We had some Indian street food to start (Samosa Chaat etc) which was on-point and then moved onto Classic Grilled Butterfly Chicken burgers...great portion size and amazing buttermilk taste. This Pub/Restaurant is a great place with ample parking. The vibe was fantastic - staff very attentive. Excellent balance of both Meat n Vegetarian/Vegan dishes on the menu. Having 2 extremely critical children when it comes to food, they were super happy and couldn't wait to come back 🙂 The customer base is very diverse ranging from family's, to groups of friends and couples.

We are lucky to have such an amazing pub in Horley! The food and service are the best in the area. They offer Indian and English food that are equally delicious. Can’t wait to visit again!

Black horse has been transformed from what it was before. A really nice and joyous place for us to visit as a family. Really nice staff , chefs and branch manager. Everyone is so nice and make a point to personally connect which is really lovely. We would recommend this pub to anyone interested. You will not regret it.

Oh what a shame, this pub used to be such a good pub to visit and the pub grub style food was very good. Now it is half empty , the draft ale has an appalling taste, more like Sarsons Vinegar than Doom Bar. The fish has a very fishy smell, so obviously not fresh. The lamb shank was very small well and truly over cooked and served on a yellow stodgy substance that looked like custard. Never again!

We took a couple of friends here for dinner last night as it is local and we knew it had changed hands. We liked the choice of indian or classic pub food. I had the lamb on risotto rice which was something different but worked really well and was tasty. Our friends both had classic pub food which they enjoyed and the portions were plenty. The staff were hard working and very attentive. Towards the end of the evening the chef came out to ask how we had found the food and have a chat, he is clearly extremely passionate about his food, that was lovely touch. It is lovely to find a pub that is clearly going to be a fantastic place to eat and that that isn't trying to rip off with overpriced food. We will most definitely be returning.
