Weeknight meal with friends. Food was good, nice and hot. Menu is a bit predictable l, but for pub grub all the basics are covered. Place was very quiet and we felt like we were expected to leave by about 9.30 as we were the only ones there, and the lights in the rest of the pub had been turned off, so that was a bit of a shame.

What a pleasant surprise, very friendly staff. The ribs we're just amazing, came right off the bone, everything was just tasty and arrived quickly, no complaints, it was a great visit!!

I was there for a wake, after an early funeral. The staff were very accommodating by allowing us in earlier than booked, and tea and coffee was supplied. The buffet food, when brought out, was excellent and plentiful.

A first visit as part of a very large family gathering and overall, very pleased. Considering that there were 20+ of us, the staff did a great job of getting everyone served at pretty much the same time. One slight mix up with one order. The food quality was very good on the whole and reasonably priced. The bao bun starter was an exception - not a lot of it! Some people were grumbling about the price of drinks but again, I thought they were pretty comparable with what you'd expect to pay in a decent pub. Being tucked away in tjhe skittle alley did mean going to the bar to get drinks rather than table service but that was speedy enough. On the whole, good service, good food and reasonable prices.

Had a birthday meal there yesterday, party of 10. Service was exceptional, our server went above and beyond. Definitely will be back.

We had a very poor meal here last night. The liver and bacon dish was served with liver raw (red in the middle). The ribs were cooked but served cold and the vegetarian lasagne was burnt on the top. My sausages were okay.

Went here with two girlfriends in a freezing midweek evening and plenty of people eating to create a nice atmosphere and it was lovely and warm. The pub has been re-decorated since my last visit and felt fresh, and cosy seats were very comfortable. Cannot comment on the starters as we had main and couldn’t resist a pud! I had the pork belly which was delicious accompanied with dauphonise potatoes, broccoli 🥦 al dente and carrots 🥕 butter soft - perfect! My friend is gf and veggie and it was no problem catering for her - I couldn’t help sneaking one of her chips! My other friend declared her chicken in Madeira sauce with bubble n squeak perfection. I was supposed to have shared my chocolate orange brownie but somehow ate it myself it was so good!! Highly recommend this pub and looking forward to coming back!

Did not like the small choice on menu. Had to wait for the meal. The meal was OK. It was very busy at the time and could be the reason for the waite. Staff is OK.

It's always a good experience here. It feels like visiting friends because the staff make you feel so welcome and 'at home'. In addition, the food is so good. I recommend the seafood sharing platter.

Great venue and fabulous food and service

Absolutely first class evening at The Black Horse tonight. The food was phenomenal and the staff absolutely lovely. I can't recommend enough. Looking forward to going back soon ☆☆☆☆☆

We visited last night for our team Christmas meal. The food was delicious, the decor was beautiful and although it was very busy, it had a fantastic atmosphere without being loud. I particularly enjoyed how brilliant the staff were, especially the younger waitress who went above and beyond for us and lovely Bruce, the dog!

Great food service a little slow they seemed to be short on staff but we had a wonderful evening. Would highly recommend 👌

Excellent. Tasty, hot food, freshly cooked which arrived swiftly. Good wine at an affordable price point. Very friendly charming and helpful staff. Relaxed comfortable seating well spaced out to give an airy private feel. Not rushed or pushing to vacate the table. Lovely decor. No music - yay! First time visit and will return. Very good value.

We held our Christmas party at Black Horse Inn. Delicious food and good service . We had a great fun with our colleagues. What a wonderful night it was.

Had my father’s wake at the pub and to be honest we were very disappointed. Got charge £50 to hire a back room which was cold and people had to keep there coats on. The food was very basic and to be honest I was pretty embarrassed with what got sent out, a few people mentioned the standard of food was low and we had to pay £11.00 ahead on top of the room hire….it was probley worth £5/6 !!

4 of us went for SUNDAY Lunch. As we had been there before with friends during weekday times, we thought we would try Sunday. Absolutely packed. We had the Sunday roast. My meat was good-Beef-- My wifes lamb was very fatty and tough. Very disappointed at veg--overcooked and roasties ran risk of breaking out teeth!! Service very good and told the lad to tell chef food not up to par. Our thoughts were that as it was packed chef was rushed off feet! Did not complain or ask for replacement roasties as it was so busy. If we return will NOT be on a Sunday.

Great food, lovely decor and very helpful staff. Parking is limited at busy times, though there are spaces in Findon village. Definitely recommended.

I’m not often moved to write a review but this place is exceptional. I had the lunchtime special, lamb ragout pappardelle, and it was sublime. Freshly cooked and delicious. Our dogs were welcome and the friendly table service was attentive. We will definitely be back. Thank you Sian, Lisa and the pups.

Nice pub, lovely decor, great service, clean and well maintained. Lovely menu, which gets updated regularly and well presented, amazing food. Very nice and polite staff. I'm definitely going back. The only issue is that the carpark is very dark, poorly lit for elderly peopme and single ladies, with some trip hazards, otherwise a great place.

Very welcoming pub. The staff were very warm and welcoming. We had roast beef. Lovely. Yorkshire puds etc. Definitely recommend eating there.

Ten family members attended for a birthday Sunday lunch celebration, set for 3.30. Despite this relatively late start we were soon seated and had our orders taken for a varied choice of roasts. These soon arrived with everything nicely cooked, hot & meats in particular in good quantity. Add to that the more than reasonable cost meant we all left more than satisfied. We would happily return.

Having had a disaster with a booking for six of us today at another pub/restaurant, the team at the Black Horse were amazing. As access was impossible, at the initial pub, for my friend who is dependent on his wheelchair, I phoned in complete panic asking for an immediate booking for six of us, who had travelled to meet from different parts of the county. It was important that there would be good table and lavatory access. Although there was a function in the restaurant, immediate help was offered and by the time we arrived an appropriate table was set up for us. Our meal was delicious, good quality and portions, and service was sensitive. Thank you

Great food Great service and great staff

The roasts are superb, not our first visit. We had 2 Beef Roasts and a Chicken Roast. Tender meat, crispy roast potatoes, parsnips, vegetables all washed down with a bottle of House Merlot. We did book and it was extremely busy, but cannot fault the food or the service. Well done Black Horse, so lucky we have you in Findon.

Came here for skittles and a 3 course meal. The skittles is a nice unique part about the pub which is great for a large group of people. The food was pretty good and the service was good despite it being busy. Beer was okay. Not great for a beer enthusiast. The Harvey's was fine but it ran out so had to have Doom Bar

Our first time visiting the Black Horse with our granddaughters and the boyfriend of one of them. My husband and I had the lamb from the specials board. What a lovely surprise that the plate wasn't overloaded with a lot of almost raw vegetables and a lot of tough meat. Everything was cooked just right. Our granddaughters and boyfriend also ate all their meals, again the plates not overloaded. Afterward, we all had the white chocolate cheesecake, and that too was really lovely. All the staff were really friendly, which added to an enjoyable meal and evening. We were staying in a nearby village cat sitting while our daughter and husband were on holiday and met up with the granddaughters, who we haven't seen a couple of months. Thank you, everyone at the Black Horse, we will be back when we are visiting family again!

The food was nice but not as good as I have had there before. The cheeseboard had very bland cheese and our main had chantenay glazed carrots that had seen better days and were hidden under the rainbow chard.. lovely wine though!

Fantastic country pub, the food was on point and real pub portions which is always a delight. Gorgeous interior with stylish warm welcome. The staff and resident staffy are super friendly and welcoming 👌🏻

Home from home roast dinner. We had chicken roast and beef roast. Both was excellent quality. Beef nice and tender and chicken very moist. Roast potatoes were first class. You can always tell if made the previous day as they taste funny but these were fresh and crispy too. Veg nice and tasty and yorkie pudding tasted great too. They do a small (foals) portion for £5 less which I had and was a perfect size. Still did it have enough room for a pud! Staff are really friendly and helpful - nice to see lots of smiles. Atmosphere was great too with locals around but also families having lunch together. Will certainly return and could be our go to pub for a roast dinner.

We booked a table for 4 adults for Sunday lunch at 5pm. As soon as we walked in we got a friendly welcome from one of the female staff members who showed us to our table. We ordered 3 roast beef’s and a creamy chicken and mushroom pie. My daughter’s partner is lovely but fussy about veg and the roast dinners included cabbage which he doesn’t like. I asked the waitress if they’d possibly be able to provide a portion of peas and it was no problem at all. She even listed the beers and ales so my husband didn’t need to go to the bar to look at what was on offer and she was very knowledgeable about the cocktails. We waited around 15 mins for our food which was about right for us and it was absolutely worth the wait! The beef was beautifully cooked as was the veg and I know some people like mash or new potatoes with their Sunday lunch, but for me, a roast is only complimented with roast potatoes. There wasn’t any mash or a new potato in sight leaving room for an extra roastie so I was delighted! They were totally stunning! Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. I also asked for extra gravy which was no issue, we got a separate boat of it and it was absolutely delicious and really full of flavour. The veg and parsnips were also cooked to perfection. My husband’s pie was succulent and he said it was super tasty. The pastry was well cooked and flaky and definitely home made. None of this pre made stuff you sometimes get. The portion sizes were also generous. I’m from Worthing originally but have lived up north for over a decade and appreciate the prices down here are higher. I was expecting something very good for the price that I was paying and it did not disappoint. Both my daughter and her partner who live here said they’ll be recommending it and when I come back to Worthing I’ll be back. Fabulous staff offering a brilliant service and the food was stunning!

Attended a 50th Birthday party where they had sole use of the skittles alley. Great fun. Finger buffet was standard fare. Friendly bar staff.

We were delighted to be accommodated by the friendly staff when we needed a last minute dinner booking. The food was excellent, especially the seafood sharing platter!!! Prices are good and the atmosphere is relaxing and friendly.

Truly the best food I've eaten!

Had an awful Ploughman’s. Budget pork pie, awful pastry and inedible filling, very small portion (tablespoon worth at best) of cheap tasting coleslaw, soggy apple slices, measly amount of bread. Cheese and ham was nice, but overall very disappointed indeed and definitely not worth the money!

Went for a roast dinner for our 33rd Wedding anniversary with our daughter and son-in-law. The visit was excellent. The food,drink, and service were excellent. Thank you!

Ok, another 5 stars, bit very much worthy of it. A lovely atmosphere and staff that want to make your day or evening better. Lovely food and sizeable portions, this ticks all the boxes. This is a must visit venue.

Lovely pub, I've been here twice for funeral receptions and the staff are fabulous. Buffet food was delicious and Service is excellent.

Stopped here several years & wasn't much good.Tried again several days ago, wow what a difference.We had the seafood which I can recommend.Great choice of menu very nice people, we will return.

Came here recently after our kids 6christening to have Sunday roasts. Such a lovely place. Best roast we've had out in ages. Good price. Stopped here on the off chance. What a surprising lucky find! Although we are local never tried this pub before. Our two pooches were welcomed and thoroughly spoilt!Ordered a shared seafood platter with skinny fries. This arrived way above our expectations! Beautifully presented, fresh and utterly delicious! Have been here many times always very good. Today it was rubbish (Monday 15/04/2024). all three steaks ordered were overdone and like old shoe leather. The chips were half cooked. The ribs were fine the 'barbecue' sauce was tasteless. Mentioned it to the staff but was to angry to argue paid and left. Will not be going again.

We were due to visit another pub for a Sunday roast some distance away but due to traffic we couldn’t make it. On a bit of chance we called the Black Horse and were provided a table for 2 within 10 mins ! The food was very good as was the wine so it turned out to be a bonus we got caught in traffic! Staff were very good and food came out hot and quite quickly. As a couple who love eating out for a Sunday roast this was fantastic! If I had to mention anything we were missing it would be pigs in blankets (would be happy to pay extra) and thicker cauliflower cheese sauce (taste was great though ) . Will be returning next week ! Thankyou !

This is our local go-to restaurant, as a family of three it is a place we always enjoy coming to. The restaurant has a warm feeling to it. The staff are brilliant and landlord and landlady are very friendly. Food is great quality and just the right amount of choice.

Clean, fresh and very popular pub and restaurant that has transformed in recent years into a place people travel to visit. Car park is woefully too small for the number of people that visit this place, so be prepared on a busy night to have to park a couple of hundred metres down a narrow and completely unlit road in winter before walking back. They also have a traditional bowling alley and events room rust can be hired which is excellent for private events. Staff have always been efficient and friendly, in as much as you have time to be in a busy hospitality situation. It has a nice vibe and is a regular haunt of several people I know, mainly for food and drink rather than a place to come and get drunk.

Outstanding food, service and staff. It was difficult to decide what to choose as so many of the dishes were appealing. Very good portion sizes and quality of food was exceptional. A lovely atmosphere too, very welcoming. Highly recommend.

We just had an excellent meal at this lovely local pub, absolutely delicious food, friendly staff and a really enjoyable meal put with friends.. highly recommended, full rack of ribs was excellent value for money and tasted great.. 10 stars if I could.

Lovely food and superb service as normal. Just one problem on this visit. Bruce the house dog seems to be lovely apart from when he went for our dog twice! He shouldn’t be aloud just to roam freely if he has attendances to do this.

Myself and my family visited Black horse findon yesterday, for an early mother's day lunch! We had a table of 8 plus 2 little ones! The service was outstanding from start to finish - we were lucky enough to chat about the pits and peeks of hospitality with the owner, as our family are all now ex hospitality but involved for 25+ years! It's not often you find such a relaxed, beautiful pub with fantastic food and great service. But this place really hits the nail on the head! Some of the party indulged in the special rump lamb - cooked perfectly Whilst others had items from the regular menu - no faults again! We have come as a family a few times in the past, but it's a definite we will return! And to top it off, it's our favourite 'pub' as a family! The bill came to £300 odd for a table of 8, with wine, starters, mains and puddings! £37.50 per head! Bargain! ( and that's including a service charge - which we happily topped up, as I'm a strong believer in 10%! ) Thank you to the team at black horse - we will be back very soon 😊

Asked my dad what he wanted for his Birthday and his request was liver & bacon - I had seen it previously in this group at The Black Horse Findon - I’ve not been for a few years!! We have been missing out - Service 10/10 - The Landlord and staff were all very chatty and friendly all the diners were laughing and joking with them Food 10/10 I went for Salmon, which was beautifully cooked, with roasted new potatoes and cabbage, Mark went for the full rack of ribs, something you don’t see in many restaurants locally nowadays only chains? Mum chose a special of the specials board of lamb, & roasted veg, of course, Dad had liver & bacon !! - the portions were good! - very good we were all stuffed - but still managed desserts Dad had apple and blackberry crumble, Mark and Mum had waffles while I went for a classic cheeseboard! - it was so big I bought some cheese home for the dogs - literally a doggy bag! The food and drinks were reasonably priced £125 with 8 drinks - 4 were alcoholic - it was so good my Mum & Dad booked for next Saturday It’s proper pub grub but fancier and the best part of my evening was seeing Chef Hamoudi Qiradar 💃 They have a Skittles alley to which is great fun and lots of families enjoying it This is a pub you all need to try!
