Second time I've been in since the latest takeover by a regular of 20 odd year. Said owner basically stuck on his laptop at the bar ( maybe I'm wrong ) if I'm right as he was telling the bar staff what to do a simple hello would go a long way. To get to the bar to play pool we had to walk through the lounge disturbing the music as the bar door was not open. If your a real ale fan don't bother its average Guinness or john Smith's. Gutted as when I read in the Echo a local of 20 year was taking over I thought it would make all the difference. In a positive note if you want a private function it should be spot on with the new partition.

Lovely food at the blackbush today, very friendly staff with excellent customer service skills. Noticed that someone had left a review about the tables being sticky, i work in a pub/resturant & this is due to the sanitizer used to keep the tables clean. Will definately go back

we tried the Bush as its under new ownership. They staff are lovely and friendly. We sat at a table of our choice as it was pretty quiet but upon sitting down noticed the table was dirty and sticky. We were asked to place our order at the bar where ther is no social distancing markers so the few people around were too close. However we were served promptly. We ordered a burger and chicken in sauce. Both presented really well. The chicken was really nice but the burger was dry with hard bits round the edges.and seemed a bit old to be honest so I did not eat it.

My husband and I have been customers at the Black Bush and viit regularly. The Sunday carvery is always well supported and is ecxcellent value for money. Tracy always has a good selection of meats and all vegatbles are fresh, nothing tinned at all. I hope those who visit the Bush each Sunday will continue to support Tracy and I know your attendance is much appreciated.

Having held my sister's wake there in February and being pleased at the buffet they provided, I decided to take some family there when next I visited Washington. It was the Wednesday Carvery and I asked if there was a vegetarian option.... I was given a specially prepared dish( veggie sausages, roasts and stuffing) to go with the carvery vegetables and it was delicious. The family tucked in to the carvery which had 3 choices of meat and 3 prices depending on how much meat you wanted..small at £4, regular and then large at £7 (mine was I think £5.50) There was a good selection of puddings, which I was too full to have but the younger members enjoyed apple pie and custard at £2.50 each. We sat for a couple of hours and thoroughly enjoyed it. The manageress, Claire, came to tell us that they were doing some renovation work and would be closed for 2 weeks in September but were having a grand reopening. There would be an old-time bar with games like there used to be with a separate entrance and the dining area was to be refurbished too. This management has really made a difference and we will certainly be back!

Last year I decided I wasn't having enough Sunday dinners so I decided to start having them regularly eating out with a friend. In the time that has passed I have found some great places and some not so great places. But for the price you pay this is as good as it gets. Carvery style it trounces the Toby Carvery hands down. Available in 3 plate sizes each getting a bit more expensive. Yorkshire pudding is small although on a large plate you do get 2 as well as stuffing and sausage. Veg is basic but cooked to perfection and without disappointment. Meat again basic but it has been slow cooked ensuring tenderness and a happy customer.. The real standouts here being the cauliflower cheese, roasties and mash. The cauliflower cheese is heaven honest to god you have to try it. Roasties are fried and come out fresh very often. In my quest to find the best in the region I often find the best places can't even compete with these roasties and that is due to the freshness. And the mash is chock full of Lurpak so its always going to taste amazing. Yet to find a lump! This coupled with being able to get a pudding after for only £2 really is a testament to how much I love coming here! Is it going to win a Michelin Star? No. But it isn't going to break the bank and they do the simple stuff well. Not every week you want a Sunday Roast can you afford somewhere fancy but you still want one to cure your hangover and this is the perfect venue for that. they also do a roast on a Wednesday too and that is cheaper!

I booked the Black Bush for the funeral of a close family member. I asked for a simple selection of sandwiches etc (to include vegetarian) plus tea and coffee. i catered for 20 people at £3 a head. I expected very basic food, instead there was a really good selection of sandwiches plus quiches and plate meat pies and savouries.. There was a large hot water urn, tea bags and coffee etc for us to help ourselves .. About 40 people attended yet there was enough food for everyone. As it was a Wednesday there was a carvery in the main room which looked very good...there was a choice of two roasts and a nice selection of veg that I could see. Families were coming in for the carvery which was reasonably priced. This is an old Pub and has been in the village for over a hundred years ..it isn't in what is now the "village" but up Village Lane from the smithie's

Didn't go well at all. There must have been problems in the kitchen or it just wasn’t organised in advance. To leave customers waiting hours between courses isn’t good. The portion sizes were small, this wouldn’t have been so bad but considering the price I think people expected more. The waitresses did a great job and were very patient in what I can imagine was a difficult situation. I think, had the management announced that there were going to be problems and perhaps offered customers a refund for those who couldn’t or wouldn’t wait that may have defused the situation. I think some sort of part refund or free drinks would have helped. Having served Christmas dinner to 330+ in the past I know it takes a lot of planning, but can be successful if it’s well organised and quality meals are served. I only hope this is a one off and they can learn from their mistakes, as this pub is located in a stunning little village and could be an asset to the area.

Family Christmas Dinner : Sat down at 13:00 for our much awaited and looked forward to Festive Christmas Dinner with the Family . Our Starter arrived to what I can only describe as a wet looking plate of "out of the bag" mixed salad (probably from Aldi) with a micro "very" thin tasteless slice of pate presented with soggy soft tomatoes (also probably from Aldi) . An hour and 30 minutes later our main course arrived ! What a gastronomical delight this was !! One " cooked from frozen" Aunt Bessie Yorkshire Pudding , Two or three "cooked from Frozen" Roast Potatoes , mushy over cooked sprouts , Burnt and blackened "crunchie" stuffing , under cooked "pink in the middle sausages" wrapped in bacon !! were the pigs in blankets FROZEN ! Maybe ? Did they buy all the food from Aldi ? Maybe ! THEY then gave us some gravy to pour over this " Salvation Army" Christmas Dinner to which I can only articulate as, YUK ! from a soup kitchen ! we all waited for our Christmas pudding but after three hours of waiting and rerouting our taxis 3 times, enough was enough and we left . Cost per person for this meal was £44 each as there was 17 of us the total cost was circa £750 (paid in advance) I'm sure I could of bought all the above food for less than £50 from ALDI .The owners should be ashamed !! My Recommendations : Spend some money on decent ingredients and employ a qualified chef - Give your waiting staff a rise !! they deserved it , they had to listen to all the complaints .The food industries are about REPUTATION and not always PROFIT !

Friendly enough staff. Cheap food. Meat was not as good as normal and some of it was overcooked. Worst of all.is that the carrots and roast potatoes were frozen and that never used to happen. No mashed potato and sweetcorn with Sunday dinner..strange. So really not sure if I would return. Would be nice if the manager would explain why the standards are dropping.

This should of been a good review. We held my husbands surprise party at the Black Bush and the staff were helpful with the arrangements. The next day they refused to return our deposit as they said the room was a mess and people had drunk their own alcohol. The barmaid actually said it took them ages to clear away the mess. I would advise anyone against booking a party here. You are obviously expected to clear away dirty glasses and possibly even mop the floors after your party. I can't comment on people drinking their own alcohol but that's not my problem anyway but the only mess was empty glasses on tables as we cleared away everything else and they was no damage to the property. The deposit was only £25 but I am furious they refused to return it as they would of made a fortune off us that night. If the people who run the place had spent more time looking after the place instead of dancing with us there might not have been as much mess for the barmaid to clean up. Totally unprofessional.

This is kind of a double review. We went early for the first one n the meats were more tender. Later on they were a bit tougher. However great value at 6 pound. Good portions. It's a carvery. The vegetables are cooked well. Nice Yorkshire pudding. Friendly service. Good pint of Moretti. So overall I would recommend.

Been to this pub over the course of a few months having recently changed hands I've tried from the menu as well as the carvery and would highly recommend this place if your after a meal to fill you up. The carvery gives you choice of 3 meats and you serve what you want in your vegetables and good value for money at 3:99 midweek and 5:99 Sunday, also does specials on currys, and burgers on other days give them a try.

Typical pub good and loaded with carbs. So, for many people that's a quick fix as it fills you up. The menu needs diversity, more taste (herbs, spices, marinades) and less warmed up quick cook fry up flavour. It's a nice space inside and just needs to try harder with quality over quantity.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on 10/9/2016. We were greeted by the staff on what appeared to be an extremely busy night. The ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant was great and the owner was at pains to ensure we had a good experience. The food was excellent my wife having a vegetarian pizza and I had the gamberoni all'aglio for our main course. The staff were pleasantly attentive and it really felt we were somewhere special in the centre of Prudhoe. This is apparently a new venture and we hope it is a big success. We pre booked for New Year's eve.

Heard this pub was dog friendly so headed along for some lunch. Bar was locked but barman opened the doors so the mut could come in. Discovered we were the only customers in a large pub at 12.30pm .Ordered fish and chips , burger and 2 cokes. £17. Came within ten mins and no one else in pub. Burger was like rubber obviously cooked from frozen,, even the dog took some persuading to eat it. Other halfs fish and chips was cheap fish with about 8 chips. Can now see why the place was empty ... If you like cheap Nasty frozen processed food then this is the place for you. Unfortunately we will NOT be returning.

Met my family here today for coffee and lunch. We were not permitted to sit on one of the three long vacant sofas inside to avoid the rain outside. We therefore decided not to have proper lunch. Sitting outside, one toasted sandwich, two milkshakes, one coffee and tea cost me well over £30. My French is very good but to describe my Cheese and Tomato toasty just in the French language was absolutely ridiculous and PRETENTIOUS. The person who took our order had no sense of humour and could not have cared less. Owners of this place please note, the most important asset a company has is its staff - and yours looked so overworked. I will not be returning to your plush sofas which customers are not allowed to sit on!
