Im a regular at the rose and crown but thought i would try here This is my first time i came here and certainly will be the last time . I had a steak which was very over cooked and my girlfriend had a fish which was still frozen in the middle. The menu stats that the fish is fresh it certainly isnt I

Came here twice in July, once as a couple and once with the family. Excellent quality and Excellent service. As a retired Home Economist, I can spot "boil in the bag" meals a mile off and there are none here. This Chef knows what he is doing. I always get amused by people calling themseleves a Chef when they are just handling microwave meals - even the great Keith Floyd called himself a Cook.Really nice Waitress who always packs up a "to go" for me as I don't always want one of the many small portions available - I am just a sucker for the specials board.Only downside is small car park - my Husband will not park in the pub car park opposite so we have to time our visits accordingly. Nothing can be done about that though.Will we return? Yes and we do come here fairly regularly.

Fuimos al Black Bull para una comida en familia, fue recomendado por un amigo y no nos decepcionó. La comida era buena y saludable, cocinado a un alto nivel y a un precio razonable. El personal era muy amable y servicial, era difícil de criticar.

Comimos allí y sin duda volveremos cuando puedo mover de nuevo. Ambos tuvimos cenas asado, una carne de pavo y la otra y nos hicimos nuestra mejor pero no podía terminar de ellos. Después de un tiempo pensamos que tendríamos los postres. Mal error. Muy sabroso y grasa y al final de la comida. A un precio razonable. Tuvimos cambio de 40 libras con las comidas y bebidas cada tres. Sin duda una visita obligada.

Pero de nuevo una muy buena comida después de viajar todo el día 6 de la mañana fuimos a la 6 pm Black Bull algo rápido y sencillo de Chris y Christine podría haber sido más servicial, gracias a todo el personal

Deliciosos alimentos. El servicio es muy amable. Disfrutamos de las comidas y el experto propietario. Nuestro grupo comimos carne, pollo y cordero. Todas las carnes eran de curso y delicioso.

4 for evening meal. Lovely cosy (see later!) pub - very old - reputedly one of the oldest licensed pubs in country. Great service, friendly staff and lovely ambience. All food was excellent, Blackpudding stack starter tasty and filling - scallops a bit on small side but good! Fishcakes superb and almost a meal on their own. As for main course, Lamb chops superb, big and succulent, steak spot on, Monk fish in Thai curry good but watery sauce overpowered the delicate fish. As for pudding too full for everybody but we shared ice cream and Belgium waffles - great. Beer excellent and good value wine list. Bill? £ 100 for four - no problem. Only issue was the draft blowing through the door to kitchen - the bar area is very cosy but the draft from kitchen is a pain - so much so we moved tables! Highly recommended - away from the draft!

Went to this pleasant pub with fire for dinner two nights when staying in the area. Good efficient friendly staff, nicely served food (we had fish pie one night which was very tasty and well cooked) Cheese platter was huge and attractively served. Wine by the glass wasn't great but reasonable priced. All in all nice pub with good atmosphere and great food

Service was very good though not a busy day food served quite fast and tasty car park not very big so on a busy day difficult to park

The Black bull had great quality pub food, you can tell everything is home made. Great service and friendly staff. We will be going again soon.

Definitely a cut above most pub food and much better quality than any of the usual chains with a smaller and more intimate dining room. Some dishes are excellent though some, notably the curries, lack authenticity. Staff are all very helpful and personable. Not quite exquisite dining but certainly at the top end of pub food on offer.

The food is lovely and the staff are aswell. We go in every thursday for a catch up with everyone. The prices have recently gone up and portions have gone smaller. But it is still nice.

No where near Chorley. Good pub with very nice real ales from Thwaites. Good quality food at reasonable prices, benefits from sitting across the road from a chain owned pub /restaurant so if you feel the need you can compare the quality and atmosphere, Black Bull wins hands down. The only reason I hold a star back is that it can be difficult to get comfortable if you're just popping in for a couple of pints as it gets so busy, but that's how they pay the bills I suppose.

Went here for a friends Daughters 21st Sat 20.04.13 The pub is great Friendly Staff,Great Beer & Brilliant Food what else do you need from a pub will be back again very very soon

Just the perfect spot for some good, honest food and some well kept cask ale- great job done on the refurb a couple of years ago- why anybody would frequent the Greene King excuse across the road defies me

fabulous home cooked food in a clean and welcoming environment. menu is good not to much choice but pklenty of food when served. definetly recommend and will return
