The food is edible but not very exciting. The menu is quite short, and somewhat heavy on carbs. Service was friendly and reasonably quick. You get your table for the whole evening so can return there during the interval if you want to. It wasn't expensive for a theatre restaurant and nor was it busy. Stratford it ain't, but if you just need something simple before a show it might fit the bill - at least it is very convenient. They also sell excellent locally brewed ale.

Firstly I would like to say how good our Waitress Christie was. The food wasn't bad and I hope my comments do not put anyone off, as this is not my intent. The presentation was good and the food tasted great. The deconstructed cheesecake however was served in a small glass with biscuit at the bottom which could not be accessed until the filling had been eaten. Needed a wider glass or smaller spoon. Serving wine out of those small plastic airline bottles is not good. My apologies if they were glass. The do have wine in bottles which I found later. The table was very wobbly. I'm told that was the floor. All in all it was a good friendly and efficient experience. I would deffinatly give it a try.

I love this restaurant, the food is always fresh and delicious and the servers are well informed and super helpful. Experience has taught me that Sunday or midweek evenings are the best time to visit as the restaurant gets very busy on Friday and Saturday night, and though the service is still good, the acoustics make it hard to maintain a conversation. Dinner here costs about as much as a pizza next door, but the food and ambiance are both way more individual. A great place to eat with friends.

Derby Theatre (previously the Playhouse) has always put on quality theatre productions and the most recent, The Odyssey was no exception. For once we decided to visit the new Bistro and save the complications of sourcing somewhere to eat prior to the show. It doesn't disappoint, from friendly staff to quality food served at a reasonable price it works well. The menu is short but has good options on it (although they did run out of one of the starters and one of the desserts on our visit), and the great thing is getting the table for the interval too, so no hassle about getting an interval drink or seat. Recommended.
