Great family atmosphere, the staff are amazing and the food on Sunday is worth the money

Just had an excellent family Sunday lunch here at the Bell and Castle. Generous portions, all fresh produce. We had the gammon and beef, pork also available. Apple crumble and cheesecake were our desserts. Service was fast and friendly. We highly recommend it. The hosts are Shay and Angela. Pay them a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Food always Fabulous and Service

1st time visiting as I'd googled Sunday lunch in Derby did not disappoint food was amazing and very generous portions staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was very homely and family orientated will definitely be returning 10/10 to all the staff.

The Bell & Castle is a really nice pub with a very friendly landlord, landlady & barman. Went to see a really good band called J Quad.

Booked the function room for my husbands 60th last Saturday and from start to finish we couldn't have been in better hands. Excellent buffet, great atmosphere and the staff couldn't have done any more to help. Will definitely book again. Thankyou so much. Tracey Hibbert.

Lovely Bar, very trendy decor. Excellent staff very friendly. There was about 20 of us and they accommodated us all in the large garden at the back. Deffo recommend. Thanks you for a great afternoon x

We cannot thank the owners and staff enough for their hard work and giving mum a beautiful send off. On what was a scorching hot day they kept over 100 guests fed and hydrated. There today for the gathering after the funeral of a dear friend and neighbour. Never visited before and I was so impressed by the warmth of the welcome and the lovely building. I will most definitely be going back there.

First time in here but friends had recommended. Landlord was very accommodating, great selection of beers and lagers. Live music and reasonable prices - won't be long before we go back!

Had our own room and everything!

Pre-booked several weeks ago. The food was fantastic and lots of it, I had the starter and main course of a lamb shank whilst my wife and daughter had a main of turkey breast and a pudding. The Mains came with lots of lovely side vegetables. My 13 year daughter is a fussy eater but she loved the way the mash potato was made. All of us were impressed and full, the service was second to none. Thank you - we will definitely be returning.

Called in to celebrate a double christening with my grandson and son-in-law niece. Fantastic spread - very reasonable priced drinks 🍸 😀 Sat outside for an hour or so then had to come inside as it was turning a little cool. Happy to recommend this local pub for a pint! Cheers 🍻 👏

I used to frequent this pub many years ago. I couldn't believe the changes. Very impressive. It seems twice as big as it was before. Really friendly and a really good pint. Highly recommended by me and my 2 sons. 👍

I last visited this pub around 7 years ago and it was a bit of a dive, not because of the staff but because the locals made you feel about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit... However, what a changed pub this now is!! It has been thoroughly refurbished and knocked through into an adjoining property making it a very modern real ale pub with more than a passing nod to the more traditional historic boozer. The food being served is of a very high quality and yet reasonably priced, will definitely return to sample next time I'm over that way. The staff (and just as importantly the regulars) are very friendly and welcoming, it is a completely different pub experience to what it once was. It should also be noted the Bell and Castle has one of the largest and perfectly maintained beer gardens within the city limits, there are even sun loungers- very quirky! One of the better real ale pubs in Derby. M

The Bell and Castle is a terrific pub located just a couple of minutes out of Derby City centre. It offers a good range of beers, Aspall which is my usual tipple poured very well and always with a smile. This pub serves food which looks splendid however I'm yet to try, I will review this in the near future. It has sky sports inside the pub as well and a lovely bar area and many ta les and chairs for sitting in comfort. The beer garden here is huge and is really worth visiting in summer. The prices is around £3.50 a pint but believe me for the vibe of the place and how friendly people are it's not a bad price at all. I believe there is a room available to hire here. More than worth a visit. You even see Jack o'connell stumble (literally) in a fee times.. What's not to love.

It may not look like a must-visit pub from the outside, but it's really lovely, with good beer, tasty food and a quality beer garden. Highly recommended.

Nice beer garden for sunny days and they have the old statue from Zanzibar in the garden. Cheap beers as well.

This is a great little pub. From the looks of the inside, it has had a makeover and looks good because of it. The beer is good with a nice selection and the Guiness is pretty good too. The staff all seem friendly enough and the pub is dog friendly which is a huge bonus for those with 4 legged companions. I've not eaten here so I cannot rate the food, however, from what I have seen, I would recommend the place.

We go to this pub when we visit relatives in Derby, an really love it. They have live music at the weekend and do a very delicious Sunday Lunch which is reasonably priced. Your order is taken and the food brought to you with a large dish of vegetables and an extra jug of gravy. One little bugbear was that there was not enough potatoes on our plates, but on request we were brought more at no extra cost. Deserts are lovely and very large, so beware!!! LOL. The hosts are excellent and very friendly people, as are the bar staff. Drinks are reasonably priced, too. I can highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for an excellent Sunday lunch and look forward to visiting again.

The hospitality in this place is amazing. The food is the best ive tasted for a while. We went to a wedding reception there , the weather was wet and cold, my husband went to get the car and we had a flat tire, when he came back he was soaked through, the landlady got him a warm towel and gave him a new dry t-shirt, to me that's friendly and going out of their way to make us welcome. A massive thankyou to you and all your staff. Xxx
