The Bishop's Finger in City of London, Westminster

My favourite pub in the area. Warm welcome and the feel of a proper local. The return of Bishops Finger Ale to the Bishops Finger is the icing on the cake.With the high quality of the beer and the tempting food menu my "pub appreciation tour" very nearly started and finished here

We called in the other day with our kids for a quick drink , fantastic pub . We enjoyed that much we went back for dinner . The staff were very friendly and could not do enough . Brilliant pub great menu and brilliant staff !!

Trad style pub, decent selection of drinks but they ran out of brandy! Toilets were upstairs seemed clean and well cared for.

Pasé algunas semanas en esta área de Londres para viajes de trabajo. Hablé con Sean (Gerente) y el dueño varias veces y fueron interesantes y divertidos, lo suficiente como para que volviera unas cuantas veces más. Planeando un viaje a la zona nuevamente a finales de este año y el primer lugar al que iré es a The Bishop's Finger.¡Este lugar es un SÍ fácil! si buscas buena comida, buena cerveza y gente fantástica.

Very nice place and friendly staff, well, some of them. Especially who we assume to be the Landlady. What a gem. The food looked amazing and it's a very well kept pint. However, the Eastern European lady needs some serious education on current British laws and regulations. When our 72 year old guest asked her about using the disabled toilets, her response was "Upstairs" He explained that he was disabled to which she said "What is your disability?" WTF??? What is your disability?? Excuse me that is none of anyone's business especially hers. Not everyone's disability is visible. That is just out and out discrimination and surely breaks every rule under the 2010 equality act. She certainly needs to be either told or trained. Apart from that, yeah, its worth a visit

Almorzamos sentados afuera en la acera, genial para ver pasar el mundo. Este es un pub Shepherd Neame y la cerveza estaba bien cuidada. Nuestra comida era buena, me sorprendió leer una mala crítica de un bocadillo de pescado porque el mío era excelente. El personal era amable y atento, volvería si en la zona de nuevo.

Visitamos alrededor de las 9 p.m. de un lunes por la noche, el personal estaba claramente desesperado por ir a casa, la limpieza comenzó cuando entramos por la puerta, cuando pedimos una bebida, fue un vistazo al reloj y un gran suspiro. ! ! ! !No es el lugar para ir si desea una bienvenida amistosa, la peor experiencia de nuestras vacaciones, me alegra decir que nunca volveremos, ¿preferiría ser abstemio?

Very busy pub opposite the meat market. Full of butchers at the end of their shift which made for a lively lively atmosphere.

Dropped in early evening, was a nice relaxed space. Big selling point is that the meats are from the market across the road and there is a lot of choice (ie range of different sausages daily). Food was fine, nothing outstanding but nothing awful either.

Had the veggie sausage mash and onions yesterday, really enjoyable and well presented, my son had the same but with cumberland sausages, both meals were enjoyed and I will be returning for more

La planta baja no es grande, aunque tiene un piso de arriba que estaba cerrado el día que fuimos a un evento privado (o al menos eso es lo que dice la notificación en la puerta, pero no había nadie en la habitación a las 7 pm). Near St Bart's hospital and the Barbican tube station. Great selection of Sheperd Neame beers on tap. Food selection was very good, the steak pie especially, fresh veg and delicious gravy. Nothing not to like here.

Fiona and her team are absolutely delightful, very friendly, welcoming and the ales are superb! Whitstable bay, Guinness are high quality and the IPA tasty too.

Came here for a few beers and a meal whilst away on a business trip. Very traditional pub with a good range of beers. I also had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and good value. Recommended.

Totally grumpy and rude barmaid..dumped the beers down..no thank you..barman scratching his lower regions and then blowing his nose into his hands..Awful..and i have moaned about a pub before

This used to be a very good pub with great food. Now it’s fairly mediocre. Ciabatta was terrible, portion sizes used to be great but now they are small. Beer seems to be less well kept than it used to be.

I had the worst, overpriced fish finger sandwich and greasy chips that came 15 minutes after everyone's food. With so many pubs offering fantastic food, they really need to raise their game. I was appalled.

My sister and I popped in here for a quick drink. The place was heaving on a Friday evening but the staff still had a smile on their faces. Great atmosphere but expensive drinks.

It's nice, in the middle of what is becoming a rapidly gentrifying Smithfields, to be able to eat basic pub grub in an old style, no frills pub. The beer choice is good, the staff friendly and the service efficient.

Nice nibbles and they know how to pour a pint. Nice din of people talking and chinking glasses and some unintended entertainment by a bloke muttering on about a lady called Barbara.

I love this pub. Having been to a number of pubs in my life this may be the best. The location was beyond convenient for where our air b&b; was and from the minute we walked in the staff made us feel welcome and by the time our holiday ended, friends. Great mix of people, decent prices. Again I say, this could be the best pub in London

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good beer and very tasty pub food. Given its tremendous location The Bishops Finger could be forgiven for charging more for its pints - but it doesn't ! It really is an excellent venue for a few beers after work on any day of the week.

This is a very sweet little pub in the corner of Smithfield that has a modern yet traditional feel. The drinks are fairly priced and the barmaid remembered what I had previously ordered, which was a friendly touch.

Netter kleiner Pub. Gutes Essen im Obergeschoss. Empfehlenswert finde ich die Sausage Platter, mit einer Auswahl an exzellenten Würsten aus dem Fleischmarkt von direkt gegenüber. Der übrigens für sich schon eine Besichtigung wert ist.

Friendly little pub at one corner of Smithfield. Good selection of English pub food. Excellent reasonably priced meat platter well worth the visit. Good selection of ales. Lounge room with views upstairs.

Rebuilt after the great fire and reopened after that this is a great example of the quintessential pub.

We booked a lunch here, 10 friends out for the day. The atmosphere is lovely and a really lovely old pub. Zita our waitress was lovely, helpful and amusing. There was an array of different flavours of sausages from Smithfield market. The staff were particularly helpful especially when one of our party fainted. Fortunately he recovered quickly with no after effects. Would highly recommend this pub.

This was not one of the best experiences. It is a classic London city pub but dark and well worn. The service was very welcoming and helpful but let down badly by the cooking and to some extent by the tired decor. My battered fish was square, hardly battered and not crisp, and with skin like leather. My friends speciality sausages were dry and overcooked. It was not so bad as to complain but I would look for somewhere else if I was in the vicinity in the future.

I love this pub for an after work drink. Staff are chatty and friendly. Atmosphere is so relaxed, you feel right at home. Drinks not too unreasonable for central London. It's perfect for a weekday catchup with friends or after work.

This is a fine example of a Shepherd Neame pub (I have to admit to bias - I was brought up on SN's Masterbrew in my first local in Kent). The beer is well up to standard, there is a great atmosphere and the staff are really welcoming and friendly. If you are around Smithfield Market looking for a drink then they don't come much better than this. Give it a try.

Beers are well kept, atmosphere at lunchtimes is lively and the lamb stew with mash we had was excellent and worth waiting for. There's a lovely dining room upstairs with views of the square in front of Saint Barts but there'd be more room if they replaced the over large wooden high tables in the middle of the main bar

Excellent food and a cheery, fun English pub. Wait staff friendly and helpful and the building is an excellent representation of the type.

This Superwoman waited upon a party of approaching 30 ill-disciplined adults , most of whom had forgotten what they had ordered , with amazing efficiency - in the private dining room upstairs .The food somewhere between average and very good , the wine better value than the beer ( which , though good , was in my view overpriced ) .
