Hmm 🤔, great background music. Sadly only larger, cider, and corporate Doombar in bottles to drink! Surely a trip to Asda to get a selection of bottled ales and craft beers at 4 for £6 and sell for £5, no brainer, and keeps for years. Garden also needs some attention and a good clean up.

Wandered in here to look for a place to watch the recent Arsenal match (came from out of town). Literally laughed at for wearing a mask by almost everyone in the pub. Everyone literally doing what should not be done during Covid and marching up to the bar, no social distancing etc. We eventually left because the clientele all started singing ‘oh the weather outside is frightful’ because we were wearing big coats and hats (it’s November). I don’t think anybody in this place has even seen anyone from outside Romsey before and there’s a certain phrase I’d like to describe them as (those who sleep with their sheep) which I will not mention on this website. We didn’t even experience what the service/drinks were like but we’d just like to warn everyone to avoid this place like the plague if visiting Romsey.

Since the new owners have taken over there is a deffinate lack of atmosphere. Now I love dogs but I don’t want to go to a pub and see it walking along the bar. I wouldn’t let my children do that so why would they let a dog? And they’re talking about bringing in basket food. There is no way I’d eat in a place like that. As for the drinks I hear there is a good selection of beers I don’t drink beer but the drinks we had were warm, half empty and in dirty glasses. Came here Saturday evening with some friends. Had a mvery enjoyable evening until the landlady decided to have a lock in. After serving very intoxicated customers all evening (including the landladys partner who was in no way fit for more drink) a brawl kicked off. There were punches swinging from everywhere. The landladys family or friends were running up to local people from behind, punching them and even pulling girls hair and punching them. I was very frightened I couldn’t even get out as they had locked us in which I feel must be a health and safety issue considering how small it is there? I used to enjoy coming here when Wayne and Paula were running it. A group of four of us visited this venue to see the band Misdirected, who were very good, during our short stay at this pub. We ordered drinks, the girl behind the bar was very polite and apologetic about the fact that they didn't accept cards, which was no problem. We sat at the only empty table in a very full pub. The lights above the table were extremely bright, which is probably why nobody had sat there. One of our group loosened off a couple of the bulbs which made it much better. He was quickly accused by a customer of stealing light bulbs, which he hadn't done and politely explained that he hadn't! Not long after that a very rude male member of staff came over and started having a go about the light bulbs! It was totally unnecessary and we would have stayed for the whole evening if it wasn't for this ridiculous issue! We all left our unfinished drinks and went to a pub where the staff are welcoming and polite. The male member of staff needs to value new customers as we would have spent a fair bit of money there all evening plus enjoyed the band if it hadn't been for his attitude.

There are live bands on the weekends, and they put on events that are interesting and different. They hold an annual fundraising cycle and the food, in the form of a barbecue, is amazing - fresh food with variety. As far as I know, they don't offer in-house food on a regular basis. I used to drink red wine, and I can say that their house red wine is very good. Service is excellent. Public areas are clean. Staff are friendly. Good vibe.

She sat there all night looking like hell was about to freeze over...and I've since found out she was the landlady! Not the welcoming face you'd expect in a pub in these difficult economic times...if it wasn't for the band I would have gone somewhere more friendly. The young lad behind the bar was pleasant and worked hard...take note landlady, or you'll soon be joining the hundreds of pubs going to the wall each year!
