Went for afternoon tea, not much on display had to ask for pot of jam and noticed that others had to ask as well. Bread for the sandwiches a bit dry but the scones were lovely. Overall I wouldn’t go again.

What a fantastic experience. The service was so refreshing in a world of zero customer service. Christian and Esther were very attentive. They made sure we had everything we wanted throughout the whole meal, and ensured we were comfortable and seen to through in the bar once finished in the restaurant. The food, WOW! Spot on. In fact, it trumped my favourite restaurant, and now I'm going to be torn. We will 100% be back here. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, thankyou so much.

Rachel the waitress was outstanding. Friendly, chatty and attentive. The food was some of the best we have eaten locally. Outstanding from start to finish.

I used to love this place. They catered an excellent afternoon tea for my birthday, amongst other visits. Today I tried to buy a physical gift voucher as a thank you. I could not get one. First I was told I could buy one online- which I obviously knew but as I'd specifically travelled there to buy one, they claimed to have run out. The Reception made me feel like I was putting her out if she tried to ask someone. I was told someone else would be in later, so I rang. Again I was fobbed off, and they haven't even rung back with an answer If they are trying to lose business they have succeeded. Such a shame as I've always recommended the place Specifically, I am complaining about the attitude of the receptionist. I believe this was. the same person I spoke to later, even though she claimed not to be.

This is a nicely decorated restaurant, it is the remains of a Thai restaurant inside the parkmore hotel, it is clean and well presented, our waiter was called Daniel he was very pleasant and professional an assert to any company, sadly even he could not make up for the food. We ordered our food, Daniel had to come back and say the kitchen couldn't do the chicken caesar salad as they had ran out of croutons, we said that is fine could we maybe have some garlic bread to go with the salad, Danial had to come back and say the kitchen could not do that, so we said we will just have the salad We were then told they had no chicken left so the salad was off the menue. Starters we ok 4 Haloumi sticks and some pork belly cubes. As there was no chicken we tried a salmon fish cake, it sort of tasted of salmon but none was visable to the naked eye. Beef stroganoff, no mushrooms at all had lots of bell peppers in it (I hate those) and a sliced pickled veg of some sort, it was my first meal of the day so I tried to eat as much as I could. My friend was still hungry and wanted a cheese cake, what arrived was not cheese cake, I think they had run out of cheese cake and they did their best to make something up, it was a biscuit crumb base cream with some berry compote (way too sweet), defo not a cheese cake. Poor Daniel could see we were unhappy but we said it was fine he removed the cheesecake off the bill, we did not wish to add to his bad night so we just left. I personally feel they need to take a look at the whole menu again and make sure you have the very basics in stock! they had also run out of after eight mints!!!!!!! Only good thing about the night was Daniel

Me and my partner stayed at Parkmore Spa hotel this weekend and had food at The Birdcage. The restaurant itself is really well presented, (very instagramable) the food was lovely and there was a great variety on the menu. Definitely worth a visit!

We used a gift voucher for afternoon tea, staff were kind and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A good mix of sweet and savoury treats and a box to take any goodies you can’t manage home with you in request. Plenty of parking and the venue was clean and busy for a Wednesday afternoon, clearly a popular place to visit.

We stayed at the Parkmore and ate in the restaurant, we were shocked at how quiet it was as it was some of the best food we’ve had when visiting Yarm. The service was great too and for £129 the offer is excellent value. We will definitely be returning

Similary restaurants in North East

Server would not allow swaps on breakfast menu. Reluctant to call manager. Manager also refused swaps saying this had been stopped by head office. When told other pubs were still allowing it he said it was due to price difference between swap items. When pointed out that they were same price ( poached and fried eggs) he resorted to Head Office instruction. I subsequently checked with Head Office customer service who said they had not issued any such instruction. Swaps were at managers discretion. THE GUY WAS SIMPLY LYING

Food seems pretty good and mostly good prices. Music too loud. People therefore too loud. Often kids playing in the pub. I got hit in the face with a ball.

Met by a girl named Lucy, happy to introduce me as a patron, amazing service for me and my partner, other staff members very polite also! Only popped in for one but will be returning! Only purchased a neck oil and spirit but props to the owners for the freshest pint this side of the North East!

I normally nip in here for a few when I go to the shops or am passing by and fancy a sneaky beer or 2. Decent bar, bit expensive. I was excited when I saw they had Guinness on, as it's 5 min from where I am - however, it was a bang average pint, it even tasted a bit sharp and bitter, not sure what that was from, but at £6,20 a pint, that is robbery. Guinness is my "go to" , and I'd consider paying that, if I were getting the same quality as in Ireland, but it was miles away. There were also a couple of folk the other night on the sniff and created a bit if an awkward atmosphere, not sure I'll rush back now. I will say all the staff are very good though.
