The Birdcage in Tower Hamlets

If you want great customer service (very friendly and helpful staff), very good food (tasty and decent portions), and AMAZING cocktails (margarita 10/10) highly recommend going here. We didn't realise it was happy hour, and bonus that every drink we had was really top class. After having so many bad margaritas, it was so refreshing to come here! Atmosphere in the pub was also good- old time classic tunes which we had a boogie too. Special thanks to...Rosie, Chelsea, Fillip, Beth- had to get there names at the end of the night to say special thanks. Nothing felt too much, everything was served with a smile, as as mentioned above, so so tasty... Keep making amazing cocktails!!

Excellent ‘bottomless brunch’ we went for a late lunch. Very tasty food and attentive staff. Never once had to ask for a refill- they just magically happened. Totally recommend.

Great spot for lunch , the food is much better than in my last visit , and the staff is really nice.

My mum owed this pub back in the day (Jean and Bob) My daughter took me there tonight and we had the best evening and were treated like royalty thank you to the wonderful manager who made us so welcome.

Amazing visit made better by Kobi on the bar. Exceptional service; worth her weight in gold. Very good vibe and very good food. Well worth a visit.

Visited with friends and family and waited for a 20 minutes in a queue to get served. The bar tender then started serving serving people not in the queue who had just turned up. People were getting very annoyed and started shouting. We left in the end, the barman hasn’t got a clue. The tables were sticky and dirty and hadn’t been cleaned down for ages. There are far better pubs just down the road.

What a lovely pub! The staff were friendly The deals were great. Had cocktails which looked amazing and 2-4-1! Pizza was delicious and well priced would definitely recommend

Aangezien het tijd werd voor een echte Engelse maaltijd kwamen wij hier terecht. Dit is een gerenoveerde Victoriaanse pub (gevel met groene tegels) vol met locals. We waren er pas rond 19.30 uur (de keuken sluit om 20.00 uur) en toen was de keuze beperkt omdat de locals in de middag al vroeg eten. Eenvoudige doch smakelijke gerechten.

Overcooked cold roast beef dinners with inedible concrete Yorkshire puddings and presented with a polystyrene pot of thick gloopy gravy on the plate with diced frozen mixed veg! Seriously bad!

Nice looking pub at face value in a very popular spot on Columbia road where the flower market is but absolutely not worth your time or money!! Tables are very dirty, never wiped down, glasses and plates not cleared on every single table, you have to ask to have the table wiped and for things to be cleared by the very unwilling staff. I ordered a pork roast - potatoes were absolutely not roast potatoes, they were undercooked at best, accompanied by a stupid amount of carrots with literally 4 green beans. The pork was sliced very thinly, no crackling at all but soggy and chewy fat all over it. The Yorkshire was undercooked and floppy - I couldn’t even eat it. The gravy came cold in a paper cup. It was £19 (!!!!) and the worst roast I have ever had, a total and utter rip off with dirty cutlery to eat with and no napkins offered. To also make this pub not worth visiting is the fact the ladies bathroom had no toilet paper in all three cubicles, water all over the floor and one blocked sink leaving only one to wash your hands. Myself and my three friends had asked the bar staff if more toilet paper could please be put into the bathroom as we had all gone and been caught short. They said yes. It didn’t happen. So I asked again when I went to the bar on my way to the toilet next, along with another lady who was asking. My request was met with hostility by the young and extremely rude staff. With 4 of them standing there with hands on hips saying no, they had no more toilet paper and wouldn’t be getting more to put in there. Because ‘you guys keep using the bathroom and all the paper’ So ‘YOU GUYS’ - actual paying customers, on a busy Sunday afternoon, can’t even use the bathroom as a basic amenity with toilet paper!! Especially for women, that is absolutely not acceptable. I was told in no uncertain terms that they weren’t going to do anything about it and ‘why don’t you use napkins’ - whereas they knew there was no paper in there so THEY should have replaced it with napkins themselves or found another solution rather than us ladies going in there, doing our business, finding there is nothing to wipe with then being met by disrespectful staff who didn’t give a damn. What a disgrace this pub is and what a terrible bunch of staff working there. I certainly will not be going back there, neither will my friends and if you’re reading this, I would recommend that you don’t either.

Went for a bottomless brunch, big group of 15 people, on Saturday 17th September. All booked and confirmed numbers in advance via email (which they claimed they didn't recieve). They got the order wrong and made an extra dish (which they said we could "just have to share between us", which we thought was very nice... at first). At the end, they charged us for it - not for just the meal price, for the whole bottomless brunch price (£35!!) — an extra £35 for a meal we never ordered or wanted! Absolutely disgusting and unbelievable. Will never go back !

I came here with my boyfriend the other day. Honestly I recieved amazing service and great cocktails. My server martha was extremely attentive and so polite. Me and my partner will definitely come here again.

mpromptu roast on Sunday in a pub in my neighbourhood- it’s a bit of a risky strategy as sunday is Colombia road flower market & brick lane market - so the area is chock-a-block Walked in and asked the lovely bar lady if there’s a table / she pointed to a lovely seat at the back and we were off - as it was busy (fun crowd not rowdy c - families; couples; singletons) we downloaded the app and ordered the roast platter for 2 and a couple of drinks - the lovely Canadian waitress (Danielle) was so helpful in getting up extras / additional drinks etc . Delightful afternoon - had to walk round the block to burn it off but it was very nice , friendly staff and lovely to see london buzzing again

The Birdcage has gone through quite a big change in its energy and the feeling of the place. Having lived opposite for 20years I can safely say it is by far the best it has ever been. Tasha the manager is a key part of this. The staff work hard and are warm and welcoming to customers. I now visit regular because it is a pleasure to do so, The Birdcage is now a complete enhancement to the area seven days a week with the outdoor seating. Well done and thank you to the staff and management!

Lovely evening in this pub. Service was wonderful, felt very safe in these scary times. Staff were friendly and smiley, had to put up with some bad behaviour from some customers and handled it very well. Will definitely be back.
